Stopping end-users directly hitting WLS

Config:
* NES 3.5.1 on Solaris 5.6 with WLS' libproxy.so
* NES's obj.conf configured so that a particular URI is served by WLS.
All pages served by WLS through NES must be HTTPS as far as the end-user
are concerned. Other URIs are served by NES.
* WLS 5.1 SP5 on same box as NES.
Questions:
1) If NES received an HTTPS request for the particular URI being served
by WLS, will NES also pass the request to WLS as HTTPS??
2) Because WLS and NES are on the same box, can WLS be configured to
listen for HTTP/HTTPS requests from NES via localhost (WLS seems to be
listening on the NIC interface and cant figure out how to make WLS
listen on localhost)--- to prevent end-users making direct HTTP/HTTPS
requests from WLS? I know that WLS is listening on a different port so
that end-users can only make direct requests from WLS if they knew this
port .... still, I want all requests via NES.
3) Will WLS listening on localhost instead of the NIC interface affect
WLS clustering? Can't I have it both ways? :)

1) If NES received an HTTPS request for the particular URI being served
by WLS, will NES also pass the request to WLS as HTTPS??No. But this functionality will be added to WLS in a service pack to
version 6.0. The 6.0 is slated to go into public beta in a few weeks.

it should not matter.>

  • Blocking mavricks upgrade to end users?

    Hi
We are running a mix of different builds of OS from leopand upto mt lion and I'm planning to upgrade all our end users at the same time to Mavricks, is it possible to stop end users from doing this themselves in the meantime? Possible with "sudo softwareupdate --ignore "?  I just can't find the required label for it.
    Many Thanks

Yes. I do appreciate that admin users can just skip around it with different methods.
I've just taken over a mac infrastructure, and rebuilding it so that it is an infrastructure.  Part of it will be a local update server.  I just don't want the end users upgrading their machines willy nilly and risk killing there machines until the back bone is setup.  I've asked them not to upgrade just yet and for me to push out the deployment via deploystudio when the time comes, so that all the machines have the correct settings and policies set on them.
I just need software update not to display the update until then, do stop them accential upgrading.

  • Requestors end users will not acces a site directly and add list items

    Hi
i created a  site for IT services  and this site includes some lists for various services
    http://Intranet.com/Units/IT services
    main site is http://Intranet.com
and also workflow are configured  for these lists for create new item
and only 3 type of users will work on these lists
    1)Requestors (Create,View rights)
    2)Contributers (Contribute permissions)
    3)Approvers
    Scenario:
-- Requestors    will create list items and approvers will Open this list item and  edit list item like
approve and add a Contribute userid in AssignedTO field
---Contribute user also will recieve email and he also Open item and edit ans save this list
so basically its backend  , data inserted by requestors will  save in lists
so here i need all  Requestors  end users will not acces IT services site and add list item directly in list.
is any other option availabe that i will provide a  diffrent front end page for Requestors at root level  site (which is Intranet.com )
and they will add and view only their data, and  Contributers  also  view and edit all users data.
    adil

    Hi adilahmed,
You can use two web parts to show the list items for different group.
In the List view page, add another list view web part, set the first web part list view to filter Created By field with Me, second list with all list items.
Then set the first web part with audience Requested group, and second web part with audience Contributers group.

  • Acrobat Pro XI problem+Accept End User License Agreement when opening a PDF inside IE

Hi folks, this issue has been challenging.
    Acrobat Pro CC install
    W7 X64
Deployment went ok after the code was worked out, but.....
We use Desire to Learn content management system at the community college where I maintain the student computers at. When running D2L and a PDF has been embedded in some course material, I am getting the message below and the PDF won't open.
“Before proceeding you must first launch Adobe Acrobat and accept the End User License Agreement" .
The only fix so far is to run up Acrobat Pro and run the program once. Fine and dandy, but we are looking at 700+ machines to clear in this fashion. The other part of this scenario we we also utilize Respondus Lockdown Browser to invigilate exams through D2L. Because of the "lock down" features, the student can't even get back to the desktop to run Acrobat and clear the message.
I have tried a number of GPO entries to no avail. As well, disabled the IE PDF viewer add-on. I ran Procmon with no results either; .
I have been scouring the Googlemachine and building on the GPO below to get around the issue with no results. I am hoping someone with a sharper eye than I can spot something or point me in the correct direction..
    Thanks eh.

  • Reader X problem - Accept End User License Agreement

I have recently updated to Adobe Reader X.
I use Windows XP (SP3) and Internet Explorer.
    Now, when I attempt to read a .pdf file a Reader X message pops up with the following message;
"Before proceeding you must first launch Adobe Acrobat and accept the End User License Agreement".
I do not have Adobe Acrobat, I am using the free Adobe Reader X.
Why am I getting this message and what can I do to stop it so that I can again read .pdf files.
This never happened with the previous version of Adobe Reader.
How can I go back to the previous version?
    Thanks
    Gryphon2345

I have the same issue reported by Gryphon, however this response is an odd fix IF it were to be available to me.
The "Enable Protected Mode" is a new feature in Reader X that allows for a "sandbox" security layer in Reader. You can read up on that here: http://blogs.adobe.com/livecycle/2010/11/technical-details-of-adobe-reader-x-protected-mod e.html
While it does prevent you from opening up certain PDF's directly, we've only seen this when opening up files over our network. The message received was an "Access Denied" issue, and turning this off got rid of that.
In my scenario, I originally attemtped to update Reader 10.0.1 to 10.1.0 using SCUP and the published update. This caused my custom setup to be overwritten (customizations included default acceptance of license agreement, removing Auto Updater, and disableing Protected Mode). I then had to re-create a custom installation using the Customization Wizard with the 10.1.0 MSI file from the Adobe FTP site. After running this, I'm getting the above error now on machines that never had Acrobat.
That being said, Alex's suggestion of turning this on or off is not applicable b/c it's disabled based on my custom installation. The box is grayed out and I can't even enable/disable it anyway.
Anyone out there have a better solution?
UPDATE: It appears that Alex is correct. I removed the registry entry bProtectedMode from HKLM\Software\Policies\adobe\10.0\featureLockdown and was able to open all files w/out the message. However, I'm not 100% sure what this will do to other PDF files as we originally disabled this so that certain files could be opened. So far, this user has been ok with Protected Mode ENABLED, however, in a recent test, I was blocked from opening a web PDF b/c of it on my PC at my desk.
also appears others threads have been started (http://forums.adobe.com/message/3767559#3767559) so not sure when this may be looked at or answered.

  • HT201441 If the previous end-user passed away suddenly and did not leave the password word with anyone, how then can the device be wiped?

My company issues iPads to certain staff for their line of work.  If the previous end-user passed away suddenly and did not leave their iCloud password word with anyone, how then can the device be wiped.  Currently we cannot turn off the iCloud, change the user, update the iOS, nor update our apps.  Can the local Apple Store assist in some way?

I think Winston hit the nail.  I imagine the issue is you allowed the person to set up personal and private accounts on the device, not corporate controlled accounts.  As such, regardless of your ownership of the device, Apple will not release or change personal or private account-related information to you.
Whether they would or not to a direct family member, I do not know, but I highly doubt they will (or legally can) do so to you as the employer for a personal account.
I know such instances have come up in the past with things like company phones and such, both involving Apple as well as other companies.  The reported results in news articles were always that private information is private, and if companies want access or control, then they need to restrict employees use to only corporate provided accounts and services.

  • Is there a way for an end user to see who has membership in a security group

    Windows Server 2008 R2
    Active Directory Domain
    Windows 7 workstations
I am looking for a way that my end users can look at a folder security tab and then discover who has membership in the security groups listed.
Is that possible? Any drawbacks or concerns?

    Hi Tod,
Based on my research, other than viewing group membership in ADUC, we can use this PowerShell cmdlet
Get-ADGroupMember GroupName and Net Group GroupName to view members in a group:
However, these commands can only be used on Domain Controllers or when connecting to DCs remotely. That’s because accounts and account membership are stored on Domain Controllers, therefore we can only view group membership on DCs.
    More information for you:

  • Jabber for Mac - End User unable to Cut & Paste Images in IM

Full discloure: I am an END USER, not an IT admin or anything like that. Not sure if this is the proper forum to ask this question but figured it was worth a shot...
Running OSX 10.9.1 and Jabber 9.2.1.
I am unable to copy-and-paste images into IM conversations with co-workers.
    My "cachedPresenceConfigStore.xml" file shows:
    "<im_cutandpaste_enabled>TRUE</im_cutandpaste_enabled>"
    and
    "<screen_capture_enabled>TRUE</screen_capture_enabled>"
...yet these functions seem to be missing from the IM client. As far as I know our organization's service-side policy allows for sending images over IM (confirmed this using the jabber client on a windows machine).
Am I just "doing it wrong" somehow? Is there some special method I need to use to be able to paste images into an IM conversation?
Any help or direction is appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Jason

It appears they disabled it server-side as the button (a paperclip) normaly appears to the right of the emoticon button. While the jabber-config.xml file can block specific file extensions, it cannot disable the feature entirely. This is done within the Service Parameters of the server, which only an admin can see.
ProcedureStep 1 Choose Cisco Unified CM IM and Presence Administration > System > Service Parameters.Step 2 From the Server menu, choose an IM and Presence node .Step 3 In the Service Parameter Configuration window, choose Cisco XCP Router as the service.Step 4 From the Enable file transfer drop-down list, click On or Off.Step 5 Click Save.Step 6 Restart the Cisco XCP Router Service on every node in the cluster. For more information, see Restart CiscoXCP Router service, on page 43.

  • Is there a way to have an AppleID for an end-user without credit card info attached to it?

I am in charge of managing the Macs in our department. We have purchased a volume license for Mountain Lion (can't jump to Mavericks yet until we upgrade other software). I have a code to redeem, but the end-user is supposed to have an AppleID. I went ahead and started creating one for her, but it asks for credit card information, and corporate does not wish to have this information attached to an end-user's ID - they just want to supply it at the time of purchase for any future purchases (fear of identity theft and/or unauthorized purchases, I guess).
Our Mountain Lion software is already purchased, so Apple shouldn't need the credit card info for us to be able to install it. I can't install Adobe's Creative Cloud software until she's at least up to Mountain Lion … I feel I am hitting a major roadblock here! Any suggestions? Is this a new requirement? My own AppleID (for work) that I've had for awhile has no credit card currently attached to it … must not have been required at the time.

    Try this on that Apple ID to get the None payment method option;
This user, mountaingoatgirl, explains how to get a None option in your account details in the iTunes app on a Mac or PC. -

Then in the future use Apple's suggested method to create Apple IDs that don't require a credit card.

  • Looking for a better way to backup end users

    Hello there.
Not sure if this the best forum for this post but here goes.
Last week my company had a break in and a couple of laptops got lifted. Not a big deal as I had backups of the machines on tape. It did take a while to recover the files though. During that time I got to thinking about a better way to backup and I am looking for any ideas of if this would work or not.
First quick overview. About 60 end users majority with laptops.
What I am thinking of doing is this. Take an xServe RAID configured in RAID 5, for redundancy and speed, and creating a shared folder on it for each of my end users. This way if they need to retrieve a file they can log in and will not have to call me. Then, this is where I need help, use some tool to copy all of their files at specified intervals into their folder, at least once a day. I am currently using Retrospect to backup everyone directly to tape and I could use that to do this but the only thing I do not like about Retrospect is it can only do one user at a time. With 60 users I have to start it pretty early in the day. I know copy files would be alot faster so I am not ruling it out. I was also thinking about using ChronoSync to accomplish this and then use Retrospect to backup the RAID to tape for long term storage. I am ruling out using Home directories on the xServe for my users because they are all laptops and are usually out of the office at least one day a week.
If anyone could offer some ideas of whether or not this is going to work or not or if you have other suggestions, any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
you could be using a combination of Mobile Accounts (for the settings of the ibook) and rsync (which is installed by default on 10.3 and 10.4), check man rsync for more info.
    regards.

  • Where is button to accept end user agreement so I can download or read online file.  mac osx reader XI

where is button to accept end user agreement so I can download or read online file.  mac osx reader XI
every time i click  on a file to downloac
i get a reader message Before viewing PDF ... you must launch adobe reader and then accept the End User License Agreement. Ive searched  every part of the menu for this and cant fine it

Ok, so the Reader app works. Fine, but why did you say ",the reader won't open any more", that led us a confusing direction.
Ok, the problem is most likely caused because you downloaded Acrobat Pro, which takes over from Reader, then got rid of it. You now have part of Acrobat in Safari, not part of Adobe Reader.
There are two things to try to fix this. The first and easiest is to download and install Adobe Reader again. That should puts its stuff back in Safari with a bit of luck.
Important note for others following this thread. Downloading Adobe Reader is not going to help you if you have not understood and followed the instructions to "launch" Adobe Reader (or Adobe Acrobat). Make sure you understand what "launch" means before downloading anything again.

  • End User License Agreement

Each time I try to open a PDF in Safari I am directed to this message:
"Before proceeding you must first launch Abobe Acrobat and accept the End User License Agreement".
This prevents me from viewing the PDF in a Safari window, or downloading the PDF file to my computer and viewing it.
No such option to "accept End User License Agreement" is avialable when I launch Adobe Acrobat.  This problem has only occured since I undertook a trial of Adobe CC, and subsequently uninstalled it after deciding not to proceed with a license.
I do have Adobe 9 Acrobat Pro and Adobe Suite CS4 fully licened and operational on my Mac.  I have never had this problem prior to trialing Adobe CC.

If launching Adobe Reader doesn't help, try this.
    1. Check the Applications folder carefully - put it into alphabetical order NOT icons. See if there is more than one Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat. If so, start each one in turn. Notice whether the message says "Adobe Reader" or "Adobe Acrobat" too.
    2. If that doesn't help, even after quitting all the apps (Safari and Adobe Reader), downloading and installing again is worth a try. This will not make the message go away! But it might cause the license agreement to appear properly.

  • Non helpful screen announcement - "Before viewing PDF documents in this browser you must launch Adobe Reader and accept end user license agreement then quit and relaunch browser."

I recently updated my Mac operating system and now regularly get the above message whenever I click on website pdf(s).  I have tried to relaunch Adobe Reader - but nothing remotely resembling an end user license agreement ever shows up.  I can find nothing on the Adobe "help" sections that mentions anything about this problem.  Any suggestions?

Tried this any number of times.  I double click on the icon and nothing comes up - there is no lead, no directions, nothing comes up.  I click on page top menu bar and can access legal notice page - but no end user agreement page shows up.  Do I have to delete all Adobe Reader software and start over with a fresh download?

  • Personalization preview okay but doesn't show for end user

    Hi,
I've built a folder structure for iviews, pages, worksets, and roles and then delta linked across the standard ESS iviews into my new iview folder. I've done the same with the pages and then updated the page with the copied iview and from there built up the worksets and roles.
I've then gone into the role down to a page, previewed it and made some personalisation changes to field labels. This all seems to work fine but then the personalization changes are not being seen when I go and view the ess screens direct (either with an end-user logon or with my admin user viewing the screens direct).
All users are assigned the role through which I've made the personlisation changes.
Am I missing something. My understanding is that the personalisation changes in the role will be seen by all those that use the role i.e. ESS role within com.xyz.
Are there other things I can check?
    Any help much appreciated.
    We're on NW 7.0 EHP1.
    Regards
    Phil

    Hi Gopal,
Thanks for your response. Unfortunately no personalization at any level is showing from an end-user view.
One thought.... are changes required to the "URL of PCD Page" in the homepage framework to point at the new role location?
For example the personal information page points at resource EMPLOYEE_PERSINFO_ERP2005_PAG which currently has a PCD location set as:  ROLES://portal_content/com.sap.pct/every_user/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.bp_folder/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.roles/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.employee_self_service/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.employee_self_service/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.area_personal_information/
    com.sap.pct.erp.ess.area_personal_information
I've not read anywhere that this needs to change (to point at com_<companyname>) , but maybe it does?
