  • Does the 7th generation ipod nano have the same storage capacity as the 4th generation ipod nano

Just bought a ipod nano 7th generation to replace my 16gb 4th generation nano as its battery life is getting shorter
Went to load my library on to my new ipod and it could not take all the songs, wheras my 4th generarion had room to spare
so i have had to uncheck a lot of songs to get my new ipod to accept loading
my guess would be around 300 mb
Is this difference right when they are both rated as 16gb and showing on itunes at keast the same storage capacity?

Need to add I have restored the ipod twice with no change to storage capacity
    'others' is showing
    4th gen    119 mb
    7th gen 136 mb

  • Storage capacity of the iPod Classic

I see a consistent breakdown of playback capacity for the line up of iPods that goes like this:
    -Classic - 160GB - 36 hours of music playback & 6 hours of video
    -Touch - 8GB - 30 hours of music playback & 6 hours of video
    -Touch - 32GB - 30 hours of music playback & 6 hours of video
    -Tourch - 64GB - 30 hours music playback & 6 hours of video
This makes no sense to me. Surely having more storage capacity results in the ability to play back more music and video.
I bought the iPod Classic specifically because I assumed it had much more playback capacity than the iPod Touch. Is this not the case for some reason?
Can somebody explain this to me please?
    LD

What your looking at is the playback time of the battery on a full battery charge, not the capacity of the iPod. Enjoy your Classic.

  • Would a flash storage issue affect the battery being charge?

I received a notice about my macbook air and defective flash storage. I brought my macbook into an apple store on Saturday to have the firmware updated. Since then my macbook has been unable to charge the battery with the adaptor plugged in. I am wondering if the flash storage has anything to do with this?  I have not had an issue with the battery charging or not charging before this.

  • Design capacity of the battery

    Hi all,
I had my macbook pro retina 15', ten months ago. I change two times the logic board (I have no idea why I had this problem but was a software one. I notice it because the screen was black. Then Apple change 3/4 of the laptop). Now I calibrate my battery but I notice that only after 384 cycles I have a design capacity of 8460 mAh with a maximum charge of 7383 mAh then a capacity of 87.3%. It is my first mac and I want to know if it is normal or not. Please let me know

  • How can I increase the storage capacity in Linux for installing Oracle 11g?

    Hi all,
I've been searching in Internet information about how to increase the storage capacity of a Linux machine, so that it can help me with my problem without success. I tried to execute some command lines encountered in some tips in forums, but no one works.
I want to install an Oracle 11g database, which needs 4 GB minimal for the installation. I can not continue with the installation because of this problem.
I use a VMWare virtual machine, which I increased over its settings to 160 GB, but not its file systems or whatever in the machine.
    I did this:
    [root@localhost ~]# df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
    /dev/sda3 18G 15G 1.9G 89% /
    /dev/sda1 190M 12M 169M 7% /boot
    none 506M 0 506M 0% /dev/shm
    /dev/hdc 699M 0 699M 100% /media/cdrom
As far I understand the bigger storage capacity is used by the file system /dev/sda3. But what about the rest, I mean the 140 GB?. I've already increased the storage capacity over the settings. How can I tell the machine "please use the remaining 140 GB for the installation of the Oracle DB and other needed installations?.
How can I increase here what?. Disk? File system? Volume Group? It can not be so difficult, can it?
There are no volume groups in the machine:
    +[root@localhost /]# vgdisplay+
    +No volume groups found+
Linux is too complicated. Unfortunately I have to do that in Linux :-(
Can someone help me? I sit here since long hours without finding a solution :-(

    thanks for your answers.
    To Dude:
You can address the problem in a number of different ways, but please post your version of Linux and provide more information about your current partitions
The Version of Linux is Linux Red Hat Enterprise 5.
Open Logical Volume Management from the System Administration menu.
Select your volume from the logical view, edit properties and then use the slider to set your volume size, or click "remaining" to extend your partition.
I've already opened the LVM from the System Administration menu, but there is no possibility to see the volume groups, because there is no one. There is no tabs like Volume Groups or something like that...
I would try the procedure described above your answer and write you again. I hope it works...I will write you back in a few minutes...

  • Deleting files on time machine - why doesn't the storage capacity refresh??

    Quick question,
After I permanently delete a file off time machine (something that has storage mass ~3 G), I am not seeing the storage capacity of the time capsule refresh with a higher number. In other words, before the file was deleted from all backups, the time capsule disk read 399 G available. After I permanently deleted the backups for this 3 G file, the available storage capacity was still 399 G. I checked to make sure the file was deleted from the back-up volumes and it was. Do I have to wait sometime before the time capsule updates the available storage capacity. Just curious.

remote TM backups are stored inside sparse bundles. if you open your TC in finder you'll see it. when you delete something from a sparse bundle it doesn't automatically compact and recover the free space. TM will use it up again in future backups. you can also manually compact the sparse bundle from terminal if you really want to.
    the terminal command is
    sudo hdiutil compact /path/to/sparsebundle
you have to put the correct unix path to the sparse bundle in the command and enter your admin password when prompted for it.

  • Freezing, storage capacity and battery life

I have a 60GB iPod "Photo" (color display) which I recently received as a trade-in battery replacement from Apple to repalce my old one that was five years old. When I started using it, I had trouble with it freezing or "locking-up" during play, the number of songs seemed to be inordinately small compared to the number I had before (before I had >6300 songs but when I put 750+ on it, it filled about 40% of the capacity) and the battery would run down very fast. I never had that kind of trouble with my old iPd Photo. I kept having to reset it and I even did a restore on it. I found a suggestion in here to refomat it through Windows but I was unable to accomplish that in XP SP4. I decided to go ahead and restore it anyway, then try again anyway. After I restored it, I selected the option to have 128Kbps bit rate as the preferred setting (I hadn't selected this option in my earlier formatting and restores) and to convert songs downloaded to the unit to that bit-rate. Lo and behold, since I did that early Friday A.M., I put 1200+ songs on it and it took up only 5.5GB of space, I haven't had a freeze-up and I haven't had to do a reset, and the battery seems to last. So if you have the type of problems that seem to crop up often in the discussions here, try making sure you have selected the 128Kbps bit-rate. You may have to restore and erase all your music and re-download it, but it will be worth it.

Probably isn't a battery issue. I'd suspect two things: individual songs and hard drive. Keep track of which songs are playing when the iPod crashes and play them on your computer. It doesn't happen often, but sometimes a song gets munged on your computer and this can cause the iPod to crash.
Second, there might be a hard drive problem, either bad sectors or bad files on it. If the songs are fine on your computer then I'd suggest performing a 'restore' which will erase the drive. Then add songs. Note I said restore erases the drive. If a file on your iPod was damaged, or if the program code was munged, this will fix it. However, if the hard drive has bad sectors only a format and then restore will fix it.

  • Storage capacity after iOs 5.0.1?

Hi everyone, I updated my iPod touch 4, 64g model with iOs 5, the battery life *****, and noticed that the  disk capacity diminished from 59 to 58 gigs (this doesn't include the ''other'' folder) I mean the overall storage capacity of the ipod. Should I  update to iOs 5.0.1? for battery life, is it really worth it? And another question is what's the real storage capacity after iOs 5.0.1? I hope some of you guys who have already updated your ipod 4 64g can help me decide. What's your experience? Should I do the OTA update or over iTunes?
    Thanks!!!

The storage capacity on my iPhone 4S with IOS 5.0.1 is 57.4GBs. As you know, this is the formatted capacity of the device. The raw storage is 64GBs but you'll never get this with any operating system (e.g. 'droid) b/c no OS is 100% efficient between formatted and unformatted capacities. The used 6.6GBs may also include IOS and 92 Apps but I cannot verify it.
On the other hand I "lost" only 700MBs on my MPB hard-disk once it was formatted. So there's something inefficient or something I cannot account for in my iPhone 4S.

  • I've been having problems with the battery draining within half an hour of it being fully chargers. I have an iPhone 5c and haven't had it for long. How do I get the troubleshoot email to check it out? iPhone 5c

I have been having issues with my battery capacity. The battery will drain within half an hour with it being fully charged when the battery normally lasts me all day. I haven't had the phone that long so it most definitely shouldn't be happening. I went to my service provider about the problem and he said to go into the apple website, click "support" and then "battery capacity issues" to which you then type in your email to troubleshoot the problem on your phones however, I cannot find this. Someone help me out!

He may have been referring to: https://www.apple.com/support/contact/
On the linked page, click "Get Started" then on the next page click "iPhone" then on the next page "Battery, Power & Charging" then "Battery questions or troubleshooting"

  • On iPad 2 can files be compressed on HD to increase storage capacity?

I bought my daughter an iPad 2 3rd generation.  I know the HD capacity is 16 Gb and iOS 7.01 takes up about
1 Gb of het capacity, giving her about 15 Gb to use for apps and data storage. I have three questions about that.
Q1.  Can She use a flash drive to download apps and files to the flash drive, then access the flash drive as an
external data storage to view/listen to photos, video and music and; most important; can she download apps
and run them from the drive on the system itself if she does so?
Q2.  Can she compress the files on the HD to increase the storage capacity of the HD, and still have the ability
run the downloaded apps, view videos, etc.  Can she still access the compressed files, if she can do so?
Q3.  iPad 2 has no paper guide or owner's manual, but. Apple has an ipad Guide (140pp) that can be down-
loaded and viewed. Can she download iPad User/Owners "Guide for iPad Using OS 7.01 ondto her iPad and
put an icon for it on her iPad desktop for easy reference?
    Thank you for your help.

Q1. There are compatible flashdrives tha allwo you to do this through their own Apps such as the Sandisk Wireless Flash Drive among others.   http://www.sandisk.com/products/wireless/flash-drive/  It cannot eb done with regular flash drives though.
Q2.  No. No compression is available on the iPad.
Q3. She can bookmark the iPad's manual website and place an icon on the home screen for the url, or download the Book version to iBooks for free.
Just tap on Arrow coming out of a box icionin Safari, and then tap on Place on Home Screen.

  • Does it harm the battery if the macbook stays turned off for a few months?

I might be in a situation where I will not use my macbook for a few months. A family member may use it occasionally, but it would be turned off most of the time. Does this hurt the battery or other aspects of computer performance?

From the User Manual: "Storing your MacBook If you are going to store your MacBook for an extended period of time, keep it in a cool location (ideally, 71° F or 22° C) and discharge the battery to 50 percent. When storing your computer for longer than five months, discharge the battery to approximately 50 percent and then remove it from your MacBook. To maintain the capacity of the battery, recharge the battery to 50 percent every six months or so."
