Stopping audio after continue button

I am trying to stop an audio clip after a continue button is clicked. I added the audio to the button and tried to use the STOP AUDIO WHEN CLICKED button is checked. When I preview it though, the audio does not stop and continues to run for the entire slide. I want to audio to only play while that caption is up and the continue button is not selected.
For example, I am trying to read a caption box that I have made. I want the user to be able to click continue and see the next caption box which then starts the next reading of the next caption box. Any ideas?
I am use captivate 4, thanks.

Hi there
Place the next caption on a new slide. Then configure the button so the action is to go to the next slide. The audio should be skipped over and the next slide audio should play.
Cheers... Rick

  • Stopping & resuming movie/audio after clicking button

    I would like to have the following happen: User clicks a
    button that says "Go to XYZ" ... The movie and the audio both stop
    (pause actually) and the XYZ web page displays in another window.
    Then, the user closes the XYZ page, and both the movie & audio
    start playing again at the point where the user clicked the button.
    I've figured out how to set it up so that clicking the button
    displays the proper XYZ web page in a second window, and the movie
    & audio stop when the button is clicked, but when I close the
    second window I can't make the audio start back up. I can click the
    "Play" button to make the movie start up again, but can't figure
    out a way to make the audio come back. Is there a way? Ideally, the
    movie & audio would play automatically when the second window
    is closed, but that may be a technical feat beyond
    my limited capabilities. Thanks, Alden

    Happy to share, I'm still really a newbie (after all these
    years) and I just figured this out, and I thought I'd spare the
    explanation to make my question brief as possible to spare the time
    of any Captivate expert (hint hint???) who might be able to help me
    . If anyone needs to know how to do any of the rest of the stuff I
    mentioned I'd be glad to share that too.
    I see now that Rick beat me to the explanation of how to make
    the audio stop. That's what I did. (Button properties / Options tab
    / Uncheck "Stop slide audio when clicked"
    But now, what I would like to know is, is there any way to
    get the audio to start back up again if the user closes the window
    that the button opened?

  • Stop audio after page swipe

    I have a 60 sec long audio file on a page, which plays on page load. Is there a way to make it stop when I swipe to the next page?
    Of course I could make a button to stop it, but it would be much better if it could stop without doing that extra step.
    In the media panel I have checked "Stop on Page Turn", but that does not affect anything when I preview on iPad (though I know it works when I export project as .swf file)

    A workaround is to create a dummy audio or video file on the next page.

  • MacBook Pro freezes randomly and stops audio then continues in a few seconds sometimes minutes.

    My Mac has been acting up for the past 2 days. It freezes at random times and cuts off audio as well. I've repaired disk permissions and that kind of seem to help a bit in term of how often the problem happens. Still freezes at random times. I know Chrome is notorious for causing problems with Macs. If anyone has any help as to what I may do to fix this, I'd appreciate the help. And if I should just remove chrome all once and for all.

    Do you have a lot of applications open?  Try quitting applications that you are not actively using. Run without Chrome for a bit to see if the problem is directly tied to Chrome.

  • Why do auto-slideshows stop playing after a button linking to a URL is pressed?

    I have several folio overlays in a presentation I am creating that simply loop through a series of images (slideshows).
    In the presentation I also have a button that opens up a URL in a new window. If I do this, then return to the application, none of the the slideshows will be working; they will be stuck on whatever image they were on last!
    All of this is using Adobe Content Viewer, any ideas?

    Is there any word on this? I'm disappointed that I'm still living with bugs I first encountered two months ago.

  • Today my M-Audio iControl play button stopped working on my Mac Book Pro after I unplugged the USB cord.

    Hello,
    Today my M-Audio iContol play button stopped working after I unplugged it from the USB port and then plugged it back in. I have a Mac Book Pro Mac OS X 10.7.3 and I only use it for Garage Band. The iControl will only play a very short snippet of a song then shuts off? (Like a millisecond) My space bar works fine as well as the GB play button using the mouse. I have searched for the GB preference files listed on some blogs but I cannot find them...help please!! One more thing, I plgged the iControl into my other Imac and it works fine so the iControl is ok.
    Thanks!

    I have searched for the GB preference files listed on some blogs but I cannot find them...help please!!
    In MacOS 10.7.3 the User LIbrary is hidden. To find the Preferences Files use the Finder "Go" menu:
    Click onto you Desktop to bring the Finder forward.
    In the Finder Menu press "Go" and hold down the "option/alt" key, until your user library appears in the drop-down menu
    Select "Library" and in the Finder window that opens navigate to the "Prederences" folder; move com.apple.garageband.plist to the Desktop.

  • When recording a slideshow, why does audio stop recording after about 30 seconds even though slides and presentation continues?

    I'm doing everything the same and have made many successful slideshow recordings using Keynote, but since updating the Yosemite and then updating Keynote the audio just stops recording after about 30 seconds.
    The slides keep on changing and recording the video, but after 30 seconds the audio stops recording even though it seems to be registering the sound and the mic is not muted in Keynote.
    Is there some change or new setting I am not aware of that needs to be altered?
    Any advice would be helpful as I need to record a lot of presentations.
    OS X Yosemite version 10.10
    Keynote version 6.5
    MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013)
    2.6 GHz Intel Core i7
    16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB

    I can't imagine this will work as the the application is tied into a specific computer and user ID to prevent unauthorised use of single use applications. Copying over has not worked with previous versions of Keynote.
    It worked for me. I guess it could be because we bought our Macs together and have home sharing or something. Either way, I'm running Yosemite but with Keynote 6.2.2. and not updating again until Apple do something about this bug.

  • Youtube, Netflix, and other sites continue playing audio after the tab is closed

    If you are watching a video on Youtube, Netflix, or another site and you close the tab, the audio continues to play in the background. Restarting the browser resolves the issue.

    I was directed here from my question: "[http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/928868 Flash video stops and starts but audio continues]"
    Flash videos freeze momentarily then fast forward/catch up while the audio continues to play without a problem. Interestingly, I noticed on one video it freezes at the same spot (about 27-28 seconds in) each time I try it. Audio does continue for a split second after I close a tab (that's normal) but it ''does not'' keep going and I don't have to restart FF to stop the audio. Also, I am already using FF13 and it didn't resolved my issue.
    I'm using Win XP with FF 13 but the problem has been going on for about a month (ie under FF12 as well). The problem also occurs under IE which makes me believe that Adobe Flash is the culprit (I also tested Quicktime videos and they worked fine). Flash video seems to work fine under Win7 (rarely freezes) and Ubuntu.
    I looked through similar questions (see above link) and did find one thing that works but it is only a temporary fix for me. One person had HTML5 problems and had to opt out on Youtube. I did the opposite - I opted in and the videos worked fine. However, I like to stick on private browsing which would require me to 'opt in' each time I go to Youtube. Additionally, I encounter the same problem on other sites with flash video and they don't have an HTML5 option.
    I also noticed that I do not have the problem at work on an XP machine with same addons in FF. Flash is v11,1,102,62 (at home I think I have the most updated: 11.2.202.235). I updated the XP machine at work to the latest flash and it still seems to work fine.
    I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling flash, starting FF in safe mode, turning off my firewall and I my internet speed is fine (15Mbps down). I thought it could be my video card but videos on my computer play fine as did the quicktime video. I'm at a loss.

  • Flash CS3 Play/Stop audio button problem

    I made a play/stop audio button with this youtube tutorial (youtube.com/watch?v=XU6oMEFUFF8) but after the sound is finished I want the play button to show up agian.
    Here is the actionscript:
    import flash.events.MouseEvent;
    play_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,clickha ndler);
    stop_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,clickha ndler);
    function clickhandler(event:MouseEvent):void{
    swapChildren(play_btn,stop_btn);
    what code should I add to my current code?
    I also can send you the Fla.

    You should consider using the Sound class. Here's a quick overview of it:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/as3/dev/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d118a9b90204-7d21.html
    You'll be able to add event listeners to the sound to know when it completes so you can execute more code, such as swapping the play and stop button. There is an example in that overview of listening for the SOUND_COMPLETE event (e.g. channel.addEventListener(Event.SOUND_COMPLETE, onPlaybackComplete);). It should contain everything you need.
    A basic example of what you'll end up with (there's many ways to do it) might look something like this:
    // just set up and wait for click
    var isPlaying:Boolean = false;
    var mySound:Sound = new MySoundInLibrary();
    var myChannel:SoundChannel = new SoundChannel();
    myChannel.addEventListener(Event.SOUND_COMPLETE, onPlaybackComplete);
    // buttons
    play_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,clickhandler);
    stop_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,clickhandler);
    function clickhandler(event:MouseEvent):void
              swapChildren(play_btn, stop_btn);
              if (isPlaying)
                        isPlaying = false;
                        myChannel.stop();
              else
                        isPlaying = true;
                        myChannel = mySound.play();
    function onPlaybackComplete(e:Event):void
              isPlaying = false;
              swapChildren(play_btn, stop_btn);
    The basic idea is keeping a flag if the audio is currently playing. If it isn't then assign the sound to a channel and play it while setting the flag (isPlaying) to true. If it's already playing, set the flag to false and stop playing the audio.
    The swapChildren is run in the onPlaybackComplete() method so when the audio completes the play button is swapped back in front.
    Rather than swapping the children I'd urge you to toggle the .visible property instead. It's easy to run commands in the wrong order and get desynched on depth.

  • USB audio DAC stops working after suspend

    I didn't update my mediacenter running arch for a few months so I figured i'd reinstall it because of the filesystem, /lib and grub changes. Now after reinstalling I'm running into the issue that my USB audio DAC stops working after a suspend.
    After a suspend speaker-test gives me the following error:
    [user@mediacenter ~]$ speaker-test -c 2
    speaker-test 1.0.25
    Playback device is default
    Stream parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 2 channels
    Using 16 octaves of pink noise
    ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:1068:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave
    Playback open error: -77,File descriptor in bad state
    I've tried replugging my DAC and restarting ALSA, without any success. I have to reboot to get sound again.

    Yes I am suspecting the kernel as well. I'll try to change some options in XBMC to maybe get this working, and if not I'll see how far I can downgrade with the kernel. My last installation was a few months old so I hope it broke not that long ago.

  • "AU audio file player" stops playing after a few seconds

    Hi there,
    i use "AU audio file player" in my concert set up.
    It worked fine til yet, but now it just stops playing after a few seconds.
    The track is 3 minutes, but it stops suddenly.
    I tried to reload the tracks and tried loading the "AU audio fle player" into a new session,
    but it still stops playing in any of the sets.
    Any idea?
    Thank you very much, S

    Hi Susanna,
    I did not find a way to trigger it from the keyboard...
    So I decided the following: I made a short cut for QuicKeys which opens the AUAudioFilePlayer and starts the loop I need. A quick solution which works with just hitting one key on the computer and the loop player starts. This works pretty well with QuicKeys but not with MS, the problem: sometimes when I choose by double clicking the AUAudioFilePlayer a black window shows up and only the name is readable, nothing else. I have to close it, reopen it and then- perhaps- the AU shows up and I can push the play button. Do you now that problem?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

    Most likely culprit is your Lacie drives which are notorious for flaky power supplies which cause just the sort of erratic behaviour that you describe. Have had similar issues myself. Lacie has been good about replacing my power converter-- twice. If you have seven of them, good luck finding the bad one or more. Like I said, the behaviour is erratic. Sometimes it'll work sometimes not. I can't comment on Samsung drives because I've never used them and have never heard anything about them. Same with Softraid. Why not just use Disk Utility. Sounds like you're ready for an external hardware raid. This will be much faster, much more reliable, and may even be cheaper than seven firewire drives. Check out G Tech, and Maxx Digital for starters.
    Best of luck

  • X121e touch pad buttons stop working after a while

    Hello everyone,
    I have a lenovo thinkpad x121e.
    The buttons above the touchpad (for right and left clicking) and also the trackpoint stop working after a while (about 45 min). Although the touchpad itself works without problems.
    If I reboot the operating system (Windows 7, 64-bit version) everything works fine for a while and then the buttons and trackpoint won't respond again.
    It is always the same routine. Rebooting windows, everything alright, stop working, ...
    I am using the newest driver version and de- & reinstalling of UltraNav haven't solved the problem.
    Has anyone an idea what causes my problems with the touch pad buttons and how to solve it? (I guess it's not a hardware problem.)
    Many thanks in advance.

    Hi again, li-lup
    I would recommend trying to use the standard Synaptics driver found here. Synaptics is the company that develops the UltraNav software, so there should be no loss of compatibility/features. I have witnessed several cases where this driver has helped others with mouse issues, so it may help yours as well.
    The first thing you will need to do is to remove the UltraNav driver from the system. To do this, open the Start menu and type Device Manager into the Search box, and then press Enter. Once here, double click on Mouse and other pointing devices, and then right-click on the UltraNav device. Naviage to the Driver tab and select Uninstall... from the bottom of the window. Follow the prompts to uninstall and then restart when prompted by Windows. Windows should install a generic driver that will allow you to use the TouchPad when downloading the Synaptics driver.
    Hope it helps,
    Adam

  • Continue button after failure result

    Hello,
    I want to set the quiz to make the student review the course before retaking the quiz, so I have
    set off the 'retake quiz' button,
    set the "failure" setting to jump to slide starting the course.
    So, continue button on the results slide jumps to the start of course (rather than start of quiz).
    And I have given 3 attempts.
    But when I test this, the clicking the continue button only works on the first two failures.
    I have to click "rewind" on the third attempt in order to get to the quiz for the 3rd attempt.
    Any ideas why this is? or what to fix?
    Thanks,
    Denise

    Hi there,
      Please try the following work around and let us know it worked for you.
    Workaround 1:
    1. Enable 'Retake Quiz' button from Edit>Preferences>Quiz>Pass or Fail.
    2. Go to the Result Slide, Place the 'Retake Quiz ‘button in top of the Continue button.
    Now whenever the user fails in the Quiz, 'Retake Quiz' button will take the precedence and allows the User to retake the Quiz, and once when the User passes the Quiz 'Retake Quiz' button will disappear and the 'Continue' button will display on the slide.
    Workaround 2
    Otherwise try inserting a slide after the Result Slide with Two buttons(Retake and Continue), Write a small Script(to show and hide the Continue and Retake button whenever user passes and fails the Quiz) and set it as the slide's 'On Enter' action.
