Stop Opening Documents in Tabs.....
Hello All:
I am trying to make Fireworks CS5 on Windows 7 to stop opening documents in tabs. Does anyone have any tips on how I can make this happen? It seems to be an option in Photoshop but not in Fireworks.
thanks for any help or advice you can give at this point.

I wonder what Adobe is waiting for before they do that (include function for opening multiple documents in tabs), that's the only reason why I still have PDF Complete on my system

Bug Report: Enabling Application Frame forces all open documents into tabs
Steps to reproduce the problem:
Set Preferences -> Interface -> "Open Documents as Tabs" to OFF
Open a bunch of documents. Observe that they are separate floating windows, which is good
Choose Window -> "Application Frame" which will turn the default Application Frame off
Choose Window -> "Application Frame" which will re-enable the Application Frame and force all of your open docs into tabs, which is undesired!

Preferences -> Interface -> Uncheck "Enable Floating Document Window Docking"
This will prevent you from accidentally dragging a document near the top of the Aplication Frame and having it sucked into a tab.
That said, I think it is still a problem to have all documents brought into tabs when turning on Window -> Application Frame when all of the available "don't use tabs" options are chosen. -
How do you place an image on 'new background" when open documents in tabs is unchecked
I am trying to use "mirror technique" (watching videos to learn)
I opened image in PS 2014....with "open documents as tabs is Unchecked..
made a new document the size that will hold the doubled image...
duplicated the image
flipped horizontal...
but when I place on "new document"...nothing happens....just separate windows..

Switch to image 2, CTRL+V to paste.
Click on Move tool and adjust layer placement as needed.

Is it possible to open multiple docs in tabs in Adobe Reader?
I wonder what Adobe is waiting for before they do that (include function for opening multiple documents in tabs), that's the only reason why I still have PDF Complete on my system

Firefox has stopped opening the browser tabs I set
I defined my home page as https://www.google.co.uk/|https:uk.yahoo.com/ Firefox no longer open on this but instead opens a new tab.

I understand that you have two pages that open up as a homepage, however I am not sure if you have set it up to open two pages or just. Nonetheless I have provided the steps to change the homepage and the new tab via the about:config entry.
It sounds like a setting was changed on your new tab page. I understand that you would like to know how to change the home page back as well. Below are the instructions on how to change the new tab page if you need to change this as well.
# In the [[Location bar autocomplete|Location bar]], type '''about:config''' and press '''Enter'''. The "''This might void your warranty!''" warning page may appear.
# Click '''I'll be careful, I promise!''' to continue to the about:config page.

Restart Firefox and open a new tab to make sure the change was made. To change the homepage:search for browser.startup.homepage and doubleclick on the entry to enter the url.

I have igoogle as my hompage. When I click the home button, it will open my igoogle page but also open up a blank tab as well. Firefox didn't always do this, it just started. Maybe when I upgraded to the 5.0. I've tried looking in the options and I can't find something there and there doesn't seem to be a solution on the web. How do I get it to stop doing that?

My tabs no longer have an x to close them, and opening links stopped opening in new tabs.
My question sums it up.
The new tab opening stopped after the last upgrade to 7.01, and the tab closing changed occurred today, and has happened on and off previously. Operating on Windows 7 Home.Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

The tab and various favorite sites open right on top of the print screen window, blocking the print screen window so that I have to x out the tab to print my email.

How do I get Preview to stop opening documents opened in the past?
If I open a.jpg in Preview, quit Preview, then double click z.jpg, both a.jpg *and* z.jpg open. Help! And it isn't limited to Preview. Just discovered that Microsoft Word is doing the same. This never happened until the Lion upgrade.
Hold the option button on quit.

How do I change the keyboard shortcut for Cycle through open documents in PS CC for Mac?
Sorry to bug the community with such a seemingly inconsequential task, but I am seriously tired of using the awkward default keyboard shortcut for cycling through open docs in PS. I'd like to change it to what I am used in in Chrome, which is Cmd+Option+[left] or {right} arrow keys. I noticed this is not a command listed in the in keyboard shortcuts, for whatever reason. Where on Earth can I change this?
If it is not possible to do it by default, is there a plug-in or a change to the code that will allow this basic functionality?
Thanks again guys and gals!As far as I know, you can't. It's "hard wired" in. Not even Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts is allowed to change it.
However I did find this tip:
Anyway i never found tabs in Adobe application useful, instead i prefer the old school method: simply switch off tabs feature via illustrator/ preferences/ user interface/ open documents as tabs. Then in Mac preferences panel, under keyboard, just search for the “focus on next application window” field (under menu, keyboard and text) and assign a shortcut if the default option doesn't fit you. And there is now you can easily switch between open documents!.
The best part of this is that it can be used in all mac applications, not only Adobe ones. And remember, if you want this working on Indesign, Photoshop, etc be aware of first switch off the tab features so that the system could “see” multiple documents opened not only one single tabbed document.

Float images in photoshop cs4 - edit preferences untick open doc as tab doesnt work
Hi, i have read about floating all images in windows on the forums and i have tried unticking the open documents as tabs in the edit preferences - interface section and it doesnt work, my hand is really starting to hurt, i dont know why this isnt working ?
If you drag the files to the margins (e.g., near the menu bar) of Photoshop CS4 (11.0.2), and not to the workspace, they will actually open as windows.
It'll actually do the expected thing in CS5 (i.e., open as Window) even if you drag the file to the workspace - in other words they finally fixed that bug.
Kind of a shame Adobe doesn't think blatantly wrong stuff like the "drag to workspace always opens a tabbed view" bug is important enough to fix in maintenance releases for older products.

Right click on link for pdf document and "Open in another tab"
Immediately, the mouse wheel scroll function stops working in the current tab (or any other open tabs).
It's not a deal breaker, just a strange annoyance.Using similar scroll function on my netbook. To add to the above, I find that using scroll is actually causing the PDF to scroll rather than the tab I'm actually in.
Reader 9 is installed on my Win7 Starter. -
If PDF document is open in any TAB, scrolling through touch pad in other TABs is disabled?
I have ACER Aspire 5740G, Firefox 5.0, Windows 7 Ultimate (X32), Adobe Acrobat X Pro. If some online "pdf" document is open in any of the TABs, The scrolling through touch pad in other tabs stop working however it remain active in the PDF document. After closing the pdf tab the scrolling starts to work normal.
I have the same problem and have had it since Firefox 5. I now have Firefox 6.0.2 and still have the problem.

If an Adobe PDF is open in a tab, touchpad scrolling only works in that tab. If any other tabs are open and user attempts to scroll, nothing will happen in the non-pdf tab, but the pdf will be scrolling. This can be very annoying because if you forget there is a pdf open and try to scroll, you will scroll the pdf out of place. -
How to stop Acrobat opening document after printing to PDFmaker?
Hello,
When I print to PDFmaker, I just want Acrobat (Professional 7.0) to save the document, but it insists on opening a new window containing the recently printed document. If I quickly open another window, it brings the document window back to the top.
This is very irritating. How do I make it stop opening this unnecessary window?

PS. If relevant, I am running Windows XP on a Dell Inspiron 1520.From your Start Menu select Printers and Faxes. Right click on the listing for Adobe PDF and click Printing Preferences... and go to the Adobe PDF Settings tab. Uncheck the box labeled View Adobe PDF results. Click OK.

How to stop multiple auto-switching to address bar every time I open a new tab and try to type something anywhere outside of address bar? Like something just wants me to use that embedded search when u type something not-web-address in address bar and hit enter. And the most ridiculous thing is that it happens repeatedly on like every second, like I just move down from address bar and start typing again, but then again it switches me to address bar, and 3, 4 times like that. And the result is also that I can't see the address of that page.
I think its has something to do with my AVG antivirus, because this started the same time some AVG Nation started to appear in every new tab i open (and thats also irritating me, I read about it here on support.mozilla.org and it seems that the only solution is to completely reinstall Firefox, but I dont want to lose all my settings) but when i type something in address bar and hit enter it opens the search results in Google.
Please try to help me, I like Firefox but I must switch to Chrome until I fix this problem.
