Stopping the Fade to Black on Ken Burns Slide Show?

I am trying to make a slideshow using the Ken Burns template. I want to be able to make a loop-able file (.mov or other), so I can make a looping DVD. At the end of my sideshow, there is a one second fade to black - Is there any way to stop that fade out or is there another way to do this effect without the fade out?
Thanks in advance!

  • Why can't I use the fade to black and white option in iMovie '11?

I have a project that uses a few photos with one minute duration timers I want to slowly fade from color to black and white but the fade to options are all greyed out... Am I over looking something or doing something wrong?

....it's the color in the pictures I want to gradually reduce the saturation on until they are black and white before the transitions start, not fade in or out to a black or white screen like you are suggesting.
Sorry, but I wasn't suggesting that you use Fade to Black or Fade to White, just explaining what they do, given that you used the term "fade" in your first post. I assumed you may have been using the Fade to Black transition (which won't achieve what you want).
I suggested that you use Cross Dissolve, but I need to explain further how to achieve the effect you are looking for. First, you need to place a copy of the photo directly after the original. Make sure Ken Burns is turned off - use Fit. Now double-click on the copy to bring up the Clip Inspector. Click on Effects and select Black & White, then click Done. Drag a Cross Dissolve transition between the 2 clips (photos) and adjust the duration to your liking in the Inspector. Now you will see the effect your are looking for.
The key is to have an exact copy of the photo following the original, then change the copy to Black and White (or Sepia or any other effect), then insert the Cross Dissolve (or Cross Blur etc.) transition.
Hope that''s what you are looking for!

  • How to adjust the green (starting) and the red (end) rectangles pixel by pixel (top, bottom, left and right) by changing the number of pixels in ken burns.

How to adjust the green (starting) and the red (end) rectangles pixel by pixel (top, bottom, left and right) by changing the number of pixels in ken burns. Help please.

If you look closely at the top of the canvas pane, as you move either of the boxes (green or red) there is an indication of pixel positions... "top, bottom, left, right," and "scale."
Admittedly, it doesn't seem as if you can "enter" the dimensions with your keyboard, however, as you move the boxes, you have a real time indication of the boxs' locations.
(I couldn't take a screen shot, as you have to actively move the box with a mouse or other input device... thus, I could not also take a screen shot with same device.)
    I hope this helps.

My iphone doesn't ring when it's unlocked .. i have calls but the screen still black and when i slide to unlock the screen i found i had missed calls
i have tried manythings but it doesn't work
i put it in silent mode and i found my calls comes normaly and it works good but when i turn on ring mode it's back as it how can i fix that ?!

Basic troubleshooting steps outlined in the user guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new device.  Try each of these steps until your problem is solved. If these steps fail to solve your issue, then you'll need to bring your phone into Apple (or an authorized service provider in your area) for evaluation.

If you only have PSE, then output your slideshow as a wmv file and use whatever  software you have to create the video dvd, even something like Windows DVD maker. If you also have Premiere Elements, then send the slideshow there for finishing.

I think this link will offer some good insight. I would recommend moving the library to an external HD if you are already using iPhoto on your MBP. If you do decide to move the library directly to your MBP just make sure you are using a different enough name for it that your MBP can easily locate each library independently.

  • FCPX crashes the entire system when applying Ken Burns

When applying Ken Burns to an image, when repositioning the start and/or end frame the entire system locks up, not just FCPX. The cursor can still be moved, but other than that the entire system is unresponsive and the only solution is turning off my iMac and rebooting. That is how the problem started, a few days later during the same process the entire screen turns black and rebooting is once again the only way out.
Is anyone else familiar with this problem?

There's a little icon that appears in the Project on top of each picture that has Ken Burns applied, click on that icon (it's a cropping square icon). that will bring up the Inspector and show you the red/green boxes that indicate the area where the zoom starts and ends for Ken Burns. If you drag the edges of both the red/green boxes individually to fit the entire picture, I think you will get the effect of not cropping. But it won't really be Ken Burns either because it won't zoom/pan across the image as it plays back.

  • Customizing pan and zoom (Ken Burns) slide by slide -- help

    Here's where I am:
I've imported a bunch of photos into iMovie and they are happily sitting in the Photos Pane.
Here's what I want to do:
Photo-by-photo I want to customize the Ken Burns effect to change the zoom and panning behavior.
    Here's what I am doing:
I select the first photo and change the zoom and pan behavior to my liking...then go to the next photo and do the same, and so on and so on...
    Here's what's happening:
With each subsequent photo, the previous pan and zoom settings are all changed to be identical to the changes I most recently made (i.e. all my previous changes are "deleted" and now all the photos have the exact same settings).
What am I doing wrong? Thanks a bunch!

Sorry to make this such a messy thread! (I couldnt' find any way to edit my previous post, so I am creating a new one summarizing where I am and the problems I am experiencing). I'm about ready to throw my Mac through the
    window...heeeeeeelllpppppp meee.....sssoomebodyyyyy!
So, trying to summarize my issues:
I'm having a rash of problems using iMovie.
Here is what I am trying to do:
Using photos from iPhoto Albums, I wish to create a movie/slideshow with pan/zoom, transitions, and music ultimately for import into iDVD for burning on DVDs to be views on televisions and/or computers.
    Here's what I am doing:
    1. In the Photo Pan I have the photos I wish to use from an album.
    2. I select one photo at a time, adjusting the pan/zoom behavior and duration one at a time (I realize you dont have to do each separately, but I like to customize this behavior slide-by-slide).
    3. Click on Update after each, thereby landing it in the timeline.
    4. I then selected ALL in the timeline and chose a transition (cross fade) to be applied to all.
    5. Now I've gone back to change the pan/zoom and the length on selected slides.
    6. [This part's a little hard to describe since I think more than one thing is going on at once...] When I change the length of a slide, it recompiles the transitions on either side of it (which I understand) and when it's done, the slide durations of the slides on either side of it have been markedly shortened (like from 4 seconds down to less than 1 second). I'll then get an error message saying the transiton cant be applied to very short clips (which I understand)...
    7. So, I'll then go to one of the recently-shortened clips to lengthen it's duration...and then the process starts over again, with the clip before it getting really short.
    8. The same thing seems to happen if I delete the cross-fade transition and insert a different one...slide durations keeps changing radically.
In addition to solving the problem above, here's a couple more questions I have:
    1. What part of the process do you set the length of the clips? (I was thining of 4 seconds a piece, but that wasn't long enough to accomodate the 1 second cross fade)
    2. What order should I apply the various settings? (pan/zoom, duration, transitions...)
    3. Later, assuming everything is okay with the timing and transitions and KB, if i want to change one transition between two photos, I tried deleting the cross-fade, then adding a new transtion. But in the process of the timing of the two photos changed preventing the new transition from fitting...). How do I go about this?
Clearly, I'm missing something here. This is so unintuitave...driving me nuts.
Thanks a ton for any help you can provide.

  • Ken Burns Export Shows Edges

A couple of months ago, I created a slideshow with manual Ken Burns settings. All (30) photos are horizontal. I exported to 'large' QT movie (with no music) and all looked perfect. Now I have made a few edits for timing, and added a couple more images. Previewing in iPhoto looks fine, but when I export it to large QT again, I see outside the edges on all the photos, including the ones not edited.
I am wondering if this difference may be from a QuickTime upgrade recently? I notice that listed on main Apple suport page/ Top Downloads there is a "reinstaller" for going back to QT 7.0.1 Could this be the issue?

I am using iPhoto 5.0.4 and get the same results on a desktop and laptop both with 1 gig of ram.

  • Burning slide show through idvd

My friend has a slide show of several hundred slides. He made it in iphoto. He would like to burn it to a dvd that will be able to play on a tv so he can send it off to friends that were also on the trip. On the iphoto board I was told to "share" "send to idvd". Can someone give me the steps from there?
Thanks! Hope I am posting this in the right place!

    Hi jersey:
I would suggest saving the iDVD project as a disk image and burning it with the disk utility. That way when you can choose the slowest burn possible to make the best playing DVD possible.

    Use Verbatim DVD-R 4x or 8x (NOT DVD+R).
This is about the best step by step guide I can offer:
    Authoring with iDVD 5

There is a 99 slide limit in iDVD 5 that Ken Stone helps you with in the link above.

  • How do you increase the size of a video clip in slide show?

Using Elements 7. Video clips can be run in full screen when from the Organizer, but when playing the slide show, they only display about 1/3 the size of the screen with a large black border around them.

Thought I'd try this just in case they are stripping out attachments.

    David,
Below is an extract from a discussion I had with others on forums who had your current dilemma. Adobe's answer is generally to use Adobe Premiere Elements to burn the DVD; if you have it installed there is a additional option to burn to DVD on that menu. However, you may have other choices.
If you have a DVD burner, want to make a PSE 3 or 4 slide show that plays on a TV DVD player, and do not have Premiere Elements:
    - create a WMV file using DVD NTSC or DVD PAL (according to your country TV standards) as the OUTPUT parameters
    - then read the doc that came with the software that supports your DVD burner (might be Nero, Sonic, Roxio) looking for a function that will create a Video DVD (note that it must specifically be creating/authoring a VIDEO DVD intended for play on TV rather than just burning a data DVD). Once you find this function, use your WMV file from PSE 4 as the input and choose the software options that give you a video DVD.
Based on my experience and conversing with others on forums, this will give you a DVD that is significantly better quality than the Elements VCD (written to a CD) and but not quite as good as a program that does a slide show direct to DVD. Quality is a subjective judgement, so I am not saying this is the answer for everyone. However, my philosphy is generally to try the software I have first before purchasing additional software.
Notes: For Sonic, I used a MyDVD limited edition that came with my burner. For Nero, I communicated with someone who did it with Nero Vision Express. I don't have any specifics for Roxio.
Notes: Creation of the WMV will almost always take a long time - depending on the number of slides and the number and type of transitions, zooms, pans. Each photo must downsized in resolution, then each individual type of motion must be applied; these photos must then become frame per second video (a significantly different format translation). All this takes time and processor power.

  • Error burning Slide Show to DVD

In the completion stage of the DVD burn in PreE 4 I receive the following error message.-  Device error - Sense Code (37304) -program memory area / rma update failure.
Can anyone tell me what the problem may be? Previously i have burned a slide show successfully. Now, after 2 trys for this slide show I receive this same error message.
    Sanray19

This error can display two reasons
    1. Bad quality disc solution : Use  a new disck
    2. DVD driver is incorrect or Power supply or disconnect the cable while encoding process is ongoing. : solution : Burn it again.
    3. You are working long time in editng, this scenario memory would increased, so that application would not get enough memory generate  encoded file.  Solution : Restart and burn again.

  • Burning slide show to dvd

How do i burn my photo slide show i created in i-movie to a DVD? i tried doing from idvd but it wont play on my pc?

I recommend you study the iDVD tutorials from Apple.
If you feel like you know what you are doing and you have followed the tutorials, you may have a failing DVD drive. Call Apple for help getting the DVD drive repaired.
iDVD tutorials should be available in iDVD under Help menu.
