Store downloading to wrong drive

Back in the day, I used to use an external hard-drive for all of my media because it took up so much space. My Mac mini simply didn't have enough room for my gargantuan collection of music.
Then I bought my MacBook Pro and decided that the external hard drive wasn't near as portable as my laptop, so I moved all of my iTunes music to my laptop.
Things were great...
Until I noticed the first error in my system.
I copied the actual library file to my new computer, which told iTunes that alllll my music was on the hard drive (and I keep it backed-up there, just in case) despite that it's on both. Whenever I disconnect the external drive, iTunes says that the music cannot be found and offers to let me find it myself. I accept the offer, punch in the song name I want, and the problem is fixed.
Life was happy....
until I noticed the second error in my system.
Any time that I connect the external hard drive to my laptop, I have to make sure that I don't purchase anything from the iTunes store otherwise it downloads it to my external drive. I've gone into iTunes preferences and told it to download to my laptop's drive, and that works as long as the external drive is disconnected.
Anyone know how to fix my little problem?
I have a feeling that it has something to do with the fact that I copied the original .lib file, but I really don't want to have to start all over and reimport the music to get a properly working library, as that will take away my playlists, ratings, play counts, and album artwork.

I have a similar problem with itunes on my MacBook. I have all my music files on a 500 Gig Time Capsule so they wont eat up space on the MacBook hard drive I set the preferences on itunes to use the music folder as the itunes library, then every time I turn the MacBook off the preference resets to the hard drive in the laptop. I would have to reset the preference and add all the songs back to the itunes library every time I wanted to listen or import anything. I recently moved the itunes application to the Time Capsule and have since not had an issue.

Hey there,
One thing you should check is where your iTunes searches for your iTunes folder. Head to iTunes and then Preferences. When the window pops up, head over to the Advanced tab. Near the top of the tab, you will see where iTunes currently locates your Music folder. Click the Change button and then direct it to where the folder is located on your External drive. See if that helps.

I tell Creative Cloud to install My Apps on the D Drive in prefferences but they fail to install because some troglydite at Adobe has never heard of a multi hard drive system! How about asking a customer where to but the &^%$% Download, or have a download location prefference!!! My "C" drive is a small SSD for OS Only and your stupid program still wants to put the download on the "C" drive where ther is NO ROOM!!!!! I use NVIDIA Graphics cards and everytime I download a driver it lets me designate a location. ALL I GET from Creative Cloud is "Install failed C Drive does not have enough space" or words to that effect.

Itunes Store Download Gone Wrong ?

I had purchased and downloaded a Music video off the itunes store last night. This morning. I had turned Off my computer while it was processing. Now My music video is no where to be seen, Not even on the purchased? How can i fix this.
I'm not too happy about loseing my $...

How does one save App Store downloads to a flash drive?

I live in South Africa, where Internet access is expensive/slow compared to the rest of the world.
For this reason, I would like to backup my App Store downloads so I can do a clean install every few years.
I've downloaded GarageBand which has been saved in my applications folder.
I have not run the installer yet.
In applications, the file GarageBand.app has been created.
If I right click on the file, I can copy it, but right clicking again doesn't give me a paste option.
Any idea how to save this file to a flash drive?

There is no digital rights management scheme used in the Mac App Store aside from the fact that all apps/games are coded with the user's Apple ID and the Mac on which one wishes to use an app/game must be authorized to use that Apple ID's content.
The only difference in this case is that my thumb drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled) because it is my bootable USB installer for Mavericks. But as you can see it works fine.

Have a LaCie external 2big RAID drive; two 1T drives in RAID 0 configuration (striped). Drive works perfectly as one big 2T external disk but Mac Installer (Lion - App Store download & Snow Leopard DVD) refuse to install OS X Lion or OS X Snow Leopard on RAID drive.
Previous RAID - two 500g's in RAID 0 had SnowLeopard/Lion installed and worked just fine as bootable drive.

Keep in mind a RAID 1 only protects you from hardware failure of one of the drives. It does not protect you if the hardware raid/chip set decides to take a vacation. Also, if FCP corrupts a file, it is written as corrupt to both drives.
I'm a big fan of separate but equal. Two drives. One goes to the site, the other remains at the hotel. At night, you back up the site disk to the the hotel disk. If something happens to the computer and the disk at the site the next day, you at least have the material back at the hotel.

A nonprofit has asked me to configure new Windows 7 computers so that all content is BLOCKED from the hard drive, but any downloads may be downloaded to the individual's flash drive.
The nonprofit allows individuals to play games, check e-mails, but we have a problem with them trying to upgrade Firefox, Google, etc.
They want all configuration to the DEFAULT STATUS after a person log off the computer....no upgrades to any programs!
I will occasionally upgrade programs once a month or so, as the volunteer administrator.
They have changed the controls from Windows ME and XP, when I was a computer programmer and installer (I also worked during Windows 3.11, 95 and 98/98 SE versions as well)...
Anyone help me, please?

ITunes album artwork - how can I stop iTunes downloading the wrong artwork?

I was delighted to see that in the upgraded iTunes there is a facility to download album artwork using, I presume, much the same methodology as downloading track listings.
While my experience of downloading track listings has largely been OK - save for the odd niggle; my experience of the artwork function has been appalling.
Firstly, any release that is territory specific, e.g. UK only, or compilations, downloads the wrong artwork or no artwork at all. But also, the wrong artwork is attributed for classic albums by established acts. E.g. Genesis' Duke, downloads the artwork for Three Sides Line. Also, I have two Led Zeppelin albums and in each case, the art work downloaded was for the cheesy tribute group DREAD Zeppelin!!
Can anyone from Apple comment on this?
Also, if I manually insert the correct artwork; will this be overwritten if in the future I scan for updated artwork across my music collection? I have 65GB+ music on my hard drive, so that is an awful lot of album covers to get through!

buy an external HD 1TB for $60
NO notebook is a mass storage device, so dont try to turn it into one, it doesnt work that way.
Unless youre using it every couple weeks, its static data and should be on an external HD
In the case of a Macbook Air or Macbook Pro Retina with ‘limited’ storage on the SSD, this distinction becomes more important in that in an ever rapidly increasing file-size world, you keep vital large media files, pics, video, PDF collections, music off your SSD and archived on external storage, for sake of the necessary room for your system to have free space to operate, store future applications and general workspace. You should never be put in the position of considering “deleting things” on your macbook SSD in order to ‘make space’.
Professionals who create and import very large amounts of data have almost no change in the available space on their computers internal HD because they are constantly archiving data to arrays of external or networked HD.
Or in the case of the consumer this means you keep folders for large imported or created data and you ritually offload and archive this data for safekeeping, not only to safeguard the data in case your macbook has a HD crash, or gets stolen, but importantly in keeping the ‘breathing room’ open for your computer to operate, expand, create files, add applications, for your APPS to create temp files, and for general operation.

ITune Store download stopped (err=8003, -3259, etc.)

Since upgrading to vers. 7 I have troubles downloading TV Shows (f.e. Prison Break Season1) for which I payed for.
The downloads are starting but stopped suddenly with above mentioned error messages. Very annoying also as some of the downloads pursue to about 95%, stop and are restarting from 0% again!
Are there any known problems with the server or can someone please explain possible troubleshooting?

PS: I might add that the Software Upgrade from QuickTime Pro 7.0.2 to 7.1.3 - for which I bought the upgrade - is also not working (although I doubt that has anything to do with the iTune Store Server)

On 25th I got the following mail from iTMS:

location of file is on wrong drive. Says F drive, but really on C after downloading. Then it says missing file and then I cannot reconnect.

Have you gotten into Computer/Manage/Disk Management to explore the drives set up fuller?
I have 64 bit Windows 7 and 8.1 computers, no Windows 32 bit. But, I am assuming that the route to the Disk Management is the same as I have indicated. What exactly is the problem when you go to access the drives information in Disk Management. No response to clicking on Disk Management to open the view or something else?
Let us back up a bit....
1. Before connecting camera to computer, you go to Computer and view the computer's drives there - what do you see - under Hard Disk Drives and Devices with Removable Storage? Just C and F? After you make a USB connection between the camera and the computer, what do you see in Computer for the drives C and F or C, F, and something else?

The camera is connected to the computer and to that Photo Downloader dialog via a USB connection.
When you do that, the camera folder should be represented as a removable disc in Computer with a Windows determined/assigned drive
letter. And, if you use the Premiere Elements/....../Photo Downloader dialog route, that drive letter should be available to you in the Source field of
the Photo Downloader dialog.
What I am suspecting is the following - when you made the camera computer USB connection, Windows gave the letter F to that Camera Folder and bumped it off the mirrored F drive, perhaps giving it another letter.
So please let us get into Disk Management. What goes unexplained with this theory is how you can save the import to F drive if the Save In of the Photo Downloader is set to a C location.

SB Live! 5.1 Digital causing problems and bad performance , maybe wrong drive

SB0220which I own since 2003 and my System iswinXP Media Center Edition?, msi KT4Ultra Mainboard and an athlonXP2000+ , GB ddr ram and a Radeon9800Pro with usb keyboard & mouse?I've searched this forum and those threads above the thread-list but it didn't help me out. I am concerning about the recent performance of my pc , especially when it comes to sounds in games. At?"Counterstrike .5" my pc hangs for about half a second or less if I use those "radio commands" like Go-Go-Go or Need-Backup, sometimes if other players use them. Sometimes it does those stupid things like?described below.At "Mercedes Benz World Racing" I recognized that if I hit a Sign or sth else that won't move, it plays a loud sound, as everyone can expect if u hit those things. From that on i can't control my car anymore, well, in fact I am able to, but the controls I?do with my keyboard are ... i would say "buffered" and "doubled" ---- Hit the sign -> immediately
or after that press back to reverse -> car dri'ves about 00-200 meters back, other controls I?do are added after that with delay of each about 2-3 seconds and can't be stopped. I turned down the volume of those sounds and it worked a while, but I am not allowed to increase volume of my pc, else it will go like that again. It results in minimal to zero global sound at this game... My Windows is about 4 months old and I cant find drivers for my soundcard. I've installed the drivers from my creative-cd that came together with my soundblaster. I have downloaded a few driver packages from the creative homepage in earlier times but it is always a try-and-cry to get the proper drivers installed. And?I cant remember which?I had installed?years before. That's my current?c:\windows\system32\drivers\ctaud2k.sys (5.2.0.0252-.3.020, 87,92 KB (837.548 Bytes), 27.09.2007 02:3)?I am not sure which driver?I have installed, but I don't want to?do testing anymore, aswell as searching the creative website like I did several times before, sorry, but it does make me really really really mad and angry.One driver doesn't provide the real bass and the other let's my cthelper use 99% usage, all others are not compatible to my card. Those problems occured the first time for about year or later. At the moment there are no IRQ-conflicts. Please tell me whats wrong here or help me find the right driver.

I have been having the same trouble since I upgraded to XP about three years ago.
Now I have a new system and like you said I want to dedicate this older mechine to being a media pc and started looking into things again.
I wanted to update drivers and see that I missed an update in July of 03 or I could use a new patch but my drivers are from march of 03 and I can't find the other update.
Come on SB where is the support we pay a premium to get.

that is a known problem. Anyone else know how to resolve this without going to the Apple store?
