Stopped receiving mails after October 6th.

For some reason I stopped receiving mails after the 6th of October. Just out of the blue. No settings changes was ever made on my side.
This applies to anything using iCloud, be it iOS, my Mac or icloud.com.
Any clues/hints?
I remember this happened in June as well and Apple said for you to change your account ID or something, but those settings (from MobileMe) no longer exist. There`s no account page that I can find.
I know I am missing out on important email, work email even, so I need this fixed ASAP

Try following the instructions in the below thread to fix the issue.

  • Mail Stops Receiving Mail After Awhile

I just installed Leopard today, and all of a sudden Mail isn't working properly. I didn't change any of the POP or STMP settings from the last version -- of Mail, and of my system. When the computer first starts up, Mail works fine for a while. Then it simply stops being able to retrieve e-mail from my server. I can still send mail, just not receive it. The only thing that helps is restarting the entire machine. HELP!

I think I may have solved this problem (hanging after receiving 24 messages in my case) on my mac. I found this solution posted to some other thread, can't remember which one. I looked at the console and it was littered with references to address book. Someone suggested exporting the address book to an archive and then reimporting it. I did this and I've finally received mail that has been sitting there since Halloween. I'm so happy to finally have mail back. Hopefully this solution will work for others with the problem receiving mail. Looks like the community has triumphed where Apple wouldn't step up. Thanks to all, Brian

  • Mail Stops receiving mail after phone in standby for a while.

We are currently running Exchange 2003 SP2. We have direct push enabled on our server.
I have setup an iphone to use one of our exchange account and mail is received straight away on the phone. However once the phone has been on standby for a while (Cant give exact time) mail stops coming through on the phone. As soon as you bring the phone out of standby and do something on the phone the missing mails come through. We know there is nothing wrong with our server as we have a WM6 device that constantly receives the same mail.
    Anyone else had same issues?
    Settings on phone are :
    iPhone 3G
    2.0 (5A347)
    Wifi is disabled
    Push is enabled
    3g is enabled

We upgraded to Exchange 2007 and upgraded phones to Latest OS and problem seems to have gone.

  • Mac Mail stops receiving mail after Shut down.

It's hapend occasionally ever since Apple switched on iCloud and i moved from mobile me to iCloud. But now it seems everytime i shut my computer down at the end of the day then turn on in the morning i find Emails have stoped being recieved from iCloud.
I try taking accou ts offline then back online to try and kick it inot action. I've tried Syncronize with iCloud with no results.
The only solution seems to be to delete the iCloud account from preferences which deletes every email from my Mail client, then recreating the iCloud account. The result is that Mail then syncs and downloads all my emails again from iCloud but at least it starts working again.
But if i shut down my computer for the night, the problem is repeated.
I know, so from now i wont shut down the computer, ill just put in sleep mode. Just thought i'd let others know whats happend to me in case it's of help.

Carolyn,  I have done this but as soon as It starts back up, the same problems occur. Update requests a restart, mail cancels.

  • Mail stops receiving messages after a period of time

Every since installing Mavericks my Mail app stops receiving messages after a period of time. I know because I get the email on my phone, but I try to grab them in Mail and nothing. If I restart Mail then they come through.
I'm using Gmail as my email provider. Is anyone else suffering with this? Is there a work around?

Workaround or not, this is an annoyance, and that's a nice way of putting it. Coming from Mountain Lion, when Mail was working flawlessly, having to deal with this issue is just plain ridiculous. What happened to the Mail application? I don't understand how Apple could screw this up to badly.
Every time I restart or reset the connection to the servers, the Mail app is downloading thousands of messages (I can see the display on the bottom-left). I have no idea what it's doing or why, for that matter. If Apple doesn't fix this soon, I will seriously be forced to look for an alternative, which saddens me greatly. I really like Mail, but if it cannot reliably get my mail simply because I've left it open too long, or hidden it behind another window, I will stop using it.
What's worse is that I've had similar issues with other applications like iPhoto and iTunes. Whatever is happening to Mail is probably not just application-specific. It's probably OS-specific. I hope Apple is working on it and that we will see a major update to Mavericks soon. All I know is that, right now, I'm seriously regretting upgrading to Mavericks.

  • Mail won't quite without "force quite" , Mail stops receiving emails after a while, not happy about MAIL's performance!!!! :(

I have massive problems with Mail.
I use mail at work and have 3 accounts running
    1. Mac. mail account
    2. Gmail mail account
    3. Exchange Server
I have quite a few folders in my accounts where I have to archive my emails to.
Often very often or lets say annoyingly too often mail stops working.
    - stops receiving emails
    - emails I have put away in folders disapear in my inbox again
    - if I try to quite Mail it won't I have to force it and then when I open it again all my emails I was working on open again even so I have sent them already. Also all the emails I have folded away are back in my inbox WHAT A WAIST OF TIME!!
I AM VERY UNHAPPY ABOUT MAILS PERFORMANCE AT THE MOMENT! IT SIMPLY DOESN'T WORK!
Does anyone have the same problems and more importantly does anyone has a solution to this problem other then switching to Outlook???
    Thank you!
    Oliver

I have the "stops receiving mail" problem with Exchange.  Sometimes I can open up the Activty window in Mail and stop  the stuck processes. Other times I have to close then reopen Mail.  I usually do the latter. A fix would be nice.
I wonder if your other problems are related to this. The actual process of relocating your messages is maybe queued up behind one of the stuck processes. Just guessing. I have not had that problem.

  • My Mac has stopped receiving mail. Mail is still coming through to my iPhone and my wife's iPad but is not appearing on my mac. I have mail from today on the phone but nothing newer than 18 Feb on the Mac. I have not touched any settings. Can anyone adv

My Mac has stopped receiving mail. I have a mac.com address. Mail is still coming through to my iphone and my wife's ipad but nothing is coming through to my imac.I have mail from half an hour ago on the phone but nothing newer than 18 Feb on the mac. Everythng was working fine until recently and I have not touched any settings! Can anyone help?

So I tried something else recently and it seems to have fixed the issue. My mail is now getting new mail again and refreshing after waking from sleep without having to restart mail. Give it a try and hopefully it will help you too.
First, make sure your Mailbox List is visible (Shift + Control + M). Then select all of your inboxes, mailboxes, and folders (not just the root folder for nested folders, make sure to select them all). Then under the "Mailbox" menu, select "Rebuild."
It may take a while to rebuild them all if you have a lot, but like I said it seems to have done the trick for me. I hope that proves to be more of a long-term solution.

  • Suddenly stopped receiving mail on OS 10.4.4

We just got this computer this month and I've been getting my email fine up until yesterday. Now if I click "get mail" it searches, but doesn't add new mail. There are not messages telling me what is wrong, either. Just the received mail "ding". I've sent myself an email and it zoomed out okay, but I didn't receive it. There are two other users on this computer and both get their emails with no trouble.
    Please help!!
      Mac OS X (10.4.4)

I tried this and about 2 weeks of emails downloaded to my iMac--but nothing for today or yesterday.
FYI: I stopped received emails after my husband loaded the new update for Mail. He and my son still get email--but I can't. Could it be that I answered the prompts when I started Mail after the upgrade incorrectly? If so, what can I do?
Sending mail doesn't seem to be an issue--just receiving it.
Imac Core Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.4)
Thanks again for all your help!

  • Thunderbird 31.3.0 for MAC stop receiving mails via POP3

Both my gmail account was stop receiving mails via POP3 via Thunderbird 31.3.0 after 01 Jan 2015.
Previously everything work properly, no changes in Thunderbird client or at gmail settings.
Global re index of Thunderbird database was performed.

I solved the problem by changing Account Settings / Server Setting changed the port to 995 (default was 110) and the security to SSL. (Not sure how the upgrade changed these settings).

It happened a mail 78. So I deleted the corresponding mail from the server and another similar looking one as well. Now the problem happened downloaden mail 76, which of course was a different mail than the one which caused the error at first. I then created a new account in mail.app which downloads from the same mail account and the problem happens there as well.
    It is a POP account.
I then tested what's happening if I create a new user in Mac OS X and use Mail.app in the new account. This works.
So the problem is limited to my user account and there to all mail accounts going to the same POP server/user.
Do you have any ideas what could cause this behaviour and how I can solve it?
    Bye

Welcome to the forums Oliver... good work at narrowing the problem down so far!
Try dragging this file to the Desktop and reboot...
    /Users/nnnn/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
Might also pay to clean caches, I use Applejack, but there are many. The log makes me think cache especially.

  • Cannot send or receive mail after installing iOS6 on iPhone4

Cannot send or receive mail after installing iOS6 on iPhone4.
All email accounts are still fine and not lost but ever since I installed iOS6 I cannot send any new email and I am not receiving either. That includes my Exchange, Yahoo  and Hotmail. I didn't loose any old email in my Inboxes.
    Can someone help please. thanks.

I am having a similar problem.  I have iPhone 4 with the updated iOS6 and a Hotmail account.  Mail had been working after the update, but I noticed that wasn't really pushing my mail like it used to before the update.  I wouldn't get notifications after the update and when I open the Mail app, it would take much longer to download emails.  I decided to remove my Hotmail account and then re-add the account to the phone to see if that would fix the problem.  No such luck.  Now I have zero emails in my inbox on my phone when there is new email sitting in my Hotmail inbox on my laptop.  I've tried to delete and add the account multiple times now while rebooting the device and nothing changes...I've looked into other fixes mentioned here that say to change the settings on cellular date, airplane mode, push vs fetch, etc. and nothing is working.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • How do I stop receiving Mail alerts on the iPad? E.g when browsing Safari a Mail alert box will pop up when I receive a new email. I don't want this alert. Thanks.

How do I stop receiving Mail alerts on the iPad?
e.g. When browsing in Safari I will be interrupted by a 'ping' sound and a Mail alert box every time a new email comes in to my Inbox. This is irritating. How do I stop this? To see if I have new Mail I just prefer to go to Mail and my Inbox at convenient intervals.
    Thank you.

The same way you'd change any notifications: Settings>Notifications>Mail. Change it to "Banner" or "None".
