Store news claimed to be bought by someone else?

Hi, i constatly have the application 'Store News' claiming that it has an update but i can't do it. It just won't load.
When i go on to the app's page, it has 'Install' so i click it (it's not already on my computer but was at one point) and it says to enter the password for a different apple account then mine?
I try to enter my own details and it says an error has occured.
I'm really confused as to why this is.

Do you find that if you are tapping on certain areas of the touchscreen, that it selects something else instead or doesn't register your touch, or the screen jerks? What I'm looking for is false touches, because the touch panel on your display sounds like it is malfunctioning.
The best thing to do would be make a Genius Bar reservation at your nearest Apple Store and take it in for service.

Hi Tim, your problem sounds a bit different, if you're not getting the wrong Apple ID thing, it may get more help to post a new query of your own.

That's because the Mac, OS X and the iLife apps that came preinstalled on the Mac all belong to the previous owner. The previous owner needs to call Apple care and have their Apple ID disassociated from the Mac. Then the hard drive needs to be totally erased and OS X and the iLife apps reinstalled using OS X Recovery.

  • App Store wants me to sign in as someone else?

I'm using a pre-owned computer, but with no identity problems until now: I restarted my computer and when I opened App Store later and tried to update a couple apps, it required me to sign in with the Apple ID of the previous owner. Strangely, I've gone to Store:Sign In/Sign Out several times with my own ID, and up there it says I'm signed in, but when I press "Update" next to the app that needs updating, it still asks me for the Apple ID that's not mine. (Btw, in that pop-up window, the Apple ID box with [email protected] in it, is greyed out so I can't change it; otherwise I would change it to my own.) I'm having no troubles with my ID on iTunes, so I don't know what the deal is.
Why I restarted my computer in the first place: I downloaded the OS X Mavericks update and it restarted my computer. ...When I was logging back in, it asked me to sign in with my Apple ID, and I did. No problems there...
    Please help.

The original owner was supposed to erase the hard drive and restore the version of OS X that shipped on the Mac. That Mac is associated with the original owner's Apple ID. All apps that were bought by the original owner are now pirated software on your part as the original owner cannot legally share them with you.
The original owner needs to call Apple Care and have the Mac disassociated from their Apple ID.
You need to use OS X Recovery to erase the Mac, reinstall OS X Mavericks and the iLife apps.
Then you need to set it up as a new Mac, open the Mac App Store and accept the iLife apps into your account and then reinstall all of your own iTunes and Mac App Store content.

  • Hi kids, my first day using apple, anyway, is a Power Book 4.1 , bought from someone else, and i dont have the password for the key chain, and no chances of getting it, the screen, for the password keeps on coming up, any ideas?

my  first day using apple, i love it, is a power 4.1, older, but is ok to learn it, however, i bought it from someone , and i was not
given the password for key chain, so, this screen keeps on coming up, and i dont know the password, so i keep on canceling out
of it, ..... any ideas on how to fix this problem, is the key chain, that you can access through utilities, but i dont have the old password, that is my first
    problem
my second problem is that the key board, closer to the screen, is coming out, as it needs to be put in place, you would imagine you can
put it back in place, but, not sure i should mess with it, any input would be greatly appreciated it
    thank you
    lisa

Hi, Lisa. Now I see what you're desperate about.
Does it allow you to go ahead and use the iBook after you cancel the Keychain login? If so, it's not a big deal.
Are you able to go to System Preferences > Accounts and create a new account for yourself? That should eliminate Keychain password problems.
Check out these instructions on replacing the keyboard:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=111917
Maybe they will help you get it seated better. It's considered a customer-installable part, so it should be easy enough for you to handle without worrying about goofing anything up.
What CDs (if any) came with the iBook?
Which version of the operating system is it running?
How big is the hard drive and how much space remains available on it? If it's the original hard drive, it's getting very old and could fail at any time. The identifier "PowerBook 4,1" tells me that the iBook is ten years old, and is either a 500 or 600 MHz PowerPC G3 (Dual USB) iBook. As such, you can't expect a whole lot from it.
The optical drive on this iBook could be a CD-ROM (reads CDs only), CD-RW (reads and writes CDs; no DVD capability), DVD (reads CDs and DVDs), or Combo (reads and writes CDs; reads DVDs) drive.
    Good luck with it.

  • Asking for Apple ID password bought from someone else...

I just bought an Iphone off a mate of mine but they already have an icloud account on there. Each time i go to install an app and music from app store it asks for password of the previous user, is there any way of disabling this so that I can use my account for things??

Settings > iTunes & App Stores
Sign out of the former users's account and sign into your own. Note that if there are any apps or other content left that were purchased by the former owner, it will still prompt you for that user's account for updates. I'd suggest restoring the iPhone to factory settings:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
so that you can start completely fresh with your own account, apps, etc.

  • Apps don't work when bought by someone else?

My son bought me two apps for my iPhone 3G when I first got it, ie from his own iTunes account. When I began buying my own apps, with my own account, the ones he'd bought me ceased to work. I bought them again myself and they still don't work. That's a real bore as they were apps I needed. Any way round this??

I am not sure if they are bought by another account active on a different iPhone, but I have two separate accounts, one for Spain and one U.S. in iTunes, and I buy and download with either without problems. Only have to make sure I sign in with the appropiate one on iTunes for updates.

  • How do I reset an ipod i bought from someone else?

I bouth an ipod from my friend. He doesn't know the restriction passcode and I just want to completely reset it.

    Force iPod into Recovery Mode
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.

  • How would someone else's notes be shared on my iPad when they are not synced with my device?

    Hi -
I have a brand-new iPad and am suddenly getting someone else's notes showing up on my computer. It is coming from my daughter's phone, I believe. Our accounts and computers are in no way connected. The strange thing is that the notes are from 2011 and 2012. I don't know if she has more current ones than that.
Can anyone tell me how this might happen? And how to make it stop?
    Thanks very much!

    Thanks, FromSouth -
I called Apple Support and they also said that she has to have access to my iCloud account. We did figure out that some of the notes from 2011 and 2012 are from a shared business account which also allows notes, but that is a Verizon account and should not impact, in any way, shape, or form, the iCloud account.
I do not believe my daughter actually did this; I am guessing that her iCloud account was also accessed by her husband (who is not a good guy), and he, without her knowledge, synced her iCloud to his iPhone to track all her stuff. I then believe he got hold of mine and did the same a couple of days ago, as we are all together for a large family vacation (in the same house).
I guess I have a couple more questions about this, though:
Normally, when you sync a new device with your account, you get a message on all your old devices - but I did not get anything of the kind. How would this be possible? I guess maybe if he synced it while standing there with my iPad, then my iPad would get an alert, and he would just turn it off?? (I know all this sounds excessive, but believe me, he'd go to this length.)
I find it difficult to believe that he could have cracked my iCloud password - it's not something that anyone would ever put together easily. How would he be able to access the account without a password? Is there any kind of app or software that he could have installed on my iPad that would allow that? (Again, believe me, he'd do it.)
Is there any way to see in iCloud what devices are linked to the account? That alone would show me what device has this.
Finally, I have my iPad password-protected, so I cannot imagine he would have gotten into my iPad in the first place...how would he have gained access to this otherwise? I really thought I was being very smart on how I set this all up, and two days in the same location as him and now this....
I really thank you for any help you can give me on this one...
    Thanks!

  • Someone else bought an app on the store. I had already purchased the app before on my other computer, so I deleted the app on my new computer that the other person purchased. I now want to download the app again on MY account but...........

Someone else bought an app on the store on my new computer. I had already purchased the app before on my old computer, so I deleted the app on my new computer that the other person purchased. I now want to download the app again through MY account. When I click INSTALL it asks for ID, but it shows up automatically with the other person's ID, so I delete that and enter mine instead. I then click SIGN IN, but then it says "Unknown error", then I click OK, then it says "We could not complete your request. There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (4)". How do I get rid of all info of other people's IDs so I can get the app through my account again?
The app that I'm trying to download actually might have been a pirated app. But I deleted it, so why is it not letting me get it through my account?
    Please help!

  • After a reboot my iPhone 6 Plus now has someone else's Apple ID as the login??? I bought the phone 3 months ago brand new!

    The title says it all.
    Some background info:
    1. I purchased the iPhone 6 Plus new in the box at Target on January 10 2015.  The phone has only ever been mine, and it was not a refurbished device.
    2. Absolutely no one else has access to my PC or iTunes, whether it be physical access or knowing my usernames or passwords.
    What happened;
    1. Phone fell out of my hand face down on my patio.  It had the leather Apple case on it.  Picked it up and sure enough the entire front screen was smashed.
    2. Phone responds to touch, but not property.  I contemplate doing a backup and then resetting but I skip that and just do a "erase all content and settings"
    3. Phone reboots and prompts me for this Apple ID (x*****@1*****.com) to log in.
    4. That is NOT my Apple ID, not even close
    5. I have no idea how the strange Apple ID is now embedded in MY phone, I have absolutely no way to access my own phone!
    What I have done:
    1. Called and spoke to several Apple reps; technical, Apple care, customer service, and then finally a senior supervisor named Matt.
    2. Matt spent over an hour on the phone with me discussing this and he decided I should email him my proof of purchase directly through an Apple link that he emailed me.
    3. I scanned every document I had with the receipt, paperwork, IMEI info and sent it over. He reviewed and says he will have to put in a request to do a force unlock which will remove the strange Apple ID and allow me back in
    4. I set up an appointment at the nearest Apple Store to fix the phone. They do not know of the Apple ID issue and I was told they wouldn't be equipped to handle that anyway until the phone would be able to be unlocked.
    5. So now I have to wait for Apple to force unlock my phone before (hopefully) my appointment on Tuesday so I can get in to it and they can fix it
Now from all the people I have talked to and all the Googling I have done I have found no reference to this happening to anyone ever.  The only related incidents like mine is if someone bought the phone through another consumer or sold it online and did not wipe their ID properly.  This however doesnt apply to me since I bought it from Target, unless they sold me some second hand phone.
Any opinions or insights on what it is that has actually happened to my phone from the time it broke and rebooted to magically having someone else's Apple ID as the authentication?
I really hope someone here has some insight.
    Thank you.

The answer is very simple: You were not the original owner of the phone. Target sold you a phone that had been returned. You can verify the date of the original sale here: Apple - Support - Check Your Service and Support Coverage. I suspect you will find that the warranty expiration date is not one year from the date that you bought it.

The new machine has Mavericks which is fine. And I will leave it as is. I don’t want anything from my old machine other than 2 apps that I will need on the new one. I want to be able to install those apps that I bought from the App Store onto my new computer. I assume Apple doesn’t want me to have the apps installed on 2 machines at the same time so I wonder if just uninstalling them from my old machine will release them for re-install on the new one.
