Stop Push Notifications for Removed App?

I unstalled an app (Shadow Cities, specifically) and I am still getting push notifications for it. How can I make this stop?

Install the app.  Make sure that notifcations for the App are turned OFF.  Then uninstall it again.

  • Push notifications for specific apps not working even though the badge updates (Facebook, Google  etc.)

So this has been happening for months now. I was expecting iOS 5 to fix it, but it hasn't. Push notifications for specific apps do not work. Some come through just fine, but Facebook and Google+ in particular don't work correctly. Facebook push notifications seem to work when the notification is generated from an action performed on a mobile device (ie: someone writes on my wall from another iPhone); if they do the same thing on the desktop, the notification doesn't seem to come through.
As for Google+, I've never seen a single push notification come through as it should, even though I've seen other iPhones with the same app reciving these notifications with no issue.
This is particularly strange because the badge on the app icon usually updates (though it feels like fetch, not push), but the notifications simply don't make it into the notification center (or on the lock screen as they should). As I said, this has been happening for months, long before iOS 5, and the problem has persisted now that I'm running iOS 5.
I've checked and rechecked all notifiation settings for these apps. I've uninstalled and reinstalled them. I've called Apple support and they couldn't offer me any help. Does anyone have any idea what's going on here?
    Thanks for your time.

I got an iPhone 4s and I'm experiencing the same problems.  I used facebook messenger, and used to get the push notifications to that app, but now that i've deleted it I no longer get the messages directly to the facebook app.
I have push on in the mail settings and notification center for facebook are on as well.  I also have push notifications on in the settings for facebook.
I've tried deleting the app and reinstalling, no fix.  I haven't tried a hard reset yet.
So far, I figured out that it's not iOS or the facebook app, somehow it is a problem with my account.  I logged into my wife's account on my iphone and her account is able to recieve push notifications to my iphone.
    Any thoughts?

  • How to stop update notification for one app (iMovie) that I do not want to update

How to stop update notification for one app (iMovie) that I do not want to update. I do not want iMovie 10 taking up nearly 3 gb on my hard disc. iMovie 9 is just fine and only takes up 1.5 gb. But I get notifications to update and don't know how to turn it off. I've gone into the Purchases tab of the App store and deleted it. I don't want to turn off Update notifications (which is irrelevant in any case because I see no option to do that in Notifications system preference pane). I just don't want to be bugged about iMovie updates. The only option I'm given is to postpone the next reminder until the next morning. -- Franklin

Interesting; never came across that - here is the window I get (just double clicked on a random doc in the trash):

  • My Iphone wont send push notifications for the app Telegram, what do I do to fix it?

When my Iphone is locked the push notifications will work for every app but one. My telegram app wont push notifications when someone messages me, what setting can I change to fix it?

    Hey gingertodd0911,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
This article has information that may help you resolve the issue with no push notifications for that app on your iPhone 5s.
About Notifications on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support
Not getting notifications for a specific app
Push notifications require an active Wi-Fi or cellular connection. If you’re not getting notifications for a specific app, try these steps:
Go to Settings > Notifications to verify that the app supports notifications. If notifications do not appear in the Notification Center, make sure that the Notification Center setting for the app is enabled.
Make sure you’re signed in to your Apple ID.
If you’ve recently installed an app or restored a backup, open the app to start getting notifications.
    So long,

  • Is there a way to get push notifications for social apps on the Droid Maxx

Is there a way to get push notifications for social apps on the Droid Maxx? With text messaging, you will see a badge icon, but I wasn't sure if you could do that for social networks, too.

        @cmabbott85,
I can definitely understand how important it can be to get your Facebook or Twitter notifications on your phone.
As @rcshnoor mentioned, each app does have the option to turn the notification on or off. You need to launch the App and go into the Menu. Then go to App Settings and make sure notifications are checked.

  • I've turned off push notifications for certain apps but the push notices still appear. Any idea why?

    Hi there,
Apologies if this has been asked before.
My issue is not with notifactions not working, exactly the opposite. I have turned off notifications for several of the apps on my phone, but notifications still appear.
Is this a known problem? The main offender is an app called FreeAppADay.

I got an iPhone 4s and I'm experiencing the same problems.  I used facebook messenger, and used to get the push notifications to that app, but now that i've deleted it I no longer get the messages directly to the facebook app.

  • Push Notification for Facebook App is Not Working Help?

i went to general settings and everything was set to "ON" but it ONLY gives me notifications sometimes..i had a glitch for my Facebook app and was having problems so I decided to uinstall and reinstall and after reinstalling, the push notification seems to ONLY work sometimes and not often anymore. What could be causing this? a malware/infection for iPhone or what could be causing this?

    Hi,
Try first to check your facebook account settings--> notification tab.
Try to remove any app like IM or MSN that use facebook messages from the facebook account setting page.
you can also download facebook messanger app. if you create a US account i.e. put a fake US address.
    try it:)

  • No push notification for cards app

I have been using the cards app on my iphone 4S and I love it. The one feature I was most looking forward to is not working for me though. The push notification when my card was delivered. I have it set up to do so correctly in the notifications settings, but nothing. I have delivered 3 cards and have not seen any confirmation. Does it just not work, or is there something I am not doing?

I'm having the exact same issue. I paid for a card and I was emailed when it shipped but no push notification letting me know it delivered. It may not have delivered! My notifications are also enabled for Cards.. It also does not appear in the notification center either. I hope this gets fixed. It definitely isn't performing as advertised in the keynote, when it was released.

  • Why won't my push notifications for the app snapchat work after yesterday's iOS update?

After yesterday's update the app snapchat won't send me push notifications anymore

    Hello Nhuphham,
It sounds like you are not receiving your Snapchat notifications on your iPhone.  I found an article with steps that might help with this:
    Additional Information
If you have an app that could send frequent notifications (for example, Mail with high-traffic email accounts, Twitter apps, and so on), your iOS device could wake frequently to display the notification (and affect battery life). You can disable "View in Lock Screen" for a particular app in Settings > Notifications > <app name>.
    Troubleshooting notifications
Push notifications require an active Wi-Fi or cellular connection. If you are not receiving notifications for a specific app, try these steps:
Verify that the app supports notifications.
After installing an app or restoring a backup to a different iOS device, open the app at least once to begin receiving notifications.
If the app requires entering or logging in to an account, you will need to do this before receiving notifications.
Check Settings > Notifications to ensure that the app is configured for notifications.
If notifications do not appear only in the Notification Center, verify that the Notification Center setting for the app is enabled.
If you are still unable to receive notifications and you are using a Wi-Fi connection, verify that the network or firewall is not blocking access to port 5223.
You can find the full article here:
    iOS: Understanding Notifications
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3576
If you are still not receiving the notifications for Snapchat after following those steps, I recommend continuing with the steps in the following article:

  • Disable push notifications for an app but still have badges

In iOS 4, disabling push for a particular app was pretty straightforward, ON/OFF.  Not only that, but badges still worked (assuming the app supports badges), regardless if notifications were enabled for that app.  For example, I opened Words With Friends and had 2 games waiting me turn.  If I exited the app without taking my turn, you'd see 2 in the app's badge.
Now in iOS5, there are 5 different ON/OFF knobs you can tweak in the notification menu for a typical app 1) Notification Center 2) None/Banner/Alert 3) Badge app Icon, 4) Sounds 5) View In Lock Screen.  It appears, I'd like some confirmation on this, that if you turn any one of the knobs ON, then push is enabled for that app.  So say I only wanted badges enabled, like the behavior in iOS 4, but still wanted to leave Push off, is this now impossible to accomplish?  Or even better, say I wanted the notification in the Notification Center, but want Push turned off, is this also impossible?

    Talk to the developer.

  • Push notifications for uninstalled app

I had the Starbucks app installed.  Even after I disabled push notifications, I was still receiving push notifications.  I uninstalled the app and I'm still getting push notifications.  Any suggestions?

Install the app.  Make sure that notifcations for the App are turned OFF.  Then uninstall it again.

  • Duplicate iPhone push notifications for some apps

does anyone know how to fix the problem of getting the same iphone push notification from some (could be all) apps twice?
i've tried reinstalling the applications but no luck with that so i've been searching for solutions online. i am guessing it could have something to do with the server.
someone posted what looks like a similar problem here (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2161717) but it was archived so i could not contribute there.

The problem likely resides with the server (either the application-specific servers run by the developer, or Apple's push notification servers, probably the former).

  • In order to get APNs certificate for being a provider of push notification for an app, do I need to pay ?

There are very poor instructions or how to create the certificate. The instructions are nice for creating
of CSR etc. But no where is there any information of what type of developer you should be to get this.
One outside link unrelated to apple says you should be an enterprise developer and paying
    $299/year !!! for this.
This really and totally ***** and apple is just looting if that's a requirement.
They can charge this for enterprises or companies. I am an individual user and would like to
just have some push notifications sent using my own home server.
If I go to https://identity.apple.com/pushcert/ (which redirects to another page prompting for login)
and I login with my free developer account, it says that your apple ID must be associated with
an email address etc (which is a wrong/irrelevant message).
Does anyone know how to get a push certificate ?
Is payment required absolutely ? Or can it be done without paying ?
If payment is required, how do we encourage or make apple make it free ?

http://www.networkworld.com/news/2012/020612-mdm-apple-255756.html says that for push and developer there are different requirements.
    Also, http://www.air-watch.com/downloads/GenerateAPNsCertificate.pdf says that
"This does not have to be an Apple Developer Account. It can be any AppleID."
But still with free apple ID I don't see anything that let's me create a certificate

  • How do you change push notifications for different apps?

I am trying to change my notification sounds for Etsy, Paypal, etc. so that I know when I have made a sale vs. gotten a text.  Very few App developers create customized sounds for the apps.  Any ideas?

Developers have no way to provide this option at this time.

  • Will apps still get updated automatically if I turn off push notifications for the App store?

I like that my apps currently get updated automatically, but I don't really want to see it.  If I turn off all alerts/notifications for it, in Settings  > Notification Center, will the automatic updates still happen?

To answer the question:  Yes, the App Store will continue auto-updating all apps, even if you turn off all notifications/alerts for the App Store, and move it down to the "DO NOT INCLUDE" section in Settings > Notification Center
