Stopping elements from repositioning themselves.

When I go to test my web page designs in a web browser, the elements on screen are constantly repositioning themselves to fit when I change sthe size of the browser window. Why is this happening and how do i stop it? (I'm testing my web pages in IE 6.0).

Murray's got you covered here but I'm going to take another stab at the problem.
First, can you give us a link to the website?
Second, what do you mean by "elements? Is this a text div? An AP div? Images?
With websites that do not have fixed layouts, the idea is that the text is supposed to re-flow if the user changes the size of the browser. With fixed layouts, you control things much more and can position everything so that it will stay pretty much where you want it from browser to browser (with certain variances).
A really good example of fixing widths is this forum. You can enlarge the browser to any size and everything stays to the left and all you see is the background as you enlarge the window in your browser. And to best understand how wide a fixed width website should be, I recommend you look at Google's Browser size to define what most web browsers will see of your site without any horizontal scroll bars.

Premiere Elements 11 stops importing from DV

Hi,
I am trying to convert my friends' MiniDV videos. I work with a borrowed laptop that has Elements on it but I am not familiar with it. The import always stops after about 18:30 and I get an error message about filesize. The filesize is about 4GB. I vaguely remember some Windows restriction (from the old days). Could that be the reason? And how and where do I change that?
Another question: Is there a way to stop Elements from breaking the video into scenes? All my friends what is to transfer the videos to the harddisk. No fancy transitions, themes etc.

The good news is that you were able to capture your DV data with Windows Movie Maker if not Premiere Elements.
Since that is the case, I do not know if you have any more time or want to do any further troubleshooting on DV data capture firewire into Premiere Elements Capture Window.
If you should, we might revisit a lot of what we did and then more.
a. Scratch Disks. Especially the Captured Video and Audio, but also any preview files or conformed video and audio files pile ups. Have you checked the Adobe Premiere Elements Preview Files Folder and Media Cache Folder? Has your computer been defragmented lately.
b. General computer optimization with a product such as ccleaner (regular and registry components).
c. In general for runtime error

There is a Premiere Elements 11 preference file named Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs. On Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 64 bit it can be found in the path

and in the 11.0 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete. Work with Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives active so that you can see the path.

Getting a message, "A problem has stopped PS Elements from working correctly."

I just installed PSE11 on my new Windows 8 computer. (I had previously run it on my old computer with Windows 7). The icon flickers when I open PSE11 and then I get a message, "A problem has stopped Photoshop Elements from working correctly. Windows will notify you if there is a solution to the problem." I never get a notification about a solution. Any ideas?

Stop Premiere Elements from downloading

I use a cellular Internet connection and pay per MB
Every time I open Premiere Elements it uses 25 MB
Updating is disabled but it has not stopped Premiere Elements
This does not happen with Photoshop Elements
This does not happen with any other application
All application Updating is disabled
I do Manual Updates for everything
I have a Wireless Watcher that shows every byte used
I have tested this with every application
This only happens with Premiere Elements
Just to be sure I disabled all Adobe applications
It does not download anything, Just uses up 25 MB each time

In Preferences you can choose to not be notified about updates.
However there is no option not to check for updates.
So that is what is happening, it is always checking for updates.
There should be a option to disable checking for updates.
I disabled updates in Adobe Reader X and Flash Player and
it does not check for updates for those.
I check manually for updates because of my connection but
mainly because when there is a update available I will go to the source
and download the update and install it myself which is the better way.
I will look for a way to disable the automatic checking for updates by
Premiere Elements and if not found I will contact Adobe as you suggested.

Thanks, Barbara. I don't use a trackpad on my iMac, just a mouse. However, I DID discover yesterday that if I press COMMAND-T (the command to Free Transform an image) I can then move the image where I want in the window. I need to use the command every time I move the image, which is annoying--in Mavericks, that Free Transform command was somehow the default.

Stop folders from automicatically duplicating themselves

How do I stop folders from automicatically duplicating? This involves 'regular' folders (not pertaining to any specific application) & mail folders in locations other than V2 in my user library, that are continually duplicating. I have no mail rules. Also, I've been using Araxis Find Duplicate Files, with the intent of cleaning up.

In Photoshop CS5, there is an option in the Layers Panel Options called 'Add "copy" to Copied Layers and Groups.'
You can access the Layers Panel Options window by clicking on this button…
…and choosing "Panel Options…" near the bottom of the menu.

How do i delete duplicates ... and stop Elements creating whole files of them!!!

Somehow in starting to use Elements all photos have been duplicated.
How do I delete the duplicates without going through thousands of photos?
How do I stop the program from creating and saving thousands of duplicates?
I can't find anything in their 'Help' menu to help!!!

Which version of ELements you are using?
If it is ELements 12, are you logged into Revel from Elements? If yes, did you connect to Elements from a ps.com migrated account and using same upgraded catalog from previous version of Elements? Or have you used the same catalog in ELements 11 with Revel and now using with Elements 12?

Strange problem with removing element from node

I have a problem when I removed elements from a node.
here is the code:

The node A does have a row with field "ID" equals to 123456.
When running the application, it does write that "123456" was not removed...but it removes it....In fact my table is now empty.
How is it possible if it didn't perform the remove operation for ID = 123456 ?

Because you are iterating node in wrong direction: see my reply to your post Re: Loop problem (seems that you assigns me 2 points without reading reply, and mark it as solved just because you stop solving it
So, in example in this thread, you must iterate node B in reverse direction, get element from B and remove it from B if it has some specific ID.

IFrame element from other website breaks Muse's basic slideshow widget

I'm not sure if this is a bug or what, but the minute I add this iframe element from a website that has a calendar on it, my site stops functioning and the slide show dissapears. I've tested this in different ways and it all seems related to the iframe. I'm not sure if this is just simply a z-index issue, or something bigger. Essentially, adding this iframe element makes the slideshow widget dissapear. Deleting the iframe element allows the slideshow to reappear and function properly.

Just preview in browser and you'll see it stops functioning, but if you delete the calendar iframe, the slideshow will function normally again.
So, is this a bug? Its a pain in my *** because this is the final element that I need for my website! Just getting this to work and I'm set! An incredible frustration that I'm stopped by such a simple thing like this.
Can anyone else confirm that what I'm experiencing is accurate?

US Government is stopping HP from allowing you to purchase applications

Just got my Touchpad a few days ago in the uk. However everytime I try and purchase an app I get Can't Purchase US Government is stopping HP from allowing you to purchase applications. I have rung the issue through to support but nothing yet. Anyone else had this issue ?

I haven't run into that but from the message it's likely that you may be running into an automated trade compliance system. There are restrictions on the export of software containing _any_ encryption technology, or even open APIs for plugging encryption in to an application. It may not mean that it is impossible for you to buy it, but if the system doesn't have the 'n' elements required for it to be confident that you're not in an embargoed country, it will fail closed rather than sell something.
I have been in the software business for a while, and there are quite a few of these out there. When it all works, you don't notice them.

After I watch a podcast I delete it. When I go back in the next day it shows 500-600 episodes I have to delete manually. So 2 questions.... Is there a way to stop this from happening and is there a way to delete all. This is getting frustrating.

Had all these issues. Bit the bullet and downloaded the Downcast App ($1.99). Much better expereince and a lot more features. Sad.

I have a new pc, and when updating ipad software it will erase all apps etc, is there any way to stop this from happening and make my new laptop my ipads "home" pc???

Macs use an application called Migration Assistant to copy material from the old Mac to the new one. The macs are connected together and each runs Migration Assistance and the user chooses what stuf to copy onto the new Mac.
Unfortunately I do not know how to do this between pcs or between a Mac and a Pf or even if it's even possible.
