Stop QuickFinder from loading

I need to stop QuickFinder from loading on a Netware Server runing 6.5 sp6

To disable QF temporarily:
On NetWare:
1. The apache settings is sys:/apache2/conf/httpd.conf comment out the
following two lines: Include "SYS:/qfsearch/WEB-INF/QFRewrite.conf"
and Include "SYS:/qfsearch/WEB-INF/QFSrchApache.conf"
2. For Tomcat, rename sys:/tomcat/4/webapps/qfsearch.xml
Restart apache (ap2webrs.ncf) and tomcat (java -exit, tomcat4, tcadmup)
On Linux:
1. For Apache, rename /etc/opt/novell/httpd/conf.d/QFSerchApache.conf
2. For Tomcat, rename /var/opt/novell/tomcat5/webapps/qfsearch.xml
restart Apache and Tomcat

Pages slow to load or do not load, then time out, sometimes stopping page from loading will reveal it or stopping and refreshing it, though not always.

pages will not always load or take forever, if i stop it from loading and refresh it it may load right away though not always. It is like the old days @ 33K, never used to happen, basically have all the same plugins have always had.
has been doing this for several months now, finally can't take it any more, all malware, virus, scans are clean, settings are the same for last ? years.
do get script problems from time to time but not very often.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

5) If the application showing in the menu is not the one with which you wish to open the file then select a new application. If your application does not appear there then select the "other..." and track down the application (usually in the Applications folder at the main level of the computer).
6) If you wish to change all files of this type to open with this application in future, make sure the "change all" button is selected.

Stop Video from loading automatically...

Hi Everyone,
I have a VideoDisplay control that I want to play some video,
however I want to control when the video to be played should load.
At the moment, video is automatically loaded even though autoplay
has been set to false. Stopping the video from playing doesn't seem
to stop it from loading. Can I stop the video from loading at all?

How can I stop Firefox from loading automatically when I startup my computer?

A while ago I setup Windows so Outlook and Firefox opened automatically when I log on. Now I want to stop FF from opening automatically. I have gone into the Startup folder and removed the shortcut to FF several times but it keeps coming back. I changed the name of Mozilla Firefox in the Windows Programs Directory to xxMozilla Firefox and that didn't keep it from loading. If necessary, I will remove FF from my computer altogether but I would rather not do that.

Aaarg! I tried Matt's suggestion of using msconfig, restarted my computer, and it seemed to solve the problem. Today when I turned on the computer it hung up before loading Windows. I had to use the F12 button to get it to load. I did and it did and Firefox did not load.
Now, this evening, I turned on the computer, the startup procedure was normal, and there's Firefox fired up and ready to go!

Spotify Updates Stop Spotify From Loading

I'm having issues with Spotify's updates. This will be the third time I have had to fix this problem. Here's what happened: Spotify working fine...Spotify says "restart for the new version"...Restart...Spotify says "installing", type in admin password, error 16, can't install, can't start the program. So I post on here. Solution is to uninstall, delete all spotify files, run CCleaner, reinstall. I do that, it works. Then that all happens again the same week. I do it again. Now it won't start again because it thinks it needs to update. If I open it as the Admin it will open, but not if I open it as a user. Is there a way to stop Spotify from updating or otherwise fix this? I didn't see anything in Preferences to say not to update. I would appreciate any help with this.

I've had the same install location issue (Windows 7) for a few months. Instead of installing to AppData/Roaming, it installs the updates to C:/Users (this includes Spotify.exe, some .dll's, Apps, locales, etc.). Clean installs from SpotifySetup.exe at https://www.spotify.com/us/download/windows/ did not help, but installing from some of the offline installers linked on the forums have helped - until the next update, when the issue returns.

Stop application from loading when unloaded.

When I unload an application say live for example. And a user loads fmle and goes to load the live
application it starts it automatically. How can I prevent this. I want to be able to prevent it from loading
automatically. When a user reaches their bandwidth limit I want to make sure they can't just use the

This has to be coded by hand. As for the live app that is installed by default, you have to remove the main.far file and change up the main.asc file to check if it can start up or not. This part has to be coded by hand, maybe creating a text file or shared object within the app, have it check that on start up for a particular value and reject connections or not based on that. This will only work with the Interactive version.

Stop flash from loading

I've got a flash video(

the page has several different videos and I don't want any to load
unless the user chooses to start it.
I've tried using flowplayer but it doesn't accept that file.
Also the .swf linked above has the controls embedded in the swf
file. Would it be possible to extract and FLV file from that swf or
some other way to get rid of the embedded controls?

Open new FLASH file and on first frame place button which
reads "Load Video" or whatever
is that you find suitable. The action to load it would be
(select button, hit f9 to open
action editor and paste):

Make sure that the empty file with button is in the exact
same size as the video swf file.
Now, this will come on top of the button and the button will
remain active what might confuse
visitors if they hover over the video.
You may want to disable the button or make the main movie
with two frames.
Frame 1 has stop(); action and button with nextFrame();
action than on the second frame you have
the loadMovienum action so the button moves timeline to next
frame and no longer exists and than
it loads the video file.

Why is Quick time loading pdf file and how do I stop it .

I have the same issue with Safari opening Web PDF links in Quicktime. When I click on a PDF URL the Quicktime logo will display in Safari, then the first page of the PDF will come up, and only the first page will be available, there is no way to scroll to subsequent pages. I have not found any settings in Safari, Quicktime, or Adobe Reader to turn that off. How can I get Quicktime to not be the default imbedded reader for PDF in Safari.

I cannot find anything online that addresses this issue. DW
(I've experienced this with all versions from mx to cs3) insists on
loading every single .js file that a page links to when you open it
for editing, regardless of whether you're in code or design view.
It is causing ridiculous slow downs. Not only does it take forever
to open a file that links to .js files, but while editing them, you
can type and watch it take 10 seconds at a time to display each
character you type. Even just clicking tabs to switch between two
open files in the dw window, or trying to toggle between design and
code view can take forever. It's like it is re-loading every single
piece of your open file, including all linked .js files every time
you do anything. If I open/close/edit a file without .js links, it
moves like lightning. No slow downs at all.
If anyone can help resolve this issue, I will be forever
indebted to you and will gladly pay you in the giant coins of the
ancient incas.

Honestly, I've never seen a solution, but then I can't
remember when I've
last seen a complaint, either.

How do I stop photoshop from loading photos

Photoshop has been loading my photos (a 12,000 photo file) for over 18 hours now and I cannot stop it. I think that there is a problem and I would like to just stop it and start over. How do I do this?

move cursor to APPLE logo at top left of menu bar. press and drag down to FORCE QUIT, and then let up. (click on apple logo, drag to force quit....)
A panel will appear, hightlight photoshop to force quit it.
