StorCenter ix2-200 Cloud Edition 6TB disk supported?

Hi Community,
I have a 2x1TB StorCenter ix2-200 and I would like to upgrade the disks to bigger size. I see that WD RED 4TB is supported, but I would like to buy two 6TB at same value/GB. But will it work? I know it's not officially compatible (yet), but 1,2,3,4 TB are already approved.
System says it's up-to-date on the firmware.
Regards
Jonas

It is a matter of hardware/software compatibility and limitations.
The hard drives in your Iomega ix2-200, ix4-200d, ix4-200r, px12-350r and ix12-300r can only be replaced with the specific model and capacity of drive that Iomega has qualified for each device.
Using other disks won't work, could cause operating system damage, and may void your warranty.
Here is a compatibility list and any drives 3TB or lower should work.
HDDs approved for use with ix2 and ix2-dl

    2.1.44.30050 ..
How do I get it to work ??
I hope son body help me

    Hello AllanUrup
What is the issue you are having when trying to use the ix2-200?
Have you already checked the ix2-200 Knowledge Base regarding the issue?
If you are having issues using the WD 3 TB disks with the unit, be sure that you followed the upgrade guide from here.
Also just a heads up, the ix2-200 did not ship with disd larger than 2 TB.  Some users have been able to use larger disks, however it usually ends up causing RAID instability.
The ix2-200 Cloud Edition and higher support disks larger than 2 TB officially.

  • Iomega StorCenter ix2-200 version 2.1.48.30125 - can't browse folders

Hi, I have a Iomega StorCenter ix2-200.  Everything is working fine, I can browse and access folders using windows explorer.  BUT, as soon as I added it to our domain, if I access it from explorer using \\192.168.3.15\ it will prompt me for a password, and no password is working....so I cannot see any folder. I would like it to work as any NAS do, meaning I would like to see the folders and then set permissions on them. I do not want it to prompt for a password.  What am I doing wrong?  thank you!

    Hello lorenzo_phse,
Are there any local users stored on the NAS?
    Those credentials should work.
Have you tried mapping one of the shares from a Domain machine?
It might also be worthy to note here that the firmware version is fairly old and it is possible that there may just be a compatibility issue.

  • Iomega - StorCenter iX2-200 - TUTORIAL

How do I set up the Airport Extreme so that it works well with the Iomega StorCenter ix2-200. I would not think any tutorial for theAirport settings in which the manual says Iomega.
    Regards,

My best advise to you would be to return the unit if at all possible. I have had nothing but trouble with mine and iomega support is dreadful.
Currently on the 2nd unit. Had a hard drive fail on this one 2 weeks ago, they have still not authorised a replacement drive and today the 2nd drive has also failed. Another dead unit.

  • StorCenter ix2-200 disrupts network switch

I have an Iomega StoreCenter IX2-200 that is connected via ethernet to a Netgear GS105 Gigabit ethernet switch along with other devices such as my laptop, printer and a different/older Iomega StorCenter.  Then the switch itself is connected to a Netgear router (through another switch that services the rest of my home).  Everythying has worked fine for a few years.  Now I am suddenly unable to connect to my NAS devices.  And the lights on the Netgear switch will cycle between all lights on all ports blink together, then the lighs for each port with light in order.  Then it repeats.  I discovered if I unplug my IX2-200 from the switch, all activity returns to normal (all other devices, including my older StorCenter work fine).  I tried plugging it in to different ports on the switch and get the same issue regardless where I plug it in.  Does it sound like my IX2-200 enclosure (and the internal network adapter) need to be replaced?  The lights on the IX2-200 seem to be indicate normal functioning and I can hear the disks spinning normally when I restart it.  Any ideas how to diagnose what the problem is?  I am hoping I can just find another NAS enclosure that supports SATA II disks and switch enclosures.  But don't want to waste my money if that's not the issue.  Any help is appreciated.

UPDATE: I connected the ix2-200 directly to my router and it appears to work. I cannot connect to it to use the management utility via Internet Explorer (certificate issues, then won't connect) but can get to it via Chrome. Oh well, so there is still something buggy with my configuration somewhere but at least the ix2-200 is working,

  • Iomega StorCenter ix2-200 device fails when powered. Best way to retrieve data

Hi, I'm new here because until now I've been lucky enough to experience no issues with my NAS.
Unfortunately, as of this morning when I power on the ix2 the '!' light blinks red. I can't connect to it through my computer and the desktop Iomega program, under 'dashboard' everything seems as usual except the pie chart showing space usage is not there. But it does still say the device is operating normally. However, when I click on Users or Shared Storage it says 'Disks Not Ready. The selected function is not available due to the state of the disks. Visit the dashboard for details.'
Can anyone advise me what to do from here? I keep a backup elsewhere but I would like to get a few little things of that have been added since my last backup if possible though, it's not the end of the world if it's not.
    Many thanks, James.

Can you create new shares? Some users have been able to retrieve their data by adding the shares back by the same name. Not sure if it will be the same case here. A Linux-based device should be able to read from the drives, so there may be an error on the drive or a bad sector possibly. You may need to use a data recovery service to retrieve the data.
You could try one other thing by accessing the hidden support page.
    Follow the instructions here: http://www.vmcutlip.com/index.php/2013/04/howto-enable-ssh-root-level-access-on-an-iomega-storcenter...
Select "Recover Disks". I would only do this as a last resort and are not concerned with losing the data.

  • Iomega StorCenter ix2-200 - Harddrive failure.

Hi, I own a Iomega ix2-200. It's the 2x2 GB Device with firmware version: 2.1.42.18967A few weeks ago the red-LED started to blink in front of the device.
I check the Iomega system manager and it says.
"The Iomega StorCenter device is degraded and data protection is at risk".So I check the log.It says:10/07/2013 8:05 pm Drive number 1 cannot be detected.10/07/2013 8:05 pm Data is available, but a failure has been detected. My question is. How do I know what drive is "Drive number 1" and how do I know what type of drive I need to replace the old one with?I really would prefer if I could fix this problem myself rather than to send the whole device for repairs when it's only a drive that's broken. Thanks for your time // Max B

Hi Africa13 Yeah they should do fine, are either of your current disks operational?  When you replace the drives, the Iomega software is actually stored on the existing drives, not the enclosures built in memory. So when replacing, it will need a drive with the software on it. You basically replace one drive at a time and then allow the new drive to build. Once its complete, you replace the other and allow it to build then the same way. I had no issues with my two WD 2TB 3.5" SATA-600 IntelliPower 64MB Caviar Red that I put in, so you should be fine. Kind Regards Buckweed

  • Slow startup after installing on my StorCenter ix2-200 CE the latest firmware version 3.2.10.30101

    Hi,
After installing some weeks ago the new firmware version 3.2.10.30101, the startup of my device is taking consistently around 45-60 minutes to be full operative, accessing to its web interface or being mapped and available the different disk units that i have configured.
What about the corresponding warranty that should have the new firmware? If it has being published and recommended by Lenovo, it should have the corresponding period of warranty.
    So:
1.- Has the root cause been detected? Should we have a new firmware version solving it? Because it seems downgrade to previous firware version is not possible.
2.- Could you confirm a possible workaround? Disconnect network cable and startup device till consisten white led...?
3.- For an alternative solution, can it help to rewrite this firmware version? How is the procedure?
4.- Does full factory reset help? If yes, i can look for making a backup, and try it.
Waiting for your suggestion of next steps.
    Thanks for your support.
    Javi

    Hello jdehoyosr
My answer is still the same.  You would not have been able to factory reset the unit and retain your data without backing up the data first.  I have already clearly explained that the backup and restore feature could have allowed you to backup your settings/configurations to be restored after the factory reset.  You would have still needed to restore your data from the backup after the factory reset regardless if you had used the configuration backup and restore option for your settings.
The configuration backup and restore would not have been able to the firmware glitch that you were experiencing.  If would have had a previous backup file, it would only have applied settings that you had previously backed up. Depending on which restore option was picked it could have also wiped your data.

  • Data Protection Verification Stuck on Iomega StorCenter ix2-200

Anybody can kindly advise how to handle this issue?
When logging into the storage web management UI 2 weeks back, I saw below message:
Verifying data protection configuration. Verification is 1% complete.
Now it is still 1% only, so I am thinking something must be wrong even though my NAS looks still working fine.
May I know how to deal with it?
    Thanks in advance!

My device is ok now. The '...1%' message has gone after being stuck for weeks. There had been another data protection verification activity afterwards which completed quickly.
From event log I could only see very brief info like:
    "9029","2014-08-29 10:49:37","","INFORMATION","Verifying storage data protection."
but it does not provide any value...

  • Iomega IX2-200 CE dead

    Hi!
I have a StorCenter IX2-200 Cloud Edition that today was not found on my LAN. No ping, no sound form the harddrives, no light in any of the frontside led's. Nothing. Only the LAN-port led's are blinking when powerchord is connected, blinking like a small burst, every few seconds . Regardless of ethernet cable is connected or not.
I have tried pressing the pinhole reset, but that does not make it spin up.
    Any ideas?
    Regards
    Jonas

    Hello phazeone
If disconnecting and reconnecting the power adapter does not force the unit to turn on, then the power adapter or chassis has failed.
If you do try moving the disks to another ix2-200 CE unit, you should follow this guide, Moving disks from one network storage device to another for the best chances of success.

  • Alert EMAILS from IX2-200 No Longer Work

The last ALERT email I received was in November 2014 advising me that there was a new upgrade available.  Since that time there has been nothing .... recently I had to "shut" the system down by unplugging it .... guess what -- never rec'd an email ALERT to the failure.  I have tried updating my email in the system and request a test email ... but never get anything.
    I beleive my emails should be going thru the myremote.nas relayhost server.  this is what I see in my /usr/local/cfg/Email.xml (<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><Email Default_Password="Hkv482N9G" Default_RelayServer="alerts.myremotenas.com:587" Default_Sender="[email protected]" Default_User="lifelinesohostorage" _Fixed_="1">).
I have the older IX2-200 NON-CLOUD Edition of the system and it is at 2.1.46.30093 firmware (latest).
Don't know if this is a system problem or if something has happened to the myremote.nas server.  Is there an update available or something else that I have to do in order to get my ALERT notifications working again??
    Appreciate your help ....

I reset my email in settings to blank, shut down the device and then restarted.  Once rebooted, I went to settings and added my email back in and asked for a test message to be sent -- nothing received.  SSH'd into the device and upon looking at the mail.log here's what I see ....

  • Ix2-200 VERY slow accessing files via osx 10.10

ix2-200 running fine. Drives are good. Using latest firmware 2.1.46.30093.
Can manage via browser just fine.
Connect to server using smb ipaddr and it mounts up just fine.
I can open the directory (using osx 10.10.1) with finder just fine, but when I try to access the files within the directory, nothing shows up (I know the files are there) and can hear/see drive activity (blue light flashes). If I wait an hour or so, I can start seeing files. Since this is a laptop, it's not possible to always leave it connected and waiting at least an hour after connecting to it is not acceptable.
How can this issue be resolved?
    Thanks
    Bill

    Hello morber
Try connecting to the ix2-200 via AFP instead of SMB/windows file sharing on your Mac.
Finder> Go> Connect to Server,  there enter the ip address of the unit and proceed.  It should ask which share folders to access and if secured, enter the NAS user account credentials.

  • Dynamic Disk Support in Azure Pack

Is Dynamic Disk supported to be added into a VM that is part of a cloud through Windows Azure Pack?

what do you mean by dynamic disk ?
Do you mean dynamically expanding VHDs ?
If you mean that than i confirm you that you can use either dynamic or fixed VHDs types (VHD and VHDx)
Fixed VHDs limitation is only in Microsoft Azure and not in Windows Azure Pack (only VHD)
