StorageTek 3510 FC Array - Unknown password

Hi,
We have 2 StorageTek 3510 FC Arrays which are password protected (bought "used")
How do I set it back to factory defaults to clear the password?
Thanks
Paul

  • Invalid or unknown password

hello, i cannot access tzo because of an invalid or unknown password. I am using a wvc80n camera. I have the camera working fine at my store using the wireless here but i want to access it remotely.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The camera is working fine in the local network.
Open the Internet browser and in the address bar type the IP address of the camera. That will open the setup page of the camera. Click on setup tab and go to ' options '.
You will find ' Alternate Web Access Port '. Enable that option and in the Port number type 1024. Save/Apply the settings.
Now you need to open the port 1024 on your router for the IP address of your camera.
Check the Internet / WAN IP address on your router.
Let's consider the Internet IP address is A.B.C.D ( where A, B, C, D may be any number).
Open the Internet browser and in the address bar type http://A.B.C.D:1024 and you will see your camera on the Internet.
The Internet IP address on your router may change periodically ( depends on ISP)
To use TZO, make sure that your TZO account is setup properly.

  • RAC (Linux) Security: "Unknown" Passwords for CRS, ASM, Oracle?

We're going through an audit (PCI) and the question of these shared accounts has come up. I do realize that ssh connectivity, with key exchange, is used in the maintenance of Oracle RAC clusters. What I'm thinking/wondering is if it's possible to have an "unknown" password for one or all of these accounts. This would mean that a 'sudo su' would still be allowed to the account if needed, and ssh key exchange would still work, but it would tighten up the security a bit (and make writing compensating controls a lot easier).
I'm wondering if anyone can help identify areas where actually having the crs, asm and oracle passwords will be required in the care and feeding of RAC? Also, or alternately, if someone can point me to the documentation where it shows having the password is a prerequisite, that would make my life a lot easier.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

    Hi,
If I understand your requirement correctly, yes, I believe it's possible.
If you're doing RAC, you must have "user equivalence" (i.e. ssh via password-less key based authentication) set up on all nodes in the cluster. In addition, it's possible to disable password authentication, once you have key authentication set up. Finally, once you're logged in, you still need sudo to work, correct? If password will not be known to you, you can set up sudo to work without a password, (look at NOPASSWD option) but consider that, you really need to set things up correctly, or you may jeopardize your system security.
    Ideally, you would:
1.) set up ssh keys with passphrase.
    2.) disable password authentication.
3.) set up ssh-agent and authentication forwarding.
I'm not an expert at all, I've just recently been reading up to try to do something similar in my environment.
I found this three-part article that seems to cover the subject pretty thoroughly:

    Hope that helps,

  • Urgent: How to setup raid1+0 for SE 3510 FC array

    Hi,
I have some urgent questions: I want to set up raid 1+0 with only ONE LUN number for our SE 3510 FC array. After reading thru the 'raid firmware user's guide', I figured out that there possibly two methods to set it up:
    1) create one big raid1 logical drive with 12 physical disks and assign this logical drive a LUN number;
    2) create 6 raid1 logical drives with 2 disks mirrored each and create one logical volume on top of those 6 raid1 logical drives then assign logical volume a LUN number
    My questions are:
Are they right ways to create raid1+0? Are those 2 methods same? Which one is better? Or is there any other way to create raid1+0?
    Thanks,

  • Connecting 2 hosts to 3510 FC array

    Hello,
I have been trying to find out how to get this to work. I have a new 3510 FC array, from it I built a raid 5 MD of 408gb. I then softpartitioned this into 4 drives d1-d4. I need to be able to mount each of these drives to both boxes, and see the same data. Not at the same time, but as a fail over. I tried creating the MD's on both hosts, and I can mount d1 on both hosts but if I create a directory on host1, I can't see it on host2. Is there a way to get this setup?
    Thanks,
    Josh

OK so I have 1 server setup properly how I need it, I have setup the multipathing, the raid5 metadevice, and the other mirrors.
    What I have is this:
    d40 - 68GB mirrored device
    d90 - 68GB mirrored device
    d10 - 136GB raid5 device
Now that these are running on one server, if this server was to crash, is there a process that I can mount these on the other server. I was looking at metarecover and couldn't get it to work using
    metarecover c4t20000000879C7816d0s6
Could this be because I didn't create a softpartition? I just mounted the complete d10 to a directory?

  • Can I connect one 3510 FC Array To Another one?

    Excute me,I want to connect one 3510 FC Array To Another 3510 FC Array;
I mean that I want to use a 3510 FC Array as a expansion unit, will the 3510 support doing this?
Thanks for taking the time and any help is greatly appreciated.

An array is an array. It has its own systemboard and needs to be connected in certain ways.
An expansion unit is a "dumb" peripheral and requires an array upstream from it.
As mentioned in the first reply of this thread, go read the documentation. If it does describe multiple arrays in what you seem to describe as a serial chain of connectrions, then that would be an acceptable configuration. The docs may even mention any special that you must never do such a thing.
Go read the docs. I'm not going to read them for you.
You could always just go try to connect them all together.
I have no personal experience with those storage devices and I would only be making guesses.
I would also not be responsible for any unexpected damage you might do if they're not ever supposed to be connected in such a fasion.
As also mentioned in replies to your earlier forum posts om other topics:
Go contact Oracle support directly and get a proper answer.
    These forums are NOT techsupport.

  • StorEdge 3510 FC array Configuration

    Hello,
I'm running Solaris 8 on a Neta 20. I have 3 StorEdge 3510 FC arrays attached; one controller each array. Each has 12x146 drives for a total of 2TB each array. As this if my first time dealing with this array, I need some advise. I configured my first array with one logical drive and 4 partitions. maped the luns, and reset. (oh I changed the seq to ramdom)
I am now trying to configure the 2nd array, however it will only let me make a logical drive of 512GB max. I've tried everything I could think of to overcome this. Any ideas, I was talking to someone today and they mentioned that solaris will only reconize 1TB. Is this true? If so does anyone have any ideas on a better way to configure the arrays. They will be used for large oracle databases.
    Thanks
    [email protected]

I presume that by now you have sorted this problem, but in case not, 512Gb is the maximum logical drive size when the i/o optimisation is random.
On the max disk size, I read somewhere that VxFS might help.
I found your query when looking for help on directing StorEdge events to the syslogd on our central loghost - which I still haven't found out how to do!?

  • StorEdge 3510 disk array & SunMC

    Hi
I have a question regarding Sun StorEdge 3510 & SMC. I want to have notifications about hdd problems, cache or controller faults. I know that I can install StorADE and send messages to SMC. Is there any other way to have 3510 notifications in SMC withouht hiring StorADE?
    Regards
    Paul

    Hello,
You can use following way to monitores 3510 Raid array :
Install packages on the 3510 connected server
system SUNWsccli Sun StorEdge(tm) 3000 Family CLI
system SUNWscsa Sun StorEdge(tm) Diagnostic Reporter daemon
system SUNWscsd Sun StorEdge(tm) Configuration Service Agent
application SUNWscsu Sun StorEdge(tm) Configuration Service Console
system SUNWscui Sun StorEdge(tm) Diagnostic Reporter console
This provide ssconsole binary. Start it and assign your 3510 Raid ctrl to send alarms to one Solaris host.
Exact procedure (account creation, etc...) to do so should be present somewhere on docs.sun.com
Now, each time an event occurs on the 3510, a log will appears with SUNWscsd... blablabla into /var/adm/messages :
    /var/adm/messages.0:Jun 26 15:48:11 PNMSSS082 SUNWscsdMonitor[522]: [ID 163373 daemon.error] [SUNWscsd 0x030B2007:0x00FFFF00 Informational] <rctrl2041> Logical Drive 0(ID=6327904A, RAID 5), Rebuild Completed. Informational message. Replace defective drive with new drive. (Mon Jun 26 15:22:48 2006) {Unique ID#: 07e60a}
Use SMC agent log file scanning to monitor trap with this string "SUNWscsd"
    Hope this will help.
    Regards,
    Damien

  • Used mini mac - unknown password   log on - how to reset to base start

used mini mac- unknown log in + password - need to reset to base operation - tried the command-r - got to the utilities screen but the password/log in section would not allow "highlighting" to select.

The first thing you should do with a second-hand computer is to erase the internal drive and install a clean copy of OS X. How you do that depends on the model. Look it up on this page to see what version was originally installed.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.4 or 10.5, you need a boxed and shrink-wrapped retail Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) installation disc, which you can get from the Apple Store or a reputable reseller — not from eBay or anything of the kind. If the machine has less than 1 GB of memory, you'll need to add more in order to install 10.6. I suggest you install as much memory as it can take, according to the technical specifications.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.6, you need the installation media that came with it: gray installation discs, or a USB flash drive for some MacBook Air models. If you don't have the media, order replacements from Apple. A retail disc, or the gray discs from another model, will not work.
To boot from an optical disc or a flash drive, insert it, then reboot and hold down the C key at the startup chime. Release the key when you see the gray Apple logo on the screen.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.7 or later, you don't need media. It should boot into Internet Recovery mode when you hold down the key combination option-command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a spinning globe.
Once booted from the disc or in Internet Recovery, launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the internal drive — not any of the volume icons nested beneath it. In the Partition tab, select the default options: a GUID partition table with one data volume in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. This operation will permanently remove all existing data on the drive, which is what you should do.
After partitioning, quit Disk Utility and run the OS X Installer. When the installation is done, the system will automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant, which will prompt you to transfer the data from another Mac, its backups, or from a Windows computer. If you have any data to transfer, this is usually the best time to do it.
You should then run Software Update and install all available system updates from Apple. If you want to upgrade to a major version of OS X newer than 10.6, buy it from the Mac App Store. Note that you can't keep an upgraded version that was installed by the previous owner. He or she can't legally transfer it to you, and without the Apple ID you won't be able to update it in Software Update or reinstall, if that becomes necessary. The same goes for any App Store products that the previous owner installed — you have to repurchase them.
If the previous owner "accepted" the bundled iLife applications (iPhoto, iMovie, and Garage Band) in the App Store so that he or she could update them, then they're linked to that Apple ID and you won't be able to download them without buying them. Reportedly, Apple customer service has sometimes issued redemption codes for these apps to second owners who asked.
If the previous owner didn't deauthorize the computer in the iTunes Store under his Apple ID, you wont be able toauthorize it under your ID. In that case, contact iTunes Support.

  • [SOLVED] RAID0 Array - Unknown Partition Table

I recently reinstalled my Arch system with a RAID0 array, and I've noticed something different this time around during boot.
When the mdadm hook is initialized it will stop the array, check it, then start it. Once it's started it will say,
    md0: unknown partition table
And continue to the next array.
I believe this is fine since the system doesn't stall or anything during bootup. The concern I have is when the system then tries to activate the RAID arrays. It will show,
    Activating RAID Arrays [FAIL]
I've looked this up, http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=90415 and apparently it's nothing to be worried about. However, it didn't do that when I had my system installed not 20 minutes before (up to date).
I've created the mdadm configuration file as such,
    rm /mnt/etc/mdadm.conf
    mdadm --examine --scan >> /mnt/etc/mdadm.conf
Apparently, this message can be removed so it doesn't show fail on startup by commenting out the part in /etc/rc.sysinit where it assembles the RAID, lines 121-123. I'm still uneasy with it though, I'm just looking for some further insight on this subject.
Why doesn't my md0 device have a partition table and what is the system doing that causes the assembly to fail?
Edit - It might be important to note that I'm trying to make 3 partitions of the following size,
    /                      10GB
    /home         ~4TB
    /boot              50MB
    Thanks!

    Update: This behaviour is normal.
The partition table for a RAID array is not specified anywhere because the partition table is setup on the actual devices. In my case I have two partition tables set on /dev/sda and /dev/sdb, therefore /dev/md0 doesn't need any partition table.
    The code,
#If necessary, find md devices and manually assemble RAID arrays
    if [ -f /etc/mdadm.conf -a "$(/bin/grep ^ARRAY /etc/mdadm.conf 2>/dev/null)" ];
    then
status "Activating RAID arrays" /sbin/mdadm --assemble --scan
    fi
will check mdadm.conf for any arrays that are setup and try to assemble them. Since the arrays are assembled already by the mdadm hook, then the --assemble parameter will return an error. This is the reason for the [FAIL] message.
Since this is understood and not an actual "error", it is safe to comment out these lines in rc.sysinit. In fact, these lines are useless and should be taken out completely.
The reason why it didn't show up last time was because I didn't properly setup my mdadm.conf file on the previous install. This process made sure they were loaded, but if you follow the wiki and properly setup the mdadm.conf file then you don't need this line of code at all in your rc.sysinit.

  • Password Protected Wireless Network with Unknown Password

I have a Linksys WRTP54G wireless router for internet access with my laptop pc. It was installed by a local computer tech (who is no longer accessible) several years ago with my Gateway desktop computer which has Windows 98 for an operating system. I just purchased a Lenovo laptop which runs Windows Vista Home Premium. When I "power up" the Lenovo, I receive a message "Internet Explorer Cannot Display the Web Page". I then use Windows Network Diagnostics, and View Available Wireless Networks. Two networks are presented. The first is linksys - unsecured network. The second is the last name of the computer tech - security enabled network. I want to use the Security Enabled Network but when I choose it I am prompted for a password that I do not have. Can anyone tell me how to overcome this obstacle and either eliminate the need for a password or reset it with one that I create? I don't have great technical skills but follow instructions well.

You can just change the wireless settings by accessing the router's set-up page.. Try to check what is the the ip of your router by going to the desktop w/c is wired to the router and online.
    -Go to RUN
    -Typed in -winipcfg-
-Get the default gateway (it starts w/ 192.168.15.1)
-Open up IE or Firefox, typed in 192.168.15.1 on the address bar
-If it ask for the UN and PW, just typed -admin- (lower case) on the UN and PW
-If you see the Linksys set-up page that has blue and black color your on the right page BUT after you typed in -admin- and it still ask for the UN and PW and the last tech didnt leave you a UN and PW for the router then you need to reset the router and reconfigure everything...
-BUT if your on the Linksys set-up page, click on WIRELESS tab
-Look below and look for the WIRELESS NETWORK NAME SSID
-If you want to change it then go ahead and after changing it just click CONTINUE or you will go back to the same page
-If you want to check the wireless password or unsecure it:
-Click on WIRELESS SECURITY under the wireless tab
-You can get there your wireless password
-If you want to disable the wireless security then just
-Click on the drop down arrow on the SECURITY MODE and click on DISABLE
    Hope this helps....... n_n
By the way, the -- are not included..

  • StorEdge 3510 FC Array Transport/Hard Errors

We have a StorEdge 3510 connected to a V440 running Solaris 9. /var/messages indicates no errors however iostat -e shows hard and transport errors that increment continuously. If I access the controller on the 3510 I can see transport errors when I look at the Fibre Chanel errors on the drive side. The system contains 2 controllers in redundant mode, however we only have one FC cable path to the HBA on the V440. I have replaced the fibre cable to the HBA, the GBIC and swapped the controllers all of which have not resolved the issue. I have also had a case open with Sun for 2 months and they have no idea.
What could be causing these errors?

I presume that by now you have sorted this problem, but in case not, 512Gb is the maximum logical drive size when the i/o optimisation is random.
On the max disk size, I read somewhere that VxFS might help.

  • How to get around unknown password?

Say someone had a MacBook Pro and didn't know the logon username or password.  Is there a way to crack this?  This person could of course reload OSX and start fresh, but what if he/she wanted to see if any useful information was already on this computer?  Thanks guys.

Depending on what crime you committed to get that laptop, you might not want to crack the login.  For instance, if you could get life imprisonment or worse you should probably not pursue it as you could be tracked with Find My Mac.  On the other hand, if you're only risking a year or two behind bars if caught, then go ahead and try to open it.  I'm sure that would be a piece of cake for a guy like you.
