Stopped Jobs with Xerox Phaser 4500

When I try to print to the Phaser 4500 via USB, the print job stops. I reinstalled the latest driver, but makes no difference. Then I tried to connect to the printer via an ethernet cable. (Do I need to use a crossover cable?) I couldn't get to the point of adding the printer. I'm told Appletalk isn't activated, and it is. Any suggestions?

Your Mac can sense crossover or not, so that doesn't matter. If I don't guess correctly here, we'll need to know more about your connections, network, internet, etc.
In order for appletalk to work (on OS X), the interface (ethernet or wireless) must be working - to be working, an interface must have a valid IP address (not one that starts 169.x.x). Your ethernet is probably trying to get an automatic IP address (via DHCP), but it can't when connected only to the printer. You need to manually setup in Network Prefs > show built-in ethernet > TCP/IP tab. Configure IPv4 Manually. Enter a local-only IP address: 192.168.5.5. Re-check that Appletalk is on.
Now try adding in Printer Setup.

  • STOPPED JOBS with expdp and dbms_scheduler

    Hello.
I am working with the 10g release 2 in a RAC enviroment, and i am trying to put an export job at the scheduler.
To launch the export i have make a shell script, then first exec the export process and after launch a bzip2 command to compress the resultant dmp file.
The problem is that the export process finish ok, but it don't compress the file, because the scheduler mark the job as STOPPED.
    The log say:
REASON="Stop job with force called by user: 'SYS'"
and the expdp S.O process that launch the extjobo stay runing for ever, like if it was waiting for the expdp to exit and it can`t so the script never arrive to the part that compress the file.
I put the script that i make to export the schema:
    #!/bin/bash
    export ORACLE_HOME=/opt/oracle/product/10.2.0/db
    export PATH=$PATH:$ORACLE_HOME/bin
    export DIRBACK=/ORACLE/BACKUPS/BMR/Dumps
    export dia=`date +%d_%m_%Y_%H_%M_%S`
    export LOG=dump_backup_bmr_$dia.log
    cd $DIRBACK
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/expdp userid=oracle_backup/orabck@BMR dumpfile="BMR_BMR_$dia.dmp" schemas=BMR directory=Dumps logfile=$LOG
    cd $DIRBACK
    /usr/bin/bzip2 -f --best ./BMR_BMR_$dia.dmp
    cd $DIRBACK
    /bin/mail -s "DUMP BACKUP BMR DIARIO [$dia]" [email protected] < ./dump_backup_bmr_$dia.log
I have put several cd $DIRBACK to see if it fail because the script don`t find the dmp file.
Any idea why it STOP after finish the script ?
PD: sorry for my poor english.
    Regards

    Hi,
A stop is only done in two cases - if the user calls dbms_scheduler.stop_job or if the database is shutdown while a job is running. Make sure the database is not being shutdown while the job is running or inside of the job.
If expdp is still running then this suggests that it is hanging. One possibility for that is that expdp is generating a lot of standard error messages and hanging the job (this is a known issue in 10gR2). You can try redirecting standard output and error to files to see if this helps.
    e.g.
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/expdp > /tmp/output 2> /tmp/errors
    Hope this helps,
    Ravi.

  • HAVING PROBLEMS WITH OS 10.6.8 PRINTING WITH XEROX PHASER.  MacPro crashes when printer warms up. Does anyone have a solution? 6360 DN

I've been using Macs since 1984.  Have been using Xerox Phaser printers for ten years.  But with the last update to OS 10.6.8 last summer, I've had problems with crashing when printing.  My MacPro crashes when printing via ethernet prot with Xerox Phaser 6360DN or when the printer warms up.  Worked fine with OS 10.6.7.  Internet postings suggest this is a common problem for all Mac users with Xerox Phaser printers.  Apple put out an update to 10.6.8 to address the problem.  I downloaded it but it did not solve the problem.  Have tried all the Xerox drivers along with Apple drivers.  Can't solve the problem.  Xerox says it's an Apple problem.  Does anyone KNOW how to solve the problem?

sorry, just saw that i was accidently in the snow leopard section....i reposted under the correct section. here's the link.

sorry for the inconvenience, i was looking at other posts using search and didn't realize that i was reading the 10.6 board.

  • Xerox Phaser 4500 : "remote host did not accept file (32)"

Am trying to print to our networked Xerox Phaser 4500DT at work. Set it up as an LPR printer as I did with Tiger (setting it up as IPP gives a permission denied error when you try to print), and printed a test page. Worked fine.
Try to print any sort of useful document, however, and I get a "remote host did not accept file (32)" error, when it's spooled about 20% of the document. Anybody run into this, or have any ideas?
I've tried Leopard's built-in 4500 driver, and the Leopard driver from the Xerox website (which seems to be the same version anyway). I've also tried the trick of putting "lp" in the queue name field, which seems to have been the cause of this error for some people. No joy for me, though.

That seems to be an LPD error message, so you could try setting the printer up as either IPP or JetDirect, if the interface supports either one.

  • Printing with Xerox Phaser 3124 printer in leopard

The Xerox Phaser 3124 printer will work with Leopard you have to download and install the
Samsung ML-2510 printer driver for mac.
    Heres the link http://driverscollection.com/?file_cid=38840744151bcd2230775d019ca
(theres a spam checker down the button you need to fill in before it will download)

Update Acrobat 9. I think you need at least 9.2.2 for Windows 7 compatibility. Upgrade to the latest 9.3.4.

  • Xerox Phaser 4500 and Duplex Printing on Solaris 10

    Dear all,
we have installed a Xerox printer on a system running Solaris 10 10/08
    using this command:
    #lpadmin -p xerox_p -s localhost -v socket://IP -m uri -A write -n /usr/lib/lp/model/ppd/system/foomatic/Xerox/xr_p4500.ppd
    -o banner=always -I postscript -u allow:all
The printer is running very well except for printing duplex pages by the lp command.
I tried to print with -o DuplexNoTumble or with -o sides=two-sided-long-edge but without success.
Does anybody know the correct option -o ???? to do duplex printing and/or does one have to modify the xr_p4500.ppd file?
    THX, Rainer

Hi, I faced the same issue, migrating from Windows to MAC and facing this issue in the driver.
I found a workable solution, involving even more manual tasks but works...
Here is how, inside Adobe Reader, but imagine that it would work from other printing apps also:
    1. Select Print, select Booklet
    2. From Booklet subset, select front sides only
    3. Print.
3a. transfer pages into feeder, no turning, flipping, just pick up en in the drawer as they were
    4. Select Print again, under Pages to Print, select More Options
    5. check Reverse Pages
    6. From Booklet subset, select back sides only
    7. Print and a booklet should appear.

  • Xerox Phaser 8860 on Network-How to turn off popup print job confirmations?

I recently upgraded to OS 10.6.4 and as expected I needed to reinstall the drivers for a few peripherals. One of which was the Xerox Phaser 8860 which is on the network. Everything works, but now after each print job prints out a window pops up in the center of the screen notifying me that ::Job### has printed on Xerox Phaser 8860::. It causes no serious problems, but it does knock me out of what ever program I am using. Which can get extremely annoying when I'm drawing and I repeatedly get halted mid (pen/brush) stroke. It stays up on the screen for about a minute and a few times it has remained up. There is an option to close, it simply gets really annoying after the 30th time. Common sense would suggest to not draw while a file is on it's way to the printer, but my work day is a constant flow of drawing, printing, color tests and editing. It's not practical or good for deadlines to stop drawing to wait for a print job to come out and the pop up window to go away.
I tested printing from the other computers, which are PC's using various versions of windows and they all come up with the same pop up window (though theirs come up at the bottom right of the screen). They do not receive confirmation windows from the other printers not on the network.
This suggested to me that this was a setting with the Xerox software. However, I spoke to the technical support for Xerox and they said that the pop up window had nothing to do with their software and claim that it had to be generated by the Mac OS 10.6.4.
I am regularly printing from the following programs:
Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat, Word, and Excel. The pop out window has acquired while printing files from all of these programs. I doubt that has any relation but I thought I'd add it, just in case.
I would very much like to know how to turn this confirmation notification off in OS 10.6.4. Or if anyone has an thoughts on what software could be the culprit.

In CWIS go to Properties > General > Printer Defaults and disable the Startup page  As for garbage prints, That sounds like a PS error. And they are almost always due to improperly embedded fonts. Have all your users switch the following in their drivers (Picture is the global driver, but the regular driver will have the same option.) Essentially by default the printer uses its own locally stored fonts on the jobs, but when the fonts are misunderstood, or unknown it winds up printing wingdings.

  • Xerox Phaser 8400 with lion - wrong ink information

    Hi
I have a Xerox Phaer 8400 directly connected to my network via cable. After the upgrade to lion I get always a question mark when I print a document and when I am information about the Maintenance Kit, Wast Tray and ink status that no ink is in the printer but the status of the Maintenace Kit is displayed correct. When I added the printer with the standard, I got the printer name Phaser8400DP (8f:cb:9a) with the type Bonjour. I added the printer via IP (IPP and LPD) as well with the same result and behaviour.
I think, something has changed in the communication between lion and the Phaer 8400. Printer is recogniesed correct with all features and the printer status itself is displayed correct as well (printer deleted and added new). It is annoying to get a question mark and icon notification when I print a document.
I have found no answer in the internet so far. Does anybody has an idea how to fix this problem?
    Thx for your support.

    Hello,
here is the snmp output from the 6200DP.
It appears that the printer reports the toner levels as -3 and the software sees the low level (19) which is indeed not in the range.
But how can I either tell the system
    to ignore the levels
    interpret -3 as "normal"
    Thanks for your help !

  • Xerox Phaser stopped working

For some reason all three of the computers on my network (all of them upgraded to the most current Leopard version and with all other software updates installed) are no longer able to print to our Xerox Phaser 6180. I've tried just about everything by way of troubleshooting (resetting the network, turning the printer and everything else on and off, deleting and reinstalling the printer), but although the computer will recognize the printer for the purpose of installing it and finding drivers, I am unable to ping it (weird), and efforts at printing stall at 'Attempting to communicate with printer.'
Any thoughts? I called Xerox, and they had absolutely no idea what could be wrong.
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Best,
    Arthur Golden

I don't know, man. I'm having no problems at all printing to a variety of machines. I can even print to my (officially not supported under Leopard) HP inkjets. The only thing even close to a problem that I have encountered is that my Brother MFC440CN sometimes drops off the network, and I have to turn it off and then back on again... but that problem has been there since forever, and affects all machines on the network including WinBoxes, and a simple solution is to just turn it off when it's not in use and turn it on just before use. Saves power and ink, too. I'm simply not seeing the printing problem, or the faxing problem, which I suspect may be a subset of the printing problem.

  • Photoshop Printing Problems with Xerox 7400 Phaser

Cannot get my Photoshop CS5 to print full size documents to Xerox 7400 Phaser.  Prints only 1" thumbnail of anything I send to it.  This is the only program that has any problem with the Phaser and the only printer Photoshop has a problem with.  Unfortunately, it's the only 11x17 color printer in our office.  Anyone else had this problem?
I have exported files to other programs, but that lessens quality of photo work and also defeats the purpose of having an expensive, extensive program for it.

  • Leopard, InDesign CS2, and Xerox Phaser 6120 Broken

I just updated to Leopard andexcept for a few minor burps, most everything is working except printing from InDesign CS2. When I try to print to my Xerox Phaser 6120, in the printer queue window I get the error:
    /usr/libexec/cups/filter/pictwpstops failed
If I look in the CUPS logs, I see this:

It looks to me like xc6120pstops is crashing and dumping core. Or maybe the issue is with pictwpstops . If I switch over to the "Generic" PostScript printer everything works just fine (but I loose duplexing). And no problems printing from other applications, at least yet.
Has anyone else seen a similar problem?

I seem to be having the same problem with my Xerox Phaser 6120 although it is not application specific. xc6120pstops crashes even if I just print a test page. Generic postscript printer works fine. I've managed to set the printer default to use the duplexer via the web interface, but I'd still rather have full access to the driver.
The Crashreporter log (which oddly reports that xc6120pstops is PPC even though it should be Intel) indeed shows a crash, but I don't know how to interpret any of the detailed information:

  • Printing issues on network printer (Xerox Phaser 4500DT)

I need to be able to print to a network printer which is a Xerox Phaser 4500DT. It is simply networked from its IP address. I have the latest driver. Every time I try to print anything the job automatically goes on pause. If I click resume, it does print, but this takes time, every time I print. The URL is "pap://*/Phaser%204500DT/LaserWriter".
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Since upgrading to 10.5.6 I can no longer print multiple jobs to any of my Phaser 4500 machines(N/DT)? If the printer is clear, the job will spool and print.
If more than one job is sent or multiple users print at the same time, the local print queue is changed to 'PAUSE PRINTER' - I have tried printing via Appletalk, Bonjour & IP printing, the same problem occurs.
Why does 10.5.6 not allow you to spool and queue a print job any more? This is VERY frustrating in a busy office with multiple users attempting to print at the same time! - Any advice would be gratefully received!

  • Xerox Phaser 6110 Not working after lion

I've updated to Lion but i now cannot print on my networked Xerox Phaser 6100 printer. I know that previously i had to have rosetta installed as per the instuctions on Xerox website and everything worked fine. It's just since the update that it has stopped working. The print jonb goes into the queue as normal and just sits there without being printed. If i click on resume i get a message saying "/Library/Printers/Xerox/Phaser6110/rastertoxrx failed".
    Any ideas please?

I have the xerox phaser 8560:
    I also installed Lion at work here;
everything was working fine with the 1.2 driver under snow leopard.
After the lion install, pressing the print button didnt do anything (paused).
I then downloaded and installed the new xerox lion driver (2.09) which at the end of the installation process asks me to locate my printer which i did using its IP address.
Now, trying to print, it doesnt pause anymore, the print job does proceed to the queue, but i get the error 'printer out of ink', which is definately not the case as it printed fine under snow leopard.
Anyone know a solution/workaround for this?
    Thanks in advance!!!
