Storage cells: System Events and System Defined Thresholds

I have an Exadata V1 (yes, I do) and I recently saw this flag up as an alert on one of my storage cells:
2 2013-02-19T17:15:50-05:00 critical "39:Temperature:Threshold based -- Upper Non-critical going high State: asserted"
3 2013-02-19T17:15:50-05:00 critical "255:System Event:System Event -- PEF action : 7 State: asserted"
4 2013-02-19T17:15:51-05:00 critical "39:Temperature:Threshold based -- Upper Non-critical going high State: deasserted"
Basically, for one second, it appears that the temperature threshold was exceeded. This doesn't surprise me as the V1 machine is: a) very tightly compressed into a small box, b) is old, c) is HP.
Because of a bug in our version of the ESS, we just use the system-defined thresholds on the storage cells. I have two questions:
1) How can I find out the system-defined thresholds - or at least the thresholds that the storage cell is using
2) How can I find out what the 'System Event - PEF action: 7' is?

hmmm... I had an issue with an Exadata X2 some time ago when a user-defined temperature threshold was not giving alerts (later documented in MOS note 1380758.1/bug 13387575 and fixed in 11.2.3.1.0 by the way). At the time I was told that there's no way to see build-in thresholds in cellcli.
As far as the specific error ID goes I don't know what it means, but I'd suggest checking HP iLO documentation in addition to regular Oracle channels.

  • CProject 4.0  evaluations - Define Threshold Values

    Hello All
    I need to set the Threshold Values so that the status icons can be showed on the dashboard.
    I followed the installation guide but i wasn't`t so clear for me, the system provides some templates.
    But most of the templates that appears on the 000 client are referred to resource asignment or work accomplishment. At this moment i need to set the alerts by schedule. Meaning that we want to set an alert depending on how far is the real date from the scheduled on task, checklist, etc
    I would like to know if there are any documentation about how to configure this or anybody can give me a hint on this subject?.

    The documentation is a little 'thin' in this area and the 'Define Thresholds' function is a bit strange to use.
    So here's an example:
    Assume that I have created an evaluation that includes planned start date (SCHEDULED_START).
    Create a threshold value based on your evaluation, give it a name and choose 'TASK' for object category (you can leave it blank to mean all objects if you want to)
    Click on the "a/b" button and go into the formula definition.
    In here you build your formula by selecting fields, adding the operators (+ - > < = etc) and entering numbers or strings.
    The example formula below triggers a threshold 5 days after the planned start date where the status is not complete.
    ( Calculated Start Date + 5 ) > Current Date AND System Status for an Object as a String <> 'I1702'
    You can also toggle between this view and the 'Technical' view which allows you to type the formula in directly using field names (example below):
    ( SCHEDULED_START + 5 ) > SYST-DATUM AND SYSTEM_STATUS <> 'I1702' AND TSK_TYPE = 'ZPF_STANDARD'

    Hi,
    The answer is no.
    There is no need to backup the OS of the storage cell.
    Worst case a complete storage cell needs to be replaced. A field engineer will open your broken storage cell and take out the onboard USB and put it inside the new storage cell.
    The system will boot from this USB and you can choose to implement the 'old' configuration on the new cell.

    Every time I boot up my laptop System Events and coreservicesd take up to 85% of my CPU. It takes about 10 minutes for it to finally go away and it makes my fans blare. If I'm in a public place I force quit system events which makes them both go away. What in the world causes this and how can I fix it?

    I'm having this same problem. It is related to Growl, and perhaps a recent update of Growl to 1.1.3. I'm trying to figure out a way to fix this without uninstalling Growl, since I find this app very useful.

    You cannot provide default values for any attributes defined in the FormMetaData.xml file. You can only provide default values for fields defined in the User Defined Fields and supply a default value.
    You can using entity adapters to populate some of the values, but you must supply an Organization because there is an entity adapter that you cannot modify that verifies the organization name.

    You can't check your usage on the iCloud website - you have to do this from the iCloud prefs pane, which you don't have. If you are only using it for email you would have to be storing an awful lot of messages to exceed 5GB. If you are concerned about this you can download some of them to your Mac and off iCloud.
    To do this simply create a folder under 'On My Mac', go to the iCloud mailbox, select some of the messages and drag them to the folder you created. Don't try to do too many at once (say more than 100) and allow time for them to download.
    If you haven't yet set Mail up to access iCloud, but are simply using the website, you can set it up as detailed here:

    If you do decide to upgrade, the latest version of iPhoto is only £10.49, though MS Office is more of a problem. But you can go on as you are as long as your Mac holds out - Snow Leopard is a good solid system.

  • VC Error: There are no BI systems defined in portal/ no authorization

    Hi,
    when trying to launch the BI integration wizard on an iview in Visual Composer in the ESA Discovery system I get the follwing error message:
    "WARNING 2005: There are no BI systems defined in portal. In order to use BI integration wizard, you must first define at least one BI system based on the BI XMLA, BI ODBO, BI JDBC, or BI SAP Query Connector."
    When I click on the "Find data" button in VC I am able to see the names of BI systems in the System drop down box and can search queries and execute them. So the BI must be connected.
    I did not change the original configuration of portal or VC.
    When trying to launch the MDX editor or SQL editor I get the error message that I am not authorized to do this, but I am logged on as user admin or user j2ee_admin.
    Can somebody help me please

    Hi,
    After having finished with the SLD configuration involving defining the product, software component, TS and BS. Then I imported in the Integration Repository from SLD and then defined message interfaces, types etc. After that, in Integration Directory when I am trying to assign new business system (to expose business system of sld as service), it is not showing me the newly defined business systems of SLD in the Integration directory.
    Please suggest me a possible solution for this.

    It happens sometimes due to Meta Data Issue,
    Go for SLD Cache :
    To clear the SLD cache, from the Integration Builder main menu, choose Environment ® Delete Cache for SLD Data.
    Once we have deleted the cache for SLD data, accessing objects in the SLD may take longer than usual initially.
    Still If you are not able to see the Business System when trying to import the business system. Go to Objects tab in ID --> Business System and you will find the imported Business System --> Right Click and ADD to Scenario.

    I have the following problem. We were set up the XI in our company and now we are trying to configure and run it propertly. We had some problems so far and now there is the next one: I configured the simple scenario FILE-XI-FILE but it doesn't work <b>:(</b>. Every step from the scenario was completed successfully (after some problems) but when I have started runtime Workbench (RWB) in order to monitor the functionality of XI and I choosed <b>Component Monitoring | Components | Integration Server | Integration Engine GPI</b> I see that I have an error in Self-Test Status | <b>Are roles in SXML_CONF_ITEMS and SLD consistent</b>? In detail it's <b>No role for business system defined in SXMS_CONF_ITEMS</b>. My business and technical systems look to be well configured but now I'm hopeless because I can't find nothing more specific about <b>SXMS_CONF_ITEMS</b> table. I tried some notes and threads from the forum but nothing helped me after all. So please help if someone has an experience with something similar. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

    go to Scenario tab, Object -> New , Select the configuration scenario enter the configuration scenario name then save.
      Expand Service without party ->Select the business system and right click click on next, next select your business systemd.
    IF business system not appeared in ID..go to Environment -> Clear SLD data cache.
      again try to assign the business system.
