Storage place + Volume probl

I've recently bought an 8gb mp3 creative zen microphoto and I'm puzzled byt two things. Firstly the volume seems to be a bit low (it only gets loud enought at full blast gauge0-25). I've heard there are volume restrictions in Europe (I bought mine in the UK). My firmware version is .20.0e (does the e stand for europe?). If so, is there a way of getting the volume higher (by maybe download a different firmaware version?)
Secondly, my player only has 7,6 gb as opposed to 8 gb of storage space as advertised. Is this normal? (I've formatted the player but there's still only 7,6 gb of storage place).
Any help yould be greatly appreciated. Cheers

Volume encrypt and erase failed; unable to delete core storage logical volume

I was attempting to slowly migrate [MI-***] from early 2013 MBPRO to New iMac 5K w/Ceiling Level components.
Kept going through LONG process and then told me it couldn't create [MBPRO HD Home Username] "Jim" on volume or whatever. NO FileVault enabling/ still skittish from White iMac Encrypting Nightmare days... I don't even know -- I guess it's encrypted on Airport, but not on MBPRO.
Moved over Applications from outside User account fine; anything inside any User account NOT FINE.
Hooked up Thunderbolt cable between two macs and restarted MBPRO in T mode... displaying the lightning BOLT on screen that moves around to reduce Burn-in.
Was able to go onto desktop and use windows to drag n drop 190G of movies over to iMac... wondering how I was going to get all right settings over form FCP...
Bottom Line: I only have 16G left on MBPRO and need to MOVE video editing to be exclusive on 3T Fusion on Maxed out iMac 5K.

So, I grabbed my 2T Airport Extreme and Hooked up the Cat5 LAN port to Cat5 input on back of NEW iMac; Now my MBPRO doesn't have to be locked up for days, because i can use TimeMachine backup to restore or clone the two macs... i hope.
Went into recovery mode and selected sub-Macintosh HD and attempted to erase; Result time after time after time: "Volume Encrypt and Erase failed." Reason: "Unable to delete the Core Storage logical volume." It dismounts it and I have to restart computer to get it back on. Funny thing is I don't have to use R anymore... which by the way, Command+R appears to be same as just plain old R when restarting... why is that?
This has become a "since Christmas" runaround session for me and I am sick of it.
Please help. I would've called Apple Care [and I did last night while driving... just to get advice on direction. I'm usually a pretty savvy PowerUser but this is driving me crazy.] but have to get things done for a meeting tomorrow. Can work on it after hours if someone can advise today on this post.

I have taken some screenshots of the error I get and the state of my HDD in Disk Utility. I did have a weird thing happen after trying to repair using single user mode, where I reopened disk utility and the partitions were NOT greyed out and displayed the correct info concerning space available etc, although after verifying it then reverted back to greyed out with no info.

I first noticed a problem when it prompted my for the FileVault passphrase (which I had stored in my keychain) and entering the correct passphrase resulted in the typical "error" response (the sideways "bouncing" entry field) asking me for the passphrase again.
So I get a list of the corestorage to get the UUID of the encrypted volume:

I'll start from the begining.
I have a 1TB that was running Mavericks, which I decided to perform Firevault 2. Anyway my hard drive crashed and now I have Mavericks running on a different 250 gig hard drive and have been trying to decrypt my original 1tb harddrive through terminal.
So I originally did the "diskutil corestorage unlockVolume UUID -stdinpassphrase thing and it said that it could not mount it but I notice that it was converting. So after 6 hours the converting stopped and now it says that decyrption is no longer neccessary and that it needs to be reverted. So I am try to revert it with terminal and it tells me that it is unable to find mount point. So ive been trying to mount the disk and comes up with the above error -69774: Couldn't bring the new Core Storage Logical Volume online. So does anybody have any suggestions??

Is there no way to change this and not get the question every time? I will have to do it for every picture one at a time- what a pain. The older operating system did not do this.

Unable to delete the core storage logical volume

So I get the grey loading bar on the apple logo screen on bootup that get's to the end and then my iMac turns off. This happens everytime. I went into disk utility (CMD-R) and tried to format the partition and get the error message: Unable to delete the core storage logical volume - I should also mention that the OS X partition is greyed out and is marked as having 0GB free (which is false) and I can't select that partition to do a fresh install of OS X on.
I should mention that on my HDD I have a OS X partition and a bootcamp partitiion and this is the second time I have this issue. How can I fix my OS X partition without having reinstall bootcamp as I have 1TB of stuff on it.
Any ideas?

Hi everybody,
I have just installed Yosemite on my iMac and everything works right.
iMac 27" late 2012
3,4 Ghz intel core i7
32 GB 1600 Mhz DDR3
3TB Fusion drive.
Now I need to create a bootable partition to install a copy of Mavericks because some FCPX plugins do not work on Yosemite.
To create a new partition I use Disc Utility, but each time I try to create it the mac show me this error:
partition failed A problem occurred while resizing Core Storage physical volume structures
Why?
What can I do?
P.S. FCPX does not work on a virtual machine, so I have to install it on a new partition

Same problem - I have a Apple_Corestorage partition that can't be unlocked.
You have to do this command to free up the Corestorage partition
diskutil coreStorage delete logicalGroupUUID
In your case, it'll be:
diskutil coreStorage delete E2CDC5FC-DA6E-4F43-B524-8925ABB23883

USB External drive has become a storage place in windows 8.1

I let windows make my Toshiba USB drive become a storage place. Now it's as two different drives, one is called TOSHIBA USB (F:) and one is a storage place, I made it a storage place and now it's full and I tried to remove it from storage, and that's when
it became a TOSHIBA USB drive again, but, it's located in storage as two different drives and it's also in removable drives list as a Toshiba drive. How do I get it out of being a storage place, it's still got files on it that I don't want to loose I was using
it as a backup drive and I made it a storage drive. How do I get them both out of storage drive and back where it goes without loosing my files that are on it. I've got a 1TB Seagate external USB drive that is formatted and I may make it a storage drive and
use it for file history and some back up. Should I do that or should I just let it be a USB drive and use it for file history? Either way how do I remove or detach my Toshiba drive from storage? Please help I've tried everything I know. Thanks, Brad.

Hello and Thanks MeipoXu, Well it's to late! I got frustrated after searching windows and microsoft websites and forums, so, I chatted with a damg geek squad "agent" and he talked me into doing what I knew I could do four hours before I got them
and had him do a remote assistance. Well to make a long story short we faut for a while and he led me to believe there was no other way except to reformat the drive and loose all of my files! I got ahold of them thinking they would have a solutiion to the
problem not reformat and loose everything! I'm very upset with the geek idiots and I've left terrible feedback as I do every time I talk with those idiots. All may not be lost though, I also have a WD MyCloud 3TB network drive and I'm hoping and praying that
most if not all of my files are on it. I sure wish I'd have waited till I got an answer here before I contacted the geeks. I don't know anything about powershell at all, but, lately I've been trying to learn some of the commands and what you can do with it,

How can I configure ReFS to NOT fail read operations when a checksum error is detected (on non-Storage-Spaces volumes where data integrity streams are enabled)?

According to William Stanek, in his Windows Server 2012 R2 Inside Out: Configuration, Storage & Essentials book, this is apparently possible: (pg. 615 - here it is on Google Books: https://books.google.ca/books?id=0IyfBAAAQBAJ&pg=PT819&lpg=PT819&dq=read+operation )
Integrity can be enabled when the system is not running on Storage Spaces. When
integrity is enabled and ReFS detects a checksum mismatch, ReFS logs an event and
fails the read operation by default. If you don’t want the read operation to fail, you
can configure ReFS to continue with the read operation. A related event will be logged
regardless.
So then how do I configure it to do that???
(And just to make it super-clear, I'm NOT using Storage Spaces, so there is no redundancy via mirroring/parity, and I'm not expecting any file repair - just detection of corruption. It's just a basic volume formatted with ReFS and
with integrity streams enabled, via format E: /fs:ReFS /i:enabled
For those who want more details, here's the situation:
I try to perform a read operation on a file with corrupted data (purposely done for testing using a low-level disk editor), I get a the following error message:
And an event ID 133 from ReFSv1 gets logged in the System log:
Clicking "Try Again" just brings up the same message, and clicking "Skip" skips the operation entirely.
This is indeed the correct default behaviour.
What I want instead is for the read operation to be allowed to complete, with corrupt data and all, and ONLY for the event to be logged. And according to William Stanek, this is supposed to be configurable somewhere - and after hours of searching, I haven't
been able to find anything.

We can use PowerShell command Set-FileIntegrity to configure this. The specific parameter for controlling this behavior is
-Enforce <Boolean>which indicates whether to enable blocking access to a file if integrity streams do not match the data.

ZFS boot device - UFS external storage - Solaris volume manger

Hi All,
If a system is running ZFS boot can one use Solaris Volume Manager on external UFS storage devices? If so, where do you store the metadb?

Should work, even though you need to have a slice somewhere where you can store the metadb's.
Perhaps you can store them on the external storage? Unless they are frequently removed.

Storage Spaces - volume with deduplication always flagged as "online filesystem check needed"

I am using Storage Pools and we have quite some Volumes on them.
I am noticing an warning to do an online check of a Volume on 2 volumes where dedup is activated.
If I do the check, all is fine for about 10-30 minutes, and it's flagged again to be checked. It never sais it needs any repair.
The odd thing is, other volumes without DEDUP don't show this behaviour.
What could cause this error?
- Disk Space is enough available.
- Logs don't tell a lot. We have quite some entries with low disc space, but as there are volumes with DPM on this machine, it's referencing DPM Volumes with low disc space warnings. (Info - no DEDUP activated on DPM Volumes as it's not supported).
So basically why are deduped volumes (successful deduped with over 40 %), always in a state that needs a check?

In upgrading the storage pool from 2012 to 2012 R2 (new installation).
It looks good
Try a variety of methods, the last one is garbage collection.
I looked inside tips Best Practices Analyzer does not clean up the garbage, so try.

Hi all
I just got a pair of Sennheiser CX 680i. They are iPhone compatible but I didn't know that they only partially work with my Lumia 920.
The play/pause, skip forward and backward are working fine. But the mic and volume don't. I read that it's because apple products don't uses the AHJ standard.
I would really like to be able to use the mic and vol control. Is it possible to buy some kind og adapter? Or are there any other solutions to the problem?

Place Volume in the task bar

When i add "volum icon" in task bar througn "control panel", "sound and audio divice properties" it gives following massage
"Windows cannot display the volume control on the taskbar because the volume control program has not been istalled.To onstall it,use add / remove programs in control panel"
But driver was installed sound are working properly
but i canot add the Volume icon in task bar so controlling the volum was very difficult and canot aproach th sound properties also.
My system was "Compaq Presario C712TU Notebook PC"

I found it at http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/newsgroups It was a posting by "cbno" But you might not be able to find that, so here was the solution. Go to http://home.comast.net/~nepatsfan2005/sndvol32.exe You will be asked if you want to save this file. Save the file to C:\WINDOWS\System32 Then you can go to the Control Panel, double-click on Sounds and Audio Devices, and add the icon to the Taskbar. Hope this works!
