Store credit in iTunes is not available

I just entered a credit code for iTunes and now there's 15€ (I'm from Germany) credit on my account.
But when I want to buy a certain album (which costs 15,99€) there comes the notification: "Store credit is not available at the moment. Currently we can't use store credit for this purchase" (Original in German: "Store Guthaben zurzeit nicht verfügbar. Wir können derzeit kein Store-Guthaben für diesen Kauf verwenden.").
Why can't I use these 15€ for buying an album? Is this a known problem?

Möglich, dass es nicht geht, nur Teile eines Kaufs aus dem Guthaben zu bezahlen. Eventuell ist die Fehelrmeldung irreführend.

I was having this exact issue when I was set up to use PayPal as my payment method. I fixed it by -
1. going to my iTunes account and selecting None as my method of payment, then clicking Done
2. confirming this on my account page - which then said Add (or Set up, I can't remember) a Credit Card
3. on the Add a credit card page, I again set up the exact same PayPal account I had before.
4. I was then taken to the PayPal website to confirm that I wanted to use my PayPal account for iTunes purchases, and finally
5. I was taken back to my account page in iTunes, which looked exactly the same as before BUT...
The next time I tried it, my purchase went straight through! (And this was less than 5 minutes after I'd had the "Credit Card processing is temporarily unavailable" message.)
YMMV, but I guess a similar revalidation process would work for credit cards too.

Thank you for your responses.. To Sjazbec, At least you guys in Germany and the Netherlands have some kind of posters from Apple to let you know that the feature is not available.
There is no such warning on the Irish Apple site.!
My point was that, I would not have even considered trying to reorganize my itunes library had I known that the feature is not available in Ireland.
And that falls into the domain of Apple Ireland advertising.. which I"m sorry to say is false and misleading.
There are no "posters" telling the Irish customer that icloud / itunes music is not available!
I"m not blaming Apple for not "having the feature" in Ireland.. I am upset at them for falsing advertising a feature that they cannot for whatever reason deliver to Irish customers..

just call them...i bought my PB when it came out...but I had an issue recently and called them up and they helped me out....

If there is no itunes store in your country then you cannot use the itunes store.

If it's an Apple Store gift card then you can't, that can only be used in the Apple online store and their bricks-and-mortar stores, not on your iTunes account

I have the same error for Windows Vista. I read all the community posts and followed the suggested fixes including numerous uninstalls and installs, clearing cache, choosing various SSL TL options, turning off all spyware and nothing has worked. My internet works fine for all my other programs so not sure what is going on with Itunes. I will not buy anymore products through

Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.

I am trying to download a digital movie and I am being told that iTunes is not available now.

I am trying to download a Disney digital copy of a movie, but I keep getting the message that iTunes is not available now. Try back later. I have the latest version of iTune (11.0.1).
