Storage Location HU managed

Dear gurus,
in the transaction HU02 I received the error message "torage locations 1800 and 1H00 must have different management systems".
How is possible to set the receiving storage location as "HU-manged"?

I guess you are getting message HUGENERAL004.
Try SM30 + V_T001L_L (field: V_T001L_L-LGORT)

Storage Locations Vs Plants

Dear Experts,
An appealing business case is to move to a world where locations currently set-up as "plants" (inventory managed but necessarily WM managed), can be mapped as "overflow" storage" locations as that indeed is the physical "truth".
Now given I am talking of a productive system with SD,MM,PP, LE, WMS, APO SNP, CTM are implemented, what all considerations do I need to keep in mind before fiddling with such a drastic change..
I can only think of some repurcussions..basis general and intuitive understanding of ECC-APO integration, but nevertheless this is a major change that needs systematic evaluation of all side effects. The case for benefits is simplicity, ease of planning, reducing number of "plannable" locations (on which MRP and CTM - supply distribution is run)
Example of the supply chain model
- I have a "site" that has 10 plants making 50 products not necesarily unique. e.g. 2 plants making same stuff, 2 others making some other stuff, one dedicated to one material etc. (no case of one plant making 2 products)
-I have storage locations that are currently (incorrectly) are used to manage "quality" status of stocks e.g. 0001 means good, 0002 means on hold, 0003 means near expired etc.
-I have WMS warehouses mappping to plants. not necessarily unique e.g. 5 plants and 3 storage locations is one warehouse and another 5 plants and 3 stoarge location is another warehouse. The need for warehouse is based on material groups needing different ambient stoarge conditions
-I have CTM implemented with quotas, rules and lanes defined from these plants to customer locatons.
-I have MRP being done on manufacturing plants (for procurement) with some storage locations being excluded
-I have SNP planning (for deployment) in supply network based on net requirements at plants (distribution centers)
-I have distribution plants with its own storage locations using stor locs to managae quality status of stocks
-I hire third party warehouses as needed and also defined as plants (DC's) that also has storage locations for managing quality status.
I am looking forward to some feelers and scare factors that such a replacement of plants to storage locations may entail. Obviously it means a lot of things.. changes to valution, WMS,pegging, CTM results etc.
Let me know if you want me to elaborate more on business context. Also please re-assure if such a change to a productive system is at all advisable plus any SAP warnings.. I browsed but didnt find much on such a "re-engineering" exercise.

Storage location restriction

Dear Experts,
our client has stroage location like STRM ,WHO4 and users X,Y.User X transfer material from STRM to WH04
and Y transfer material from WH04 to STRM.while they moving their stock they create annexure 1 and annexure 2 to
move material,but user X transfering the material WH04 to STRM,without any document,we tried removing authorization
WH04 for X,but x even can not move material from STRM to WH04.our aim is to restrict user X transferring the material from
WH04 to any other location.please suggest how to control this,

Try for authorisation of storage location:
Materials Management>>>Inventory Management and Physical Inventory>>>Authorization Management>>>Authorization Check for Storage Locations.you can restrict the user to use his storage location only by authorization object assigned to the user role.
OR
one simplw solution is , for production people create one storage location.
now after this assign this storage location in MRP2 view in prosution storage location field.
As storage location assigned in material master it automatically pick up in process or prodution order as a default here u can
if required grayed out the column.Due to this user has to issue material from production storage location.

Automatic Inbound Delivery Creation in HU Managed Storage Location

I have created PO, packing instruction, and packing instruction determination.
Storage location was set to HU managed already.
Now I want do GR for PO (with MIGO transaction) which can create inbound delivery automatically, and also do the packing process.
Which config/setting should I do?

In IMG-Logistics general-HUM-Basics-MM-IM-HU req for SL and default values for deliveries
Select the plant and click Sto Loc there u can find HU ReQ, Check that HU Req Box.
If you set this indicator for a storage location, the system does not create a material document when it carries out a posting, but creates a delivery via Shipping

Cycle count error "HU 100201 not in an HU-managed storage location" in LX26

I get the following error message "Handling unit 1000020118 is not in an HU-managed storage location" When i try to initiate a cycle count for a bin through LX26 Tcode. Kindly advice about the cause of the problem and how I can fix it.

Serial Numbers in Inventory Management – Warehouse Managed storage location

Serial Numbers in Inventory Management u2013 Warehouse managed storage locations
We want to run inventory cycle at the warehouse for materials. These materials are u2018serial numberedu2019 in the material master. During the initial entry (say GR) of the materials, systems prompt for the serial numbers. At this point, system offers option of assignments of serial numbers automatically.
While running an inventory cycle for warehouse u2013 and posting difference at WM level (LI01), system is throwing error as u201Cmaintain serial number for totol quantityu201D. System does not promt me to enter the serial number for the materials (count) which are found excess/shortage duing the inventory cycle.
Is there any configuration where this scenario can be managed; system should prompt us to enter serial number while posting differenes at WM level (LI20).
The inventory cycle is -
1.     Create Physical Inventory Documents - LI01N
2.     Activate Physical Inventory Document -      LI02N
3.     Enter Count -     LI11N
4.     Post Differences at WM level -     LI20
5.     Post Differences at IM level(If Differences are posted at WM ) -     LI21

Curious to know: The WM Inventory transaction - LI11N - (where we enter physical count. )
1. Compared to MI04 - IM Inventory Transaction: where a pop-up window asks for serial number of the material.
2. We expect a similar pop-up at LI11N transaction- where the system should ask serial numbers.
Q.1 How can we achieve this?
Q.2 Will this be a standard SAP practice? (if we do customizing to get serial nos. pop-up window at LI11N)

Diagnosis
The number range object was not defined.
Procedure
Maintain the specified number range object using Transaction SNRO.
I've customized number range for object LE_SSCC in SNRO.

Warehouer Management for existing storage locations...

We have several storage locations and only one of them was WM. All other storage locations do have stocks but they are not under WM. Now we decide to bring one of the other storage location under Warehouse Management... Which steps we should follow to avoid any future problems in the Warehouse?

Better to create the new storage location and than activate warehouse for that storage location than do the transfer from existing storage locaiton to the new with WM one.

Create a WM managed storage location

I have created a new Storage location which I would like to use to transfer materials to a warehouse storage bin.
How do I make it so that a storage location is connected to my warehouse? This is so that I can use MIG to transfer materials from a non-wm storage location to this new wm storage location.
My end goal is to transfer materials from this wm storage location and put them in a storage bin.

You need to assign the plant+storage location to a warehouse.
Go to SPRO -> Enterprise structure ->Assignment ->Logistics execution ->Assign warehouse number to plant/storage location.

I have a client process where i want to do a manual staging from a IM based storage location to production.
Is it possible to do a manual staging to production from an IM based storage location and if there are any process pl. let me know. post the t-code and the process and any documents/links related to it.

Can i use the Transfer posting for manual material staging to move the stock from IM based storage location to production.
Is it possible as i am not sure whether production has a separate storage location.
Please define your question... How can you expect an answer w/o knowing yourself what are you asking???
You asked about material staging from storage location to production. You can use MF60 (or MF60+MF65) for this purpose.
If there's no production storage location you can post only GI (mvt 261) e.g in CO27, MIGO, MB1A, etc.

MCHB,MARD - Stock available at plant level and storage location level

Hi ,
How to determine how much stock available at Storage location level and Plant level. (Lot is not maintained).
In MCHB-Stock at lot level is shown.
In MARD-Stock at Storage Location level is shown lncluding
the stock maintaned at the lot level.
If i want to know the stock which is not maintained in Lot, i.e, Stocks directly maintained at Storage location / Plant.
Do I need to subtract the MCHB Value from MARD Value ?
Is there any other way available to find the stocks which is not maintained at lot level.

What do u mean by stock maintained at SL level without batch level. Do u mean that some materials are subjected to batch management and some or not?
If that is the case, for all batch managed materials, u can see the stock at batch level and also same is summed up at SL level. But still what ever u are getting from MARD table isstock at SL level only.
If u have activated batch management for any material, it will always be shown at lot level also.

Change MRP type at storage location level

Morning,
i am having trouble with PD and ND reporting. Your you are aware ND should only have balances of 0 and PD should only have balances of >0. When i run a reportto show all PD stock and exclude the positive balances, i am getting MM numbers appearing that are 0 in 1 sLoc but have a positive stock balance in another sLoc. This becomes a problem when i change the PD to ND because it changes at plant level. i only want this to be changed at the sLoc with the 0 stock balance.
I have tried MM06 to flag the MM for deletion at sLoc level however, when running the report again, the sLoc with 0 stock balance still shows.
Also, i have about 800+ that need changing so a solution to do this in a batch would also be appreciated.

Go to IMG settings 'Materials Management + Consumption-Based Planning + Planning + Define Storage Location MRP per Plant' Enter your Plant, It will show list of storage location in that Plant, then select 2 in 'MRP Indicator' field for storage location for which u want to plan seperately.
