Stopping an Import of a CD

How can I stop an import of a CD once it's started in iTunes 7? I had the wrong import settings and the only way I could figure out how to start it was to do a force quit of iTunes.
In previous versions of iTunes, pressing the import button again after starting would abort the import. Now that that is gone, there's nothing.

In the activity window in the middle of iTunes at the top where it shows the song being played/imported - there will be a "x" on the right side. That will cancel iTunes activity for the items being displayed in the activity window.

Whenever I try to upload photos into iPhoto, they load but when importing it just stops a picture or two into it and then just sits there. I can't stop the import so I have to shut off my camera when it is importing and start again. Does anyone know how to fix this?

As a test  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Tru importing from your camera to it and to see if the same problem persists. Does it?

  • How to stop Automatic import of photo stream photos?

Photos app is automatically importing every picture from photo stream. Even after deleting the photos in photo stream they are still showing up in the photos library. How do I stop auto import? There does not seem to be a way to stop this. It is saving every pic I take with my iPhone. I have to manually delete hundreds of photos I do not want .

On your Mac, how do you have the options in Photos > Preferences > iCloud set? Is either iCloud Photo Library or My Photo Stream checked?
On your iPhone, how do you have the options in Settings > iCloud > Photos set? Is either iCloud Photo Library or Upload to My Photo Stream set?
You will get the effect you mention if either both iCloud Photo Library options are set or both My Photo Stream options are set (or all four are set).

  • Stopping CD Import???

Sometimes I'll load a music CD into my iMac, hit the wrong keys, and--whoops!--I'm importing a CD that I don't want to import into iTunes.
How can I stop the importation process once it's started? So far I've looked everywhere but can't find a way.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    John

Click the circled X at the right end of the progress bar at the top of the main iTunes window.

Don't know how long it would take to import that many photos but if you stopped import and ejected the card ther is something else wrong here.
I would Force Quit iPhoto. Then Restart your mac. Then restart iphoto to see if any or all of your photos were imported. If they ae you're good to go. If they were not imported I would try importing fewer photos at a time and see what happens.

  • Migration stops at importing data

    Hi!
Trying to migrate a 10.6.8 server to 10.7.4 server with the 10.6.8 vomume attatched directly to new server, it stops at importing OD data. It starts migrating saying upgrading services, upgrading OD importing data to OD where it stops indefinitely. I have let it be for the night and still no progress. the source server only have 2 OD users so it's not the vast ammount of data that is the problem here .
Have you run in to this and how did you solve it?

    Hello Stephen
We have a single DB instance for both OrgChart and OrgModeler. i just had a torrid time. I disconnected the DB to kill the sessions and when tried to reconnect lost my SERVER Database. I closed and reopened SQL Server Management studio, bingo it was there again.
Finally i changed it from single user to Multi user and then tried to change the collation. It did not work.
I reverted back to single user and changed the collation it worked great.
Most important lesson i learnt while changing collation " Switch User to Single User and shut down the SAP instance" and then change the collation.
I restarted the server and now my instance is runnning great. The errors earl;ier were related to JAVA ( jstart.exe error code:15031). Restarting the system fixed the issue.
Now i hope the functional consultant will  be able to run OrgModeler perfectly without having the system hanging at Importing Data Stage.
Thanks a Lot Stephen. Thanks a lot Luke.
I shall update once the issue has been completely resolved.

  • When to press stop on import of HD footage?

Ok so my iMac G5 previews my importing footage at 3/4 speed, I realize there is alot of caching and bufferring going on but I need to know what the proper method is for completing my import.
Do I press stop on the import window when the camera is at the end of the clip or do I press stop when the 3/4 speed preview reaches the end of the clip? Also should I stop the camera when it reaches the end of the clip or leave it on playback until I press stop on the preview window?
    Make sense?
    Thanks

See swizcore's message above: if you stop import in the import window when you want the import to stop, that will stop the import from the camcorder, the Mac will continue processing what it's already ingested, and it will "..allow the currently input video to be saved.."
If you want to "..kill the capture..", just stop the import, wait for the current processing of imported material to stop, then just delete what was just imported.
There's no "Abort" in a Copy window or during normal Finder file transfers; you usually just 'Stop' the current process and delete whatever was being processed.

  • My iPhoto seems to have frozen. Was importing photos went to the import selected, it tells me it's importing them but nothing is happening and I can't click on any buttons to stop the import. Any help would be great. Thanks

My iPhoto seems to have frozen, hooked my camera up to my MacBook selected the images I wanted imported and left the room for five minutes. When I came back it said it was still importing which I thought was funny as I was only importing 6 images. I tried to stop the import but the buttons are no longer highlighted and I can not shut down iphoto as it tells me it is still importing photos. Any help with this would be great as I have to get these photos uploaded for my assignment for school.
    Thanks

Did you OK the option to have the application delete the photos off the memory card?  If not then just force quit iPhoto by typing Command+Option+Esc.  Then select iPhoto to force quit.
If you did OK the option to delete the memory card I'm not sure if force quitting iPhoto will abort that function. You might try disconnecting the camera and then force quit iPhoto.
If you do find that the photos were deleted and are not in the library you can recover them from the memory stick with an application like MediaRECOVER.  You can run it in demo mode to verify it can see and recover the photos on your card before you have to purchase it.

I'm currently trying to import photos to my library from a memory card to my laptop. The import is stalled and will not allow me to stop the import, any suggestions?

Does this involve iPhoto in some way? If so, try using the Force Quit command. It's under the Apple Menu.

  • 10.6.8 stops me importing photos from Olympus camera

    1. Recently bought a new Olympus VR310 digital camera.  I couldn't get either Image Capture (6.0.1) or iPhoto (9.1.5) to import images from day one, onto my Mac Mini running Snow Leopard 10.6.8.  However, if I took the SDHC card out of the Olympus and put it into an older  Canon Ixus digital camera , and used that to upload, then both Image Capture and iPhoto worked perfectly.  So it's not the card.  Or the USB connection.  It's something special to the Olympus and the Mac.  Obviously I tried all the usual stuff about dumping plist files etc.  Nothing worked.
    2. The problem manifests itself, when the Olympus is connected,  as Image Capture being unable to show more than one, if any, thumbnails, and it is unable to import at all.  In iPhoto the problem manifests immediately it calls up the Olympus as a connected camera.  The dreaded spinning beachball of death kicks off, and the program 'stops responding'.  Even after I quit iPhoto and unmount the Olympus, iPhoto will not open without the spinning ball of death until I restart.
    3. Anyway, I tried connecting the Olympus to my son's Macbook, (System 10.6.7, Image Capture 6.0.1 and iPhoto 9.1.1) and all worked perfectly.  Hmm… so it's NOT just down to the Olympus.  It's something to do with my setup.
    4. I also have a bootable USB drive connected to the Mini, so I booted into that, so I then have my computer and my user preferences etc running under the bootable drives System 10.6.6, Image Capture 6.0.1, and iPhoto 9.1.5.  That worked perfectly with the Olympus too.  So it's not my the combination of my user settings, Image Capture 6.0.1, or iPhoto 9.15, or the  Olympus.
    5. My guess then was it was some corruption of the system on the Mac Mini.  So I reinstalled the Mac Mini system, from the install DVD, so I had a nice fresh Snow Leopard 10.6.0.  That gave me Image Capture 6.0.1 and iPhoto 9.1.5.  When I attached the Olympus, everything worked perfectly.  Great.
THEN, I updated the system from Apple's Oftware Update, all the way to 10.6.8, which is where I started from.
    6. And guess what.  Nothing works anymore. Immediately before the update, the Olympus importing worked.  Immediately afterwards it didn't.  I'm back where I was at the beginning, with exactly the same problem..  I can't import from the Olympus but the Canon is fine. (see 1 and 2 above)
So, it seems to me that the Upgrade straight to 10.6.8 is what caused the problem.  And given I could get the Olympus to work on my son's computer (system 10.6.6) it's something between 10.6.6 and 10.6.8.  Why the Canon works on all the permutations, and not the Olympus, I don't know.  I don't know why the  Olympus ONLY doesn't work with 10.6.8.
    7. Obviously there are tedious workarounds (but none that lets iPhoto capture the photos directly) which I can use to get the images into iPhoto eventually, but hey, this is an Apple Mac, who wants to be doing tedious workarounds all the time.
I've had Macs since 1984  (I'm that old…) so I'm a fan, and I'm reasonably competent, but this has me stumped.
    Any ideas, anyone.
    Any help much appreciated.
    Ian Waterston

You launched iPhoto and from its Preferences you selected Connecting camera opens.....

  • How do you stop automatic import into iPhoto?

I am a photoshop user, a pro, but new to the mac. iPhoto is installed and everytime I insert a compact flash card into the system, iPhoto starts up and attempts to import the photos.
How do I stop this? I don't want iPhoto. I want Photoshop or nothing at all to happen? Thanks!

Image Capture, in your Applications Folder, controls this. Launch Image Capture and go
    Image Capture Menu -> Preferences
There you can select your options for what happens when you connect your camera or card.
