Stopping iCloud from storing my movies?

How do I stop iCloud from automatically storing my purchased movies? I already have them on disk but for some reason I can't get them re-added to the movies folder. iTunes insists on downloading from the backup. It takes forever and I don't even know if it'll work and allow me to get them back onto my iPhone.
Help!
Thanks.

Movies you purchase from itunes are not uploaded to iCloud. They exist in the cloud (not iCloud), and can be downloaded from it (i.e. apple's media servers).
When you delete a movie from a device, it simply is removed from the device, and again becomes available for download from the cloud. But there is no upload involved.
The only way the movie would have a cloud icon next to it was if it either never correctly downloaded, or it downloaded but was then deleted from the device.
In either case, its not something you can prevent with a setting.

  • Stop iCloud from deleting trash after 30 days

Well I think the headline speaks for it self. I know this question has been asked a few times but I haven't yet found a solution.
I am using my iCloud mail on my Mac via. Apples mail program, blackberry phone and iPad.
How do I stop iCloud from deleting the trash folder. In my mail on my Mac I have checked in "move deleted messages to trash", "keep deleted messages on the server" and "deleted messages after:" is set to never in the drop down
Does everyone have a solution for this?
    Cheers
    Thomas

AFAIK iCloud automatically deletes emails - I was under the impression it's 7 days - and this will over-ride any setting you have in Mail. There's nothing you can do about this, other than to move the messages in question to another folder which you create. They will stay there until you choose to delete them. The Trash folder isn't really intended as a place to store messages - it's there so that you have time to recover anything which got deleted in error. If you want to keep messages you should keep them in some other folder.

  • How can I stop iCloud from uploading my iCal & Address Book: Help!

    Hi,
I just made all the updates for my iMac and iPhone. All of them.
Then I (un)checked everything but "Find my Mac/iPhone"
Dispite my settings, I can still find replicas of my iCal and Address Book in iCloud through its Safari interface.
How can I delete my iCal and Address Book from the cloud and stop iCloud from mirroring them in the cloud.

    Hi iprover,
Let me first say that I am NO EXPERT with anything Apple and really have only started looking into this iCloud stuff a few hours ago because I'm trying to help my mom free up some space on her iCloud. But anyway, here's what I'm learning and what I THINK might be happening to you.
Also, if any Apple support people (do they browse the forums to dish out helpful hints?) or people who probably know infinitely more than me about this stuff, please do chime in and confirm / correct my statements!
    This is what I gather.
iCloud for Windows is set up with a local folder (let's call it "C:\Users\Administrator\Pictures\iCloud Photos\My Photo Stream") where iCloud will store photos uploaded to the Photo Stream. This will allow you to view your Photo Stream photos on your PC.
This does not mean that this is a PC backup of your Photo Stream photos, but just a way to view your Photo Stream from your PC. That being said, the general Photo Stream rules apply: 1. No videos are on the photo-stream, and 2. Photos on the Photo Stream will be removed after ~30 days and/or after hitting the Photo Stream limit of 1000 photos.
My guess is that the iCloud Windows App will delete photos from the local folder that are older than ~30 days and/or delete all but the most recent 1000 items if the 1000-item limit is reached.
That is a scary thought! I really hope you did not lose all your pictures, but my guess is that the iCloud local folder is NOT meant for backup but instead is the iCloud Windows App's sandbox for updating and managing Photo Stream photos.
All that being said, I'd say it's important to back up your photos in a separate folder not related to the iCloud local folder.

How do I stop iCloud from automatically opening email attachments in Firefox?

    Hi
This may have something to do with the "Automatically retrieve invitations from Mail" option being enabled? Click on the iCal Menu > Preferences > Advanced. It may also be the Alarms setting? This is for 10.6 iCal so it may be in a different place for 10.5?

  • How to stop iCloud from signing back on

Because apps always crash when iCloud is on, I wanted to sign off iCloud. But there's a REAL problem.
iCloud keeps signing back in! Pages, SimpleText, Keynotes, et al won't load document windows at all with iCloud enabled but if I sign out, it signs out and I could open the app... but minutes later, iCloud just signs back and it gets to stop apps from opening!
    Here's what I do.
Open System Preferences. Click on iCloud icon. Sign out. It will bring up dialogs asking me to delete or not. I delete them. I don't want iCloud because it's just not mature.. it makes too many mistakes in terms of user interface (which is a shock considering Apple should know better). It signs out and it shows two textboxes with Apple ID and Password as placeholders. If I leave it alone, I can open the apps and a blank document window (or theme chooser) appear.
Then I close the System Preference. I again open System Preferences and click on iCloud... it's BACK ON! I never signed in! And once again, apps won't open at all.
I've tried EVERYTHING without luck. I turned off iCloud account and it still doesn't do a thing.
How do I stop iCloud from signing in? And even better, is there a way to remove iCloud from Mac?

This does not work for me. It only hides the videos in the cloud I have not on my ipad air.  The videos I already downloaded are still there, taking space.  When I look at the TV shows in the itunes interface it does not even show that they are on my iPad.  I tried adding them, syncing.  Then it shows two copies (both run) of said videos.  I delete the video and only the one added from itunes is deleted.  The copy I downloaded and watched from iCloud is still there and not removable or deletable.  I did not have this problem in iOS6. I could manually delete videos no mater what way I put them on the iPad within the itunes interface.  This is a new iPad air that I setup as new, using the iCloud to populate the apps and settings, and then I added some stuff manually from cloud.  It seems to be alot diffreent in how it operates though and I had this with my old ipad3 and iOS7 as well.  Hiding the videos does not remove them...what do I do now?
Since it is a fresh, new ipad setup that took quite some time to get passwords and such setup or from cloud settings I hate to reset and start over, that is a pain.

  • How do I stop iCloud from sharing with other devices on my apple i.d?

My kids and I all share the one Apple i.d as they are young. I have just upgraded my iphone (to iphone 4) and I'm setting up iCloud for the first time. I have absolutely no idea how to use it.
I use my Calendar a lot, for all my appointments etc.
How do I prevent iCloud from sharing my Calendar, photos, messages, emails and everything else with my kids iphone and ipad? Some things are best kept private!
I have gone into settings, iCloud and tunred mail, calendar, contacts, photos and nearly everything to OFF. Will tha take care of the problem? Will iCloud still work on my phone then?

Yes, that should work. But let me ask one question, why do you set up your iCloud on your kids devices? If you share your Apple ID for store purchases (Apps, Music, Movies etc.) then just set it up in "Settings > iTunes & App Stores". Your kids do not need your iCloud account on their devices to get access to your media.

  • How do I stop Thunderbird from storing files on my desktop?

I'm using Win7 and Thunderbird keeps storing files on my desktop. How do I stop it from doing that?

It would appear that you have moved your profile, or parts of it.
In the account settings, look for the setting under ''Server Setting''s named ''Local Directory''. Is this set to your desktop?

  • How to stop iCloud from sending invites to other member of shared calendar?

My fiance and I both have iPhones and each have a shared personal calendar. When I update my calendar, which is shared with her in read-only mode, she gets an invitation notice in her calendar to 'accept' my calendar item. I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to prevent this from happening. It would be ideal if I could create a personal calendar item and it would not notify her when I did so. Of course, she could always go into the Calendar and look to see what's in it, but it's annoying that it notifys her every time I add something.
Is there a way to stop this from happening?
We each have an iPhone 4 running iOS6 if it matters.

    I have tha same Problem.
I share my calender with my wife and obosolite. Allways when i change a entry in my calender my wife recive a ivation. Also on the Mac Book in ical.
All settings are on Off for sending any change.

  • How to stop Health from tracking my movements?

    Description of the problem
iOS Health App constantly tracks my movements, which includes how many flights of stairs I've been walking, how far I've been jogging etc. I know how to erase the current data, but that's not what I'm looking for. I want to turn it off permanently. However, I can't see any option to do this. ime of occurrence
    Sources
None (Apart from my iPhone, which is displayed as "Waghfeldt's iPhone")
    Time of occurrence
    Always
    What I've tried
    - Disabled all location services
    - Deleted "Sleep Cycle" as I found out it might be the problem, since it's counting steps - however, this didn't resolve the issue
    What I've achieved so far
Nothing. As soon as I move, iPhone starts counting steps. When in the Health app, I can see the numbers rising "live".

I understand completely. As the first time this happened to me I was upset too.
However, though to you music and movies should be designated as separate processes. This is not the case.
Music and movies are alway synched together.
My suggestion manually drag and drop your movies to your ipod the same way you do your music. Synching is only useful to those that have their library stored only on one computer.
If you have multiple computers, or multiple drives for your moble, that you want to use as library sources. Always manual synch music and movies as well as TV shows etc.
Podcasts are best handled through synching, so choose one computer to be your podcast synch.

  • How to stop iCloud from sending meeting requests

I have a situation where an iCloud Calendar has been set up with many meetings with attendees for a business (appointments for a hair salon).  We created these "meetings" by dragging people from Contacts into Calendar, thinking this was a good way to have their contact info handy.
I don't want to send people updates or requests or invites or anything - it is confusing everyone and there are some 100 meetings that were set up and if I delete the attendee to just try to turn this into a "local" meeting for strictly my reference, they are getting a message that the meeting has been canceled.
    Bah!
Is there a way to just stop sending these messages?
If I just delete the calendar that has all these meetings, will iCloud send out 100 emails telling everyone that those meetings are cancelled?
    Thanks for any help here....
