Stop users to use asset related to other profit centers

Hi Gurus
We are having several plants in our company codes
Each plant is linked to unique profit center.
Assets are purchased in all the plants, In asset master we give cost centers and plant. At the time of creating purchase order in ME21N users of one plant can select asset of other plant.
As a result financial entry goes to profit center for which Asset has been created.(Profit center derived from cost center)
Please tell how to stop the users to use the asset code of other plant/profit center.

Hello,
You can try to restrict the user by creating different rules.
Where you have number of organizational units but similar transaction codes, then I would suggest you go with dervied role concept.
Please speak to your security team with the requirement.

How do I stop users from using the standard inbuilt VPN connection in Windows

We have a UAG Portal setup to check the security of users computers etc then if it is all correct they are presented with the log in and once logged in the are connected to the corpirate network via a SSTP connection. The all works fine but the issue

How to stop user from using 961 mvt type in MB1C transaction code?

We have two companies. Already we have restricted end user for using 961 & 962 mvt type in MB1C transaction code in one company code 1000. Now, we want to restrict end user for using 961 & 962 mvt type in MB1C transaction code in other company code 1200.
I have checked configuration using OMJJ transaction. But, it is there so there may be some different way of control.
Can any body help me?

Hi,
To restrict/block the movement type, the steps are:
1. use transaction code OMJJ.
2. Enter the movement type you want to block.[From 961 To 961](do for both961& 962)
3. Select the Second option in the List which appears in the left. (Allowed Transaction).
4. Remove the transaction codes (MB1C)from where you do not want to use that particular movement type& save.
For user specific to block the movement type, pl consult Basis Consultant.

Creating Multi-use hierarchy or display of profit centers

I am trying to create a per unit report by profit center for my system. I have multi acute care facilities that all use the same first four digits for their profit centers. My report currently has multiple columns of data by profit center, see below

When I change the company code from 0001 to 0010, I get the data for the profit centers under company code 0010. What I want to do is display the two individual profit centers and then add those two profit centers or a range of profit centers (1234 - 1244) for any company code and display a total, like below

Hi.
So basically, you want to make a selection on the profitcenters and keep it constant, while displaying what is posted on this/these profitcenters across a selection of company codes?
You can do this with a variable for profitcenter and a variable for company code. But I would consider fixing the profitcenter keys by removing the last four characters, which represent the company code. Assuming the controlling area (the compund key of profitctr) for any one profitcenter is the same in each company code, you dont have to worry about the controlling area. If it's different for each comp code (so, maybe the last four digits in the profitcenter keys also represent controlling areas??), you can create a variable for controlling area instead of comp code.
If you cant do it by controlling area, because the different comp codes are in the same area, then put the last four digits of the profitcenter keys in the comp code and make a variable on compcode and one on profitcenter and select on both. Put both chars in the rows (pctr, cc) and you get the breakdown you want.

How to list postings by other profit centers into my profit center

Gurujee and SAP experts,
We are a big FMCG company, called BCompany. All branches in different cities are their own profit centers under one Company code. A city from X profit center can post items in my profit center call it Y. E.g if profit centre paid an expense on behalf of Y profit center, X profit center will credit its bank account and debit Y profi center's expense account.
Now I would like to spot out all transactions which were posted in Y profit center by staff of say other branches - i.e. non-Y profit centers
Grateful with many thanks if you guide me How to list and print such listing.

Profit center : of the plant for which posting is required to be displayed
Partner Profit center : Profit center who had posted the same

Hi Joseph,
Acturally at the end of certain period, payables/receivables will be updated with the profit center using the TCode: 1KEK. the program searches for the profit center in opposite line item in each document and updates the payables/receivables line item with that profit center.
But in your case you want to transfer the payables/receivables from dummy profit center to other profit center. You can transfer the amount from one profit center to another profit center using the TCode: 9KE0.

Can't Use Video with other Mac users who use AIM

I know that ichat is compatible for video chats with other pc users who use aim, but does it work with other mac users who use aim?
Everytime I try to chat with my friend, I get an error message when trying to start of a video chat.
BTW, I use a iMac G5 with an isight camera.

For a Bit of Clarity.
AOL have their Instant Message App. referred to as AIM.
Apple decided and did a deal with AOL that iChat could join their service Buddy Lists.
On these Discussions we tend to refer iChat as Logging into AIM, as they are the servers that the Buddy Lists are held on.
As iChat can also use Bonjour and Jabber, both of which have their own Buddy list window on your Mac. The Jabber side needs you to have a Jabber screen name - so again people differentiate between this and the AIM side.
I would guess you friend is trying to make it clear that she is using the AIM side of iChat as opposed to the Jabber side.
As has been said already, the Application side of things also tend to get referred to generically as "AIM" as well.
The Mac version has stopped and 4.7 and will only Text chat.
The PC side needs 5.9 to clearly Video or Audio chat with a Mac using iChat. (AIM 6.0 is not stable enough to A/V chat to iChat).

Will apex_application.stop_apex_engine affect other users to use that APEX?

Hi, guys:
I wonder if I call apex_application.stop_apex_engine to execute wpg_docload.download_file in order to download RTF file, would it affect other users to use that APEX application at the same time? I checked the article and did experiment, I think it won't, but I still want to get your comments about it.

It simply stops further APEX page processing of the current request. This is necessary because you want to send the contents of a downloaded file, or redirect it to a new resource, not display an APEX page.

Stopping Users from Web Surfing Externally Using IE?

We have a lot of legacy internal application that can only be accessed using IE.
Due to the recent Microsoft announcement concerning IE versions and support/patching. We want to stop users from surfing externally using IE, is there a policy setting (or proxy config, host file mod etc.) that we can use to force this?

block your firewall for port 80/443 explicit and then open only required ports for your requirements.
For controlling internet access you have the need for proxy server. A free proxy server is SQUID

With iPad 2 I can use Messages to text other iPhone users, but not others.

I can use iMessage with all iPhone uses except for ONE person. That person can use iMessage with all other users, but not with ME. What's the problem???

This person can use iMessage with pther people, but when they send me a message, it always goes as a text. Why can we both communicate with other people using iMessage, but not with one another?

1) If you have OD set up and "editor" has UID 1111, then when they log in to any machine that's bound to OD as editor, they will get UID 1111. Therefore, there won't be any of these permission errors. This is typically the recommended approach.
2) I assume you mean "You'd prefer to not using open directory?" Whatever the case, OD isn't mandatory with Xsan -- it's just that with multiple user accounts, managing them centrally tends to be easier. For 3 or 4 accounts and 3 or 4 machines maybe it's no big deal. If you go larger, it could get a lot more complicated. That said, if you set it up such that each machine has the exact same set of users (as you said, Mary = UID 502, Fred = UID 503, William = UID 504), then you can do what you want. Mary can log in from multiple machines at the same time, and in general you won't have permissions problems. Of course, if you try and read and write the same file from multiple workstations at the same time, you will get file locking issues, which will prohibit somebody from successfully writing the file.
File locking issues are different from general permissions errors. The former basically says "hey, someone else is editing this file. Therefore I won't let you edit it right now... you can read it if you want though." Permissions means somebody saves it, and Xsan thinks you saved it and own the file, when you really don't.
