So I was using internet on my iphone (via mobile provider) and I got system update notification in settings, the next day I connected my iphone to my pc and updated it in itunes. Everything was ok, except one little thing, system update notification at settings on my iphone is still here.
Tried:
turned it off
tried holding HOLD button and HOME button
reseted all settings (without deleting contents)
backup from itunes
... but it's still here ... any ideas, or do I need to live with red bubble 1 ??
Thanks in advance !If you can take the pain, you could try kenningar's solution at the bottom of this page. Might help.

Dear All,
I have tried turning off the system update notifications for my G2 and have not been successful so far. I have already tried turning it off via Settings/Application Manager/All. What else can I try here? Thanks.
Regards,
Jeffrey WongUnfortunately that is not possible any longer. My advice is to take the update. You'll have to at some point or either you'll accidentally accept it. The HD voice and video works well between compatible phones. And, if you run into a problem, better now than later.

How do I stop iOS update notifications in the middle of the night?
How do I stop the iOS update notifications in the night. I do not need bright white update message while sleeping.
Settings App > Notification Center > App Store. You can take it out of Notifications altogether, or adjust the settings. (Turning OFF Show in Lock Screen might be enough).

MY QUES SUMS UP THE ISSUE.....I ONLY WANT UPDATE NOTIFICATIONS FOR THE FINAL UPDATE OF A NEW VERSION
You settings and such are in a separate place and not in the Firefox program folder as has been the case since the browser was known as Phoenix 0.1
Your settings like Bookmarks, history and such are in a Profile. If you uninstall Firefox and then install same or another version you will find that your settings are still there since it will use the last Profile used unless selected otherwise upon Firefox start.

Stopping app update notifications
My iPod is too old for iOS 7, so I'm expecting a lot of my apps to get updates that won't work under 6.1.3. I already made the mistake of letting iTunes download a new version of PlayQue that wouldn't work, and had to transfer the old version back from the iPod. Is there any way of stopping iTunes from checking for updates for specific apps rather than have update ribbons popping up in the app window in iTunes for updates that I can't use?
Check the settings for the Play Store and turn off notifications.

Turn off system update notifications...
I updated to the latest, including iTunes, and it was an upmitigated disaster. After one week of iTunes crashing, I restored the previous update with Time Machine. No more problems.
My question is... how do I turn off the crappy constant daily notifications that I should update???
Thanks.Open up your Syetem Preferences and then select the App Store PreferencePane. Uncheck the box next to Automatically check for updates

I have been getting notifications of a new release of Firefox. I think I've been on the beta test user list and I don't want to be on that list anymore. I'm not active enough to be of any use to you folks. Thanks for a great product.
You likely installed what was a one of the Beta builds of a version at time and then been on Beta channel ever since.
A easy way to get back to Release channel is to install Firefox 34 from https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/
Firefox 35.0 is on the Beta channel as there has been six builds so far with nine being the average. -
How to stop update notification for one app (iMovie) that I do not want to update
How to stop update notification for one app (iMovie) that I do not want to update. I do not want iMovie 10 taking up nearly 3 gb on my hard disc. iMovie 9 is just fine and only takes up 1.5 gb. But I get notifications to update and don't know how to turn it off. I've gone into the Purchases tab of the App store and deleted it. I don't want to turn off Update notifications (which is irrelevant in any case because I see no option to do that in Notifications system preference pane). I just don't want to be bugged about iMovie updates. The only option I'm given is to postpone the next reminder until the next morning. -- Franklin
Interesting; never came across that - here is the window I get (just double clicked on a random doc in the trash):

How to stop update notifications for specific software updates
NOTE: I apologize in advance for the extreme length of my post & hope that someone will be willing to read it all & then be willing to help... Thanks!
I have been continually getting a Software Update notification for "Migration Assistant Update for Lion" (described "This update provides compatibility for migrating to a Mac running OS X Mavericks.") for quite a while now. IMHO, I consider my Mac knowledge/tech experience level (on a scale of 1-10, where 10 is a Mac Guru) to be about maybe 6 or 7 on average (&von a good day maybe an 8). That's assuming, of course, something like this can be quantified in that way. LOL! ;-) Anywho, I digress... Back to my question... As a general rule I don't immediately jump & install every single new update that comes out for all of my technology/electronics, no matter if Apple or Google tells me to do so. Obviously, I take all notices regarding security seriously & immediately research (unless it's forced upon me) it thoroughly before installing. This is ESPECIALLY true for apps in Apple's app store or Google Play Store, & I read a lot of the user reviews, as well as trusted tech gurus on the Web. Because NOT EVERY update is truly an improvement (mostly b/c of the failure to FULLY test them before releasing, more like unleashing, them to the public...Microsoft has mastered this FUBAR technique to absolute 'perfection', or something like that...haha!) OY, I'm so sorry for continually getting off topic. Okay, seriously now, here's what I want to know: Is there any way to tell Apple I don't want to install one of their recommended updates & also to stop bugging me about it? I'm specifically referring to the one I mentioned above. Everything I found online about Mavericks made me want to stay VERY FAR AWAY from it. I could be wrong or found bad info, but I don't think so. Please let me know if I'm wrong, because I really want to make the best/most informed decision possible. Thanks!
That being said, today I received notifications about Apple's latest security update (2014-001), plus one for Safari. I plan to install the security update for sure & most likely the one for Safari (even though I stopped using it months ago & started using either Chrome, Opera or Firefox - I still haven't picked a fave, but use Chrome 90% of the time... I'm open to suggestions about these apps too...)... But, I don't want to mess with the "Migration Assistant" one.
I would really love some help from my fellow Mac users... I apologize for being long winded & will try to reign in that nagging writing flaw in future posts. Also, I apologize if I've missed something that's totally obvious & easily found on this or other forums/sites, but I really did try to find an answer before posting my question here...
Thanks Mucho to all of you who were able to read through my mini-novel (& not fall asleep in the process) & actually found my question at the end!! I would like to say "THANK YOU!!" in advance for any & all help y'all are willing to provide!!! :-D
Hope you have a FANTABULOUS day! (^_-) Sincerely, Care ;-)Wow, now that I see how extremely long my post is on screen, I'm a wee bit embarrassed... I'm hoping someone will be willing to overlook this annoying factor & provide a suggestion... :-/ Signed w/shame, Care :-/

Can I stop a system update on my phone once it has started
Can I stop a system update on my phone once it has started
You could switch to airplane mode or shut off if in the middle of the download.
But you don't want to interrupt the install. -
I have an early 2011 Macbook Pro running Lion. I have not had any trouble with computer performance. I do have internet access and am using Firefox to type this. So my connection isn't a problem.
I've had this computer since February-ish, and I've never had problems. However, a few days ago, Safari just quit working. I can open it up fine and it loads with a slight hesitation. However, after about 10 seconds, it just stops loading. There is NO beachball. The loading just freezes.
So for instance, I can open Yahoo. It will open the page fine. But the second I try to load my mail or any other site, it just stops in the loading process. So again, the internet connection isn't the problem.
And I thought, "Oh, I should install the new updates! That might fix it." Wrong. System Updates just sits in the Install phase until I force close it. iTunes will not open (beachball). The App Store opens to a blank page. Even some games don't open.
However, Firefox is fine. And so are most of my other apps.
Will somebody pleeeeeeease help me? I hate this. haha Thanks.Oh and I've tried restarting Safari (multiple times). I've shut down the computer, too. No help.

Setting up and troubleshooting Mail

iPad Mail

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

My Apple TV stopped preparing update about 1/4 of the way into the update. The system says do not unplug your Apple TV while updating. I have waited 24 hours... No change. What do I do?
You can't do much else besides pull the plug. If it causes further problems you should be able to restore as below:
Get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Devices list, and then click Restore.
On the other hand you may be able to simply start the update again. If however the update continues to fail, you should try the restore routine above.
