Stop the last drawn line being automatically selected.

I've recently started using Illustrator (CS3), and I am mostly using the paintbrush tool with a wacom tablet. When I make a stroke, the stroke is automatically selected. When I make the next stroke, I sometimes draw over an anchor point on the previous stroke, it changes the shape of the first stroke...
I found a setting somewhere to stop the stroke I have just made being automatically selected, but now I can't find that setting again... can someone please tell me where to find this setting, thanks.

DoubleClick the Brush tool. Turn off Edit Selected Paths.
(Would that Illustrator's Pen tool had a similar option to disallow its infernal behavior of altering UNselected paths!)

FYI I had to put this link into firefox to reply - because **** back safari just wouldn't register my clicks to any of the links on the post... Despite reloadeing and even restarting my computer. Totally annoying and a massive pain in the ***.
But in terms of my initial query; thanks for responding. But no, this is NOT the cause of the problem. I have auto sync and sync over wifi activated, but have also selected manually manage music and videos. Plus, all of my music and videos are on my macbook, absolutely all of it, so if it my phone was syncing with my macbook everything would still be on the phone. Life would be peachy if my phone jsut copied everything that was on my macbook, but unfortuantely it keeps deleting tracks for no apparent reason.
Any thoughts greatly welcomed, because at the moment i can only conclude that my iphone is crap.

On imac running10.6 I reset factory settings and start up only got logo andspinning wheel. I've tried safe mode w no luck. Tried recovery mode. Just tried shift command and v and the last three lines say dubious permission on file skipping. It stops ther.

I also started in single user mode. Typed in the sbin fsck fy command. Said appears to be ok but also files were modified. When I type reboot it goes back to logo and spinning wheel

Trying to email the last 10 lines of a file in the body of an email

Hi All:
Total PS n00b here.
I'm using PS 2.0 - I am using the "Get-Content | Select -last 10" on a logfile that I want to email. I got the email to work, but the formatting is lost (it's a Robocopy log that lists the details of what got copied/skipped/etc.)
Is there a way to retain the formatting of the last 10 lines?

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. I was able to get it closer using "Select-Object -last 10|%{"$_ <br/>"}. Remember, I'm using PS 2.0 & "-Tail" & "-last 10" wouldn't work w/out "Select-Object".
I had a friend who had a PS script that does $msg.IsBodyHTML = $true and it got it closer.
Here's what it supposed to look like outta Robocopy:

I'd like to get the numbers to line up w/their columns & my manager says he prefers it in the body & not an attachment, but I tried tommymaynard's suggestions, but I don't know how to tell it to overwrite an existing file.

How do I stop the task panes from opening automatically when I open a PDF?
When I open some of my PDFs the task panes open too. I do not want them to as I have never used them in reader for any purpose. I use reader to READ PDFs. I don't need the task panes and don't want them opening when reader starts.

Adobe seem to have decided that they are so important that you must see them. Perhaps because it is their chance to sell you stuff. It seems to vary between releases, are you on the latest? Curiously, many people have no idea how to open and close these panels.

Sorry, I'm sure this would have been asked before, but I couldn't locate it..
When unlocking my iPad, how can I stop it from displaying the last character of my password to everyone in the vicinity? This has got to be the fastest way to find out someone's password (just look at the screen as they type their 'secure' password!?). Having the iPad display your password letter by letter is really not acceptable when working in a non-secure environment.
Is there a setting somewhere, or will this be addressed in a new iOS, or just ignored as a 'that's the way it is'?

iOS on a phone (it used to be argued) doesn't need to be very secure as it is almost entirely phone numbers and email addresses that are being stored. However in recent years when the applications got better, and tablets came out, security became a much bigger issue as more and more people started using the functions of 'smart' phones to store more 'sensitive' data.

Are you suggesting that someone looking over your shoulder can't see the keys that you're tapping with your fingers? In the interest of security, i would never, under any circumstances, enter a password when others are around.

Is there any way to force the "Save As" dialog to automatically select only the filename, not the filename+extension?

Two years later this "bug" (not exactly a bug, but a pain in the butt nonetheless) is still not resolved.
Yes, I'm running the latest version of Firefox (6.0.1). And I'm running it on a MacBook Pro running OS 10.6.7.
The selection is made correctly in other applications; this problem is Firefox-specific, and occurs even when no extensions or plug-ins are installed.
Except that when I had my last computer, I found a work-around somewhere that fixed it, but for the life of me I can't recall what kind, how, or where.
Any help with solving this irritating issue would be greatly appreciated.

The initial view (IV) settings within a PDF file are static tags - they can't be made to dynamically-adapt based on the window dimensions,it's the renderer (Acrobat, Reader, or whatever else is opening the file) that decides if and how it will follow the IV requested by the file header.
It would be possible to use a Page Open action on the first page of the file, which does some nasty math with the various doc.*WindowRect objects to work out how much "wasted" space there is, and then set the doc.layout and doc.zoomType properties - but page actions are a different concept to IV as the zoom will reset itself every time that page is viewed. Users don't like their application apparently fiddling with the zoom level without being told to!

The last YouTube video plays automatically when I launch Firefox

I upgraded to Firefox 13.0. I have several tabs "pinned" including one for YouTube. Now every time I launch Firefox, it automatically plays the last video I played in YouTube, whether I click on that tab or not. How do I stop that from happening? It's highly annoying. Thanks.

Right-Indenting the last paragraph line in a Table Of Contents entry

I'm using CS4 In Design.
I'm trying to format the paragraph styles for my Table of Contents.
I have the tab leaders working, everything looks good except that I have entries that have multiple lines, and I can't find a way to format the TOC paragraphs so that the lines BEFORE the last line are right-indented more than the last line (which of course contains the tab leads and page number).
I'd like to not have to go into my text and manually add Right Index Tabs in every heading instance that will be pulled into the TOC.

shift-return. I usually finesse TOCs after I think the client is mostly
done with correcting.

two tabs, if you want to right-align the ends of the leaders) your
numbers should right-align on the tab setting. Exactly. Nothing should

How to remove the last new line in text area ?

I have a calculator Applet that shows the calculation in a text area.
if i enter 2+6, the text area shows
2+
6
and i have a clear last button, which deletes the last entry by user.
in the example above, one hit of clear last, deletes 6. another hit should delete +.
I can delete the numbers, but I don't know how to go back to the previous line and delete the operator.
I may have other calculations in that text area above the current calculation. so replaceAll("\n","") would not work here.
Please someone help me here.

so i thought for deleting an operator i should use something similar, where i need to go back to the previous line and delete it,

I am downloading the one internal table content using the GUI_DOWNLOAD to a text file(.txt). The cursor is in last position of the text file where there is no content. For example consider the below is downloaded txt file:

In above the internal table content first three lines..
Once I press page down in the text file, the cursor goes below the third line..(i.e., next to the last line)
How to avoid that ?

I really want to STOP the main volume slider in Logic 7.2 from being controlled by the main output volume knob of my Novation A-Station (external hardware synth).
How do I just STOP that slider in Logic from responding to ANY midi messages?

Is there a simple way of just stopping a slider or other control (like PAN for example!) from being controlled by MIDI ? I just want to be able to choose the thing in Logic and tell it "NO!! you will not be controlled by anything other than my mouse!!"
I now notice that another knob on my Edirol Keyboard is controlling the main track PAN in Logic!
