Storage Network Role - Is it implemented in 3.2?

The following link states that the Storage Networking Role is not functional and is for future use... this article is dated Nov. 2012. Can somone please confirm if this role is functional in Oracle VM Server 3.2?
The reason for asking is that I want to separate the storage traffic (iSCSI) from the network traffic.

I am using ths with 3.2.2: one network for storage and one for everything else. works fine. I even just confirmed with tcpdump that the proper networks are being used

    Hi guys,
I am new to Oracle so I have 2 basic Technology&Software questions for an RFI, which I wasn't able to find answered for EBS R12:
8.1 Please list any specific hardware requirements/prerequisites your company’s product may have with regards to the application & database servers, clients/workstations…
8.2 Please list any specific software requirements/prerequisites your company’s products may have with regards to the operating system, database….
I know it is pretty basic stuff, but would appreciate any kind of information on these topics.
    Thanks a lot!

  • Problem connecting two storage networks

    Hello,
I connect two datacenters with 10GB modules. I'm using single mode fiber, it has 10Km between datacenters. Now I need connect the storage network in both datacenters using the same fiber. The storage networks use FCoE.
What solution can I use to connect the two storage networks. My budget is really limited.
    Storage Network 1---------Network 1-------Fiber---------Network 2------Storage Network 2
    Thanks for the help.

    Brigid,
There seems to be two aspects:
One is to get the end points to coincide. You may tick View>Snap Guides, then click one path by the end Anchor Point and drag it to snap (Smart Guides say anchor when you are there).
The other is to get rid of the gap in the stroke(s), You may join the paths into one, dragging across the coinciding Anchor Points with the Direct Selection Tool and Ctrl/Cmd+J, or you may keep the separate paths and change the Cap to Round in the Stroke palette/panel which will give you a rounded outer appearance); I presume the former is what you wish, in which case you may choose between Round and Miter Join.

  • Forcing SMB traffic through Storage Network?

    Hello,
I am trying out a Hyper-V cluster in my lab using SMB 3.0. My current infrastructure looks like this:
    hvhost1
    NIC 1 - Network IP: 192.168.10.181
    NIC 2 - Storage IP: 192.168.100.181

    NIC 2 - Storage IP: 192.168.100.182

    NIC 2 - Storage IP: 192.168.100.186
Contrained delegation is setup on both HV Hosts for cifs\FSHost1.
I am able to successfully run VMs on both HV hosts while path to FSHost1 is set to either,
\\fshost1\<share>\<vhd> or \\192.168.10.186\<share>\<vhd>. However, I am unable to force the SMB connection through my storage network using path, \\192.168.100.186\<share>\<vhd>. I receive the following error:

Is this possible, and how might I go about getting this to work?

    Hi there Jonathan,
Thanks for the response! I am no longer running into the 'general access errors' as I am working around some constrained delegation issues in the environment. That is, you can't add an 'ip address' as a delegate within AD. Due to this, I run into the 'general
access error' delegation issue when I try using the unc path, \\192.168.100.186\<path>. I have to use the NetBIOS/FQDN name of the host which will migrate the VM across my VMNetwork segment (192.168.10.0/24 subnet).
With that said, I am still running into the issue where, when I specify the VM path with \\192.168.100.186\<path> (my Storage segment on 192.168.100.0/24 subnet) the SMB connection continues to communicate on my VMNetwork segment (192.168.10.0/24 subnet).
I'm not quite certain how to force the SMB communication over my Storage segment.
Moving forward, I plan on purchasing additional NICs for my HV/FS servers, which should allow me to run multichannel SMB on my storage network. Once this is configured I am going to try and run the 'get-smbmultichannelconstraint' cmdlet to force SMB
over my teamed Storage network. This is the only thing I can think of trying.

  • Transferring of Storage Bins & Stock in newly Implemented Warehouse

    Dear all,
I want to Transfer Storage Bins & Stock in newly Implemented Warehouse.
Here IM is already there i.e there is stock in a IM.
    So please suggest.
    Regards,
    Rock

    Hi,
Since you already have stock at IM level follow these steps:
    1. Create a dummy SLOC or use existing empty SLOC.
    2. Move stock to this SLOC using mvnt type 311
    3. Activate WM for current storage location,Deactivate TR creation for 311 mvt type in WM, uncheck negative stock for intrem storage type (922 or 921)
    4. Move stock back to WHS and create TOs using mvnt type 999 and transfer stock to respective storage bins. Since the storage bins are huge in number use LSMW tool to upload. Refer below link for better clarity. If the stock is in interim storage type transfer the stock to destination bins with 999 movement type. Thanking you.

  • Importing a pkg with rely on server storage and roles for access control

Hi we run std 2008 r2.  I'm reading documentation on prot levels during pkg import to catalog at
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms141747(v=sql.105).aspx but unfortunately the definition of prot level "rely on server storage and roles for access control"
isn't clear.  They used the prot level name to define it which didn't help me.
This option looks appealing but it isn't clear why I need to enter a pswd when choosing this option.  Will my peers need to know that pswd when they export?  Will the sql agent job need to present that pswd when running?  If I just keep current
prot level "encrypt with user" will the agent job be able to run it?  I'm sure it (agent) isn't running with my creds now.  Also, how can I tell what prot level it was deployed with last?  I rt clicked on the pkg in the catalog
and don't see anything obvious about that.  I already understand that on export prot level is changed to encrypt with user.
I'm going to look at the sql agen job right now to see what creds it runs with.

First thing to understand is that protection level is used for determining how package (dtsx) file have to be protected. Once package is deployed in server and executed from agent, the conventional way is to use method of configurations or parameters if
2012 to get required connection etc values and execute using it. It never uses the values that were set during the design time. So it doesnt matter what protection level was so far as its based on config
However if you're planning to export existing package to your system and do modification thats where protection level comes to play. If its set to any of ENcryptSensitive... type value then you'll to provide the value (either a passowrd or your userkey which
it takes automatically from login info) to see the sensitive info (connection info, passwords etc) The package will still open and so far as you manually type in missing values you will be able to execute the package. If protection level is set to one of ENcrptAll
then you will have no way to open package itself unless you provide password/ have correct userkey.
The rely on server storage option uses sql server security context itself ie it doesnt do any encryption within package by itself but will assume values based on sqlserver security. This is used when you store package itself in SQLServer itself (MSDB)

  • Oracle VM and storage network

I am running Oracle VM 3.1.1 on a server with 4 ethernet interfaces.
bond0 is setup with eth0 and eth1 and bond mode is active/backup. This bond is used by the managed network.
bond1 is setup with eth2 and eth3 and bond mode is dynamic link aggregation. This bond is used by public network.
Managed network channels: Server Management, Cluster Meartbeat and Live Migration
Public network channels: Storage and Virtual Machine
All my 7 virtual machines are installed on separte physical disk using iSCSI.
95% of my network traffic on dom0 is going though eth0, so I belive that iSCSI is not using the public network.
How can I make my VM use bond1 / public network for iSCSI traffic?
The managed nework did have storage assigned when I created the storage connection, but I have rebooted dom0 after applying the settings above. Can this be the problem?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Thomas

It matters if the traffic is routed or not. "Routing" traffic and "switching" traffic are two different things and the "bandiwidth" rating on "routing" traffic versus "switching" traffic are considerably lower. More takes place when a "packet" is routed than when it just uses layer 2 traffic. This must be taken in consideration when planning traffic between your VM servers and its respective "storage, VMs and etc. Personally, I would never have that traffic "routed". Never. Do it if you like. I wouldn't recommend it. Any time your "hop" to a target... you introduce latency. Maybe your network fabric can handle it now... But what will happen when you start adding to your environment?
Remember the maximumn throughput on a 1 GB connection is 125mbs. Even creating a 2 member bond just gives you 250/mbs. Throw a "hop" in the mix....... I just don't like the numbers. Especially if you're going to run several VM guests on one server.
I feel your pain. Oracle VM can be a complicated product to use if you don't understand its full functionality. If you don't have your system in production.... then change it. Go through the headache now. Oracle VM works very well when it is setup properly. Very well. I just implemented a RAC environment running Oracle's ERP systems for several hundred users. It works great. Haven't had one problem since the migration. Performance is spectacular...

  • OVM 3: Storage network setup and MD3000i support

    Hi,
We have a OVM 2.2 cluster in test, and we are going to create a new OVM 3 cluster in the next 2 weeks to run JDE E9 (with a Dell R310 as manager and a Oracle X4170 M2 as main node (+ 2 Dell 2650 nodes that are currenlty running "plain" xen))
I'm going to use a Dell MD3000i as storage, which I don't understand if it's supported or no: for multipath it should use Dell's DRAC mpp drivers and not the standard multipath implementation. This is supported by OVM 2.2 -> DOC ID 960899.1 but there's no information on OVM 3. I've also open the SR 3-4488292901 but they said that it's not certified (of course). Has anyone tried it?
From the user guide I can't understand if the manager should be able to reach the iSCSI network: from my understanding it shouldn't, but how is it going to discover the disks?
    thanks

Oracle VM 3.0 should include the same Dell RDAC drivers as OVM 2.2, from my understanding. You may have to configure multipath.conf manually though.

  • Compliance and Storage Network Isolation

I have two tenants in a multitenant environment that access the same iSCSI array.  The iSCSI array has a limitation in that can only use one IP address on one vLAN.  the result of this is that using this array means sharing a vLAN between two tenants, even though it is a non-routed vLAN dedicated to iSCSI.  (ESXi vmkernel adapters from HA clusters in both tenants connect to the same iSCSI array).  Tenant A has no special compliance requirements, but Tenant B does.   The LUNs in the storage array are mapped only to the appropriate IPs for the appropriate ESXi servers in the respective environments to access. But will sharing this vLAN among iSCSI vmkernel ports in both tenants mean that Tenant B will be non-compliant with respect to a standard such as HIPAA?  The vmkernel ports would be in the same broadcast domain.

It matters if the traffic is routed or not. "Routing" traffic and "switching" traffic are two different things and the "bandiwidth" rating on "routing" traffic versus "switching" traffic are considerably lower. • Authorization Role Practice in Implementation Project

    Gurus,
Okay, I've been implementing SAP R/3 for around 5 implementation cycles, before realizing my method for creating role may be outdated. I need your advice regarding this.
Here's my common scenario on every implementation project in realization phase:
    1) Functional Consultants hand over their authorization matrix to me
The matrix will be the role name to created, along with its transaction code and authorization object.
There's also user assignment to each role.
    2) I created the role in PFCG.
Reference, single, composite role. Anything you can build in it.
    3) Map the SAP user to appropriate role
    Now here's the interesting part.
Users will then be given their own SAP User on UAT phase.
When they try to do transactions, almost every time, every one of them'll stumble upon "No authorization" error.
What I do is, check their SU53 object, add corresponding object, then let them test again whether it fixes the error.
The authorization matrix given by consultants will not have every needed auth. objects.
It can't be helped. You can't also just put the Full Authorization (*) to object you don't familiar with.
How do you usually do this?
    Any helpful tools?
    Thanks for help.
    Regards,

    Hi,
Generally role matrxi should contains every info what eve they needed to create the Role for the functional folks.
in you case there is some missing things that is interrupting you so better you can focus on Standard SAP roles and study that roles properly before you creating any Customizatio roles.
so that you will get an idea what are all the objects you have to use to create MM roles and also what are all the objects you have to use to create SD roles etc etc....
so please try to read the Standard role first before creating the custmoiztion roles.

  • [BPM Dynamic Parametric Role] How to Implement DPR?

    Hi Guys,
Here again, can someone provide me a link for sample codes on implementing Dynamic Parametric Roles?
    Thanks!

    Hi Dan,
Yup I'm talking about Parametric roles in oracle BPM. I need to find a way where in the system can generate parameters without any human intervention. This needs to be done by an external application. So basically what I need is a sample implementation of how it is done in BPM.

  • Standard authorization role for CRM implementation team member

    Hello,
We are starting SAP CRM implementation project (7.0) and I would like to avoid giving sap_all authorizations to functional consultants in development environment. Unfortunetly I can't find standard customizer profiles like the ones in ERP system exists.
So the objective is to have quite broad role or profile with no restrictions in customization and functional area. However it's important not to have Basis authorizations in this role/profile. Hope that someone can give me a hint in this direction.
    Thnak you,
    Jahoo

    Hi,
as soon as the implementation team member should also do developments my experience is that without SAP_ALL you will have much trouble. Therefore in our dev-system each consultant will have SAP_ALL authorization. Of course only in the DEV-System.
    Kind regards
    Manfred

  • Searching for an app to access companies storage network while mobile

My companies IT department is looking for an app to access our share drive.
But the data in our I drive is physically stored on a SAN (storage area network) array, goes through iSCSI Interface to a server, the server shares it out to Enterprise users, and controls the security with Windows account credential.  Most importantly is that everything in the corp. network is protected under a business class firewall, we published out websites and OWA (Outlook Web Access) service to the Internet, but we do not publish our share drive to the Internet, because it is very dangerous.
are there any solutions to access these files while mobile rather than just through a desktop?

  • General question about storage, networking, and using large amounts of data

I have been using a powermac tower G5 up until now. I bought my daughter a macbook pro 15" i7, talk about a zippy little machine. What a screamer. I can't believe how fast it is with final cut express, Aperture, and Photoshop. I tend to use higher end stuff, video, photos, etc. Hence I need not only a good fast processor, but the storage....need lots of hard disk space.
oh, did I mention I bought this for my daughter who's about to go off to college? Heh, when I'm home, she loses the machine to me.... *evil grin*
Anyways, I haven't considered using a laptop before for me personally as I just don't care for the small screen size, no mouse, and things like that.
Seems I've changed my opinion, esp seeing as the new mouse track pad is a game changer. I still am not crazy about the small screen size, but I can get over it.
The one thing I can't get around is the small disk storage. I have 4 TB on my big machine. Between my video, photography, and music, I am nearing a full TB of just raw stuff. If I count all the things I've stored, especially finished videos I make of photography projects, well you can image the chomping that occurs on disk storage.
So what is a man to do about storage?
I'm really getting hooked on this zippy little machine. The idea of dragging it around is compelling. Having my work not tied to a desk is fun.
but the lack of storage is sucky, terribly so.
I have one possible option, taking the G5 and making it a server. I can use it for backup and high speed transfer, working on the transfer part today.
I thought I'd poll the collective wisdom of the community and see what do you peeps think is the best overall way to handle such a situation?
What is the absolute fastest best way to use external drives? Firewire 800 is ok, but when working with 400gb aperture database files....
I'm hoping there is some way to start posturing myself to really use a laptop for my full computing experience.
Or am I trying to make a small portable machine act like a tower? Is this not a reasonable hope at this point in time?
I'm open to suggestions. I'm going to purchase something when my daughter takes this laptop with her to college. Either a new mac pro tower or laptop. I love the portability but need speed and massive storage.
    Thanks for opining.

    Storage:
    1. Replace the drive with a larger one. Up to 1 TB is now available for notebook drives.
    2. Get a portable external drive for additional storage needs. See the options at OWC as an example.
    Drive speed:
    1. FW 800 should be fast enough for your work. If the computer has an ExpressCard slot then consider a card supporting full speed eSATA. You may then achieve speeds closer to the internal bus.
A laptop is not a tower so stop thinking of or comparing to your tower. Besides the laptop's speed compared to your G5 is more like comparing a Ford Focus to a Ferrari F150.
As for "polling" opinions here: polling is forbidden by the forums' Terms of Use.
