Storage after syncing

I just went thru 2 hours of updating my iphone 4
I had to b/c I could no longer take pictures of my daughter b/c I kept getting "storage almost full" and "storage full" many times.
I have 13.68GB capacity
4.4 is designated to "other" - what is this OTHER and how can I get rid of it?! I have 1 app, 6.7GB music and .33 of pictures....I'm already down to 2gb free, and I can fill that in days with my baby. I dont know what to do. Please help.

I found this in another thread. Otherwise you may have to restore as new

Re: iPhone 4 'Other' Space is 6.8GB!?!?!

I found this elewhere, but it worked for me.
On your iPhone, go to Settings>General>Usage. Swipe the Music line to the left and press delete. IMMEDIATELY shut the phone off-don't exit or anything like that. When you turn on your phone and connect it to iTunes, you may find a huge chunk of your "other" space gone.
When I first did it, it scared the living daylights out of me, but it worked. My other space was quite a bit smaller, but I now have 0.1 GB of other space.

  • My iphone 4s ran out of storage after syncing to my laptop

    Hi everyone!
Please help me.  Before I synced my ipad3 to my laptop, i still have available storage.  Now its totally nothing.
Also, almost all of my apps shuts down just seconds after I begin to use them.  I cannot understand what is happening.
Could it be the syncing, or the ios latest update.
    Thank you in advance.

Each update should be expected to use slightly more storage than its predecessor.
But regardless, it sounds like you need to remove a considerable amount from your iPhone.
Consider clearing stuff.  Perhaps in the future consider using Autofill described here:

I just updated my iPhone 4 to iOS6.  In the process, I ran into a problem and had to restore factory settings.  After syncing the phone, I see that 218 apps need to be updated. When selecting "update all," it says "Cannot Download.  There is not enough available local storage to download these items.  You can manage your local device storage usage in Settings."
How can this be the case when I haven't changed any apps from before updrading to iOS6, and I don't have any music yet on the phone?  Why is it telling me there is not enough local space?

    Hi RileyAvaCadenRiver,
If you recently updated your iPhone to iOS7, you will need to update iTunes on your computer to iTunes 11.1 or newer for it to correctly recognize the iPhone. You may find the following link helpful:

  • How can i fix the fact that my phone has no storage when my account after syncing has no storage?

What can I do to fix the storage on my iphone? after syncing it it says that i have over a GB but my phone says that i have no storage on it.

    Please explain

  • Even after syncing with iTunes, the usage amount on iTunes does not match what is on my iPhone.  iPhone says I have less that 1G of storage left, while iTunes says I have 6G of storage.  Why is this??

I can't tell how much storage I have left on my device.  Even after syncing, iTunes shows that I have 6G of storage left.  My phone says I only have 325MB of storage left.  When I try to update my apps on my phone, I'm told that I don't have enough space available.  Why is this, and how can I correct this?  Thanks!

    Howdy mamat2004,
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities.
From your post I understand that even though you have imported and deleted all of the photos from your iPhone, it is still showing as if the photos were still located on the device.  To start troubleshooting this issue I'd like you to please reset the iPhone.  If the issue persists then please put the device into recovery mode, and then select the option to Update in iTunes.  Choosing this option will reinstall iOS without erasing any of your personal data.
To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

I am having trouble removing songs from my iPhone.  i have unchecked songs in the library on my mac, but they still show up on phone after syncing.  how do I remove them?

    Hi asims01,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The information below may be able to answer your questions about how to delete songs from your iPhone:
Deleting songs downloaded to your device
    Tap the Music app.
Tap More > Songs at the bottom.
Scroll or search for the song you would like to delete from your device.
Swipe right to left on the song, and then tap Delete.
Note: You must be in Artists, Songs, or Albums view to delete songs from your device. Deleting from a playlist won't remove a song from your iOS device.
Also, this information can be found on page 64 of the iPhone User Guide for iOS 7
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1565/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf
Remove a song from iPhone. Tap Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete. The song is deleted from iPhone, but not from your iTunes library on your Mac or PC, or from iCloud.
If you have iOS 7, this will delete the song from local storage, but the song will still appear with a cloud symbol in the Music app, as you've noticed. To hide the iTunes in the Cloud purchases, navigate to Settings > iTunes & App Store, and disable "Show All: Music”
There may be a few orphaned songs on your iPhone that were partially downloaded or corrupted in some way. If that is the case, you can erase all of the music from your phone.  Follow the instructions below and select the Music app under Usage:
iPhone, iPad, and iPod: Understanding capacity

I hope this information helps ....

  • I update my IPhone4 to IOS6 from IOS4.3.3. My all songs are missing in the Iphone4. How to get those songs into my Iphone from ITunes. Even after sync also not coming to IPhone.

I update my IPhone4 to IOS6 from IOS4.3.3. My all songs are missing in the Iphone4. How to get those songs into my Iphone from ITunes. Even after sync also not coming to IPhone.

The iphone is not  storage/backup device.
The sync is one way - computer to iphone.
The only exception is itunes purchases.  File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
You should copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

  • TS1425 I cannot eject my ipod classic after sync with i-tunes on my pc. It states some of the files are being used by other applications. What does this mean? How can I get it to eject?

I cannot eject my new ipod classic after sync with i-tunes on my pc due, it states, to open files being used by another application. What does this mean? How can I get my ipod to eject?

If it's a one-time "glitch," you can try restarting your computer with the iPod still connected.  Try ejecting again after the restart.
If the problem recurs, you may have a process running (other than iTunes) that is accessing the iPod's storage.  When connected, the iPod's "disk" is like other mounted volumes.  This process may be some type of utility that continously monitors your mounted volumes for security reasons, such as to prevent access by malware.
If you know of such a program that you have running in the background, there may be a setting to exclude your iPod's disk.

  • Lost 500mb of space after syncing ipod touch 4g

hello guys. i synced my ipod touch 4g yesterday to remove a single photo. my ipod has no songs, videos or anything else. after syncing, i was notified that i have a little space left (the one which asks you to go to settings or something, i forgot.) i got 600+mb b efore and i have 100 after. can i still take it back? it has only 8gb. i checked the other with phonecleaner and after cleaning, it doesnt reduce the "other" space. is there anything i can do with it? because my ipod has only 8gb of storage and every little bit of space help. thanks and sorry for my bad english

    OTHER
Connect the iPod to your computer and look at the storage used by the various categories as shown in the colored bargarph in iTunes.
    Come back with the results.
An "other" larger than about 1 1/2 GB indicates corrupted files.
What is the Other on my iPhone and How to Remove It
What is "Other" and What Can I Do About It?
Next, usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.

  • Error When Ejecting iPod After Sync

After syncing my Music Library to my iPod device, I clicked on the little "eject" symbol in the iTunes program window so that I could unplug my device. However, an error message popped up.
Error Box Title: mfac.exe - No Disk
Error Box Text: There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive D:.
After clicking either "Cancel," "Try Again," or "Continue" the same error box pops up a second time. After I make a second selection (and I tried all possible combinations of those three options), the window disappears and a new error appears.
    2nd Error Box Title: iTunes
2nd Error Box Text: The iPod <my device name> cannot be ejected because it contains files that are in use by another application.
The only selection in this box is "Okay."
Needless to say, the iPod does not eject, and now I can't remove it from my computer. I tried closing and reopening iTunes, and then restarting my whole computer, but the problem persists. I have never used my iPod to transfer any files other than a synced music library, or enabled the "use as removable storage" option.
I am using a Windows 8.1 and iTunes version 12.1.2.27 64-bit. My device is an iPod Classic with software version 2.0.1.
    Thank you.

    Hello kmorrell11,
It seems you are unable to disconnect an iPod from your computer successfully. That does sound troublesome. Is the iPod recognized in iTunes while connected? If so, you may want to consider restoring the iPod to factory settings. I have included an article with the steps to perform a restore. Once the restore is complete, you can attempt to resync media back to the iPod:
Use iTunes to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support

  • Got a strange problem, Can sync but after sync shows there is a problem and uninstalling

Ok I have the latest generation Nano, Windows 7 (64bit)
    - All windows updates
    - Correct and update Asus motherboard drivers
    - Latest iTunes 10.6 install (64 bit)  also have uninstalled and reinstalled
    - Already restored iPod through iTunes
    The Problem:
I connect the USB cable, the iPod connects and syncs correctly
Windows Devices and Printers shows the iPod in there no problem
IMMEDIATLY  after sync the Devices and Printers shows the ipod with a yellow bang (exclamation mark)  go to properties "error 21 uninstalling"
(go to more information says "usb Mass storage device is not working properly"  "problem with PnP device")
Other USB Mass storage devices work fine (Thumb drives, hard drives, camera, webcam) - though I did take them off for troubleshooting sake.
I'm completly stumped, this is a pretty fresh reinstall of the OS, really not wanting to have to install it again, but if I have to I have to I guess.  I've uninstalled iTunes, Apple Mobile driver, and reinstalled at least twice now.  I have the correct and latest drivers from Intel, everything is up to date.
Also I've already gone into 'Disk Management'  I made sure there where no conflicting drive letters.
    Any other ideas?

I don't think it is caused by a hardware problem on the iPod, and any software problem on the iPod would be fixed with a Restore (which you said you did already).  But can't rule out some odd hardware issue.
Try the "test" this way...  Connect the iPod with iTunes running (disk mode enabled).  In Windows, it should appear as a removable storage device.  Eject the iPod's disk using Windows.  I don't know exactly how you do it in Windows 7, but it would be the same thing you do to eject a USB flash drive or external drive, before disconnecting it.
So, with iTunes running, if you use Windows to eject the iPod (instead of iTunes), does that error come up?
ever time I connect the iPod get a pop up in the sys tray showing it's installing mass storage
That "pop up in the sys tray" does not happen every time you connect another type of "mass storage" device, like a USB external drive or flash drive, correct?  It only happens with this iPod?

  • I have deleted all photos off my ipad but it is still showing 5 gig of photos in itunes after syncing

I have deleted all the photos in my ipad and it is still showing 5 gig of photos in itunes even after syncing.

I don't see an issue, but if you mean why didn't you get most of your memory back you need to see what else is using storage. Go to Settings/General/Usage. Wait a bit for it to calculate storage allocation, then when it finishes you can see how much storage each app uses.

  • After syncing iPhone 6 (iOS 8.0.2) music is unplayable and shows up as 80 GB of "other"

After syncing iPhone 6 (iOS 8.0.2) music is unplayable and shows up as 80 GB of "other". The most recent backup also has this problem. Have I lost everything? I tried unsyncing all music and apps and re-syncing but the 80 GB other seems out of m

When I look in usage on my iphone the storage only shows my current apps, contacts, photos, etc the 80 gb is absent and unavailable.
