Stop sound timeline
Hi all
Im very new to flash so please bare with me. Basically im trying to stop sound playing from a timeline. My little swf plays and has music playing from a separate layer. and when i mouse down on it i have action script 3 that jumps to a dif frame and starts playing a new anim and sound layer. but the previous sound layer keeps playing to the end. Is there anyway to stop the sound layer playing at the same time that i jump to a new frame?
thanks for the help
g
SoundMixer.stopAll() will stop all the sounds that are currently playing.

Any way at all to STOP sounds coming through bluetooth?
Whoever designed this should be strung up...
Is there any way to STOP sounds coming through my bluetooth headset? It is so incredibly distracting when I'm on a call and the stupid calendar goes off, I hear an email come in, a text message, etc.
I have an iPhone 4 and Plantronics Voyager Pro.
I know one way is to turn on the mute switch on my iPhone, but I don't want to do that like 8 million times a day.
I'd simply like to NOT hear everything ringing in my ear when I'm trying to have a simple conversation.
Anyone?I'm assuming you have an A2DP compatible headset. If so, see if you can disable A2DP on the headset. You can do so on the Jawbone Icon, not sure about others.
To my knowledge, there is no way to disable A2DP on the iphone itself. -
How stop the timeline via code for some seconds?
Hi NG,
how can i stop the timeline for some seconds? Is there any code exaple for me?
Thanks...
TELLOWhat about using some javascript timing events maybe something like this should work:
function resumePlay() {
sym.play();
function stopPlay(secs) {
sym.stop();
setTimeout(function(){resumePlay()},secs * 1000);
// stop the default timeline for 3 seconds
stopPlay(3);
NOTE: this example ONLY stops the default timeline where the code is inserted. If there are other symbols playing independently, they won't stop. Also, notice it's an asynchronous call, so if an event occurs during the time lapse and triggers a "play" action, the animation will resume immediately. -
Why do I get the 'critical stop' sound when I leave the firefox browser. This doesn't happen when using internet explorer?
Do you mean that there is a problem with closing Firefox?
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Can't stop sounds embbed in movieclips timelines
Hello i have a big problem.
I searched everywhere but no answer.i have a main Movie containing many movieclips with sound atttached in their timeline. When i change to a different frame from my main movie ( Main Timeline) the sound from my old movieclips continue to play. It seems that sounds are still in memory and clips are not garbage collected.
I've tried unloadAndStop from CS4 with flash player 10 but still the same problem? my movie clips will continue to play sounds in different frame from maintimeline. (Even if i deleted them from the canvas in the new frame)
Please help me!!! ThxHi DarkV,
I had the same problem...a few days back....
I was working on an independent flash presentation.
Backgorund music track.
Add to that a whole lot of movie clips...each with their own sound tracks.
One could navigate forward and backward...at the click of a button.
The big problem was...sound from MC 1 used to playback when one was on MC2 or 3 and vice versa.
Posted my query here....Got some very complicated solutions.
Fiddled around. No luck.
The solution is to load the sound as an external movie clips as and when required for each MC when it needs it.
Load the sound in the same level...so that the earlier sound gets totally replaced.
Works beautifully for me.... i have a bkg sound that loops. plus 20 other MCs , each on their own keyframes, - just that the sound for each key frame gets loaded as an external SWF.
Hope that helps..

How do I stop sound from playing when I leave frame?
I have designed a website for an advertising agency using
Flash and ActionScript 3. In the portfolio page, I have several TV
commercials that are available to play. What I need is 1) when the
user leaves the TV ad page, I want the tv commercial to quit
playing (right now, it continues even though the user has moved on
to other pages). and 2) If the user selects a different TV
commercial without first stopping the original one, the sound for
both of the them plays at the same time. I am using the flv
playback component. The video appears to stop, but the sound
doesn't. My TV commercials are external flv files.
I have also made a page for radio ads and I just used play,
pause and stop buttons to control the sound. This page does the
same thing. The sound continues when you move on to another page in
the site. My sound files are also all external sound files.
All of my pages are just individual frames in a main
timeline. Each page has a frame label.
If this is not clear, here is the link to my site:
http://www.hammockads.com
I would appreciate any help anyone can give me with this. I
have tried for weeks now, to solve this problem and I just don't
know enough actionscript or flash to figure it out. I've only been
working with this for a few months.I have my website set up so that the portfolio page occupies
one frame of my timeline. Inside that frame, I have a movie clip
which contains the additional pages of the portfolio section. The
additional pages show examples of the print ads, radio ads, tv ads,
web sites that my client has created. Each of these additional
pages is also one frame of the timeline (this time inside the
portfolio movie clip). When the user clicks a link in the website,
it just takes them to another frame on my timeline.
The entire website is one swf file and each of the pages is
located on one frame of the timeline (either on the main timeline
or inside a movie clip timeline.)
In the tv ads page, I have a button for each of the tv
commercials. When the user selects a specific commercial, then the
actionscript calls that particular ad from an external flv file.
The problem is that when the user clicks another button (to view
another ad or chooses to go to another page in the website (which
involves leaving the current frame in the timeline) the video or
radio ad doesn't automatically stop playing.
I can't really post code, because I'm not sure what code to
post. The TV ads are currently set up using the FLV playback
feature. The radio ads are set up with play, stop, pause and volume
control buttons. When a user here selects a new radio ad, the one
currently playing stops and the new one starts, but when the user
chooses to go to another page without first stopping the ad from
playing, it continues to play.
On the TV ads page, nothing is really working except that the
ad plays and stops when it comes to the end. I'm thinking that I
may need to go back and re-code the TV ads to play without using
the flv playback option.
Any thoughts? I hope this is a little bit clearer. -
How can I stop sound track from being divided when adding clips to other tracks in PrE12?
The situation:
I have a project with several minutes of video clips on the timeline (expert view) in "Video 1/Audio 1." There is also music on the sound track (below the empty "Narration" track).
Any time I make an edit to the Video 1 track, PRE cuts the Sound Track. (Note that this is not the Audio 1 track, it's the sound track which is two tracks away.) If I insert a clip, the Sound Track is cut and left with a gap. Same if I do a FreezeFrame insert. This is bad enough (make ten insertions, have the Sound Track chopped into ten separate pieces), but it gets worse: when I try to slide the Sound Track pieces back together, the Video 1 clips will be moved around.
This appears to be a major bug but I'm hoping there is a simple way to deal with it.
Here's what the Manual (p.71) has to say about it (not much).
"When you insert a clip into the Expert view timeline, adjacent clips on all tracks shift to accommodate the new clip. By shifting all clips together, the audio and video of the existing clips remain in sync."
* The question here is, adjacent to what? The Sound Track is a continuous music clip of many minutes; it is alone on the Track, and there is nothing on the track above it (Narration track). So it's not adjacent to anything, and yet it is being chopped up.
The Manual continues:
"Sometimes, you don’t want all clips to shift with each insertion. For example, when you add background music that superimposes the entire movie, you don’t want clips to shift."
*They got that right, but they don't say anything about how to prevent it.
This next makes no sense at all:
"To shift specific clips togather, press the Alt key as you insert. At a time, you can shift specific clips simultaneously on a maximum of two tracks. These include the track receiving the insertion and the track containing the linked audio or video (if any). The affected tracks shift together, remaining aligned. The clips on other tracks are unaffected."
*There is no mention of how to specify what clips would be shifted, or not.
I'm not dealing with linked clips. And they tell me how to shift clips (sort of) but nothing about how to stop clips from being cut up and shifted. This all makes it very hard to create a coordinated product.
Any suggestions or solutions will be much appreciated.Thanks, ATR,
I wll try this--but I still am unclear on how to do what the Manual says is possible: select clips on another track that WILL be moved, if I so desire, so as to remain synched to the main Video track.
UPDATE:
In the case of inserting Freeze Frame, I just tried both Ctrl method and Alt method, and neither worked.
1. Put Video on Vid1 track
2. Put Music on Sound Track
3. Ran a few seconds of Vid
4. Stopped Vid, selected Freeze Frame
5. Held down Ctrl key while clicking "Insert in Movie" also tried with holding down Alt key.
Result: a 3 second still was inserted int the Vid1 track. A corresponding gap was created in the Sound Track.
6. Slid the final part of the Sound Track to the left along the timeline to re-connect it to the next segment created by the above process.
Result: the video following the final Freeze Frame was pushed to the right end of Video1 track.
7. Slid the Sound Track all the way to the left.
Result: the entire Video 1 Track contents were pushed to the right and divided in pieces.
I documented each step with screen shots which I can send if you want them and if I can figure out how to do it.
UPDATE #2
In the case of inserting a video clip to the Timeline, I just tried both Ctrl method and Alt method, and neither worked.
1. Locate video in Project Assets
2a. R click video in Project Assets (pull-down menu appears), hold down Ctrl, click Insert to Timeline.
Result: Vid clip is inserted on Video 1 track, Sound Track is separated with a corresponding gap.
2b. R click video in Project Assets (pull-down menu appears), push Alt
Result: pull-down menu disappears as soon as Alt is pushed down.
I can stil drag the Vid clip but it's one more manual step...I love shortcuts!! -
Hi..
I have a bit of a problem with sound.. I have a main container animation with background sound that's loaded with soundChannel..
I also have an externally loaded SWFs with Movie Clip buttons that have a sound ON ROLLOVER on the timeline..after rolling off - I place the:
SoundMixer.stopAll(); to stop the button from playing the sound once the mouse is rolled off.. However, the problem I'm running into is that it also stops the sound of the main container movie clip - any suggestions? Thanks a bunch ahead of time!This sound is still giving me problems... agghh... it works well if you mouse over once or twice - but if I mouse over the button over and over, it gets stuck..
The below code is inside a Movie Clip. The MovieClip is stoped at frame 1. When you mouseover the movie clip, it goes to frame 2. That's where I put the following script. On MouseOut it goes and stops on Frame 3..
Any help would be super appreciated - thanks ahead of time!
var blendSound:Blend = new Blend();
var scChannel:SoundChannel = new SoundChannel();
var b:Boolean;
if(!b) {
function stopSoundHandler(evt:MouseEvent):void {
scChannel.stop();
btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OUT, stopSoundHandler);
btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, stopSoundHandler);
btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, stopSoundHandler);
scChannel = blendSound.play(); -
How can I stop sounds in this scenario
Hello, I need help.
I need to load in an external .swf file into my new movie and
stop the sound/music that is playing from the external swf file. I
need the sound/music to stop immediately on frame one. I don't have
the fla to the external swf file as it is years old. Can someone
help me with this? I know there is "stopallsounds();" but I don't
think I'm using it right because it won't stop the sound when I
play the new exported swf.
So to recap - I've loaded in a .swf on frame one (into a
blank movie clip) - and on another layer tried to add the
"stopallsounds();" action - music still plays - HELP!xMrMoox wrote:

Load the swf in movie clip holder and give it instance name
"someNameHere",
than use the sound object to define the instance name as
Sound Object's target
and use the regular volume control to mute it. By setting it
that way you control
the movie clip volume (holder mc) and anything within.
s = new Sound(someNameHere);
s.setVolume(0);
to play it back ON
s = new Sound(someNameHere);
s.setVolume(100);

Need to play and stop sound file with 1 ms resolution
Hi,
I'm trying to open a .wav file then later play it at a time when another parallel loop activates a boolean local variable which controls playback in my "sound" loop. I need high time resolution in stopping the playing of the .wav file, ~1ms. From what I've gathered, I can't use the "sound output write.vi" because it locks the loop until it finishes outputting a set number of samples. Because of this, "sound output stop.vi" has to wait until the next iteration, which is more than ~1 ms.
In the help menu of the Sound Ouput VIs it says you can set the task ID for the "sound output start.vi" using the "sound output configure.vi." Unfortunately I've only been able to use the "sound output start.vi" following "play sound file.vi", and I don't really know why this is the case.
I can't start my sound with the "play sound file.vi" because it locks the loop its in until it finishes playing the sound. Oddly this only happens when there is a parallel loop running, if I run it by itself, with no other loops, it doesn't lock the loop. I thought it might have something to do with the local variable, but the loop doesn't lock when the loop restarts the sound using the "sound output start.vi."
After opening a .wav file, can i use the "sound output configure.vi" to create a task ID for the "sound output start.vi" to work? Or do I have to use the "sound output write.vi" after calling the "sound output configure.vi." The help menu makes it seem like the prior suggestion is possible.
Thanks a lot!Since it sounds like the problem you're running into is getting the data loaded from the file before you're ready to play it, look at the Files sub-palette, specifically the Sound File Read Simple VI. You can use this VI to load the data into a waveform and have it ready for use later in the program.
So in your overall program, read the file with Sound File Read Simple and configure the output with Sound Output Configure and call Sound Output Write when you're ready to play the waveform.

Stop Sounds in HTMLLoader object
I have an AIR application that has an html loader object
(htmlLoader) within it. The page that the html object loads is a
flash AS2 game. The game has a lot of sounds, some very long that
are embedded in the timeline. We don't have the sources for these
games, therefore we can't change them.
What we did is we had an html page that loads the swf with an
object tag and we give it an ID "swfContent"
I am trying to do something like
htmlLoader.window.swfContent.stopAllSounds() (obviously this
is not an actual line of code, but it explains the logic behind it)
Is there a way to do this?You can wrap the sound in another swf and then supress it by
setting the volume to zero like below. Then you could load that swf
in your html.
var t:SoundTransform = new SoundTransform();
t.volume = 0;
swfContent.soundTransform = t; -
song plays but the sound stops on recent downloaded songs, i did delete and redownload with no luck
Try again. If the problem persists contact the iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

Premiere Elements stops playing timeline randomly
Hi,
since some days, Premiere Elements 10 stops randomly the replay of the timeline. Sometimes after 1 second, sometimes 20 seconds. And always on different positions ... between to cuts, at a transition, ... not reproducible.
I'm using PE10 for years with the same machine and the same MOV-Videos from my Canon cameras ... simple cutting, arranging, transitions, nothins spectecular.
My machine is a Window 8 64bit PC, i7 CPU and 8GB RAM with a GeForce 9500GT.
The only thing, I changed was the operating system from Windows 7 to Windows 8 some weeks ago.
Isn't PE10 not compatible with Windows 8? Or what can be the problem behind the random stopping of the replay?
Thanks
KonradThank you Steve, for your fast response.
I don't think, its a mismatch between video and project settings, because:
a) I created new projects, imported the mov-files and where asked to adapt the project settings to match the video (awnsered to do it)
b) I tried many "old" PE10 projects that worked for months ... same result ... stopping replay after some seconds or less.
My camcorders are a Canon EOS 500D and a Canon S95 ... both not connected but imported the plain MOV-files into the PE project.
If I drop the videos into the timeline, there are no redlines above ... only if I apply transitions between to clips there is a small red line as long as the transition.
I also tried to pre-render the workspace by hitting ENTER (a thing I never had to do before) but this also doesn't help. -
Help on how to make a stop sound
i have a little problem, i am creating a web page and my problem here is that on my intro part or home part there is a sound playing
but if i will go to other pages the sound should stop playing.
can anyone help me how to do this..
Thanx in advance:Dif you're using actionscript to create your sound, you should assign a soundchannel using your sound's play() method:
var sc:SoundChannel=yoursound.play();
you can then apply stop() to sc,
sc.stop();
to stop your sound.
or, if you're sloppy and just want a quick fix, you can use:
SoundMixer.stopAll(); -
Stop sound and start over without "pop"
I need to be able to interrupt and restart a short (3-4 second) sound file while it's still playing. Seems simple enough, but with both SoundEngine and AudioServices it causing a "popping" sound as it restarts. Is there any way to avoid this? I tried stopping the sound first with SoundEngine before starting it but it doesn't make any difference. (The waveform for the sound starts at zero, in case you're wondering.) Thanks for any help you can give me on this...it's been driving me crazy.
Yes Craig, my response was assuming you were using AudioQueue - I do not know much about SoundEngine but I see from looking at the code that it is based on AudioQueue.
I disagree with ramping of the volume - it seems to me this is just masking a problem in management of the buffers. Whatever is in your buffer is what will be sent to the output device when you start it. That is why you prime the buffers in the first place. AudioQueue implements a pause. You may want to update SoundEngine to use that rather than do a start / stop. Although if your intention was to restart the track from the beginning you want to use stop then start and will have to make sure the buffers are cleared out and re-primed with data from the beginning of your audio file. I do not know if SoundEngine is set up to properly handle this use case.
