Storage unresponsive in VDI Manager

Dear all,
i am trying hard to solve this issue.
In VDI Manager, storage is going unresponsive with critical alert in the top corner.There is no fixed time when it goes to unresponsive. and it comes back to normal after few minutes say after 5 minutes, it may go to upto 20 minutes. i am using VDI 3.2.2 with storage 7310 iscsi storage. is there any know issue with VDI.
i am using six servers. out of six three are virtualbox and VDI servers and other three are virtual box server.
Mostly this error come while clonning. although not necessay if there is no job running, still this error come.
it is giving hard time.

if you are getting error in VDI Manager for this unresponsiveness. then follow below.(VDI use ssh to connect to the storage)
/opt/SUNWvda/sbin/vda settings-getprops -p storage.max.commands
check the value above and
- you can try to set the minimun value
/opt/SUNWvda/sbin/vda settings-setprops -p storage.max.commands=3
if you are still getting error and then you can check value 3,2,1.

I always do my Rentals with the itunes program on the computer.
Make rental from itunes store. It will show in movies under library, DO NOT click to play it. Plug in the device to the computer. Click the name of the device on left. Click on movies. There is an option to copy to the device. Sync. obviously you still need space on ipad to put rental but you can have it take computers hard drive space until you need it.

I can't manage file and storage services in server manager.

I have a windows 2012 R2 server. I had turned on the file and storage services role and was able to configure a single share in server manager. A few days later I wanted to create another share but when I select file and storage services within server manager
I get the message at the top that says The server has not been queried for data since it appeared offline. Also there are no shares listed. Even though the shared folder that I already created is available from other computers.
If I try to create a file share anyway I am asked to choose a server to create the share on and the server appears in the list with a status of offline.
Now this may seem like an obvious connection issue however, I am trying to configure the server locally, not over the network. I can manage other services in server manager just fine. I have WDS and WSUS roles installed and can be configured with server
manager just fine. I only have a problem with file and storage services.
There are no errors in the event log.
I tried to remove the file and storage services role from the server but as soon as I uncheck the box for file and storage services I get a pop up windows that says:
The validation process found problems on the server from which you want to remove features. The selected features cannot be removed from the selected server. click ok to select different featres.
I lists validation results that simply state the name of the server and says "storage services cannot be removed."
How can I get file and storage services working again?

Hi,
How many servers are there in the list? If the offline serve is a remote server, please reboot the remote server to see the result. In the meantime, please new a shared folded on the local server in Windows Explorer to see if the issue still exists.

Storage documentation in Solution Manager

Hello everyone!
I have some difficulties with methods of storage documentation in Solution Manager.
I know that we can hold docs these ways:
1. Documentation which are assigned with roadmaps. These docs are connected with different phases of implementation or other projects.
2. Documentation which are assigned with business-processes in transaction SOLAR01- Business blueprint. I like this way, but the problem is that we should describe all process for which we want to hold docs.
Is there any possibility for storage like some kind of place where we can store docs and can easily find this documentation with help of key words for example...
If anybody know any other way I will be very appreciate...

Yes it is possible to report on and search for documentation by keyword. You will still need to maintain a structure in the Blueprint Transaction in order to take advantage of the functionality. Here are the steps.
1.) Maintain Keywords
In the Project Administration Transaction (SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN) you would select the Project Standards tab and the Keywords subtab. When you press the Project Template button on the bottom of the screen you can maintain your desired keywords and then use the black arrows to move them in or out of the Project Keywords "queue". After saving, you would use the black arrows again to move the newly created keyword into the Project Keywords queue (again). Flag the Documents radio button and Save.
2.) Assign Keywords to Documents Loaded against nodes in the Business Process Structure
In the structure that you created in SOLAR01, highlight the node to which the document is loaded against and choose either the General or Project Documentation Tab on the right hand side of the screen (depending on which tab you loaded the document to).
Highlight the document and click the Attribute button
In the Keywords box select from the drop down one or several Key Words that you maintained in step 1.
Save.
3.) Find documentation with help of key words
From the menu bar select Environment --> Project Analysis --> Assignments --> Documentation.
In the Document Keywords box, select 1 or more Keywords to search on.
Execute.
When your search results appear you can double click on the Document to be taken to where the document is loaded in the structure.

Desktop status doesnot change in VDI Manager.

hi,
i have clonned machines in a pool. once user logon to the desktop , the desktop status shows 'Used' status and if the user left the session open i.e desktop open, the desktop doesnot change its state from 'Used' to 'idle'. it must change right.
Even if user clicks disconnect or logoff. the status of desktop in VDI Manager still shows 'Used'.
Any idea? Can VDI handle this? is there any setting i am missing

If it's a multi value attribute, then you need to reference the documentation for adding a new value like this. It will involve a new child table and configuration lookup updates. Then you'll also need to create the process tasks for insert and delete into the child table. Once you have the functionality working for simply adding and remove values from the child table performing the correct updates, now here is where you start:
You will still need to create a task that gets triggered. Assuming it's still disable, you can have the same Disable trigger to initiate the task. Now, you need to create an adapter that will read and update/modify your existing child table entries. If you need to delete entries, you will want to use the API to remove a child table entry, or update or insert, depending on your requirements. Then whatever action you perform on the child table using your adapter, the existing functionality will perform the rest.

Try search the WEB for your display adapter drivers. However, most of new especially intergated graphics are still not supported.
You may try to get it working with xsun, run kdmconfig and specify as display adapter VGA or Super VGA. I know that in some cases it helps.
As well do the same with Xorg and run /usr/X11/bin/xorgcfg, try to find somekind of generic VGA in drivers that are listed there.
As I know, smc runs only in graphical mode.
I saved the settings and pressed F2 for testing. I could see the displayDid you see buttons on that display (something like "yes", "no")?
xsun is very hard to set with most of display adapters and monitors, sometimes it shows only part of the screen, so you might not to see these buttons. However if you see them, press "yes" (or something like that, I dont exactly remember). Then reboot and your computer should start the GUI.

Can we handle physical data storage through SAP Record Management System

Dear Experts,
how can we use Record Management system for handling the process involved in physical storage
of records ( like files, documents, boxes, x-rays etc) their retrievals, destruction etc.
Same as that how to handle space management, allocate space to store physical storage, retrieve the available spaces etc.

IO issues on Red Hat Linux SAN storage and veritas volume manager

Oracle 11.0.1.7:
We recently moved from Solaris Sparc box to linux box and since then we are seeing IO issues. And it's quite obvious in iostat that the io goes as high as 100ms. So I am wondering if someone can advice if there are any mount options we need to give or if we need to use vxodmfs file system. Below are the details of this environment:
1. It's using veritas volume manager. (Same as solaris)
2. It's using vxfs file system (Same as solaris)
3. It's using veritas ODM libraries that helps us in IO. (Same as solaris)
4. SAN EMC storage (Same as solaris)
5. Mount options /dev/vx/dsk/orapdata1dg/oradata1vol1 on /u01/oradata type vxfs (rw,delaylog,largefiles,ioerror=mwdisable)

I don't know whether i understood your question well. But i will answer in the way i understood.
To serve your requirement you need to have a Warehouse management, means to have a smooth warehouse bin wise storage.
But some companies are not willing to implement WM and they are finding a way with batch classification. They maintain batches for material and storage bin are maintain in a batch classification. So you can view it in MMBE also by going into the batch classification of the relevant batch.
And if you want to have a detail report you can develop a simple report or a query to retrieve batch classification data.
For batch classification activation:
1. Material must maintain "Batch management" tick in Purchasing and storage plant data views
2. Create a seperate class for this using CL02
3 Create batch characteristic using CT04 (this is to maintain Storage Bin)
4. Add classification view to each material and the relevant batch class.
5. When you are doing the GR use "Batch" tab and "Classification" button to maintain relevant Storage bin data. (To update mass scale you can create a "Z" report getting help of a developer in your company)
6. Now each batch you are maintained your storage bin view it trough MMBE (But only one batch classification) or in-house developed report ("Z") program

Third party storage adding to VDI host

dear all,
Currently I'm doing evaluation test of Third party storage(Dot hill iSCSI) for Oracle VDI.
during test I have encounted some error for adding storage phase.
after mount LUN of Dot hill storage,
when i try to add storage to VDI host , error is occured with this message.
Error executing command 'iscsiadm -m node -T iqn.1995-03.com.dothill:01.2331.00c0ff138e31 -p 10.0.0.11:3260 -l' on host '192.168.0.111': iscsiadm: No records found
I just wonder something is wrong or this Dot hill storage doesn't have compatibility with Oracle VDI.
Any comment will be appreciated!

Are you trying to do this on a Linux or Solaris host? Generic iSCSI storage is only supported with Linux but not on Solaris.

Selecting Storage Type in Enterprise Manager

I've recently added a new enclosure, which has it's own storage type (Due to the fact they are different disks then the rest of the array).
Using the "Storage Center Manager", when creating a new volume, I am asked to select one of my two different storage types.
But, when using the Enterprise Manager, I do not get such an option.
Is there a way to enable that option in the Enterprise Manager, so it can create volumes on both Storage Types ?

Viewing source code it seems that switching of Grid/List is controled by "?dsNav" statement which is included in Endeca Rapid Application Development (RAD) Toolkit for ASP.NET and called as NavigationDataSource.

However, viewing source code of these site does not clear all the way to implement this functinality, and it may be exist that other way to implement this is provide as some sample code outside endeca.
