I have Notebook Toshiba Satellite L300D-12Y and I bought a hard drive Store Art Version 2, 2.5 "500 GB. is ok, but I am not there such as BlueRay movie copy downloaded from the internet about 8 GB write to me: BlueRay ... file is the target file system too great.

I have a new HP Elite Desktop running Windows 7 Home Edition:
I bought some few months ago a Toshiba Store Art 2Tb Ext Hard drive, which until today worked well. Today I started the PC in the morning (with no update of Windows or other software) to find it would no longer recognize the Toshiba Hard drive. It still recognizes the WD drives, and the SimpleTech drives when they are plugged in. All External Drives are powered separately and do not rely on USB power.
I tried the Store Art on other PC's and it works fine. I tried switching the cables, and the cable works on other drives, (and other cables will not make this Store Art work). I tried several USB 2 ports on the PC, with no luck *(but all ports work with the other drives).
I tries COMPUTER, MANAGE, and checked Drvivers and Disks. There was no sign of the Disk available (no malfunctioning disk), it was just not there at all.
I searched the web - tried a range of techniques (unplugging PC from power) and more. No luck.

Well - this is incredible. After leaving the Ext Store Art Drive turned off all day ( but the PC was left on) | cam home ready to try the advice of Keaney (thanks for your advice) which was the same as the techies at work: Try to roll back to OS to last good restore point - eg a week ago. Just before I did anything like that - I just flipped it on to see if a miracle occurred. Guess what. It fired up, was recognised, and all is working.
This is amazing - since my original posting: the PC has not been restarted, not been turned off, not been updated with new OS updates, has not had anything except normal web usage. Similarly the Store Art Ext HDD has been left off for the day, and just turned on tonight - not change plugs or cables or USB or anything. No cables have been touched or plugs jiggled. It just works.
Its like there is a gremlin there - teasing me, testing me, causing me havoc - and laughing all the way. I have no idea how this happened - but will monitor to see if it happens again.

tried another cable (from a camera) with no joy. However after turning off TM and searching for the EHD and not finding it, I revisited Disk Utility and can 'see' it there. The bad news is that it says,

Using Anchored Frame Object Attributes to "Store" Art Numbers

Good Morning, Everyone,
I have been using FrameMaker for over 15 years now, and as a tech writer who has inherited LOTS of graphics-intensive documents from previous writers, I have often struggled with identifying source files for embedded graphics. (I prefer to embed graphics in my documents, but that is a topic for another discussion ;-) ) More often than not, graphics have been named something that made sense to the original author at the time, but is nothing more than cryptic code to me now.
As a result, over the years, I have developed a personal "system" for naming my graphics files that identifies/names each file as the document number in which it resides followed by a sequential number. For example, if a document number is UM345-123, then my graphic files are named UM345-123_0001, UM345-123_0002, etc. I then include a small (hopefully unobtrusive) 8-point text frame in the lower right-hand corner of the graphics frame that indicates the file name for the base graphic. I create an Art# tag that includes an autonumber for the Document Number (e.g., UM345-123,) which is then inserted into the text frame, and I assign the next sequential number to the graphic/file. The advantage to this is that in the future, files are easily identified if someone wants to use my graphic and all they have is a pdf copy of my document - anyone can easily locate the source file and either update it or forward it on.
One disadvantage is that in some situations, fitting the text frame/graphic number into the graphic frame is tough - to the point where it detracts from the graphic itself. I am now wondering if it is possible to somehow utilize Anchored Frame Attributes to store the graphic number in these situations. Perhaps create a new attribute specifically for the Art Number? Has anyone else done something similar?

We do this as well, either as a text frame, or in the caption table below, with the reference ID set to a non-obnoxious gray. The main issue with doing this is that the ID is hand-typed, and can easily be incorrect, but usually only when it matters .
We also have other metadata, that the end users don't see, such as file type, scale and rotation, and this is text with a color set, at rendering, to Invisible by Color Views.
What you really want, however, is metadata that can't be incorrect, and shows the complete provenance of the object. For this, use text in the original art that is several mm above the art/table/chart extents. Clip it after import with the top edge of the anchoring frame or graphic frame within. End users never see it, but future document stewards can either slide the image down, or pull the frame edge up, to reveal the trail of crumbs leading back to the object's place of birth.
Caution: that out-of-frame metadata may survive into the PDF, depending on Distiller vintage and settings. You can remove it via Examine Document in Acrobat Pro.

StorE art 500GB not recognized on Windows 7

I have problem with my HDD (its not working on my Windows 7 64 bit),
-> it works on every xp, vista windows
-> I am sure my USB cable etc. is ok
-> my HDD is ok (I have two pieces of this and both not working on Windows 7 64 bit)
-> when I phoned polish Toshiba service they told me that Windows 7 dosen't support any external HDD...
when I plug HDD my Windows 7 searching for drivers and then is only some error that it cannot find drivers.
Any ideas what to do?

Which error you get exactly on Windows 7 about this external HDD?
Normally you dont need any additional drivers for external HDDs. Is the external HDD listed in disk management of Windows?
Which Windows 7 version you are using exactly? I would recommend checking for Windows updates.

I was using my HDD for about half an hour on Windows xp OS and everything was OK. When I installed new Windows 7 x64 I have a problem. Windows detect a HDD, but i can't send there any files. I formated it, but it doesn't help. Can someone help me?

I just got the same Haredisk Drive, and it won't function properly on windows 7.
I formatted it 3 times in a row now, and i chose NTFS and some option that said 4096 bytes! and it still won't work properly.
Files are being copied onto the HDD but if I try playing it, it doesn''t open or plays half way and says theres an error.
And whenever I've tried copying the same files back onto the computer it only copies half way through! and some folders won't even open.
Please help me! what do you mean by lowest setting?

Toshiba USB External HDD STOR E art 3.5"

Have the HDD connected to the notebook with windows 7 but the HDD isn't recognize. Try to connect to other 2 USB ports but the result is the same. use a pen drive to test the 3 USB ports they are ok! In the disk maneger don't show the HDD. Connected to other notebook with windows 7 was recognize it, Did a format and for file sistem I use the NTFS option.

Stor.E Art 3 External Disk - how to apply data protection?

I've recently bought Stor.E Art 3 External Disk - mostly becouse there was lines like "Data Encryption" and "Password protected"
So how can I apply these things to External Disk? I imagined, that there will some kind of software, that just asks for password each time I connect HDD to PC...
But there was no other software than NTI Backup Now EZ. Will that Backup software do this thing?
Otherwise its user misinformation :(

The drive is not showing up in explorer (computer) or device manager or disk management.
Only _*suggestion*_
I have found so far is to uninstall USB ports/hubs from the machine and then restarting the machine.
So far the USB ports are working fine - other devices e.g. mouse, pen drive etc. work properly when connected to those ports.
I wish to know:
1. Will uninstalling USB ports/hubs and restarting fix the problem?
2. Is there an alternative and better solution available?

I wanted to now how big of a hard drive can i use in my gigabit ethernet g4 powerpc with a dual 500 processor . at the present time i have one 80 and one 20 gig drive in there now.
So my answer is how big of a drive can i use before i have problems with seting it up. Like i want to use a 500 gig drive in my computer and my old 80 gig too. i want to buy a apple tv and store my dvds on the big 500 hardrive so i have alot of room for the vidio files, for apple t.v . If i can use one as big as one terabite you now the real big one that would be fine. The more room i have the better for me. I will be able to watch the movies i downloaded from the internet and i wont have to burn them at all.
This is of corse if apple tv will handle it.

If you need that much storage, and you'll have to buy a controller anyhow, get a SATA controller card, and put one or two 500gb SATA drives in. Lacie dead - iTunes store & backup lost!

Yesterday, I hooked up my Lacie D2 to my new MacBookPro so I could transfer some work files (to see how fast the MBP is) and to listen to my iTunes music, which I keep on the Lacie. Somehow, through hitting a series of keys whilst working, I recall the Lacie being indexed (in a window up near spotlight) and not thinking too much of it. Anyway, I stopped using the MBP and it went to sleep etc, but upon my return the Lacie wouldn't allow ne access to the data - it just sort of clicks away as if attempting spin up. The icon is there on the desktop ok, and iTunes will launch and display my library, but it won't play anything. I use the Lacie to backup my work both daily and monthly as well as store a library of over 7,500 songs. Is is dead, or just broken? Any help would be much appreciated.

It's a good sign that the drive appears on the desktop. Try Disk Utilities repair function. If that does not work get a copy of DiskWarrior and rebuild the directory. If those fail you, you may have to reformat (erases all data).
Depending on one drive is not a good idea, especially with valuable data and purchased items. Back up and back up again.

500 Pre-order bonus points for Far Cry 4 not listed or pending

Hello,
I'm a Best Buy Elite and GCU member. I pre-ordered Far Cry 4 on November 11th and picked up the game in store on November 18th but the 500 points that im supposed to receive for pre-ordering the game isn't listed on the transaction and there's no points pending.

Old Navy Store Card Approval

Hi everyone,I thought since I like to lurk around these forums and see everyone's good luck I would share some good luck I got.I only have 2 credit cards at the moment Capital One QS1 - $800 and Kohls - $300.I really like shopping at Old navy so i thought i would try and apply for their store card, I applied online and got the message to call in so I did that and was told I was approved for the store card with a limit of $500 Yay!!!I also tried applying for JCP later that day but received the 7-10 day message... oh well! I am happy with my 3 cards I got now and will not apply for any more until next year. In the future i would love to get the discover it card

A weird tale of Album Art

Hi all,
I don't really expect an answer to this, but I think it's an interesting story (and, yes, I've also posted this in the iTunes Discussion).
I've manually updated all the album art for my approximately 400-500 albums in iTunes. Everything was fine for a while. I then noticed that R.E.M.'s "Out of Time" wasn't displaying the album art (just that large grey musical note) when songs were playing on my iPod Touch 4th Generation, even though the album art correctly displays on iTunes on my MacBook Pro. Of course, I tried shutting the iPod off, etc.
So I manually inserted the album art again (even though, very interestingly, the first five times I tried to download a copy of the album cover, it would show up blank in "downloads"). Weird!
This morning, as I was driving to work (I usually just "shuffle" all my songs) a Loretta Lynn song ("Little Red Shoes" -- a weird song) from her album "Van Lear Rose" showed the album art from "Out of Time"!! Ack! It's possessed!!

Where exactly is the artwork stored?
Stored in the Artwork folder in the iTunes folder.
If it’s art you added to the songs themselves, it is part of the files.
If I decide to migrate this music to a new machine, how do i go about insuring all the various artwork goes with it?
Just copy the entire iTunes folder over. On the new computer, start iTunes holding the Option key and selec5t Choose existing library and choose the iTunes library file in the folder you moved over.
How come when I am listening to the music stored on my PowerMac through my laptop (Sharing the music) some of the artwork displays and some does not?
I don’t believe (not sure though) iTunes will get artwork for shared music. It will display for artwork embedded in the file itself.
