Stopping Maya 2015 dynamics playback

Hi.
Could this please be addressed (either by Apple or Autodesk).  I have a few month old Mac Pro (duel xeon 6 core procs, with the D700 cards)  I can't stop my dynamic simulations by either hitting the stop button or by hitting the ESC key on the keyboard.  I actually need to wait for the simulation to end before it will stop (which could take a while as you would imagine). Also, moving or tumbling during playback is extremely choppy.   After reading some forums it looks like this issue has been around since mid-late 2013.
I have a 4 year old i7 with a 3 year old nvidia card that performs better during dynamic playback, and the HP workstation I use at work (which is 2 years old) also instantly stops playback when I hit the ESC key.  Please address this, or if the ESC key isn't the right keyboard shortcut to use let me know.
Thanks.
Kris.

  • Maya 2015 playback glitches on Macbook pro 15"

    To whom it may concern,
i've bought recently a macbook pro 15" retina. I'm using Maya 2015 by Autodesk as my principal workstation and I noticing like losing a lot of frames during the playback, like glithces. How can I solve this problem? I having this issue also on Blender software.
    Thanks for your attention,
    Alberto Gatto

I finally figured this out. It was the version our client embedded into the movie. Turns out it was all rolled into one. newer Flash player bundling worked fine!

  • Jerky dock and browser scrolling....launching Maya 2015 seems to resolve the issue...but why?

    Hi,
I've read that other people have had this issue.  When I first launch my new Mac Pro the dock gets increasingly jerky/studdery.  This continues to the browser or any other scrolling type window.  I noticed this the first week I brought my new Mac home.  For me the problem goes away as soon as I launch Autodesk's Maya 2015.  And it works perfectly until I turn off the machine and start up my next session.  I talked to Apple support the first week and ran threw all the usual things they get you to do including re-installing the OS, clearing the ram.....etc.
I've got some time coming up in the next 2 weeks and will probably drop it off at my local Apple store to have it looked over. But, what do you think, is it a hardware issue (just me) or an overall software bug?  I'm starting to think it's the graphics cards (D700s).
    Cheers.
    Kris.

    I'm actually using 10.9.4 now....same issue.

  • How do I stop my itunes video playback from skipping

We just bought a full season of a show and while trying to watch it the video playback is either really slow or it stops and skips while the audio keeps playing. Any suggestions how to fix?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Maya 2015 cannot see Mac Pro 2013 or GPU

Cannot understand why Apple would have Autodesk certify the AMD D500 on a Mac Pro 2015 when in preference the make of workstation and the GPU cannot be seen.
I am getting nowhere with Autodesk so I hope someone might know here.
Do I have to move to the HP Z820 to get a rig that is professional and truly supported by Autodesk?

I do not understand. Autodesk says that Mac is Certified for use with Maya.
    What is the probelm?

  • Premiere elements 8 - Audio stops midway through timeline playback

Hi Everyone... I am editing together a series of mp4 shots with a separate mp3 audio soundtrack.  The audio from the vid shots is turned down or off and the music is on the soundtrack channel....
I am on an HP Notebook w/4 gb ram, windows-7 64bit, 320 gb hd,  2.64 ghz processor... I dont have many problems with the video, its slow occasionally, but generally has worked fine.
The audio was working fine for a while, then one time when i rendered down a rough version, i noticed the audio stopped mid way through the playback.  Before that, it was working fine.  So i went back into the editor and sure enough the audio was stopping mid way through there too.  I also noticed that the sound from the video shots continued to work fine, only the music would cut off.  since then, nothing i do restores the audio.
I've viewed the audio wave form, everything is there, it looks fine.
Any thoughts?  And thank you so much for any assistance!

Also note that the program must conform and create peak files for certain media files when you first add them to your project. (You can see the progress in the lower right corner of the interface.) If you interrupt this process and try to work with these files before they're completely conformed, they may only be partially conformed and you get only half the audio.
Try clearing the audio from your Project panel (from the right-click option) and then re-adding it to your project -- making sure to allow the program to completely conform the file before you start working with it.

  • YouTube Videos Stop Playing/Loading During Playback

Can anyone tell me how to fix my iPhone4? When viewing YouTube videos with the App over wifi, everything is good until after a random amount of playback, the download bar stops loading and the video stops playing. This happens on most videos.

I was about to post the same problem - many YouTube videos either won't start downloading to my iPhone 4 or download about 15% then stop.  Here's an example of a video that won't start downloading:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfdK6H9d6J0&feature=youtube_gdata_player
I'm on a very fast cable internet link and ten feet from my Airport Extreme base station.  I'm on iOS 4.3.3.
This happens on WiFi or 3G links, everything else works fine.
Recall that the original iPhone ads touted the ability to download and watch YouTube materials.  Not so much anymore.

  • Stopping or stuttering on playback

    Prelude CS6 1.02 Mac 10.6.8 27" iMac 4gb
After we ingest video clips and use prelude to preview the clip it will play for a couple of tenths and then stop. Hit play again and stops, you can repeat these steps and do the whole video. It will play anywhere from less then a 1/10th to almost a half second, it's not consistant.
I have 20 of these in a classroom and they all act the same so we can rule out hardware or keyboard stuck.

    Hi -
Can you tell us more about the video you are using?
Also, have you tried changing the playback resolution setting (located in the Monitor Panel in the "wrench" popup menu button)? Try adjusting to 1/2 or 1/4 resolution (if these options are available for your media type). This should lower the CPU requirements and hopefully improve your experience.
Another piece of information that would help us diagnose the issue is to know the CPU utilization when you are trying to playback. You can open the Activity Monitor on the Mac and view the CPU values.
    Thanks!
    Michael

  • Sounds stops many times during playback with popping noises

During start or playback of a song, Logic makes many times a popping sound after which the sounds is gone although the song keeps on playing. This also happens when I play on my keyboard while using software instruments. A short moment I hear the software instrument, then a popping sounds and no sound any longer although the midi meter shows that I am playing. What is wrong here?

I have the same problem everyone here is describing.
I bought a Jabra Extreme a few months ago (it supports A2DP) and I found that the audio keeps skipping on my iPhone 4. It skips every 5 seconds or so which rendered listening to music via bluetooth impossible. I figured it was a "compatibility issue" with the Jabra and abandoned its use for music.
A couple of weeks ago, I decided to spring for a pair of JayBird bluetooth headphones. I figured this will help. Regretfully, the problem was back. This points the fault squarely at the iPhone.
I have not tried turning the airplane mode on and off and will definitely give that a try. But I seriously don't think that should be the way a device capable of bluetooth audio streaming should work!
Does anyone from Apple read these discussion threads? Will there be a fix?
Maybe I should stop holding my breath.

  • ITunes Store music preview stops and freezes all playback

I hope someone can help, I'm at wits end with this.
There's a lot of people complaining that they can only preview a few seconds of a song in the iTunes Store.
Oh yeah? Big deal, just be glad that's your only problem with it, because when this happens to me it locks up my iTunes from playing anything else and I not only have to exit iTunes but then terminate the process from task manager.
Let me describe it in more detail because it's so weird... and YES, I DO have the latest version (10.7.0.21)
So I'm in the iTunes store, I'll click the song preview button, I may or may not hear a few seconds of the song but it ALWAYS just halts playback before getting very far. I can move the slider, hit pause or stop or try to preview another song but nothing happens. What's worse, afterwards I'll go to my iTunes music Library and try to play a song and it pops up but doesn't play, like as if it is on permanent pause. It just DOES NOT play anything, therefore making iTunes completely useless other than messing with playlists and song info.
So now my only choice is to exit iTunes, oh but the problem is far from over. Now iTunes dissapears from my taskbar, but the little icon by the clock is still there. Clicking on it does nothing. I cannot rerun iTunes until I terminate the process in task manager. Okay, I kill it and start fresh just to have it happen all over again. I just dread pressing that **** preview button, I can't live like this.
This certainly was never a problem in earlier versions of iTunes and there's been no other significant change on my PC in the last two months (which is the last time I remember things working as they should). What gives?

Perhaps try resetting your iTunes Store Cache.
Go "Edit > Preferences". In the Advanced tab, click the "Reset cache" button shown in the following screenshot:
    ... and then click OK.
Restart your iTunes, and head back to the Store. Are you getting full previews now?

  • How to stop a2dp from taking playback priority when the IPhone is docked?

I have seen many people having this problem since mid 2009 and it still hasn't been addressed.
The problem is simple. When an IPhone is docked it shouldn't switch to a2dp for playback as soon as it is paired with something. In other words, playback priority should stay with the dock. Or at least there should be an option to disable a2dp playback when the IPhone is docked (or at the very least to disable it all together).
This issue becomes a big problem when you dock an IPhone in a car to playback music, but still need to be able to send and receive calls through bluetooth.
With the current firmware, priority is given to the which ever connection is made last. So when the car is turned on (and the bluetooth connection is made) a2dp takes over playback.
What is anoying is that apple can solve this problem with a simple if-then-else in the firmware code.

You may provide feedback to Apple regarding your issue at http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

  • Stop and go audio playback

Whether I'm watching a DVD or playing MP3's off of my hard drive, I get this weird stop and go along with a 'honking' type sound. Sounds kind of like the buzzer when you get a question wrong on Jeopardy. I posted this almost a month ago but got no responses. Did a live chat with an HP tech guy and he had me reinstall all the drivers and update the BIOS. Didn't help and now it's getting progressively worse. Most annoying!

  • HDX16 with Blu Ray that stops or lags video playback

My HDX16 laptop is nearly out of warranty (1 month left) and I need some advice. I honestly can't say I remember watching a blu ray movie on my laptop all the way through until a month or 2 ago. I normally use my PS3. In any case, when watching Jennifer's body it was pretty much working the entire way through until nearly the middle part (funeral scene) it started to lag and stop and then try to catchup and work for like 5 minutes and then lag and stop and then catchup again. I thought it was the disk, but then it works fine on the PS3. Then I went and viewed Iron Man and it literally gets an hour into the film, where he's testing out flight for the first time, and at the same point it lags and stops. I also see a spike in HD usage. The light stays on constantly. I have plenty of other blu ray discs that I can try, and will, but they seem to all work fine on the PS3.
Now initially i thought it was Windows 7 and doing the upgrade after i had already been using vista. So to clear the air I set it back to factory default, no updates to mediasmart or the OS, and at the same point it locked up on Iron Man. I ended up installing Windows 7 upgrade again and upgrading mediasmart and it locks up at the same point again. So I believe.. believe.. software may not be the issue.
Does anyone know any possible fixes I could try OR do you believe it's a faulty blu ray drive? Should I send it in before warranty expires (I would probably think so)? I need to test other blu rays AND I need to test out regular DVDs. I know it hasn't had an issue "reading" any blu rays, but i've only literally watched 2 full length. My buddy seems to think that the blu ray laser is having an issue getting to the 2nd layer, but I don't know too much about the workings of blu rays and layers and what not.
Anyone else having these issues with an HDX16?

I used my HDX 18 extensively to watch region "B" Blu-rays and now my dv8. There are many things that cause problems, although I haven't come across one like yours. Here are some things to try that are simple to do.
Go to Cyberlink and see if a trial version of Power DVD 10 will work, if it doesn't then try Corel
     http://www.cyberlink.com/downloads/trials/powerdvd/download_en_US.html?affid=2581_853_290_12410_0_EN...
     http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ca/en/Product/1189528458632#versionTabview=tab1&tabview=tab0
I don't recommend Arcsoft because their trials are not full versions. Media Smart software is developed by Cyberlink, so if Power DVD 10 does not work then try the Corel one. If any of them work then the reader or lazar is fine.
You also may need a BIOS update, chipset driver, Video Card Driver and, or Intel Matrix Storage Manager etc.  We'll start with the trial software. Ounce I know your exact model number I can help you further with your updates.
However because it is still under warranty it might be best to let HP deal with it first. They will only honor the warranty with the original OS not W7.
Another more drastic thing to do is to perform a clean install to W7. If we get that far I will have you do some very specific things to eliminate the cause of the problem.
Incidental Green Zone on Blu-ray will not play unless I enable "Any DVD" from Sly Soft. Ounce it gets past the trailers it just goes to black screen and stays there. This is a whole different problem though.
You could also download a trial of Any DVD and see what happens.
      http://www.slysoft.com/en/download.html
It removes the copy protection and it also enables a work around for Cyberlink software.
Are you running NVIDIA for video, what version is it ?

  • How do I stop dropped frames on playback?

I have been working on a project for several weeks. Everyting cooking along. It involves many time lines of fairly simple format - 2-6 audio tracks & 2-3 video tracks at most. Everything has been running smoothly until today when I started getting a "one or more frames were dropped during playback" message. This has happening quite frequently, on many sequences, without any changes to preferences, no windows overlapping & RT set to Safe. It is happening on several sequences which played through perfectly before. I am on a PowerBook 1.5GHz G4 running OS 10.4.7., FinalCut Pro 4.5. I am using a LaCie 300 GB external drive for this project. I have tried a number of solutions offered in discussions without succes. I am looking for practical solutions after many years on FinalCut Pro, & never having this level of frustration .
    Power book G4 (15 Titanium)   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Thank you all for your input. Here is further info to help explain the continuing problem. I am running a single LaCie 300 GB external hard drive with 156 GB available via firewired 800. Nothing else running on firewire. My internal 80 GB drive has 9 GB available. I have rebooted several times, coppied different timelines to a new sequence (this worked once a week ago), coppied to a new project, rendered all several times and there is nothing running in the background. I tried Michael's suggestion and exported self contained (to the same external drive) & played it in a new project. This worked fine, but still doesn't help me in editing. Still looking for suggestions. Update to my system info below in that I am running OS X 10.4.7, and was before dropped frames started happening.

  • Flash videos stop after about a second of playback ?

ANY flash videos that are played inside Internet explorer OR
firfox stop after about a second of playback, I can drag the slider
to the middle of the video and it will play for another second then
stop. Can anybody HELP. PS I also have NO sound in any FLASH stuff
since installing flash player 9. ALL other video's (WMP,MOV,RM)
    play OK WITH sound

    Hi ATR
Thanks for the advice and ideas.
I think that the vertical white line basically just shows where the mouse pointer last was relative to the time line, and if you move it from the editing window to the viewing window, it retains its last known position on the time line.
None the less - I implemented your suggestion.
Even if I move the clip further down the timeline, the playback stops about 1-4 secons after I hit play. Even if I move the clip 60 seconds back from the starting line, playback stops while the the playback position is running through the empy space prior to reaching the new starting time of the clip.
If I move the blue cursor that shows the current playing point to anywhere else in the clip, it plays for about 1-4 second and then freezes as before.
Clearly the playback freezes regardless of where it is in the content stream.
I have also discovered a new unexpected feature... The problem seems to be intermittent - if I open a few other clips, and play them, and return to the previous clip, it may run for some time and then freeze. After it has then frozen once, it freezes consistently after 1-4 seconds.
It is also worth noting that it freezes in quick mode too, regardless of timelines.
So there you have it - an intermittent issue.
I have bad to use iMovie in the meantime, which works without issues.
It is beginning to look like a bug in the application...
    Thanks again for your suggestions.
