Stopping podcasts from shuffling

Hi guys - any ideas? I have selected the "keep from shuffling" box in the "get info" fields some of the pesky little s*ds keep cropping up. Thanks.
Now this is really dumb, but just to play it safe: if your only advice is to create a huge smart playlist with the all the songs in it and not the podcasts in it - could you tell me exactly how to fill out the fields. I've tried to creat a smart play list before a while ago, and remember finding on field unclear.
Many many thanks - I know there are loads of people with this problem. D'you think there'll be a firmware update any time soon?

Bill thanks - I think the 'smart playlist' idea is the way I'm going to have to go.
The strange thing is that, although they all came from iTunes, only one series shows up in the 'songs' menu on the iPod. All the others behave perfectly and just appear under the 'podcast' heading in the main menu and again with different details, in the 'genre' menu.
I'll make a smart playlist and hope that they get this sorted in the next updater. It seems to be an issue bugging loads of people here and on iLounge.

  • How do I stop Podcasts from disappearing as soon as I play them

Hello, I an very new to Itunes. I am planning on buying a Ipod touch. So I downloaded and installed Itunes 8 on Windows Vista 64. Itunes imported all my podcasts from my zune. I started listening to the podcasts using Itunes and I have this problem. When I start listening to a podcast, the podcast immediatly is deleted from the list. Even before I have listened to it. If I switch to another podcast I cannot go back to the original one because it is gone.
How do I stop this behavior? I would like to manually delete the podcasts if it is not going to wait to delete it until I have finished listening to it.
The zune works well that way. If I switch to another podcast or something else when I come back it picks up where it left off. If I finish listening to the whole podcast then it is deleted.
That is how I would like this to work, can I set it up that way?

Agree ~ this change to Podcasts in iTunes is driving me nuts.
    Any ideas?

  • IPad 2, iOS 7.0.6, cannot stop music from shuffling

I cannot stop the Music app from shuffling songs.  I have tried the suggestions offered in related threads (such as navigating to the Now Playing screen, tapping the album cover, etc.) but those suggestions refer to buttons which do not appear on my screen.
    Thank you.

You may ignore my question.  I installed iOS 7.1 and the songs reverted to proper order.

  • How do I stop podcasts from automatically downloading?

I've tried everything including changing the settings for my entire library to just refresh the feeds, but iTunes is still automatically downloading episodes.
What is worse though, is many times its going back into certain feeds to download older, and usually years old, episodes, so that obviously clogs up memory and CPU space on my computer, with no seemingly end in site when dealing with podcasts that have episode numbers in the hundreds and for some reason the feed is downloading dozens of them from several years ago.
I don't understand that at all, in terms of why iTunes refreshing a feed would go back and download episodes going way back in the feed's history as opposed to the latest one, or the ones that showed up, since the last time the feed was refreshed, with the proper later dates, but I'd just want to stop the automatic process and just simply have all the feeds refreshed so I can pick and choose what I want to download, instead of all at once.  What am I doing wrong?

Go to iTunes > Preferences > Store and Uncheck the option to Sync podcast subscriptions, settings and stations, then set up each machine as you want it.

  • Stop podcast from playing the next one ??

    Hi guys,
How can I stop the iphone from playing the next podcast? I subscribe to a podcast and have about 20 shows that I have to listen to, but after it finish playing one, it goes to the next one and I dont want that. How could I tell the iphone to stop after finishing one podcast ?

Un-sync all your music to remove it from the device, then restart (hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go). Now re-sync your music.

  • How do I stop it from shuffling tracks in the ipod app?

I have put an audiobook onto the iphone but it shuffles the tracks. There used to be a blue shuffle button in the ipod mode but this has disappeared... It's really frustrating that I can't play the book in order!

Thanks for replying, I have the progress bar, a repeat button, a go back 30 seconds button and a change speed button. The latter two are new and I have no recognisable shuffle button. Weirdly though, since I went back and played with all of these just now, it has stopped shuffling them. So while I still don't know how to change the shuffle setting, at least I can listen to the book!

  • How do I stop podcasts from playing automatically on my Apple TV instead of my computer?

When I try to watch a video podcast on my computer, it will automatically connect to my Apple TV via AirPlay and try to play it there (even though I have just double-clicked it on my computer). But sometimes I just want to play it on my computer, not on the Apple TV. Once it does go to Apple TV, then I have to go to the bottom of the computer screen and switch from Apple TV to computer. But I would prefer not to have to do this, since the process needlessly turns on my Apple TV every time (and sometimes my Apple TV doesn't work properly, meaning that if the connection can't get established, I can't watch the podcast at all because it won't just let me play on my computer from the beginning). How do I prevent it from automatically going to the Apple TV every time, and just get it to play on my computer? I feel like I've looked at every setting. Thanks

'''Turning off updates for firefox isn't a good idea''', as each release contains security fixes that are disclosed to the public. However, you can if you want to. Go to the firefox preferences (type about:preferences in the url bar), choose the "advanced" tab, and then choose "update". You can then select "never check for updates".

I don't want to turn off updates. I want hotshot programmers to N-O-T configure Firefox to CHANGE what I have set up on my computer. I want them to N-O-T remove stuff from Firefox that I use every day. I can't even remember what they called that list of options in the upper left of the screen, but I used it regularly. Now it is ripped out. $&^*&&^%$#@
I guarantee you, if somebody had sat down at MY computer and removed those features, I would have beat him bloody. WHY DO SOME HOTSHOTS SOMEWHERE THINK THEY KNOW BETTER THEN i DO WHAT i NEED??????
DON'T force me to use my computer as you use yours. Give me the OPTIONS to choose. Options. Not YOUR WAY - options.
Like I said, it looks to me like you're trying to impress hot shots some where. Don't destroy perfectly good applications in the process. Give S-O-M-E thought to what non-geeks NEED.
AND when pseudo answering complaints, give us the chance to talk to somebody, not que up on a yet another pick list of off subject nonsense.

  • How to stop playlists from shuffling

My playlists started shuffling themselves and I can't work out how to stop them - need help please!!

Start playing a song - any song.
Tap on the album artwork area to bring up the scrubber for the song playing.
To the left of the scrubber is the repeat icon/selection. To the right of the scrubber is the shuffle icon/selection.
If the color of the shuffle icon/selection is blue, shuffle is selected. Select the icon to change the color of the icon to white which means it is off.

Had all these issues.  Bit the bullet and downloaded the Downcast App ($1.99).  Much better expereince and a lot more features.  Sad.

  • How do i stop my iPhone iTunes from Shuffling songs?

I cannot figure out how to stop my iPhone Music/iTunes from shuffling songs but instead to play them in order.

In the Music app, tap the screen to bring up an extra menu bar showing the current song's timeline.  In the lower right is a pair of crossed arrows -- when enabled (blue), shuffle is on, tap it to turn shuffle off (gray).
Edited to add: That's when you've got the album cover image up, if you're on the track listing, tap the upper-right corner to bring it back to cover art view.  The other two indicators/buttons on the bottom of the same bar are "repeat" (bottom left) to repeat the current track or playlist (two options), and "genius" (bottom center) to generate playlists of songs similar to the one currently playing.

How can I STOP iTunes from automatically trying to add podcasts to my iPod when I plug it in and sync it, so I can manage the files? I have already unchecked "Sync Podcasts" and "Automatically include,"yet EVERY time I sync it,it still transfers podcasts as the last step, and at other times randomly, when trying to just add some MP3's to a playlist, for example.  I can't seem to find any other option to uncheck, and can't find an answer from my so-far internet searching.

erict, you blew me away with that suggestion! It was something so simple I couldnt believe I hadnt thought of it! But in the end it didn't work, which I was really surprised about. On Windows anytime anything was moved itunes was hoplessly lost, but on this mac it still kept up with everything. I tried renaming folders, moving folders, and even renaming moved folders but it still kept trying to import.
I even went as far as deleting EVERYTHING i had moved to the Mac, which didnt really work. It still kept trying to import what wasnt there which made it continue to freeze up. However, after doing this it, the freezing was not nearly as bad. It gave me enough of a break to cancel it through the itunes dialog box at the top of the app. So in the end, thats all I really needed to do, only before I had deleted everything the freezing would not allow me to do it.
So now Im reimporting everything again, only slowly, and only a few Artists at a time.

  • My iPhone 4 is not playing songs in order even though shuffle is off. How do I stop this from happening?

I have the shuffle option off on my iPhone 4 but when I listen to an album it does not play the songs in order. How do I stop this from happening?

This is the control DaVBMan is talking about.  Tap the shuffle control until it shows white for shuffle off.

  • Podcasts cause shuffling to stop in playlists

The main playlist I listen two is made up of a mix of music and podcasts. I like to listen this way so I get a bit of music then a bit of talking, like listening to the radio. I also like to listen to this on shuffle, so it comes up in a random order.
However, when I listen to this playlist on my iPhone, I select the playlist, hit shuffle, ad all is fine, until it gets to a podcast, and then shuffling seems to stop.
Is there anything I can do to stop this happening?
In iTunes I've made sure "skip whilst shuffling" is set to "no" for al the podcasts, but this seems to make no difference.
Also, as a workaround I've tried to make the smart playlist ordered randomly, by setting a limit, and selecting the random criteria, but this doesn't seem to result in a particularly randomly ordered playlist on the iPhone.
(as an aside, I also wish smart playlists were live updating on the iPhone, my playlist is constructed to only contain unplayed podcasts; however, podcasts remain in the playlist even when they have been played)

I'm having a similar problem, as I like to listen to my podcasts in the same way and this method has been working well on my iPhone 3GS until now.
Since updating to OS4, my synced playlist won't play podcasts on shuffle. When it hits a podcast it either: 1.Plays the podcast, stops shuffling and continues playing at that point in the list, or 2.Doesn't play the podcast and automatically skips backs to the first song on the list.
I've also tried making a mixed music and podcast list on the iPhone, however this didn't play the podcasts at all.

    Helo utahskierdave,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you would like to delete podcasts from your Apple TV that have already been deleted from iTunes. In this situation, I would recommend reading over the following post and using the troubleshooting steps within.

    PowerBook G4 867   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Unfortunately, as you noted, not all apps are listed by backwards compatibly, and lack of it is often a bug later fixed.
The really odd thing here is that the latest version of 1 Password (3.1.1) was released 4/20/10, well before iOS4.... It most definitely IS compatible with 3.1.3 and in fact ISN'T 4.x tested. This can be re-downloaded
1 Password Pro (3.5), is a new app which was just released for 4.0, and won't install in 3.x phones. It is a new app, not an update of 1 Password, and downloading it doesn't replace the original 1 Password either in iTunes or the phone
I suggest Hecubus79 delete 1 Password Pro and re-download 1 Password 3.1.1, if it's really gone, and contact the developer for a refund for the Pro version.
