Storage type of Content Repositories in OAC0

Hi,
Can someone explain to me what is :
- Structure storage system, and
- Logical Repository
and how they are used in the Storage Type of Content Repositories in tcode OAC0?
I was not able to find any related description / explanation in saphelp.
I have a "file and print" server (not running sap or http content server or knowledge server) where users store pdf documents and now need an sap link to these pdf files.
How should I go about setting this linkage?
Thanks

  • Assign/Re-Assign Content repository to Storage type

    Hello all,
Via transaction OAC0 I can see and manage all (standard and self-created) Content repositories.
When I select the menu item “documents” in the menu bar “Goto” within the Administrator Workbench and switch to “Administration” and afterwards to the tab strip “Content Storage” I want to assign a self created content repository to an storage type, but in the screen there is no edit or change button.
How can I assign/reassign a content repository to an storage type?
    Any helps would be great.
    Best Regards from Munich/Germany
    Stefan Leontiadis

    Dear Kumar
Go to VA02, input the sale order reference and execute.  There double click on the line item and select the tab "Account Assignment".   There you can see the field "Profit Center".
As I said in your other thread, if you have generated subsequent documents like delivery or billing, you cannot change this for that line item.  You have to close this line item by assigning "Reason for Rejection",  and create a new line item but then, b4 doing this, you should have changed the profit center in material master.
Alternatively, if you want to update in bulk, go to T.Code MASS, input "BUS2032"  in Object Type and execute.  There select "Sales Order Item Data" and click on "Fields".
Select the field name "MASSVBAP-PRCTR" and execute.  Either you can input the sale order references for which you would like to change or just execute.
Now you will have a screen "New Values" on top and below the existing sale orders listed.  Give the new profit center against the field "New Values" and execute.

  • Problem in OAC0 ( create content repositories)

    Hi Friends,
I am trying to execute a senario of linking DMS with OPEN TEXT (Content Management)
We have completely installed "Open Text Archiving and Document Access for SAP Solutions" in SAP.
I am encountering with a problem, when I'm trying to create a new repository with document area "ARCHLINK" with transaction OAC0.  The value "ARCHLINK" is not getting selected. It is automatically disappearing.
And also by default the Storage Type has value 04 HTTP content server which is again not changeable.
Please help me in this matter to solve the problem. Your timely help will be highly appreciated.

  • Content Repositories OAC0 - Transport

    Hi
We have separate dev and production Content Servers..
What is the practice followed in creating content repositories in Production server??
Is it transported from dev ?. Or do we have to create it freshly in the production server??
If i try to transport from development, the storage categories are not assignment to the content repository.
ie, Inside the storage category, the content repository name is shown blank after the transport.. though we can see the content repo name in OAC0
So in production server do we have to manually create these instead of transporting from dev server??
    Please guide
    Regards
    Aby

    Hi there,
we did this quite recently, and we did end up setting up the content repository in prod as we didn't have one in dev. It is necessary to open up the client for customising, then you can do it via the transaction or CSADMIN.
I think it was also necessary to set up the required certificate, no expert in that though, basis did this. Then assign the storage cat as you mention

  • DMS Document Storage in External Content Server

    Dear All,
We are working on a DMS scenario, where we need to store the document in an external content server, and not in SAP DB. We are evaluating the solutions around the content server, and we see that SAP provides a HTTP Interface to SAP Content Server, and this interface can be configured through OAC0 and OACT, and managed through CSADMIN. Now, a set of questions:
    1. If we intend to use SAP Content Server, do we need to purchase additional license for it? Our understanding is that the software is delivered with SAP Installation DVD, and as such no licensing charges are required.
    2. If we DO NOT intend to use SAP Content Server, and rather use an external content server (Possibly utilizing the File System at the OS level as a repository), how will the configuration of OAC0 and OACT look like in such a case? We definitely can not use HTTP Content Server as storage type, How will the entries be organized in this case?
Has anyone worked on a scenario like this? It will be really nice if you can share your experience and expertise in this regard.
    Awaiting replies.
    Thanks and Sincere Regards,
    Sid

    Hi Ravindra,
Thanks for the clarification. Do I understand correctly that, for a external content server (without an installation of SAP Content Server) also, we need to specify the storage type as HTTP Content Server ? But in such a case, how will the work processes be handled? As I understand, SAP Content Server engine will handle the incoming/outgoing requests through a Web Server. So, don't we need a similar arrangement for an external content server also? In that case, will the connection parameters be for a HTTP Content Server or for RFC Archive, where we can specify a RFC Destination of type G and connect through it?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Sid

  • Homogeneous System Copy - Export Import of RFC's, ALE, Content Repositories

    Good Morning,
I have a landscape with a Development and Production Systems with SAP R3 Enterprise 4.70 Ext 110, MaxDB 7.5, HP-UX 11.23. A Homogeneous System Copy is going to be done from Production to Development.
I have a idea to be able to recover the RFC's, ALE and Content Repositories Information after the Copy, which is to create a transport order with the structures which contain data for the RFC's definition, the ALE configurations and definitions and the Content Repositories configurations and definitions in Development and after the copy, transport the orders back to Development. The problem is that i don't know which structures should i use, and if my idea is viable?
For example, if i go to transaction oac0 and look at the content repositories and if i look at the Technical Information, i can see that the fileds with data are from Structure SCMS_SCREP, but my question is, inserting thsi structure in a transport order to import after the copy willbe enough? Aren't there more structures i need to insert in a transport order? And for RFCs and ALE?
Can anyone help me on this matter please?
    Kind Regards,
    Pedro Gaspar

    Hi,
If the target system is being refreshed then first secure any information that you may require.
    1) Backup user master and authorization data from each client where this data needs to be retained.
Use transaction SCC8 to export this data.  Select profile SAP_USER and specify target system = TARGET_SID.
    2) Backup RFC tables to restore destinations afterwards.
the only below tables required to take backup.
Call SE01 and create a new request of type = ""Transport of Copies"" with description = ""Export RFC destination tables prior to system refresh"".Make sure to specify a Target for the request or no data file will be created.
    RFCATTRIB
    RFCCHECK
    RFCDES
    RFCDESSECU
    RFCDOC
    3) ALE / Partner profiles.
Call WE20 and select each partner profile.
Follow menu path ""Partners --> Check"" and obtain a list of tables used.
The only tables listed were the ones listed below.
These tables are client-dependant therefore you will have to logon to each client and call SE01 and create a new request of type = ""Transport of Copies"
      EDPP1
      EDP13
      EDP21
Also document the WE21 --> Ports --> Transactional RFC" section.
Run transaction BD64 and document each configured distribution model.  This information is client-dependent so make sure to record values for each required client. and also record RFC destinations for synchronous method calls in BD97.
I hope it will help you.

    Kiran .V

  • WM Replenishment for storage type

    Hi there,
I implemented the replenishment solution for a fixed bin and is working well.
But our bussiness needs to use the replenishment for several bins located on one storage type. In other words, we need a replenishmente not for a fixed bin.
I tried to find out the way but all the doucumentation that I got is useing the replenishment solution only for fixed bin.
Somebody could let me know if there is a solution for that or SAP can not manage it in other way?.
    Best regards.
    Claudio

You can try with Random Bin Management in the repleneishment process. We have implemented this solution. It worked fine with us.

  • HL Physical Inventory: Control data for storage type  is missing

    Dear experts,
When performing an ad-hoc HL inventory in EWM, I'm facing following issue after I try to save the countet inventory document:
This is how my storage type where the inventory will be performed looks like:
What could be a reason for such a behaviour?
    Thank you in advance
    BR
    Denis

Hi Denis, you need to have the parent object in the counted item list. That means it is necessary to count the HU with parent object as Storage Bin and then you can count HU content with the parent object as HU.
When I deleted the parent object I was able to simulate your error:

  • 2 content repositories DMS

    Hello gurus
I have a content repository "X" that is used currently. In this repository are stored  generated files in document type "ABC" and "DEF".
Now I need another content repository for document type "XYZ" and "JKL".
Configurations in transaction code OACO e OACT are done.
I need z-development to identify where my originals will be stored. Must I use badi DOCUMENT_STORAGE01 method BEFORE_CHECKIN?
    Can you help me?
    Someone made this?
    Regards

    Hi Raj
Thank you very much for your help.
Yes. I have different document types that now must be stored in two content repositories.
Can you explain (possible with image) what steps I need for this configuration?
In following case, what procedure must be used?
Doc type "ABC" and "DEF" must use content repository "X" for anyone user.
Doc type "XYZ" and "JKL" must use content repository "Y" for anyone user.

  • Integration content repositories

We have various content repositories including
    Lotus Notes/Domino
    Documentum
    and MS Sharepoint
how can we integrate the repositories and provide our users visibility across all of them at ease?
has anyone used livelink for that? -- they advertise http://www.opentext.com/events/event.asp?ID=35063 that this product can integrate disparate systems but wanted to get some thoughts on this.
    thanks,
    Joe

    Hi Joe,
I think you posted your question at wrong place. This is for Forte 4GL / UDS (Unified development server).
I am using Livelink, we are using Livelink for document management, virtual team collaboration, information retrieval and also for storage, sharing and management of critical information and processes for organizations, teams and individuals all from a single point of access.
and regarding repository integration, I believe it has to be done has to be customized by programmer (data tire).

  • Storage types

    Hi All
    The user requirement is
    M-MATERIAL
If the material is received through AIR(aeroplane) it has to follow one storage type search strategy and if the procuremnt is through road transportation  it has to follow another strategy.
For eg: Through Air-storage types -ch1,ch2,ch3
                 Through road-ch3,ch2,ch1
How to configure this in the storage type search table cfor the same material.
    Regards
    tcr

when you receive materials with MIGO, you do not enter anything in MIGO to let SAP know whether it was received from plane or truck. This info is probably only in your purchase order.
Even further, this MIGO receipt creates inventory in storage type 902 along with a transport request. And when you convert this TR into a TO, then the putaway strategy comes into the game.
Means you are 2 steps beyond the the element that has the information that the material should come by plane or truck.
The quant in 902 storage type does not know anything about how it came, nor the transport request.
In customizing of putaway strategy you can see the fields that can be used to differentiate the storage type search
as well as in this docu: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_insu464/helpdata/EN/2e/1939516e36d1118b3f0060b03ca329/content.htm
So, the only option you have is probably a user exit, where you read the PO again to get knowledge about the shipping mode, and to decide then which strategy you want use.

  • Difference between Storage Unit type and storage type

    Hi,
I am confused with storage unit type and storage type.
Can anyone help me with real case examples.
I would like to know about Storage unit types and their uses in WM.

    Hello!
Storage type is a storage area and Storage Unit Type is strategies are used in the warehouse process for creating transfer orders.
A storage type is a storage area, warehouse facility, or a warehouse zone that you define in Warehouse Management (WM) for a warehouse number. This is a physical or logical subdivision of a warehouse complex that is characterized by its warehouse technique, the space used, its organizational form, or its function.  A storage type generally contains several storage spaces or slots. These are called storage bins in Warehouse Management (WM).

    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_470/helpdata/en/c6/f838f94afa11d182b90000e829fbfe/content.htm
Storage Unit Type is putaway strategy, the system processes different storage unit types (for example, pallets) and allocates them to the appropriate section. Often, one storage bin is divided into several smaller sections. Typically, only the same storage unit types can be placed into a storage bin at one time.
