Storedge L25 Drive firmware

I have two L25 tape libraries connected by a hardware shuttle. After a drive in the top deck was replaced the backups have become painfully slow on the other 3 drives, and I suspect there is a firmware miss-match. Where can I get the most up to date drive firmware?
Thnaks in advance.

Have you searched SunSolve ?

  • 500GB 7200RPM HD - Can't install "Hard Drive Firmware Update 2.0"

I installed a 500 GB - 7200 RPM HD and put a fresh install of 10.5.8 and am having the issues described in:
    http://www.macrumors.com/2009/08/19/apple-releases-fix-for-macbook-pro-hard-driv e-issues/
The main issue is the periodic freezing. About every 20 minutes (sometimes as often as every 5 min) my computer completely freezes. I get the beach ball and the freezing lasts for anywhere from 10 seconds to a minute. My mouse usually responds, but I am unable to perform any task.
I downloaded the Hard Drive Firmware Update 2.0 ( http://support.apple.com/downloads/HardDrive_Firmware_Update_20 ) which looks like it would fix the problem, but when I try to install it - I immediately get an alert of "This computer does not need this update."
I'm guessing that the update checks for a Macbook Pro (which the model I have was later renamed to) - but my computer is reporting itself as a Macbook - so the update doesn't think my computer needs the update.
Has anyone had the same issue - and if so, is there any way I can install this update?

If your hard drive came with its own anti-shock protection, as, for example, Western Digital drives do, then it may well be interfering with Apple's SMS motion-protection system.
More information about the SMS here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1934
If you disable the SMS and the freezes stop, then you know that was the culprit.

  • Driver/firmware for ethernet port??

I recently got rid of my PC (YAY!!!), meaning I no longer need my cheap crappy wireless router. However, when I hook my Ethernet cable up to the port in my PB, I can not connect to the web. I'd like to try reinstalling the necessary driver/firmware, as doing so recently solved my non-working USB ports problem, but I don't know where to find the driver... Can anybody post a link to a site where I can download a driver? Or perhaps have a better way to connect?
(I understand that what I am looking for is probably under my nose, but I'm not computer savvy enough to know what terms to search for.... heh..)

  • How to update Seagate hard drive firmware from DVD drive in G4 Powermac DA

Posted earlier in wrong forum. Apologies if you see this twice.
    Short version of story:
Just put Sonnet PCI SATA card in G4 Digital Audio Powermac running Tiger. Have replaced two IDE drives with Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 1 TB hard drive. It's recognized and working fine. EXCEPT: this is the now infamous drive ST31000340AS that WILL most certainly fail if it does not get the firmware update that Seagate has made available. (These drives are failing like crazy-- Google for info, do not buy!) I have the firmware update on CD as an ISO file (of course Seagate makes nothing that it Mac friendly but this has worked for other Mac users). But when I try to flash the firmware by starting from the CD ("C" key held down), nothing happens. The G4 just goes ahead and starts Tiger 10.4.11. I have also tried holding down "O + F + option + control on start up. I'm not getting anywhere.
Since the drive is functional and it's the only drive in the G4, what am I doing wrong? Help!

This is dated January 21st, so I hope it's been updated...

  • Hard Drive Firmware, Diagnostics & Breaking In

    Hi,
Long time reader, first time poster. I've learned so much from these forums, thank you all for participating.
I'm planning to build a new RAID array for data storage, but will also use it as a secondary location for system backups. Before my questions, here's what I'm planning:
    1) eSATA ExpressCard/34 using the Silicon Image 3132 chip.
    2) RAID array with Port Multiplier and Hardware RAID controller (Silicon Image 4726 chip).
    3) Western Digital WD5000YS drives, 500GB a pop.
    Ok, so my questions:
    1) I understand WD had a firmware issue with their drives back in January and issued a firmware update. If the drives I receive have the old firmware, is it possible for me to flash the new firmware onto these drives using Windows running via Parallels on my MBP? If not, what other way(s) could it be done? I don't have a Windows computer anymore.
    2) I've read that it can be a good idea to zero your drives when you receive them new, and that a decent break-in regime and testing is also a good idea, before putting any real data on the new drives. Any software recommendations in this regard? I've heard that zeroing a drive via Disk Utility can be a little time consuming; any other options?
    3) Lastly, has anyone had any experience running a Sil-4726 RAID controller (with the Silicon Image application software) on OSX? Any feedback?
    Thanks alot for your input!

    i have GT70 2OD-019US
i tried to update my graphic card driver from  http://www.msi.com/product/nb/GT70-2OD.html#download
it didnt work it said not compatiable
im using latest beta driver from nvidia webiste
you guys have right stuff on the website
there is so much variation i didnt see GT70 2OD-019US link so i guess i could use downloads from GT70 20D
    maybe im wrong
download was hard to find and stuff not working
    support sucks

im confused just as you are.
I like to keep my stuff updated to the latest so i went to nvidia website
download the driver for geforce gtx 780m
i tried to install the driver but it wont let me install cuz it's not compatible with my card
so i went to the link above download the oem graphic card driver which im not too clear it's right one for my laptop
cuz it's doesn't say gtx 780 it says something like nvidia n14 chipset i have no idea what it mean
i installed it cuz that's all i can find for my laptop. it let me install but my geforce card doesn't work
my laptop switch over to intel graphic card and my nvidia card has red x on it under device tree
fortunately i found the latest beta nvidia work on my laptop otherwise i could ended up with non working video card
    the title
all the downloads im not sure they are right stuff for my laptop
i updated bios, firmware, and some of the driver
they are working so far i haven't found any problem with them
the graphic card driver make me think that maybe the stuff i updated might not be right for my laptop
im confused with many gt 70 series
    http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook-win8-win7-64bit-326.80-beta-driver.html
    Try that driver.
The problem with the 320.49 'release' drivers is that they don't include the proper information to work with the newer GTX7XXM video cards on MSI laptops. You need to download the latest beta drivers, as they have the proper information to work. The next release, whatever that might be, should work just fine then.
As far as the other drivers...
    http://www.msi.com/product/nb/GT70-2OC.html#download
should have all the drivers you need. You can try going to the individual manufacturer website to update them too, such as Intel for the Intel iGPU.

  • Help: Drive Firmware Melted, Nine Thousand Family Photos In Limbo

    Hi,
My name is Stu Mark and I'd like your help. If you'd like the long version, start with paragraph 2. If you'd like the short version, skip to paragraph 3.
I have a LaCie 500gig d2 hard drive. Stupidly, I kept my iPhoto Library there, after it got too big for my internal/boot drive. I've been backing up my boot drive since forever, but it never occurred to me that I should back up my back up drive, especially once I moved my iPhoto (and iTunes) Library there. Doh! So, cutting to the chase, the LaCie drive stopped working. It spins up, and lights up, and is semi-accessible via Unix, but doesn't appear on any Mac drive utility. And when I access it via Unix, I can see it, but it only shows one directory is there, compared with the eight or ten that it should contain. My guess is that, because the drive is accessible, and that this all started when the drive started booting slower and I attempted to update the firmware and it possible downgraded instead of upgraded. All of this is documented better here, on my blog:
    http://stunewsandphotos.blogspot.com/2007/01/first-part-sad-story.html
    http://stunewsandphotos.blogspot.com/2007/01/no-dice.html
    http://stunewsandphotos.blogspot.com/2007/01/letter-for-geeks.html
The short version is this: Above are links to my blog that explain in detail how I attempted to upgrade my LaCie external 500gig d2 drive's firmware and, instead, probably downgraded. The drive no longer is visible to the OS X system, although the Unix system sees it, sort-of. I have no back-up of this drive, which was my backup for my system. My system/boot drive still works great, but, my dumb brain moved the iTunes and iPhoto libraries to the backup drive, the LaCie. So now, about 9,000 family photos are in limbo, on this unaccessible disk. I understand there are data recovery specialists, but after doing a serious bit of investigation, it's quite possible that, if I could reinstall the firmware for the LaCie, I'd be golden. Again, all of this is detailed at the above blog entries.
If you would please take a moment to either comment or pass this on to anyone you know, I'd really love some other opinions. Yes, I know, I should have seen this coming. Yes, it's my fault, I'm a dunderhead. But I'm also a husband and father who has lost thousands of pictures of my family growing up over the past few years. Please, have a heart, pass this on, see if you know anyone who might be able to lend a hand.
Thanks to everyone for their kind wishes,
    Stu Mark

  • Sun StorEdge L25

Our company have a SunToreEdge L25 tape library, it works normal for 4 years. It contains two HP Ultrium1 SCSI tape drives.
    I found some problem recently.
    1. The robot can not hold the tape when tape eject the tape. I can see the robot try to hold the tape from tape drive though the window of L25, after fail to hold tape several times, the L25 report a error message, the error code is 26C0, I check the guide, it said: Drive 1 has not responded to multiple requests to unload.
But it does not occur every time. Sometimes, it is no problem. If I disable this tape drive, another drive does not have this kind of problems.
I think I do not need to buy new tape drive, because the problem does not occur always.
    2. The power supply unit have three lights, both smaller lights is green, but the bigger one is in red, a warning message on screen, "PSU fail". Whether I need to change a new power supply unit?
    Thanks.

    Hello Prashant,
It returned only the four internal SCSI drives and couldn't seem to find the tape library.
maybe I have mis-read your post. Are the four internal drives the disk drives inside the V240 and the L25 isn't detected ? This misunderstanding might be caused by the fact that the L25 supports only upto 2 tape drives (the L100 upto 5 tape drives).
Quote from the manual (L25-L100_install_guide, page 34ff):
"The library robotics and tape drives are independent SCSI devices with
independent SCSI connections. The L25 and L100 provide two 68-pin
high density connectors for each device. You can connect these devices
to a single SCSI bus or divide them between two or more SCSI buses."
You have to review the cabling on the back of the L25 and the GUI configuration menu.
Unfortunately you didn't tell what type of drives (DLT8000, LTO, SDLT) are installed and how the L25 is attached.
Some drives require a HVD SCSI hba while other require a LVD SCSI hba. The installation guide mentions only HVD SCSI, but the Full Components List lists LVD SCSI adapters as valid choices (depending on the drive types installed!) too.
HVD SCSI and LVD/SE aren't compatible.
The LVD SCSI hba requires installation of some Solaris packages (the drivers aren't included with Solaris, but are on a CD that is supplied with the hba).
Maybe someone else is able to assist you after you provided the missing information. I have no hands-on experience with the L25/L100, it's just from reviewing the manuals and the Sun System Handbook.

  • Restoring my MBP optical drive firmware

Hello. I had mistakenly used Nero Drive Speed in Bootcamp's Windows XP to change the speed of my optical drive upon the advice of someone on another forum, but this has ruined my drive's firmware. Here is a link to a photo of the original specs of my firmware: http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd225/KellySt10/infomymacdvddrive.png
and the drive's firmware specs after using Nero Drive Speed: http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd225/KellySt10/specsofmyopticaldrive.png
How can I restore my drive's firmware to the way it was originally?
    Thanks in advance.
PS This is a brand-new MBP, ordered after the WWDC expo in June (actually ordered it July 7, 2009) of 2009. My family is upset after I told them that I might have to replace the drive, and I'm upset with myself.
    Message was edited by: K515

Apple provides firmware restoration CD images for Intel machines (search Support), but it is a machine restore, and I don't know what that does specifically (if anything) about the DVD firmware. The DVD's have their own onboard firmware (RPC-2, as they encode/enforce region information at the drive level, not the system level), and it has been years since firmware images (or hacked versions thereof) have been available (MPAA and others took care of that).
Only suggestion I have is to call AppleCare and ask them. You can bring your machine in to an Apple Store for a system firmware restore, so perhaps they can also do that for the DVD (or point you to the appropriate resource on the Support web site to do it yourself).

  • Solaris 5.9 - Determine HBA model/driver/firmware information

    Hi,
I've been given a couple of Solaris 5.9 servers and asked to determine the make, model, firmware and driver of HBA that is installed.
After doing some research on the net, I found commands such as 'luxadm'/'cfgadm' etc, yet cannot extract the necessary information.
Can anyone advise on the basic commands that could help me?
    Thanks in advance
    Mike

I'm still struggling to get the brand, model and firmware of HBAs from the servers.
Can you give any further advice please?
I've managed to extract very basic information such as brand and model from v5.10 servers using 'fcinfo hba-port', but not the firmware revision.
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • StorageTek - does drive firmware matter?

    Good Day,
I am supporting a field of many StorageTek 5320 NAS units. We've had a few drives fail, and the newer drives have different firmware listed in the lsi_menu disk output. I don't think this is a problem, but just want to confirm. As long as they are the same drive type (i.e. fibre or sata) and speed, it should not be a problem, correct?
Thank you in advance for the information!

if you have any sort of paid support, they can answer the question... otherwise, you will maybe get something here or you will just have to try it...
as always, this is peer to peer... not paid help.

  • Wrongly flashed TSST TS-L633M DVDRW drive firmware Compaq Model:CQ-504AU

Before the drive was accidenly flashed it function normally but after last time I have accidently open a DVD drive flashing program and flashed the dvd drive stated above and then the program restart the computer.
After restart, the computer still can see the drive but it cannot read or write any dvd and cd disc from it. Is the anyway that can make it into usable state again? I know this cause by wrong firmware flashed into the dvd drive rom memory.
I mean flash it with a new flash program? If so can somene give the link to that firmware? I dont want to replace the drive only because of firmware error. I search all over the internet but useless.
If I am not mistaken the firmware version before accidenly flashed it was something lke version 0020.
The samsungodd.com had firmware for it with version SC00, SC01 but incompatable with it. Other than version SC00, SC02 are welcome to post here.
Please someone reply as soon as possible. It is very important to me. thank you.

    Introductory Material.
Here is the solution for updating TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-L633M ATA DEVICE.
There is an update for the TS-L633M from Samsung but it only has version SC01, which WILL NOT UPDATE  the HP version of TS-L633M because the HP version is 0301 with an OEM Code of HM.
However, Samsung has rebranded TS-L633M with a new ATA Device Driver that is called SN-S083M and has an update driver SC02.
The way that you update TS-L633M Code Version 0301 with OEM Code HM with the new Samsung SN-S083M Code Version SC02 is to patch the file and flash the HP TS-L633M with the patched file.
    Instructions.
IMPORTANT ----- THIS ONLY PERTAINS to those who have the HP TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-L633M ATA Device - Check the Device Manager to make sure you have this Model Number Device Driver before proceding - YOU DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. Only proceed if your product is not in warranty and do not desire to pay for another DVD drive.
Go to the following link and download the firmware SN-S083M Global Distribution SB02: http://www.samsungodd.com/eng/Firmware/FWDownload/fwdownload.asp?functionvalue=view&no=606&parent_id...    If you do not have a unzipped utility program, go to the following link and download and install 7zip that fits your computer from the following link: http://www.7-zip.org/download.html      Unzip the Firmware File using Winrar or 7zip.
Download the Samsung Standalone Flash Utility:  http://www.samsungodd.com/KorLib/File/tsdnwin.exe

                       Source of Download:  http://ala42.cdfreaks.com/MCSE/
Create a folder and name it FLASH and place the following 3 items in the folder.
                               SN-S083M_SB02.bin that you extracted
                               Samsung Standalone Flash Utility
Ala42 MCSE that you downloaded and extracted from the zip file
After placing all three objects in step 5 into the folder named FLASH, place the folder FLASH and all its contents in C-Drive.
After placing the folder FLASH in C-Drive, open the folder and RIGHT CLICK on ALA42 MediaCodeSpeedEdit.exe and RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR.
When ALA42 MediaCodeSpeedEdit.exe opens, click on the LOAD button and navigate to the FLASH folder in C-Drive and load the file SN-S083M_SB02.bin - When the file it loaded it will show all its regions.
When the SN-S083M_SB02.bin file is fully loaded, place a CHECK MARK by the RPC1 box at the lower right hand corner of ALA42 MCSE.
After putting a check mark by the box RPC1 in ALA42 MCSE, click the SAVE button on the upper right hand corner and save the file in the FLASH folder as SN-S083M_SB02_speedpatched.bin.
Now go to START > ALL PROGRAMS > ACCESSORIES > COMMAND PROMPT and right click on the Command Prompt and chose RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR to open Command Prompt in Administrator Role.
Once the command prompt opens, type the following:  CD C:\FLASH and hit the ENTER BUTTON.
After hitting the enter button, the command prompt should read FLASH.
At the FLASH Command Prompt, type the following:  tsdnwin  nocheck and hit the Enter Button to open the Samsung Stand Alone Flasher.
When the Samsung Stand Alone Flasher opens, click on the on the SEARCH Button and navigate to the file "SN-S083M_SB02_speedpatched.bin" to load it in the Samsung Flash Utility.
The "SN-S083M_SB02_speedpatched.bin" file will load and then click DOWNLOAD to begin to flash your TS-L633M ATA Device.
Wait until the flash is complete and when it finishes, it will ask you to reboot the computer and you must reboot.
When you rebott and are back at your desktop, Windows will recognize the drivers for your TS-L633M ATA Device and install the new drivers SN-S083M_SB02.
When it finishes installing your drivers, reboot the computer one more time and then you are done.
NOW ENJOY your updated CD/DVDRW Drive.
