Stopping at track 4 when burning

I can't figure out if this is a hardware issue or not, but recently, whenever I try to burn a CD using iTunes, at track 4 it sounds like a jet engine is taking off the disc spins up so fast and the time to finish steadily increases. I have to ultimately shut down the mini and restart.
I've burned data CDs without issue, but music CDs are a problem. Any suggestions?

Since nobody answered, if someone needs this in the future, try buying new CD-Rs. After buying a new pack, it started working again.

  • Normalise tracks when burning a CD

If I have tracks from various sources and amplitude how can I normalise the amplitude when burning to a CD

Using Normalize will get the peak amplitudes in your files to be the same, but it won't normalize the actual loudness (or 'volume' if you like) of the files, which depends on several other things, and it's very subjective. Personally I do this by ear because of the subjectiveness, but there is a tool in Audition which will attempt to do the task for you. Rather than go through it all here, have a look at the 'match volume across multiple files' section in the on-line manual, page 60.

  • Duplication of a short section of track when burning a cd

Has anyone had this problem when burning a cd? A short section from the start of the next track is included at the end of the previous track. It doesn't happen every time but more often than not. I have tried changing the gap between trcks and that doesn't make any difference.
I didn't have this problem on my old PowerBook G4. It's only since I moved to a new laptop and new OS.

Thanks for your reply. I've tried a lower burn speed but it didn't make any difference.
Perhaps I should explain what I'm trying to do. I'm converting all my old 1960s & '70s LPs to CD. I transfer them in to Audacity, edit as necessary and put labels on each track, then export to AIFF format, then import to iTunes to burn a CD. Any other suggestions?

  • Playhead stopped following track when playing

I'm composing a few things, and when I play it back, the playhead stopped following the song, and it gets annoying having to scroll along with it and try to see if I want to make changes.
I must have accidentally hit a command or something to stop it from following the song, and I don't know how to change it back.
Does anyone have any idea on how to get the playhead (the arrow with the red line) to follow the song as it is being played? Thanks.

  • Stop Itunes adding numeric prefix to song filename when burning playlist?

Hello, does anyone know how to get Itunes to stop automatically adding nummeric prefixes to the song filenames when burning a playlist? For example, if I have a playlist where the 3rd song is "Boom Boom Pow", Itunes will name this song "03 Boom Boom Pow.m4a" For various reasons I really don't want the number "03" added. I can't find how to make Itunes not do this? I just want the filename to be "Boom Boom Pow.m4a"
    thanx

I am posting this question in the ITunes forum instead.

  • Has a stop marker any function when burning blu-ray discs with Premiere Elements 12?

Stop marker when burning blu-ray discs with Pre 12. Does it works?

    Amiral
    No.
This applies to Premiere Elements any version.
Stop markers placed on the Premiere Elements Timeline destined for burn to Blu-ray disc format on Blu-ray disc are not recognized at playback of that disc using the Blu-ray player.
If you need Blu-ray disc with stop markers, you can export your Premiere Elements Timeline content to an appropriate file type that will be compatible with a 3rd party software which will get the job done. I have heard that a software such as DVD Architect can do that, but I have not been there and done that.
Stop markers function at playback of DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc only. And, never place a stop marker at the end of the last item on that Timeline.

    Thank you.

Add On...I have found that the situation is the same for stop markers and AVCHD on DVD and Blu-ray disc format on Blu-ray disc.

  • Help!  Toast keeps stopping when burning dvd

    Hi,
I have a Macbook 2ghz with 1gb memory 667mhz ddr sdram using mac osx version 10.4.11 and am having problems with Roxio Toast Titanium version 9.
Basically, I am burning say 4 .avi movie files some with subtitles onto a dvd as a divx disc and toast burns the dvd to about 47% then it just stops and I have to quit the program. Can anyone help me with this? It worked fine when I had version 8 then it started doing the above so I got version 9 and nothings changed. Version 9 works fine on my other computer. It is really frustrating. Should I remove some files from my computer to help....
I have just updated the firmware on my computer and still nothing works. To be more specific when toast is 'encoding' it always stops responding at 47%.

    Hello there,
thanks for your message there is 24.5gb free space. I just noticed that one particular .avi file is causing the problem. Toast burnt the other movies fine (on a separate disc) and when burning the message would come up 'writing...' but when I burn this problem .avi file a message comes up saying 'encoding...' so toast is treating it differently for some reason and then it only does 47% and stops working. I tried with different versions of toast but same problem only with this particular avi file. I am not so bothered now as it is only one movie (although a good one!) but i would like to know what is causing it. Do you think it's because I don't have enough free space?

  • ITunes changes track order when burning discs

When burning a playlist to disc iTunes changes the track order.  I want the disc to have the same track order as my playlist.  How do I do that?

    Jim VanLeeuwen wrote:
How your CD appears in iTunes depends on the column selections. In list view in iTunes, select the column to the left of the track names to see the CD track order. To see the actual order of the tracks on the CD, open the CD in Finder by double-clicking the CD on the desktop. The tracks will be preceded by a number corresponding to their order on the CD and that is the order they should play in your CD player. If you use the Finder's list view, your CD should reflect the order in the playlist you burned it from.
Play the CD in your CD player? Does the order match the original playlist?
Nope, when I put it in my car CD player the tracks are randomized. On the playlist I can put the tracks in the order that I wanted them in and when I burn them iTunes randomizes the order on the cd. I've burned it 4 more times and each time the tracks have been randomized. This is also with a cd that I bought from the ITS. So the playlist is in track order and I even checked the tags and the numbers are in the correct order.

Is there another way to adjust tempo of loops the faster way, any other technique?

No clue why the final processes have suddenly started to take so long. Two things I'd try: a) capture from an older tape to see if some problem with the new tape is at fault.  And b) check the health of your RAM and the hard drive.
The red frame sounds a bit like a glitch we used to have in OnLocation (actually in its predecessor HDV Rack) which was caused by a partial GOP. But that was a product of HDV Rack recording from the live video stream. It turned out that HDV cameras intentionally interrupt the data stream for an instant upon starting to record--specifically to avoid recording a partial GOP to tape. So my gut says that the tape has partial GOPs at the points where you stopped/started recording.

  • How can I turn off the sound from the original midi  or audio tracks when I turned on the duplicate tracks for editing ?

How can I turn off the sound from the original midi or audio tracks when I edit or listen to the duplicate tracks in Logic Pro 9 ?
I'm using iMac desktop with Mac OS X Version 10.7.3. Pls advise.

    Dan,
It sounds like one of your preferences has changed.
Go to preferences > audio > general, and make sure "track mute/solo" is set to "CPU saving (slow response)". It is probably set to "Fast " at the moment.
This setting (fast) basically causes immediate muting from the channel strip while your song is in play. This is because the audio is still being read from the hard drive, but the channel strip is simply muted.... like a hardware mixer. When set to "CPU saving", the audio from that track, when muted, is actually stopped from streaming from the hard drive, but there is a couple second delay before the audio is actually muted.
One would think that the fast setting is generally preferable, except when you need to do what you are doing. The only way to keep duplicate copies of channel strips acting independent of one another is to leave this setting on the "CPU saving" setting.
    Hope that helps

  • Hardware Error when burning DVD's

I keep getting an error message when burning DVD's using Toast Titanium on my iMac..it reads:
"Drive Reported an error, Sense key = hardware error, sense code = 0 x 03."
Twice after getting that message I couldn't continue to burn and it stopped, once it did continue to burn and finished successfully. Any ideas, anyone?
    17" iMac G5 w/ iSight   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   upgraded to 1GB RAM

I get the same message today when burning from Toast 7.02 on my iMac. It happened when I was trying to make an audio CD from my iTunes collection (not when Copying from CD to CD). The exact message I got in the middle of my burn was:
    The drive reported an error:
    Sense Key = hardware Error
    Sense Code = 0x03, 0x01
I tryed again with another CD and got the same thing. I never had a problem with these CD's (TDK CD-R up to 48x).
I wonder if there has to be some sort of software upgrade fro Roxio Toast or is this a superdrive malfunction/etc. My Superdrive gets very loud during this burn as well. I may take it in to Apple Genius Bar. Any ideas?

  • Watch failing to notify me to stand up, doesn't track when I stand up

Got my watch yesterday, and aside from three times total in the past 24+ hours of having it and wearing it, it doesn't alert me to stand up once per hour.
The watch also doesn't seem to track when I stand up of my own accord, be it to just stand up for a minute, or when I move around my house to get things done.
Is there something I need to do to get the watch to sense when I'm standing up, and to tell me to stand up once per hour? It alerted me 3 hours in a row, always at the 50 minute marker (such as 1:50, 2:50, etc) to stand up for a minute. Then it stopped.
I wear the watch as tight as possible.

If I understand it correctly, your watch wants you to stand 1 minute per hour, all hours you are awake for the day. If it does manage to track when you stand up, it should track one minute per each hour you're on your feet, and add that to the activity wheel. Total for 12 minutes in a day. I could see wanting it to track the 30 minutes (arbitrary number) you're standing here and there, so you have that info - that would be a nice feature. While it's arguably healthier to be on your feet more often than not during the day, I think Apple's main goal is to just get people up once per hour.
I do use the workout app.
All alerts are on. Sometimes it reminds me to stand up every hour at the fifty-minute mark, sometimes it goes hours without.
I was also on my feet for two straight hours on Saturday and it didn't notice it until I was 1.5 hours in, and then it asked me to stand up.
Yes, lots of little quirks/bugs popping up all over the place. Passcode issues, the watch interrupting the bluetooth connection of phone-to-car (and requiring me to un-pair then re-pair my phone to car) when I get a notification of any kind, the stand tracking issue, not tracking movement accurately, etc. I don't mind, though. I'm usually a beta tester for other products and video games, so I just try to report what I encounter.

  • When burning my pictures to CD, a burn failed, medium write error came up.

When burning my pictures from IPhoto to a CD, a burn failed, medium write error showed up,

Like many other suggestions I found, I went ahead and purchased a lens cleaner. The CD instructions said to insert and play track 2, but my drive would just keep ejecting the CD. But it worked! That and a little compressed air.
Before using the lens cleaner and compressed air, my drive would constantly give me a medium write error and always make loud vibrating noises that sounded like my drive was about to explode. But now it writes like a charm and is completely silent!

Writing CD text is turned on in the preferences. If you’re having problems burning CDs, try turning this preference off.

Katrina is right, and it is in fact a good precaution to not have anything else running while the burn is going on.
I also suggest that you not use the CD Text option; it has been implicated in burning problems, and iTunes cannot read CD Text anyway.
