Storedge 3500 FC in DAS mode: How to reprovision for LUN

Hi All,
Please help. I have a solaris 9 system directly attached to storedge 3500. I have to reinstall the entire system from the scratch excluding storedge. Kindly suggest how to disconnect storedge from the server so that the data on storedge remains safe. As well as how to attach the same after i install solaris 10 again. What data regading storedge LUNs etc needs to be backed up. Pls help.

You would follow normal procedures for ending I/O to the LUNs in question, assure that the file systems have sync'd, then umount the LUNs. The configuration of the array will not be affected by the O/S upgrade. Once you've completed the upgrade you can reconnect to the array and the LUNs will be presented to the O/S. There could be a difference in the device paths depending on the old vs. new HBA drivers. If the old drivers were sd drivers then I expect you will in fact see a difference as Solaris 10 utilizes the ssd drivers by default. This will change the CxTxDx path to the LUNs but your data will remain intact. From here you would create the necessary mount points and then mount the array devices.
As always, the usual disclaimers would apply that it is always a good idea to perform a complete back up of your data before engaging in any major upgrade.
