Stopping N8 locking when in Music Player

I have a nokia N8 and plan to use it as though my 3.5mm jack in my car to listen to tunes.
However I have the phone set to lock after X amount of time. Is there away to stop this from locking when in music player as it doesn't do it when watching films so I would hope there is a setting somewhere.
On a side note and not so important one is there a way I could setup to voice controls to skip a song by saying skip
Thanks in advanced

Unfortunately the answer to both questions is NO ! The reason Video stays displayed is that it is a visual medium, music is a sound medium and the requirement to view the screen is not required, especially whilst driving !! The solution for skipping tracks is to create a playlist and just select what you want to listen to, or not to put tracks on your phone that you don't enjoy listening to ?
Good Luck

The off button does not switch to 'hibernate' or lock when playing music. I have to hold the off button down
for a prolonged period of time to get it to switch off; have had to resort to holding the off button and the main
button simultaneously to reset but no improvement.

    - First try restoring the iPod from backup via iTunes.
    - If problem persists, restore to factory defaults/new iPod.
    - If still a problem than you likely have a hardware problem and an appointment a the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • N79 freezes when using Music Player!!Also the real...

I have recently purchased N79. I have problem with my music player. Forwarding song or going to the next track freezes the phone. This problem was there from the first iteself. So thought upgdrading the firmware would solve this problem, but it had become worst started freezing and had to remove the battery. So formatted my phone to fix the problem. Now everything is normal except the music player problem which is irritating. This problem mostly occurs when I use FM transmitter for listening songs. And also the real player dosn't play video show blank sreeen sometimes.
Does the preloaded files are creating problem or the memory card is faulty needs to formatted. Its 4 GB card enough free space available.
Can you tell me after formatting the phone I lost licence for preloaded audio and video files in my memory card. Also few applications as i didn't backup. Is there any way atleast to get licence back or do I have to delete locked items.
How ofter Nokia releases firmware update. There is no update available rite now.

Yes, I'm currently experiencing the same problem as yours with the real player. The video shows blank when playing videos, you can only hear the audio.
We'll wait for the firmware update soon.
    Cheers!

  • When opening music player, I keep getting icons that say waiting. These keep adding up and I can't get rid of them

I have icons that pop up and say: waiting but nothing loads, these keep coming in after I open music player. I can't delete these either

go to the appstore and make sure that there are no new updates for Drawsomething.
If that is fine, double tap the home button and remove every app you see in that area. (hold your finger on the recent apps area that just came up and then remove every app from that area.
Now try to go to DrawSomething.
    If that didn't do it:
Now go to where you have draw something and remove it from your ipad (hold down the icon until it all of them start to wiggle and hit the X on Draw something.
Now go back to the App Store and redownload draw something.
    See if that doesn't help.

  • Nokia 6300 - Any way to stop keyoad lock when char...

    Hi,
I have a THBury in car dock for my phone which is great and automatically charges the phone when docked. What I would like to do is stop the phone from locking the keypad when it's in the dock and charging so that I don't have to unlock it before using it. I don't think this is possible but if anyone knows to the contrary then I'd really appreciate it...
    Thanks,
    Chris

I've also got a THB Bury cadle (system 9) which charges the phone and connects to the aerial. On earlier Nokia craldes (like for the 6230) the phone sensed the cradle and cancelled the keypad lock. But as far as I can see, the phone just treats the Bury dock as a charger, so you'll have to turn off the automatic keypad locking and resort to manually locking it when out of the cradle.
It would be nice if Nokia could offer the option of more settings when connected to a charger.
On my wish list would also be having the phone lights stay on. This works fine on a normal charger, but somehow if the phone is connected to a bluetooth carkit as well, this setting is ignored and the lights go out.
If there's anyone listening at Nokia, can we have more options available for the Bluetooth carkit - leave lights on, cancel auto keypad lock?
    Hope this helps

  • Turn off key lock when playing music on 5800

I recently had to reset my phone back to factory settings and now when I'm playing music (in Music Stand mode, if that matters) and I want to adjust the volume or look at what song is playing, I have to use the key lock switch before I can access the screen. I can't remember how to disable that feature. Can anyone refresh my memory?
    Cheers!

I had the same problem and did a reboot, for me that solved the problem.
    How to reboot your iPhone:
    1. Hold down the Home button (that’s the big button in the lower front) and the Sleep / Wake button (that’s the little button on the top right) down.
    2. Keep holding until you see the screen go black and then the Apple logo appear.
    3. Voila! Your iPhone has been rebooted. Resume your blissful life and forget that anything bad happened with your iPhone.

  • How can I stop my iPhone 5 from starting the music player randomly on its own?

I have an iPhone 5 running the latest version of iOS.  Sometime last year (maybe shortly after I originally upgraded to iOS 7), the phone developed a nasty habit of starting up the music player during phone conversations when I connected to my Mazda's Bluetooth system.  Oddly enough, I can hear the music playing over the phone conversation but the person on the other end of the phone line can't.  To stop the music, I have to open the Music App and then close the App.  Note that the Music App did NOT have to be previously open for the music to start, and the Music App doesn't usually show as an open App even after the music starts on its own.  The problem has persisted through the last few iOS updates and it now happens in a broader range of circumstances (e.g., I have told the iPhone to forget the Mazda adapter, and it now does the same thing with my Plantronics Voyager Bluetooth headset).  I usually have to go through this sequence at least twice per Bluetooth pairing session before the phone stops trying to start the music player on its own during phone calls.
The problem went away temporarily when I did a full reset of the phone, but it came back after a few days (even when I added apps & music back without restoring from an iOS backup).
Has anyone found a way to fix this problem once and for all?  If I can find a fix, it's enough of an annoyance that it might convince me to go Android with my next phone.  Thanks in advance...

I've tried syncing with itunes and icloud.  The missing contacts are nowhere to be found.  I just re-enter them on my iphone and proceed on my not so merry way.  Next time I look for a contact, it might be there or it might not.  It is not necessarily the same contact.  It appears that my oldest contacts seem to be the ones disappearing

  • Music player app - locking display orientation and album info

Is there anyway to lock the ipod touch music player app in a particular orientation? Alternately, can the music player be set to stay in album info mode when the ipod changes orientation?
I listen to my ipod touch when riding my bicycle. I use the DLO ActionWrap attached to my forearm, primarily in landscape orientation. However, I frequently want to see how long the current song is or how many songs are left to play on the album and, as I move my arm and change the orientation of the ipod, the ipod will exit info mode each time I change orientation. It would be nice to be able to lock the ipod music player app in landscape mode or lock it in a mode that it will stay in info mode as I change orientation of the ipod.
If you just can't do this, if anyone at Apple reads this, could you please make this a feature?
    alan

I have downloaded Audiograbber to my laptop. Converted all my music to Mp3 then transferred it all to my PlayBook via Wifi. You get the album, artists, selections etc. Works great for me. Then on the PlayBook you can select what you want to put on the Playlist.

  • T2 ultra Dual sensors stops working. Music player gets freez

Since upgrading to lollipop. I am facing these problems. All my phone sensors stops responding....Accelerometer,proximity,Auto rotate..... but after restarting my phone they start working... But again after 3 4 hours they again stops working. Also the music player gets freezed in betwwen of a song for like 15 sec and again start the playback. I have done repairing 2 times through Sony bridge. Formatted my phone 3 times. But this problem is not going away. I am never ever going to purchase a Sony phone again in my life. Once I was a Sony admirer... Why did you do this to me.

  • Failing Music Player

My 2nd generation iPod Touch was working completely and totally normal up until a few days ago when the music player stopped working. When you click on the music button, it directs you to the playlist screen but then doesn't allow you to scroll and sends you back to the home screen after 5 seconds of being on the malfunctioning playlists. I have tried other ways to get to my music, such as typing in the title of the song into the home search bar and then clicking on the song which directs you to now playing, but also after 5 seconds of being on that screen, the player crashes back to home screen again without playing music. I have also tried alternative routes of getting applications and creating playlists, but they don't play either. Everything else on my iPod functions perfectly besides this. It's as if my iPod doesn't want me to listen to music. I have tried restarting the iPod multiple times, but that doesn't fix it either. The problem is, is that I am currently on vacation, so I don't have access to my main computer where I sync my iPod, so I have no idea how to fix the problem. This will be my 4th iPod Touch to malfunction. Please help, because I can't afford to purchase another iPod Touch, if that is the necissary means.

    Hi bits84,
Please try the following actions and see if some of them fixes the issue. Make a backup with Nokia Suite. Type in *#7780# followed by lock code (default is 12345). This is soft reset, no data lost. The settings will be restored to factory state.
You can also reinstall the phone software. The process is the same as when updating with Nokia Suite, but at the end select "Reinstall".
If it's still the same, type in *#7370#. This is  hard reset, phone memory will be wiped. Restore back up.
Hope you get the device working normally again.

  • Avoid iPhone Locking when Ipod is playing

    Hi,
I have an iPhone 4 all up to date etc.
Is there a way (feature/setting or app) that will stop the iphone from locking when playing music from the ipod?
Reason I ask is I use my iphone for playing music in the car on a daily basis using an AUX input to my standard car stereo (purchased an adapter), and its a bit annoying if not slightly dangerous (I think) having to slide to unlock my phone everytime I want to change the track, let alone the fact I've had to put a simple code on the phone also to stop friends getting on my facebook?!
There was an app on my previous Nokia phone called 'Mr lock' which mean't i could put lock exceptions on the phone. ie. not lock in any way if the music player was running.
Basically what I'm asking is does the iPhone 4 have anything that can replicate this funcionality (without the jailbreak rubbish as I'm on contract and personally against destroying my nice shiny new phone)?
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Regards,
    Gary

Won't work if you have an exchange email connection that has a rule on using a pin and autolock mandatory. I have this and cannot set it to never because of the Exchange rules set by my email provider.

  • The E6 music player is practically useless-

…compared with the music player in E71 (S60 ver. 500.21.009)
    1. Missing is the incremental real time search in any list of songs which searched in any part of the name - not just the beginning. It worked by just starting to type on the hardware keyboard at any time while in the "All songs" list for example.
    2. Missing are the categorized lists by:
      All songs
      Artists
      Albums
      Genres
      Composers
Most annoyingly the above two features still exist in the Ringtone selection screen (when customizing a profile) exactly as they were in the E71 - this means that the underlying database is still intact and could support the functionality.
    3. It is impossible to add the currently playing song to a play list from the "Now playing" screen. You need to hit "back" to go to the "Songs" screen and long-tap the song to get "Add to playlist" from the context menu.
    4. The shuffle mode is switched off after almost any operation - most notably selecting a new song to play, or even tapping the currently playing song in the "Songs" list to go to the "Now playing" screen.
    5. The keyboard is TOTALLY unused! There is no more previous, next, play, pause with the direction keys... which makes is impossible to do any of those operations "by touch" when the hone is in your pocket.
    6. And when the phone is in your pocket with the music application in the foreground the screen will auto lock, therefore doing anything but adjusting the volume requires taking the phone out, unlocking it and using the touch screen - which does not work with gloves for example!
    7. The "fancy 3D scrolling album art" screen is completely useless for a big collection of unrelated songs from different artists/albums.
I understand that Anna was developed for full screen touch phones without a hardware keyboard like the X7, but the music player is a HUGE step backward from what we had in the E71. In it's current state it is almost unusable and is the most annoying part of the otherwise beautiful E6.
After contacting Nokia support directly three times all I got was a "we don't know, we don’t care" attitude to my completely reasonable questions of whether and when the music player will be fixed and if it is possible to have the old one form the 5x version ported and released for Anna. The functionality in the ringtone selection screen proves that the supporting infrastructure is intact and the problem is purely in the (brain damaged) design of the new music player.
P.S. I am using the current 022.014 software release.
P.P.S. I did read the "fix your Album artist ID3 tags" (e.g.) /t5/Software-Updates/Symbian-Anna-Troubleshooting/td-p/1127953 it is impractical for a collection of 2391 songs, does not address any of the points above and is a lame excuse for a broken application.

I had precisely the same problems.  E6 a great phone, but the music player sofware really really sucks and very difficult to use.
Anyone knows if any of the problems listed above by 'ruevs' been solved by a sofware update ?
I had a E5 previously and music player so much better to handle.
Another problem I have with E6: when I open 'messages' via the shortkey long press button, it opens at 'messaging' listing all my 'sent items'.
Can the settings be changed to open via the short key in the 'Folders' option, which gives you all the options to choose from 'Inbox, Sent, Drafts, Outbox, etc'.  Or is this a software setting I cannot change ?
In the E5 it has this option of opening 'Folders' with messaging short key.
    or:
if I open the 'Inbox', it gives me 'all the folders' option on the top of the screen to choose from, which is good. Can the short key message button settings be changed to open in 'Inbox' option directly ?
If not, then it is another problem and not better than the E5 which had these options.
Another question: can the options on the homescreens only be selected by touch, not also by the Scroll key ?  Can it be changed in a setting to use the scroll key also in home screens ?
In other screens the scroll key works, but not in homescreens ?
Thank you for the answers, I appreciate it.

  • Wireless music player with Time Capsule :advice sought

    Hi,
All my music files in my iTunes library are stored on my Time Capsule.
I would like to purchase a wireless music player (Squeezebox or similar, not Mac TV) that could directly access and play the music stored on my Time Capsule, without the need for Mac Book to be switched on. From the few wireless music players I have looked at, I get the impression (possibly false) that I would need the music player's client software installed on the Mac Book to serve the music to the player, which implies that the Mac Book needs to be switched on when the music player is in use (correct/false??)
Can any one please give me some advice here? Is my understanding correct? Is there a simple way to configure my wireless network to allow a music player to play files directly from the Time Capsule? Can you recommend a particular music player that would allow me to do this?

I would expect exactly what you are getting.
Wireless is not going to transfer real world speeds higher than about link speed divided by 3, maybe even 4.
Find your link speed. Hold down the option key and click the wireless fan in the top menu area.
Take the transmit rate and divide by 3..
You should realise that wireless is limited by Apple to 130Mbps at 2.4ghz although in newer equipment you can achieve 217Mbps.
For 5ghz the speed will be 450Mbps in the same room but drops off quickly.. the above shot is with the TC in the next room.. max link speed dropped from 450 to 162 as drop off at 5ghz is very rapid.
