Storageworks 1/8 autoloader

i got 1 off ebay and it failed hp tools basic lto assessment in less than 3 seconds saying drive is no good and to contact hp support..i contacted them and they were no better than i googled and he said they just replace the drive and dont even go into them..bummeranyhow i had an extra internal hp ultrium 960 in my desktop so i put it in the autoloader and powered up i got A1-41 and A1-60. I dont understand what the heck the "axis is out of alignment or something like that..all i replaced was the drive and i could pull up the drive info from the front lcd display like the fw ver and ser no. so i know the drive installation was a success..but now those errors ( mainly the a1-60 i cant figure out anything to do with that 1..any help or do i just need to trash it......i replaced a drive in a dell powervault 122t that looks almost identical to the hp inside and out and the dell works fine....

Try loading a tape into the drive manually and then run mt -f /dev/rmt/0 status Every tape drive/autoloader (STK, HP, Exabyte, ATL) I have ever used on any unix system produced the results you are seeing until a tape is manually loaded into the drive so that mt has something to act upon when
mt -f /dev/rmt/0 status command is executed.

    Robotic Failure
    code: 9E 09

I really don't know how to solve it. Could some one help me?
    Thank you in advance.

I'm not certain if this is the best forum to post in as this is for consumer products.
It may be best to post in the business support forums found here.

  • OSB with HP StorageWorks SDLT 320

    Hi;
I'm trying to do a tape backup using OSB to HP storageworks SDLT 320 tape Drive.
I can configure the tape, and OSB can ping it successfully.
But, when i start the backup, OSB indicates that it is waiting for the tape (Pendding hardware ...).
I think that i must mount the tape before doing backup.
If it's the case, i need a script/tool to autoload the tape drive.
    Any idea?
    Thnx

    Hi folks;
    I've resolved the problem.
I must disable the tape drive currently used by HP storageworks and let OSB install its own drive.

  • Logic 7 Autoload in Logic 8??

Is there anyway I can transfer my Logic 7 autoload into Logic 8?>
I have just installed Logic 8 on my machine and still have logic 7 residing on there also. I also have my autoload template (new key commands etc) on my desktop.
Can I open this within Logic 8 as it has just opened a standard arrange page and all the key commands feel very odd!
Surely I dont have to redo my whole autoload again??

    1. Key commands are global in both L7 and L8 and not tied to an Autoload.
    2. Using L7 songs, including an Autoload can be a bumpy ride.
If you must however, I recommend:
    1. Open the Autoload in L7.
    2. Go into the Environment and delete all your audio channels, auxes, busses. outputs etc.
    3. Delete the Undo history.
    4. Save it under another name.
    5. Quit L7, open L8, and then load the renamed Autoload.
    6. Re-populate your audio tracks, auxes, busses, outputs, etc.
    7. Save it as a Template project.
I know that is a fair amount of work but in my experience it is the safe way to go.

  • Is there a way to prevent Elements from autoloading the last edited file on startup?

Every time I start Elements I have to wait for it to autoload the last edited image before I can do anything. Is there a way to turn this off?
I'm on a MacBook Pro running the current system 10.9.2 with 8 GB ram, 2.93 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo.

If you go to System Preferences>General and check Close windows when quiting an application, does that work?

  • Can't remove a movie from my autoload file

when i remove a movie from my autoload file, it reappears next time i open the autoload file.
is there a way to permenantly delete the movie?
    thanks

If you are manually opening it then it is not autoloading.  Either you are opening a file with a movie in it, removing the movie, but not saving.  Or you are opening a template that has a movie in it and not saving as a template (so the next template open has the movie in it).  Maybe you don't have advanced options checked in preferences, so the whole template idea is kind of hidden from you.

  • HP StorageWorks Ultrium 960 not showing up in windows

    hi everyone
i have  a HP StorageWorks Ultrium 960 - model q1538a - whic i have connected to a adaptec scsi 39160 problem i have is that the device is seen in device manager   which it says device is working and drivers are upto date but cant see the device in windows,i am running windows 7 64bit i appreciate if anyone can help
    frones

Even if you had the receipt you couldn't get your money back at this point. A point of clarification: when you say you stopped and restarted ipodservice.exe, Did you use the Start button or the Restart Service button?
You may need to remove iTunes, Quicktime, and all instances of ipodservice.exe and do a reinstall. When you do make sure you do not have any antivirus or antispyware running at the time as it can interfere with loading ipodservice.exe.
Finally, you may just have a hardware failure. If you do, exchange it here:

  • Can I use a tape autoloader device with OSB Express?

    Hi,
The Express version of OSB allows me to backup one server to one attached tape drive.
The DataSheet also mentions that OSB XE supports a maximum of one tape drive within a robotic library.
Does this allow me to use a tape autoloader (namely the SL24 LTO4) with OSB Express? The device is listed in the tape device compatibility matrix, but does not say of restrictions between the fully licensed and the Express version.
    Thank you,
    Adrian

Yes, OSB-XE could be used with the tape autoloader listed on the device...as long as it has only one tape drive.

  • Xserve and HP StorageWorks Ultrium 1840 SCSI

    Hi everyone,
I'm planning on buying a new Xserve (and an Xserve RAID) and using the relatively new HP StorageWorks Ultrium 1840 SCSI (external tape drive) to do backups. The specs are over here:
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&task Id=120&prodSeriesId=3454484&prodTypeId=12169&objectID=c01121300
I just called EMC Insignia (was Dantz) and they say it's compatible with Retrospect for Macintosh Workgroup Edition. Now I'm a little confused at which Xserve BTO options to choose.
Is it correct that I will need to select these options?
    Slot 1: Dual-Channel U320 SCSI-Card with PCI-X-Riser
    Slot 2: Dual-Channel 4 GBit Fibre Channel-PCI-Express-Card
If I understand correctly I need the U320 card to connect the Ultrium and the Dual Fibre Channel to connect ONE Xserve RAID, am I correct?
    Thanks a lot!
    Björn

Yes, you have the right combination of cards there.
However, please rethink your choice of software.
There are numerous horror stories on these boards and others related to Retrospect in a Server environment. For some reason it just does not work, causing instability, hangs, poor performance and system crashes.
There are better alternatives including NetVault, BRU and Time Navigator, amongst others.

  • How do I stop iCal from autoloading on startup?

iCal used to autostart when I started up my computer.  Then I started keeping a flashdrive plugged in for convenience, but I had to remove it to prevent iPhoto from autoloading on startup of my iMacG5.  Neither application is autostarting at this time; I hope I have found a permanent solution.

to stop iPhoto from launching when a flash drive is plugged in go to the iPhoto preferences and set action when a camera is connected to do nothing
Your post is extremely unclear - do you want to stop iCal form loading - or do you want it to start again?

  • Unable to regenerate /dev/rmt/0 drivers with cfgadm -c configure on Solaris 10 update 11 (1/13).  How does one do this for SAS HBA StorageTek Autoloader?

How does one regenerate the /dev/rmt/0 when cfgadm -c configure <device> will not rebuild it?  Have attempted reboot -- -r, with modifing /kernel/drv/st.conf as well as /kernel/drv/sgen.conf.  Running on a SPARC T4-1 Solaris 10 updat3 11, (1/13).

This has been resolved.  Getting the /etc/driver_aliases set correctly: # update_drv -d -i st; update_drv -d -i sgen; add_drv -m '* 0600 root sys' -i '"scsiclass,01" "scsiclass,08" wa' worked.  Making sure the st and sgen entries are in /etc/name_to_major were needed.  For the Simpana/CommVault WA drivers, in opt/simpana/WA/wa.conf with the name="wa" parent="fp" target=16 lun=0 fc-port-wwn="device's World Wide Number> added for each lun 0 to 7.  Then the touch /reconfigure; reboot worked.  First the c1::rmt/0 tape and c1::scsi/changer/<wwn> med-changer were mapped.  After modifying the minor_perm ('* 0600 root sys') and name_to_major entries, the WA CommValt entries , WA drivers showed up in cfgadm -al as c1::wa0  tape and c1::wa1  med-changer, only recognizable from CommVault.  Also had to update the SAS-2 HBA StoregTek Autoloader driver with patch 145648-05. Solaris 10 update 11 (1/13) comes with 145648-03.  In our particular case, we found cfgadm -al mapped SAS-2 HBA to c1 using the single mini-sas 6gb connector cable, where it mapped to c7 with the four tail connector.

You are asking for someone with MOS credentials to violate the terms of that MOS agreement.
Firmware updates are only available to Oracle customers.
You become an Oracle customer when you have paid for the privilege to get access to such resources from the company by buying a support contract. You are NOT a customer just because you have some of the software and use it.
If you need support, then go pay for the right to get support.

  • L8 Autoloader not displaying S/N

We have an L8 Autoloader with the 320GB SDLT. When connected up to the system, it does not display the s/n. The S/N is on the physical unit but manager is requesting it display correctly on system so it does not need to be removed from cabinet when verifying for audits/inventorying/service. Can't locate original manuals and documents are not available online. If anyone knows how to configure this or can send me a URL that might help me out I would greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks,
    Jon

I don't think you will be able to achieve this anyway, I glanced through the user guide and it seems that the system doesn't have a way to program an identity for display. The only thing I would say that may have the S/N is the firmware revision, to access the current revision; from Home menu scroll through to find the Information sub menu, press enter and scroll through to find the firmware revision. If the S/N isn't available perhaps you could try the old school way and create a ID tag for the items in the rack using sticky labels, I've seen this inventory method used in locations with +4000 hosts and peripherals. The Spectrum silver warranty upgrade for the L8 is about $750 for 1 year.
