Stop iTunes syncing Photos.

I do not want iTunes to sync or transfer Photos from my iPad to my iMac. I have unchecked the box for "Sync Photos", but each time that I connect my iPad to my iMac, iTunes starts to sync and opens iPhoto.
How can I get iTunes this to work?
IOS 8.1.1, Mac OS 10.10.1

Itunes has nothing to do with it.
You have iphoto preferences set to open when a digital camera ( which the iPhone is) is connected.
If you do not want it to open, then set the preferences not to to open iPhoto when a camera is connected

I am experiencing the same problem after upgrading to PSE13, but haven't found a solution yet.
TomWoodbridge proposes a workaround, see Re: iTunes Photo Sync with PhotoShop Elements Fails after PSE Update
Another permanent workaround (which doesn't require to copy the pse database every time you want to sync) is described here: Elements 13: Cannot synchronise photo albums in iTunes after upgrading from Elements 11
    Hope this helps.

  • Anyone else having problem with RAID and iTunes syncing photos in Vista?

    Hello,
For whatever reason iTunes can not load some of the photos from C drive. It can do it from D drive, though VERY slow. Both C and D are NTFS system, but C is a RAID 0 drive (implemented by hardware on motherboard, Intel 82801G controller). I just wander if this is something related to iTunes not working correctly with RAID drivers, or is it something else? I should say that ALL other programs and games working fine on this drive.
    Thanks for the replies.

The problem is with Windows Vista using the NTFS file system, check out this post for the official solution. This has worked perfectly for me everytime I've tried it:

  • Itunes syncing photos to Ipad - Tab visible but not loading

    Hello
having an issue syncing photos from Itunes to my Ipad.
I have a MacBook Pro and Ipad Air, latest version of maverick, IOS7 and Itunes.
When i connect my Ipad to my Macbook everything is working fine, except the tab for the photos.
I can access it. But from there I only see the loading icon. For hours, I even let it run for a whole night, nothing.
Every other tab is working (apps, music, books, etc.)
I'm using Aperture and Iphoto on the macbook.
Any idea? I talked my gf into buying an Ipad because it's sooo cool to watch pictures. Now I have a problem
    Thx
    Dominik

I've had this issue myself and it was annoying. The only way I could get it to work again was Reset my iPad and start it as new.  Full discussion here:

I think you'll find the screenshots match what you see pretty much perfectly.

  • Windows XP + iTunes: (sync) photos not copied...cannot be displayed on ipod

    Hello all,
I'm sorry if this is a known and solved issue but I'm really frustrated about it.
I have bought a brand new ipod Classic 80GB. My system is running Windows XP SP2 (up to date) and iTunes 7.5.0.20. I have an NTFS Hard Drive (2 Partitions, C and D) and a FAT32 Hard Drive (1 Partition, E).
Every time I try to sync my ipod through iTunes with a video or photo I get the following error message: "Some of your photos, including the photo PHOTO_NAME, were not copied to the iPod IPOD_NAME because they cannot be displayed on your iPod."
What is this? I have followed the photo (and video) sync procedure to the letter. On my laptop (also Win XP SP2), iTunes works just fine! So there's nothing wrong with my photos/videos.
I looked around the Internet and found there's a similar issue in Windows Vista with RAID and/or NTFS. I do NOT have RAID or Vista.
It there a known bug also in Windows XP? Is there a fix expected?
I tried moving my photos on a USB FAT32 Stick but still I was unable to sync them with my ipod.
Any help or information will be much appreciated.

Near as I can tell, iTunes DOES NOT like a JPEG with an embedded color profile. I too have been seeing a simliar issue and did some troubleshooting last night to arrive at this conclusion.
Pictures exported from Adobe Lightroom would sync to my iPod Touch via iTunes without any issue. However, Pictures saved from Adobe Photoshop would fail with the error "Some of your photos, including the photo PHOTO_NAME, were not copied to the iPod because they cannot be displayed on your iPod."
This set me to looking at the differences in the JPEGS that Lightroom was creating vs. the ones that Photoshop was creating. I finally arrived on the inclusion of the color profile.
Pictures exported from Lightroom, while converted to the sRGB color space, did not include the profile in the image and sync via iTunes just fine. Photoshop, on the other hand, automatically includes the profile when saving as a JPEG and these pictures WILL NOT sync via iTunes. Even if you tell Photoshop to not include a color profile, it includes a piece of metadata that says the profile is not specified (which is distinctly different from Lightroom which omits the metadata entirely.)
Choosing File|Save for Web... (as opposed to File|Save As...) in Photoshop does not include any color profile (just like exporting from Lightroom) and syncs via iTunes just fine.
I'm very curious to know if the images that you (and others) are having problems sync have, for some reason, a color profile embedded in them. In Windows Explorer, you can right-click on a picture, choose Properties, select the Details tab and look for the Color representation property. My assumption is if it is blank, the picture will sync fine, but if it is anything else it will not sync.
It'd be great to get confirmation from Apple if this is indeed an issue - that JPEGs with embedded color profiles are not sync'd with iTunes. I'm going to do a few more tests today and see, if by chance, including a Mac color space on the image enables it to sync or not.

  • Recent iTunes syncing Photos issue

    Hi all,
Recently I've been having issues syncing iPhoto albums to my iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV. It results in an error such as :-
"The <device> cannot be synced. The disk could not be read from or written to."
This usually is during the import phase of the process despite me deleting all the photos in my device, therefore nothing to import.
The AppleTV (Gen 1) is somewhat more descriptive by explicitly stating "iTunes cannot sync to the Apple TV <ATV name> because of a problem on your computer. The disk could not be read from or written to.".
I'm inclined to think this only started happening with the latest version of the iPhoto 9.3 with Aperture 3.3.1 integration. Meanwhile my iTunes is 10.6.3.
Is this a known bug? Has anyone else seen this issue?

That can sometimes indicate a photo cache issue. If you remove the current ipod photo cache, does that get you past the error?
For instructions on where to find it, see the following document:

  • How Do I Stop iTunes syncing my iPhone automatically?

I have owned an iPhone 5 for a little shy of two years now.  I love it but it has one irritating feature that I can't seem to get rid of.  When I had an iPod years ago one of the things I liked about it was the simple drag and drop method of loading songs onto the phone but that's never been possible with this iPhone.  Whenever I plug it into the computer it starts removing songs I want on it and adding songs I don't want.  I have been through iTunes' settings and as far as I can see I've set syncing to be manual and still it does this.  Increasingly I find myself avoiding adding new content to my phone because of how awkward the process is.
    To be clear, I want:
    1) When I plug the iPhone into the computer I want NOTHING to happen unless I tell iTunes to do it.  No music to be synced, backed up, deleted or anything.  I simply want iTunes to detect the phone and be ready for my instructions about what should be added or deleted.
    2) To be able to drag and drop the music I want from my library to the iPhone.
    I am using:
    iPhone 5 with ios 8.2
    iTunes 12.1.1
    I have already:
Used "Device Preferences" to select "Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPhones from syncing automatically"

    Hi,
I'm not quite sure what you mean.  My iphone is connected to my home wifi, it doesn't change whats on the phone unless I plug it directly into my laptop though.
I've just had a look at the setting you mentioned and its not currently set up to do the wifi syncing.  It says "to enable wifi syncing with itunes connect to itunes using a cable and click sync with this iphone over wifi"  Obviously since I want things much less automatic rather than more I won't be switching that feature on.

  • How do I stop iTunes syncing apps to iPhone?

I only ever use iTunes to sync audiobooks to my iPhone. I don't (or very rarely, usually at new device time) use it for backups or transferring music. All I want iTunes to sync to my device are the audiobooks I select. Why then does it insist on rearranging all my apps to a predefined layout from inside iTunes and putting BACK apps I deleted months ago?
I know this question has been asked before, but not for a while. Apparently I can go down my list of apps and select "Remove" or "Will Remove" etc but there used to be a check box for "sync apps". Why did Apple feel it was a good idea to remove this? I am sick to death of adding a new book to my phone then having to go and delete unwanted apps from the device - again - and rearrange the order back to how I want it. I should not have to do all this in iTunes before syncing. One button "do no sync apps" is all I want.
Am I missing something obvious or does Apple really believe that iTunes should override my preferred layout with one that it feels is right?

What happens if instead of using the sync button you just manually drag and drop your audiobooks onto your iPhone>Books in the Devices list.
Obviously you would have to have the Sidebar open to do this.

  • Can't stop iTunes syncing apps

I've moved from a 64GB iPad to a 16GB iPad and so only want to sync a subset of the old apps. I deselect the apps im itunes, apply the changes, but every time I sync the new iPad itreverts to the previous settings and reinstalls the same apps. There isn't space to completely install them but they fill the space I want for other apps

Right, the buttons are labeled with what you want to do. So, if it says "Will Remove" don't click on it. By doing that , you are basically toggling the switch from whatever it says to the next option. "Will Remove" will remove it from the iPad by preventing it from trying to sync with the iPad. So, you want to get the button to say "Will Remove" on all of the apps that you don't want syncing to your iPad.
If it says "Install" that means "click on this button if you want to install". If you don't want to install, then don't click on it.
So, here's what the buttons mean and do:
Install: means an app that is on your computer or in iCloud but which is not installed on the device you have hooked to the computer right now. If you don't want that app on the device, leave the button on "install".
Will Install: is telling you that this app is not on your device right now, but when you sync again, it will install it.
So, Install and Will Install are a toggle switch for apps that are not currently installed on your iPad. One is saying that it is available to "Install", and the other is saying that you have elected to install the app, and it "Will Install" it on the next sync.
Remove: means that an app is installed on your iPad, and you have the option to remove it by clicking the "Remove" button.
Will Remove: means that you have clicked on the Remove button because you want to remove that app from your iPad.
So, Remove and Will Remove are a toggle switch for apps that are currently installed on your iPad.
If the only options you have are "Install", "Will Install", and "Will Remove", then you want the button to say Install on any app that you don't want sync'd. Then sync the iPad. That should prevent any of those apps from attempting to install again.
    Cheers,

  • Need help syncing photos to ipad through iTunes

I have tried to troubleshoot an issue I seem to have with syncing photos to my ipad through iTunes.  I have done it many times before successfully.  Now all the usual tabs seem to be missing and there is no reference to photos anywhere I can see on iTunes.  This article seems to be about my issue iTunes: Syncing photos - Apple Support  However, I don't seem to have the buttons/tabs they refer to.  I am running iTunes 12 which seems to be the latest version.  Is this article still relevant?

    Hello rayver,
There is a slight difference between how you sync in iTunes 11 vs iTunes 12. Take a look at the article below to look for your iPad in iTunes and then select the Photos tab to then sync your photos over.

  • How to sync Photo using iTunes

    Hi All,
I would like to know is there any way/method to enable the "Selected folders" option in iTunes under Photos section?
I was trying to sync come wallpaper that into my phone, but after syncing, i will get another folder call "Photo Library".
Q: How can i remove "Photo Library" on the iPhone? and How to selected photos using iTunes and upon syncing i don't want to see"Photo Library" folder in my iPhone?
Please share the knowlege whoever facing similiar issue.
    Thanks.

Following are instructions: iTunes: Syncing photos
Note that in order to see the Photos tab you first must connect the phone and select it.
If you still don't see it, it is possible that it is off the edge of your screen to the right and you many need to use a scroll bar at the bottom.

  • Syncing photos from Adobe Bridge?

I have hunted across the web and haven't even found a page that discusses the question, let alone answers it:
Is it possible to sync photos TO an iPod from Adobe Bridge?
I suspect the answer is no (or at least, not directly).
Ideally, what I would like to do is "sync selected collections" to my iPod, including both ordinary collections and smart collections.
(If you're not familiar with Adobe Bridge—it's a file browser/organizer that, unlike iPhoto, views the actual native folder structure on the computer, rather than having its own database separate from the file structure.  Ordinarily you use Bridge to look at photos—or video files or whatever—directly in their containing folders.  However, if you want, you can create collections or smart collections.  These are exactly analogous to iPhoto's albums and smart albums, so I won't waste time describing them in detail.)
Since I suspect there is no way set up within iTunes or iOS to sync from Bridge's collections, I am looking for workarounds that will allow me to do this.
The collections, incidentally, are really just XML documents containing a list of file names (including the full path for each file).  Smart collections are XML lists of criteria.
I have monkeyed around with aliases and symbolic links coupled with the iTunes "sync photos from folder..." dialogue, and it appears that only hard links will work—not symbolic links to files, not symlinks to directories and certainly not aliases.
What's needed, then (and I believe this is the only way to accomplish my objective without doubling the hard disk space taken up) is a script/droplet/workflow/whatever that will take the collections from Bridge and create hardlinks for all photos from all collections, in a new directory (with the descriptive title "iPod syncing photos folder with hardlinks of collections' photos"—or maybe something shorter, heh heh.)
Can anyone scripting savvy point me in the direction of how I might accomplish this?

The solution I finally came up with involves hard links, and two separate automator workflows.  I posted about it in detail here: http://forums.xkcd.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=103600
    Hope this helps someone else.

  • HT4236 Having trouble deleting synced photos from phone

I deleted all my photos on my camera roll but I am not able to delete all of the albums.

    Hi Natiyellowboi!
The answer to your question is located in the article you have linked above, and I will highlight it here:
    iTunes: Syncing photos
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4236
To delete synced photos and videos from your device
In iTunes, click the Device button in the upper right corner. (If viewing the iTunes Store, click the Library button in the upper-right corner first.)
Click the Photos tab in the resulting window.
Choose "Selected albums" and deselect the albums or collections you want to delete.
Note: To delete all synced photos, deselect "Sync Photos from" and, when asked, click "Remove photos."
    Click Apply.
Take care, and thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities.

  • Help with iTunes Sync

Hi my iTunes account won't update/sync to be the same between my 2007 iMac (Leopard) to my MacBook Pro 2012 (Lion) - have tried 'home sharing' but it just won't update anything new since my first download.  I can't find a 'refresh' option.  How to I get my new podcasts/music to update automatically to the MacBook Pro after they have been updated on my iMac?  I can't update my iMac any further as it has only got 4GB so I can't get iCloud it and don't want to have duplicate everything in Itunes on the one account.
I want to set up my new iPhone to link on my MacBook Pro but it just won't pull across the iTunes info updated on iMac.
    Steph

    I've this same problems too.
    Version & Device info:
iPhoto v9.5.1 (with 14,000+ photos and 100 short iPhone/iPad video)
    iTunes v11.1.3
    Macbook Air 2012
    OSX 10.9.1
    Problem:
Unable to sync photo to iPhone 5S via iTunes (sync photo from iPhoto).
The sync at iTunes completed but there're nothing at my iPhone 5S.
    Tried:
Just got my iPhone 5S last week, trying to sync my iPhoto library to it using iTunes. But it keep crashing.
So I decided to start from the beginning again... I exported all iPhoto photos and video to folders.
Create new iPhoto library and import all photos and videos (with a folder at one time, approx 100-200 photos max in single folder).
Then sync to iPhone via iTunes (after each folder imported to iPhoto)
Everything went well at first (after synced 12,000+ photos), I can see the 'Events' tab in my iPhone 5S photo library and browse the photos.
Today, when I continue syncing the rest via iTunes, after it has completed the sync, all Photos that I'd synced previously is now gone. There're no 'Events' in my iPhone 5S photo library now.
Restarted iPhone 5S and also MBA, retried several times to sync and check, no luck! Even though the iTunes sync completes without any alert message, nothing is syncing to my iPhone 5S.
In my iPhone 5S, now there're only those new photos and video that I captured last few days. Nothing else.
Previously using iPhone 5 (with the same iPhoto library and everything was so smooth without any problem). Is this iPhone 5S problem or latest iTunes / iPhoto problem(s)?
Anyone else has the same issue and able to solve it? Thanks.

  • HT4236 How do I remove synced photos from my IPhone?

I have tried to delete my photos that I have synced from my photo library and it just won't work! I followed the Apple Support directions and still nothing, the photos are still there!!!

    Hello there, Shrid.
The following Knowledge Base article reviews how to Sync photos:
    iTunes: Syncing photos
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4236
You will just sync to the new computer. Keep in mind:
    Additional Information
Syncing photos with your device will create an iPod photo cache.
Syncing photos can only happen from one computer or user account at a time. Syncing photos with a different computer or user replaces the photos on the device.
You can't reimport pictures synced from your computer to your device back to your computer. You can only import pictures in the Camera Roll or Saved Photos from your device to your computer. If you need to retrieve synced photos from your device:
Email them from the device to yourself.
Copy them from the emails to your computer.
On iPhone and iPod touch using iOS 5 and iOS 6, all synced photos will appear in a unified category called photo library. Photos are not duplicated; this is a way to view all synced albums in one place. You can also tap a specific album beneath photo library to view individual albums.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro D.
