Stop Updater for 8.2.4
When I upgraded to Acrobat 9 professional, I deleted Acrobat 8 from my Mac. Now every time I reboot the computer, I get the bouncing update notification to update Acrobat 8.2.4, which is not on the computer. If I click yes, I then get an error message that says "Error 1301 - contents modified since original installation. Reinstall Acrobat and check for updates again."
ADOBE - HOW DO I STOP THIS NONSENSE???? Where on the computer is the updater so I can delete it?
This is REALLY IRRITATING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please try the following steps:
1.Go to <user>/Library/LaunchAgents folder.
2.Delete any plist file starting with “com.adobe.ARM”
3.Again,Launch Acrobat 9.
The update notification should not come now on restarting..
If issue is still not resolved,please repost in Acrobat forum for Mac

Are apple going to stop updates for the iPhone 3GS
I was just wondering if anyone could tell me if apple are going to stop the updates for the iPhone 3GS and will the apps always work with this iPhone?
At some point in time it's inevitable that the iPhone 3Gs will reach end of life and will no longer be capable of handling updates to iOS, just like the 3G and original iPhone before it.
When is not known, but eventually, it's a near certainty. Just like you can't get updates for older Android phones that no longer meet the minimum requirements for the new versions, or factory original parts for your 1968 Dodge Dart. -
HT2404 How do I stop updates for non-existent hardware?
I keep getting HP printer software updates for a printer I have not owned or used for several months. All software for that printer has been removed from my computer. How do I get Apple or HP to stop sending those updates?
Outside of looking in /var/db/receipts there are generic printers in /library/printers for many different printer manufacturers. But since they are automatically installed as part of the original OS install--and this is only an educated guess--I don't think Software Update would be looking at those. (Although, I just reinstalled my HP software and I notice several new files at that location.) If it did, you'd be getting notices for updates for many different printer brands, that is, assuming other brands put out updates through Apple.
I assume you removed Hewlett-Packard from /Applications and from /Library/Applicaton Support.
Basically a long winded answer to say I don't know. -

Here are the descriptions for the different reset settings:

To remove VPN settings installed by a configuration profile, choose Settings > General > Profile, then select the profile and tap Remove.
Reset the keyboard dictionary: Choose General > Reset, then tap Reset Keyboard Dictionary. You add words to the keyboard dictionary by rejecting words iPad suggests as you type. Tap a word to reject the correction and add the word to the keyboard dictionary. Resetting the keyboard dictionary erases all words you've added.
Reset the Home screen layout: Choose General > Reset, then tap Reset Home Screen Layout.
Reset the location warnings: Choose General > Reset, then tap Reset Location Warnings.

How do i stop updates for email?
So I use my email sparingly, usually for shipping notifications when I go shopping and simple things. I have alot of newsletters and constantly get email.... I don't want to know every single time i get an email.... how do i make it stop ?
Open the email application, press menu and then check the settings for sync schedule or settings. Then change it to check every couple of hours or whatever you want to be notified of emails.

My iPod Touch 3G is running ios 5.1.1 and the music library isn't aphabetical. It's all messed up. I could post a picture if needed. I wanted to see if Apple could create a ios update just to fix this.
I doubt it. Based on past experience once Apple stops updates for a mode iPod there are no more. This is based on the 1G and 2G iPods.
You are not addressing Apple here. We are all just users like yourself. -
The DTM version has been upgraded to 4.5
my 8707v's handheld device software is still 4.2
Did RIM stop updating for 8707v or is there any possibility that any handheld device software update for 8707v in the future?
It seems like DTM update was only for Bold and few other BBs..when I go to https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/browseSoftware.do this link and chose 8707
I only see 4.2 version.
My blackberry is 8707v and branded as Vodafone but unlocked.(bought from Vodafone Australia)
Is there anyway that any higher version avaibable than 4.2 or is Handheld software 4.2 is the highest version available so far.
I don't understand cuz when 4.3 released there was no update in handheld software for 8707 either -
Mail has completely stopped updating RSS feeds
I have numerous RSS feeds subscribed to in Mail, and they have all stopped updating (for several days now).
Trying to manually tell them to update does nothing. Also, if I try and add new feeds, it doesn't even grab the articles in the new feeds.
Anyone know how to reset this?Unfortunately I don't have a great answer for you.
Once I found the folder inside the root level Library/Syndication. Another time I found it inside Users/Library/Syndication. When I had the problem, I trashed this folder, then relaunched Mail.
I still have the problem once in a while, and either Syndication folder has not been re-created. When it happens, I quit and relaunch Mail, and it seems to clear it up.
It's really a pain in the neck. I don't know what's causing it. I don't know what else to suggest if you've already trashed both/either Syndication folders and then quit and restarted Mail. -

Thanks for that 'sberman' - because my iPhone is backed-up to my work computer (only at this stage) I have had to call our IT Department in Adleaide. (4 times this morning). The last guy managed to get the phone into 'DFU Mode' - no more recovery mode screen - (kind of 'asleep' perhaps) from my understanding of same. I am awaiting a call again from IT so they can get my computer to actually recognise my iPhone on the C Drive. This also happened to one of my colleagues in Newman (WA). She got so frustrated with the whole process that she bought another phone the next time she was in 'civilisation.' She hasn't had any problems since. (Cross fingers).

I get a message that an update is available and when I install it the update stops half way through and I get the error code: U44M1I210 for Camera Raw and Elements 13.1 updates. I get the message "UPDATES COULD NOT BE APPLIED" Can someone help with this? Thank you. David

I have not seen much in the way of alternatives coming from Adobe on the Premiere Elements 13.1 failed updates.
But there seems to be several discussions on U44M11210 in the CC products...one

You could try the uninstall, free ccleaner, reinstall with antivirus and firewall(s) and then try for the Help Menu/Update for 13.1..

The CC people seem to have the advantage of an online download of their update as well as the one via the Help Menu/Update.
Premiere Elements does not have that perk - update only via Help Menu/Update.

How to stop update notifications for specific software updates
NOTE: I apologize in advance for the extreme length of my post & hope that someone will be willing to read it all & then be willing to help... Thanks!
I have been continually getting a Software Update notification for "Migration Assistant Update for Lion" (described "This update provides compatibility for migrating to a Mac running OS X Mavericks.") for quite a while now. IMHO, I consider my Mac knowledge/tech experience level (on a scale of 1-10, where 10 is a Mac Guru) to be about maybe 6 or 7 on average (&von a good day maybe an 8). That's assuming, of course, something like this can be quantified in that way. LOL! ;-) Anywho, I digress... Back to my question... As a general rule I don't immediately jump & install every single new update that comes out for all of my technology/electronics, no matter if Apple or Google tells me to do so. Obviously, I take all notices regarding security seriously & immediately research (unless it's forced upon me) it thoroughly before installing. This is ESPECIALLY true for apps in Apple's app store or Google Play Store, & I read a lot of the user reviews, as well as trusted tech gurus on the Web. Because NOT EVERY update is truly an improvement (mostly b/c of the failure to FULLY test them before releasing, more like unleashing, them to the public...Microsoft has mastered this FUBAR technique to absolute 'perfection', or something like that...haha!) OY, I'm so sorry for continually getting off topic. Okay, seriously now, here's what I want to know: Is there any way to tell Apple I don't want to install one of their recommended updates & also to stop bugging me about it? I'm specifically referring to the one I mentioned above. Everything I found online about Mavericks made me want to stay VERY FAR AWAY from it. I could be wrong or found bad info, but I don't think so. Please let me know if I'm wrong, because I really want to make the best/most informed decision possible. Thanks!
That being said, today I received notifications about Apple's latest security update (2014-001), plus one for Safari. I plan to install the security update for sure & most likely the one for Safari (even though I stopped using it months ago & started using either Chrome, Opera or Firefox - I still haven't picked a fave, but use Chrome 90% of the time... I'm open to suggestions about these apps too...)... But, I don't want to mess with the "Migration Assistant" one.
I would really love some help from my fellow Mac users... I apologize for being long winded & will try to reign in that nagging writing flaw in future posts. Also, I apologize if I've missed something that's totally obvious & easily found on this or other forums/sites, but I really did try to find an answer before posting my question here...

Keep getting an HP update for 10.6.8 and I'm on Lion. How do I stop this?
My MacBook Pro came with OS Lion installed, but almost every day, I get a notification to download and update for the previous OS for my HP printer. How do I stop this from trying to install on mt system?
Open Software Update and, while it's doing its check, open its Preferences from the Software Update menu (beside the Apple menu). in Preferences, click the Installed Software tab. Is the HP update listed there?
Do you have an HP printer? I suspect so, because I don't, and I never get notified about HP printer updates. Software Update does keep me posted on Epson and Brother updates, because I have Epson and Brother printers, but I never hear about updates for Canon, Lexmark, Kodak, Samsung, etc. If by some chance you don't have any HP printers, you might go to Mac HD/Library/Printers and just delete the HP folder that you'll find in there. SU can't update software that you don't have. -
Trying to download the latest update for Epson printer/scanner but although it starts (up to about 5KB of 26.8MB) it stops without completing. The download list shows it is installed ( 8 times!) but there is nothing in Finder downloads. What can I do to download this update
