Store Openings on West Coast for Midnight Release Events?

Hello,
Was last week's 9PM PST release for COD:AW an anomaly or is BB now doing midnight release based on 9PM PST/12PM EST schedule?
Basically I want to know if I'll be able to go get my pre-order of Assassins Creed Unity at my store in Culver City (which isn't participating in the midnight launch) since BB closes at 10PM PST or if I won't be able to get it until 11/11.

Kst8no1 is correct here: last week's staggered midnight opening events were specific to Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare due to its Day Zero promotion. There's always a possibility other developers may choose to follow suit the future though, so the best advice we can give would be to keep an eye on our midnight opening announcements on BestBuy.com for updates.

    I was just looking at the midnight release stores for destiny, and my store is unfortunately not one of the midnight openings. Since I pre-ordered the ghost edition, I have no way of changing my pick-up store. Is there any possible way to add my store to the midnight openings?     While many Best Buy stores are able to accommodate a midnight release for a title such as Destiny, there are some stores that aren’t participating for a variety of reasons. Unfortunately, we don’t have the ability to influence which stores will be participating. However, the store lists are always subject to change, so I’d suggest keeping an eye on the Destiny page on BestBuy.com for any changes!

    Thanks for your post about some midnight releases in Q1. Is there a title in particular that you're thinking about? I can see if I can dig up some information. Notable titles that come to mind are Mass Effect 3, Twisted Metal and Max Payne on console. A lot of times, that information isn't available until closer to release day so titles released later in the quarter might not have midnight releases set up.

  • Skyrim Midnight Release?

    I asked my local Best Buy (Northglenn, CO) if they were having a midnight release and they said they wouldn't know until 2 weeks prior.  Is this accurate?  I'm trying to find where to pre-order from based on being able to pick it up at Midnight... yet I'd have to wait another week and a half or so to know for sure?  I'm currently debating between Best Buy, Gamestop or Wal-Mart (which is open 24h anyway) for picking up the game.

    Seriously, I second this idea... also in the MD region, but I think it'd be a great feature for Best Buy to post lists of stores where they're holding a midnight release for major new titles... particularly since it seems fewer Best Buy stores do this than some of the "gaming competitors" (e.g., Gamestop, who I've gone to in the past for midnight releases, but I'm kind of over giving them my business after a ridiculous hard-sell by their manager to save $5 by buying a game used... I don't feel like I should need to get into an argument in order to buy the merchandise I walked to the counter with.) Anyway, I'll start making phone calls after work today, but a post (or web site) listing Best Buy stores holding midnight releases would be awesome.

I know of no other confirmed midnight release promotional items at this time. I would suggest stopping by our midnight release event in your area or asking if the local store managers will divulge this top secret information!

  • Modern Warfare 2 Midnight Release Question.

    Alright so im planning to hit the Midnight Release of modern warfare 2.
    I get off work at 12:00 am exactly and it takes me 30 minutes to get to the best buy.
    How late will best buy be open for this? and will they have enough copies if im not able to make it?
    If im not able to make it for the midnight release will they have copiers later on in the day?
    I have not preordered, will that affect anything at all?

    they usually stay open for an hour for midnight release you dont have to have a preorder to get a game...they should have plenty of extra copies tonight and tomorrow

  • How to detect a mouse release event?

    AE SDK provides events for mouse click and mouse drag over effect plugin custom UIs, however there does not seem to be events for mouse release events.
    Are we supposed to keep ourselves an internal track of the mouse status? In that case, do we need to use OS-specific functions? Or is there a more clever way to do it?

    Yes, I set send_drag during the DoClick event callback, like they do in the SDK samples.
    Anyway, for the time being I found that using OS-specific functions (for example GetAsyncKeyState for Windows) does the job.

    I was looking in the best buy ads and saw that there was no ad about Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword. I was wondering if anyone happens to know if there will be a midnight release for all of the stores, or just select stores. Thank you in advance.

    I looked into this and it does not look like we are doing a midnight release for Zelda. The game comes out on 11/20 so I recommend heading to the store when they open. I hope this helps!

  • Midnight Release for BF3 but not MW3?

    Just checked my local store events tab and it show a midnight release for Battlefield 3 but nothing for MW3...I would think if they are doing BF3 they surley would do MW3...for what its worth there was nothing on there for last nights Batman so must not have done it.
    I would like to no as i preordered the MW3 Hardened Edition for in store pickup in hopes of midnight release but can go to wal-mart if i have too.,

    They might not be doing a release for both of those titles as they pick which titles they want to stay open late for in advance.  You could give them a call or double check on your next visit as it might not have been updated quite yet on their website given that MW3 is still 3 weeks out.

  • Midnight releases for fall 2009

    Any word on midnight releases for any of the games coming out in the next few months? I guess I'm asking specifically about Modern Warfare 2.  I would love to get this at BB but will probably have to go to game'stop' if BB isn't doing a midnight release.  I already checked the webpage below and nothing is currently listed.  Thanks!

  • Midnight release for Modern Warfare 3?

    Got this flyer from my local BB regarding their midnight release for call of duty modern warfare 3 & it says
    "all customers receive AT LEAST a $5 giftcard with every COD:MW3 purchase OR a $20 off w/approval of our Reward Zone Credit Card"
    1-Does this mean there's a way to get more than the $5 giftcard for a MW3 purchase?
    2-Is this the same offer that's avail. for all the stores doing the midnight release for MW3?

    If your local store is giving away a $5 gift card with Modern Warfare 3, that would be an individual store promotion. We do not have an offer like that in place for other stores. It is true about getting $20 off with the approval of a Reward Zone credit card, but I have not heard of the $5 gift card.

  • FIOS not good ISP for gaming in North East, bad routing to canada and west coast.

    Here is a past MWO thread started at the same time by a verizon customer.   I believe almost all of thise users have quit fios or quit MWO.

    Many people in the game believe its due to MWO patches,  but I think thats just a placebo.  I believe it is to do with the cold winter months and verizon not being able to handle the load.    Speedtests to any west coast, specifically vancouver server,  have the same results.
    I have called verizon, gone to live chat, spoken to many different supervisors and technicians and have gotten no help with this issue.  They basically tell me its not their problem.
    After doing many traceroutes and speedtests.   It appears I am  getting routed through europe to get to canada from NY, which just doesn't make any common sense. First verizon claims the link router sending us to europe is not owned by them. Then we have to prove to them that it in fact is with public business records and WHOIS reports. Which also seemed to be the case for others in that thread back in january.
    IT seems the issue in january might of been that particular router was geting overloaded  they might have fixed the circuit on that verizon link/border router in question. But now it seems the issue has been passed up the line to the next link router and now that next circuit up the line  is getting congested.

    Going from 20 ping to 100 depending on time of day,  which seems to 24 hours a day now!   is a real tease and frustrating, and when there is packet loss or excessive spikes, thats when we lose the connection,  session lost messages,  black screen issue...etc...
    When reading that past thread,  The problem server back in january was tinet-gw.customer.alter.net [152.179.72.122]  (the one that routes us through europ)   but now it seems the burden has been passed up the chain to the next link/border router and circuit   internap-gw.ip4.tinet.net [77.67.70.94].
    Maybe the guys back in january were able to pressure verizon to increase bandwidth on the tinet circuit on tha verizon router in NY because they actually owned that server,  even though they originally tried to lie and claim they didn't.  Even if not part of FIOS,  and after the 6th hop.    Its obvious it was theirs cause it ends with alter.net,  was right here in NYC,    WHOIS reports gave verizons email,  and business records show they bought it in 2006.
    Fios doesn't contact DSL,  residential doesn't contact business...etc..  Its like this company doesn't remember how 9/11 happened!!!
    BUt Now the burden is on the the next link router  which routes to internap.  And that is a german server and part of tinet.net and is a different company that verizon does not have direct access to.    Verizon would not even email  the admin for me,  which many feel is unprofessional.  
    You can try emailing that admin yourself or doing some trace routes your self and calling and pressuring verizon to address the issue themselves.    
    It seems verizon fios can't handle routing people to canada,  especially in the cold months of the year.  They must not be able to handle their load.   It seems verizon fios is really a scam,  and fiber optics is just a pretty name,  but in reality is no different then any other network,  except locally.    The only difference we need to look at when buying bandwidth,  is pricing period.  The fact it is fiber optics means diddly squat!  And the more people that get fios,  i predict the worse their network is going to get.
       I have sent an email to the admin of that german server  {edited for privacy}  but I would be shocked if I got any reply.  Ridiculous for verizon to suggest I do that in the first place.
    People with timer warner in the same area  are getting constant 20-40 ping to MWO,  while verizon fios customers are getting terrible connections right now.

    What you are seeing here has nothing at all to do with what your speed is. Latency has nothing to do with speed, it has to do with distance and network congestion. Your local ISP, no matter who it is, can not directly affect how another company (in your case Internap Network Services Corporation) routes data. Now if there was a problem in a link directly connected to your local ISP, for example:

    The above link is leaving Verizon local control and entering Alter.Net control, if there was latency on a regular basis there then this should be reported to Verizon as your local ISP and that will filter up to their NOC group who will contact Alter.net and figure out the issue with that link. If the issue is a faulty link it will get fixed, if the issue is a link undergoing to much traffic its ability to handle the traffic will either be increased where possible or routed around where possible. The whole issue of peer-to-peer networking is very complex (which is what the Supreme Court was reviewing by the way) and a number of issues come into play. If the connection point only experiences high traffic sometimes on a very limited basis then generally routing some traffic to different connections is what is done.
    Now in your later postes you show the following:

    That clearly shows the problem is inside the tinet.net (Internap Network Services Corporation) network. This network is also the network providing the link into this game server. What does this tell us? From what you are seeing it tells us that either Internap does not have enough bandwidth to server the amount of traffic down to this server or the game company has not purchased a high enough link. The latter is unlikely. Most likely the issue is that Verizon's Fios product is growing with more and more people are trying to reach that game from the Fios network. This causes issues at the link point, which Verizon apparently has taken steps to fix as well as those internal links going down to the game servers. Now your local ISP (Verizon) cannot help the latter half of that. One can hope the end user ISP (in your case Internap Network Services Corporation) will increase their internal bandwidth or router traffic around problem areas.

    You have Time Zone support turned on. 4 AM on the west coast IS 7 AM where you were.  You need to specify the time zone for the appointment if it is different from the one you're in when you create it.
