Stopping incoming emails to my Alternate Apple ID

I have looked at existing threads that seem to suggest that while I can change my Apple ID & Primary Email Address there is no way to change / delete my Alternate Apple ID. There also seems to be no way of stopping incoming emails to this Alternate Apple ID arriving on my iphone. However, I am constantly getting spam to my @me.com address. Is there any way to delete/diable/block this address and theerby stop the relentless spam? Any help much appreciated. mark

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Generally speaking, apple do not use your alternate email address. However for obvious reasons, you should make sure that you can receive mail at this address.

What do you mean by a "fake Email Address"? Please provide examples of "fake" email addresses and point out how you know they are fake.
I should point out that the "From:" address is not designed to represent any kind of authoritative information i.e. it should never be relied upon to identify the sender of an email.

Incoming emails keep repeating in Apple Mail

I have had all kinds of probs with Apple Mail lately, mainly to do with getting to see all my POP3 email in Gmail on my PC at work. This stopped working last week, now it is miraculously working again. Great!
But last night/this morning vast amounts of email from last few days repeated themselves, spent ages sorting througgh them and deleting repeats while being careful to watch out for new mail. That has thankfully stopped too, I have no idea why it started suddenly, or stopped or why above Gmail problem righted itself.
But now all emails are coming in twice, not as bad as above probs but annoying. They do not repeat in Gmail or mail2web.com but I use mainly Apple Mail at home. Can anyone please suggest a solution?
It must be either something in Mail Preferences or in Gmail settings. I have Mail 3.6, most Help is for 4.0 (can and should I upgrade, by the way, I uploaded some kind of upgrader but it didn't want to install).

I unchecked auto forward in Rules several days ago so I don't think it's that. Must be sthg in Mail prefs or possibly Gmail settings but I'll be darned what... Asked my (expensive) ISP and they said it's to do with Mail, nothing to do with them. Have also asked former ISP whose email address I still use (pay them £12 a year, good value), no reply so far...
It's strange how things keep changing (forwarding to Gmail stopped working for a few days, now working again), doubling of email only in Apple Mail not in webmail...

Can't stop the email spam

Anyone know how to stop junk email from coming into Apple mail? On my Windows computer, spam doesn't come through on Outlook. Verizon email settings show spam detector is on and emails are deleted. But that doesn't solve the problem on my iPad and iPhone, I can't stop the constant stream of spam email. Any ideas?

The Yahoo mail app remembers spam when it comes up again if you mark it with the Yahoo Mail app.
If you use Gmail or Yahoo mail app, they each have an icon to label emails as spam. Yahoo uses a shield icon.
if you use the stock app, tap the file folder and send to junk. In settings app, under mail, make sure it is set to "send spam to JUNK"

Changing alternate apple ID

Im trying to download an album however Ive forgotten my security questions. To change them I need a verification which is sent to my alternate email address. But that address is wrong, how do i edit it. Ive tried the "manage you Apple ID account" but theres no edit button next to it. Its really annoying. Anyone kn

The reset email will be sent to your rescue email address (alternate email addresses, and alternate apple id, are different, they are not used for resetting security questions). You won't be able to change your rescue email address until you can answer your questions - you will have to contact Support in the country where you are (and which is therefore on your iTunes account) to get the questions reset.

Well, at this point, since you're using Snow Leopard and I'm using Mountain Lion, I should probably bow out. It does sound like a number of folks saw this kind of thing in Mail under Snow Leopard back in 2009, but I don't know whether that was a bug or just an accumulation of lots of different issues with the same symptoms all in one place. Your apps were purchased under the old ID, so they will have to be deleted and re-purchased/downloaded under your new one.

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use. When you do this you may find that the password for your old ID isn't accepted. If this should happen, and if your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, you need to temporarily recreate your old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

AAAARGGHH - I posted to grumble about the "new" iTunes, [which is still a load of garbage], but cos 100s of people feel the same too, my mailbox is FULL of threads to the post.
I have reset my e-mail preferences to NO for ALL notifications, with a conspicuos lack of success. So i use a junk filter to stop them, but I ain't pleased. Can anyone explain how I can get the system to work right [I know, I can guess what you are thinking, expaecting anything from Apple to be user friendly is a long shot.... but at least on can try!]

Incoming email stopped on one account

My incoming email to the Mac stopped on the afternoon of 8/13. My wife still receives in her mailbox, and we can both send outgoing mail. The incoming server is POP.earthlink.net. The change came on 8/13 while I was traveling and not near it, the Mac stopped receiving my mail. I get so much junk email you can see the time it stopped by the time tag of the last message.
In another state on 8/11 and 8/12 I was struggling with a handmedown PC, and spoke with Earthlink, Microsoft and Dell about establishing email, but then discovered a hard disk problem and ordered new hardware for the PC. I don't think there was any connection.
Help!

What you are wanting to do, is called a .mac alias account. This is not done directly in the Mail application, but rather on the .Mac Web pages. However, you can open Mail Preferences/Accounts, and for your .Mac account you should see a menu button that reads Edit Mail Alias Addresses -- click this, and it will take you to a sign-in page for .Mac via web. Sign in, and follow directions for adding an alias account.
Once you have done this, then this address will become available in the address pull-down menu in the Compose window of Mail. Any mail sent to this alias will appear in your .mac Inbox, and with the advent of Tiger, you can send from the address, via the pull-down mentioned above.
These steps are only applicable to .mac and .mac aliases, and not other forms of alias addresses that might be written about.

My iPhone just stopped vibrating when getting incoming emails... Yesterday everytime i got an email, my phone would vibrate, and now, its on vibrate and it doesnt vibrate with new emails, does anyone know how to correct this?

Mine does the same thing, and it also bleeds over into the email tone as well. It works for a while and then it suddenly stops. Turning the phone off and back on fixes it for a while, but it's a pain.
