Storing and accessing photos in iCloud

Once my photos have been backed up to iCloud from my iTouch, can I then delete them from my iPod (to free up space) and later access those deleted photos?  Also, is there a way to see what photos have been stored in iCloud and access individual photos?

- Photos taken by or saved to the iPod  (those in the Camera Roll album) are included in your iCloud backup if you backup to iCloud. You can only get to those by restoring from backup.
- Also, photos taken by or saved to the iPod are included in your PhotoStream. You can access you PhotoStream to get those as long as yo have not deleted them from your PhotoStream. See:

Use something such as OmniDiskSweeper (my favorite) or Grand Perspective to find out where large files may be. iCloud isn't going to help much if you've so much data that it won't fit on a 1TB drive. Sounds as if it's time to either buy another drive or at least an external with more space.

  • How to access photos on iCloud from an iPad I no longer own

I recently sold my iPad, but stored my photos onto my iCloud account before doing so.  How do I access those photos & its database on to my iPhone and MacBook Pro?

You can't store your photos on icloud, what is it you think you have done. if you are referring to photostream, just enable photostream on another device and any photos in photostream will be synced to that device.

  • HT4859 CAN I SEE AND ACCESS PHOTOS AND MUSIC THAT WERE BACKED UP FROM MY IPHONE, BY LOGGING ON TO MY ICLOUD ACCOUNT ON MY DESKTOP? ALL I SEE IS MAIL, CALENDAR, CONTACTS. NO PHOTOS OR MUSIC.

I have backed up my iPhone to iCloud. I have switched on the back up photos, etc. (basically everything). But, when I open iClould on my computer, and log in, the only things I see are my Contacts, iCloud email (not my other two email accounts that I use on my iPhone), iWork, Calendar, and Notes. I don't see any photos, videos, or music (all music purchased from iTunes Store). When Im logged in to iCloud on my desktop (actually, it's a MacBook), and open Settings, there really aren't that many things to 'set'. In fact, there isn't much in iCloud. Whats up?

You can't see the contents of an iCloud backup on the iCloud website.

  • How do i access photos in icloud

When giving my iPad to my daughter I backed up photos and video to iCloud. It took nearly one whole day to tansfer 5GB but now it does not appear to contain the photos and videos, just empty files of mail and contacts.
Can anyone explain the logic of this and even better how I can recover the lost pictures?
    Thanks
    Tim

You can access your photos from photo stream on any of your devices.
If you delete photos from the camera roll they aren't deleted from photo stream, if that's what you are asking.
My webpage here might help you understand the various ways photos can be saved on your device and some of the advantages and disadvantages associated with each method.

  • Accessing photos on icloud

I have a pc and backed up my ipad to icloud, but had to reset it as new.  How do I access the photos that were saved?  When I log on to icloud I don't see an option for photos.  Thanks.

Restore your iCloud backup to your iPad.  It contains photos in your camera roll; restoring the backup should recover them.

  • HT1766 Can the backup file for a IPAD be stored and accessed on an external drive?

Can the backup file for a IPAD be stored on an external drive to free up space on a computer?

There are some wireless external hard drives that can be used with the iPad.
The Kingston Wi-Drive, which costs $50 for the 16 Gigabyte, and then $30 more for every 16 gigs more. It works by you turning it on and then accessing the files on it from an app that you download on your iDevice. You can access music, movies, and other stuff. No connections or anything, it works like a WiFi connection, you connect to it from the setting on the iPad under wireless networks.
Then there is the Seagate GoFlex, which some would recommend over the Wi-Drive. But this one costs $199 and had 500 Gigabytes of storage. It works the sameway as the Kingston: no wires, runs over its wireless connection. You can actually fit up to 300 HD movies on it.

  • How to access photos in iCloud

My icloud storage is full. How do I see the photos in order to delete unwanted pics?

Photo stream photos don't count against your iCloud storage so deleting these won't help.  The only photos that use your storage plan are camera roll photos (and videos), which are included in the iCloud backup.  You can view these by looking in your camera roll on your iOS device.

  • Storing and retrieving Photos

Storage help. I have previous years photos on my external drive and have removed them from my imac drive. I would like to view my old photos but it takes for ever to import them from the external drive. Is there any better way of doing this.
    Thanks. Chris.

I'm concluding that the photos on the external drive are NOT in an iPhoto library. That being the case, you need to create a second library (on your external drive). Import them once. Afterwards, all you need to do is select that library.
Hold down the Option key while starting iPhoto. You will see a menu that allows you to either create a new library or select an existing one from a choice of as many as you have previously created. Note: If you then quit iPhoto and subsequently re-open it without the Option key, it will continue to open the most recently selected library.

  • Storing and organising Photos

I know this is an old topic, does anybody know a way that I can keep photos in the directory that I want, and use iPhoto. I do not want to import the photos into iPhoto for it to reorganise my photos into date folders. Or do I have to consider another photo package, do you know if there is one that will use the Ken Burn effect when showing the photos

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
does anybody know a way that I can keep photos in the directory that I want, and use iPhoto.
Yes. Go to iPhoto Preferences-> Advanced and unclick 'Copy Files to iPhoto Library Folder...
iPhoto will now NOT copy the files. However, be aware that iPhoto will still create a Modified and Data folder. The Modified Folder will contain any pics that you edit or change (to facilitate the Revert to Original command), the data folder will contain all the thumbnails that the app uses to display the pics in the iPhoto Window.
I do not want to import the photos into iPhoto for it to reorganise my photos into date folders.
Here's how the app organsises itself since v6, by default. In the iPhoto Library Folder there are three Folders
Originals are the photos as they were downloaded from your camera or scanner. If you choose not to copy the pics in, this folder will not be there.
(ii) Modified contains edited pics, shots that you have cropped, rotated or changed in any way.
This allows the Photos -> Revert to Original command - very useful if you don't like the changes you've made.
(iii) Data holds the thumbnails the the app needs to show you the photos in the iPhoto Window.
Is there a specific reason that you want to maintain your own folder structure? You know that you can recreate it in the iPhoto Window. Many people feel that if they do, then they will have difficulty finding pics. However this is quite straightforward:
Right-click (or control-click) on a pic. From the resulting menu you can select 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file highlighted. Other possibilities: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop and the app will make a copy of it, or go File -> Export and you get more options.
These will work regardless of whichever file system you choose.

    TD

  • Can't access photos on icloud

When I log into iCloud, there is no Photo option in the icons provided:
    Any ideas?

    Howdy Beancounter1976,
If you are missing the Photo option on icloud.com, I wonder how you have the photos setup.

If you are using iCloud Photo Sharing you would need the link to the shared album.

  • I should know, but I don't. If I upload all of my photos to iCloud and then delete them off of my iPhone (for more storage space), will they all remain in iCloud or am I missing the point of iCloud?

Right now, there is no way to upload and access photos in iCloud. You need to import them to a computer if you want to be able to retrieve them later:
