Storing flv in shared folder

Hello,
I'm trying to have it so that I don't have my flvs just on
the computer with FMS. I'd like to set up a shortcut from the
applications folder to a shared network drive. But, I'm not sure
what's the problem, but I think it has to do with setting
permissions for the folder. FMS might be blocked by a password
issue. Is it possible to have FMS look for flvs in a mapped network
drive?

I think you need to edit the vhosts.xml file to be able to
create a connection to NAS / SAN. Search for the
<VirtualDirectory> line and check the comments for a better
explanation

  • Library problems with two XP user accounts accessing music in shared folder

I'm sorry if this has already been answered; I have not been able to find the answer. My wife and I each have a different user account on the same Windows XP machine. I recently combined our iTunes libraries into the shared folder on the computer. I correctly pointed iTunes (in each of our accounts) to the correct location for the music files. I did an "Add Folder to Library" to make sure each account had all of the music. When I did this, I got duplicate listings of all of the songs that also had exclamation points. When I did a "Get Info" on these songs, I found that each song was correctly pointed to the correct file location. I laboriously deleted each "exclamation point" song one at a time (in each account). Now the problem I have is that whenever my wife or I close iTunes and the other person opens iTunes in their XP user account, none of the songs can be found. The best way I've been able to resolve this is to (unfortunately) delete the entire library, and do an "Add Folder To Library" to find all of the song locations and include all of the songs back into the library. Surely this can't be how this is supposed to work.
    So, my questions are:
    - Do I need to add new albums / songs one at a time to avoid duplicates (rather than use the "Add Folder" for the entire iTunes music folder again)?
    - How do I setup iTunes so that my wife and I can each go into iTunes in our seperate XP accounts and have all of our songs right where we left them (WITHOUT having to delete the entire libary and "add" again.)
FYI: I'm using the latest version of iTunes and (again) I'm using Windows XP.
My wife and I really want to each get a new iPod Nano, but if I can't trust iTunes... forget it.
    THANKS!!!

I have this setup at working. Two accounts with all files stored on a shared folder, mine is a network drive. Each account has its own library and can access all files. We also use one iTunes account for rare purchases.
This is how did initial setup:
Make a folder in the shared folder. I called mine itunes.
This is where iTunes stores its files.
With second account point iTunes at shared folder.
Import the folder you created earlier.
This worked for me without duplications. The only complication is that when importing from CD with one account the other doesn't know it. The other account must do import on the folder for the CD just imported. We keep track of this with a spreadsheet updated to show which account has which CD files.

  • OS X Server Permissions for Shared Folder

I'm running the latest version of OS x Server. 10.9.3 Server
File Share and Time Machine services enabled.
I have shared a folder on an external drive. called "Storage"
Some of the files can not be accessed by some users.
Is there a way just to allow all the users to have full access to every file that is stored in the shared folder?
It seems some people can open some files and some users can't.  Then I manually have to set the permissions to that file.
What am I missing?  I have selected the "Shared Folder"
everyone has Read & Write Access (Along with admin, system and wheel.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

Set up the ACL in the Storage tab of Server.app, then choose Propagate Permissions... from the popup menu with the gear icon.

  • Playing a FLV-File in a projector.exe from a network shared folder failes

We want to load and play FLV-Files while our project files

  • Office 2013 Will not open documents in a shared folder but 2007 will.

    Hi,
Recently we are testing office 2013 and have noticed a problem. When office attempts to open an Excel or Word document that is stored on a shared drive on the file server it will not open it. When you double click on the document, either word or
Excel, the appropriate Office app opens, but it opens on the start screen, i.e. the one with the templates displayed.
There are no error messages displayed , and it appears that the office app opens twice, i.e you see the splash screen with the app name on it two times in quick succession, however you cannot find two instances of the app open.
If you simply copy the document from the shared drive to the users desktop and then double click the file , the appropriate app opens and the file also opens without a problem.
Also if you go to a client machine with office 2007 loaded on it then the document on the shared drive opens without a problem at all.
The client machine with office 2013 is a Dell E7440 with windows 7 Pro 64bit.
    Thanks in advance

    I think its working now.
Here is what I had to do.
Delete Office from the machine once again, this time using the Microsoft tool to remove all remnants of the office software , then manually check the registry to see all the referenced keys had been removed.
    Reboot.
Copy all the users data to another location on the same machine.
    Delete the users profile.
    Reboot.
Reload office using the link Dell sent me.
    Reboot.
Log in as a domain admin and check that office would open the documents on the file share and it did.
    Reboot.
Log in as the user who’s profile I had deleted so that the profile was recreated.
Attempt to open documents on the file share and it was successful.
Move most of the users data back to the users folder so that his system looked the same as before.
    Reboot.
Try again to use office applications and open documents from the file share and it continued to function correctly.
Waited a day for the user to see how it went and it is still working now.
I have no idea what could have been causing this problem or why doing what I did above fixed it.
I hope the problem does not return.
Now we can move on with more testing to see its suitability to our field service engineers, remote connections and connections to our customer systems will be checked next.

  • Sharing iphoto library in Shared folder - so frustrated!

I am so frustrated trying to put the iPhoto Library in the Shared folder, in order to give all users Read & Write access. It worked for about a month, and now my wife suddenly is getting lots of permission problems. I tried making her the "owner" of the library, but that caused iPhoto to not read it at all and say the Library was 0 k in size. Once I changed ownership back to me, it was 20GB.
Certain folders inside the library give her Custom permission, so I went in and changed permission to Read/Write. Doesn't help - photos in iPhoto disappear or black out. Sometimes a folder (like a certain date) won't even show on her side at all.
This seems like such a simple thing, and something most people would want to do. Why won't this work correctly???
    Any other ideas?! Thanks!!

    have you read this article?
Sharing via the Shared Folder -- Another major annoyance with versions of iPhoto prior to iPhoto '09 was that you couldn't just put your iPhoto Library in the /Users/Shared folder to share it among multiple accounts on the same Mac, since iPhoto always set the permissions on thumbnails to the account that imported the photos, preventing other accounts from editing those photos and having the edits reflected in the thumbnails.
That limitation has now been fixed in iPhoto '09, so you can share an iPhoto library merely by moving it to /Users/Shared and then double-clicking it to open in iPhoto from each account. You may be prompted to repair permissions on the first access - click the Repair button to do that. Note that this also works for storing an iPhoto library on an external hard disk that's shared among users or on a network volume for access across a fast network.
Only one person may access a shared iPhoto library at a time.

  • Specify Remote Folder - The specified path is not a remote shared folder

I'm getting this error when I try to check a backup stored on a NAS.  When I attempt to recover from it, I pick "A backup stored on another location" then "Remote shared folder".
I put in the path: \\192.168.16.17\public\server\2014-01-24
And what I get is the above error message: "The specified path is not a remote shared folder"
The path clearly is a remote shared folder. If I paste it into explorer it opens fine, and I can copy/delete files from it.  What gives?

That's correct; the folder I specified above contains the WindowsImageBackup folder.  I can access that folder fine in Explorer, but when I try to direct the backup to it it gives the error I mentioned: "The specified path is not a remote shared
    folder".
Note that the error message you receive if you specify a folder which does not contain a WindowsImageBackup folder is "The specified remote shared folder does not contain a backup. Provide the path to a remote shared folder that contains backups."

  • Save a attachment file in the shared folder of receiver using ABAP report

    Hi all
Is it possible to save an attachment file in the folder of receiver's desktop using ABAP report?
I am using the standard mail sending code to mail the excel file as an attachment.
Consumer wants that file to be stored automatically in the folder of a shared drive he is using.
    Is it possible?

You can do that via class CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES method gui_download. But this is not working in background. Reports running in background cant reach presentation servers.
If you have XI/PI in place you can set up a scenario for that.

  • How to store files in shared-folder in background mode

    Hello All,
My requirement seems to be simple but I have tried many ways in achieving this, but failed. So require the help in accomplishing this task.
    Requirement
I have to create a program in SE38 which will create a internal table with data in it in .XML format(which I can achieve).
My requirement is this .XML file needs to be placed in a shared-folder in "BACKGROUND MODE".
I have tried using GUI_DOWNLOAD function module, but this FM only runs in Foreground mode and fails in Background mode. I have tried convincing my client that I will keep the file in Application Server as it is achievable using OPEN DATASET statements, but they are not willing to accept this.
So can you please help me in achieving this task as I am not getting any solution how to keep the file in Shared-folder in BACKGROUND mode itself(not Foreground).

  • How do I unlock numbers files that are in my public shared folder?

    Hello all,
I've been trying to access a file on my wife's shared folder and she's added me to the sharing and permission list on the file and on the server.
Can someone please give me a hint on how to unlock this file so we can use the versions feature of "numbers"?
    Thanks in advance.
    ~madamal

As far as I know, the versions feature is not shared on networks.
    The datas are stored locally.
Assuming that you boot from the HD named "madamal's HD", the versions datas are stored in the folder :
"madamal's HD:.DocumentRevisions-V100", not on the network.
The period at the beginning of the folder's name is used to hide it.
Trying to share an iWork generated document thru a network is playing with matches.
The iWork apps aren't designed for that.
If your wife work on a document when you are also working on it, there is no provision to arbitrate between the changes introduced by the two users. Very efficient way to destroy the document.

  • Importing music from shared folder

I'm currently moving my music to my 2nd Account. (i'm the only user). I also put the .xml file and iTunes library file in the shared folder.
Question: what do i need to do to ensure that my songs, playlists get imported correctly??
    Thanks!

Hello, I had similar problems. Here is what I think is happening: You have two versions of every song in your library stored in your "My Music" folder. When iTunes first scans your "My Music" folder, it creates a copy of every song and keeps these in the "My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music" folder. At least this is where it is stored on my machine. These stay even if you uninstall iTunes.
So, when you rescan your music with iTunes, it re-sees both versions. Here is what I would do:
1.Uninstall iTunes as thoroughly as you possibly can.
2.Look in your "My Music" folder for any folder or file with the word "iTunes" in it. Delete these files (iTunes Music, iTunes Libraries, etc.).
    3. Make sure there is only one version of each song on your machine.
    4. Reinstall iTunes.
    5. When you are prompted, tell iTunes that you will manage your files. Basically, don't allow iTunes to copy every song to the "iTunes Music" folder.
Here is what I do to make sure my music stays where I want it:
Whenever I import a CD or purchase music, it is automatically placed in the "My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music" folder. I go in and cut and paste the just-added folder out of this "iTunes Music" folder into the "My Music" folder where all of my other music resides. Then, I open iTunes and double click on the files I just moved. iTunes will not be able to find them because they are not where iTunes remembers storing them. It will give me the option to find the files manually, which I do. I do this for every song I just added.
This way, all of my music stays organized in the "My Music" folder. Should I ever need to change machines, I can get the files only with no iTunes baggage to screw up the installation on the new machine. Hope this helps!

  • Question about the shared folder when backing up audio

Hello, kind Mac folk. I've read a lot about using Itunes to backup Itunes libraries onto multiple CD-R's and it seems that, right now, this is the best option for me. However, I've also read that it's a good idea to also backup the "users/shared" folder from the HD because it contains some invisible information regarding the authentication of music that I purchased using my .Mac/Itunes account. So is it possible to burn this folder in the same burning project I'll use accross the CD-R's on which my tunes will go? Or do I need to place this folder in a burn folder and back it up that way? And, if the latter is the only way possible, will it matter that the information is on a separate disc if I ever need to restore or upgrade my hardware? Thanks so much for your help and advice.
    Austin

If you create your backup CD-Rs from within iTunes, it's not possible to include the Shared folder.
You have to burn that folder as a separate project.
The size of the folder can be fairly large (mine is about 1.9 GB) depending on the applications and specific use of your computer.
If your only goal is to save the authorization info in case of a HD crash or other failure, it won't help. After repair of a logic board or changing RAM, you will be asked to authorize again anyway.
Take a look at this article
The authorization info is stored in the 'SC Info.sidb' file inside the 'SC Info' folder in Shared.
You can 'unhide' invisible files by tools like Tinkertool or OnyX (you can find them on versiontracker.com)
    Hope this helps.

  • Sharing the /Users/Shared folder

My wife is using a Macbook Air (10.5.4) and would like to access photos stored on our iMac G4 (10.4.11).
She can connect to the G4 using cmd-K but the only volumes in /User that show up are those of the four family members, the /User/Shared volume is not visible and this is where the photos are; from the G4 of course all users have access. I checked the permissions on the folder and it looks correct...rwx for all.
Also, in her own volume on the G4 she cannot open the system standard folders (Movies, Desktop, Library, etc.) from the Air but she can open any folders and docs she created.
I tried Mac Help but didn't find anything useful.

As BDAqua reported, you'll need SharePoints to add the iMac G4 Tiger Shared folder as a mount point.
When attempting to access her own volume on the iMac G4 Tiger from the MacBook Air running Leopard, is she attempting to connect as a guest user or as a registered user? If just clicking on the iMac icon in a Finder window's sidebar, it might be trying to allow login as a guest, not a registered user. Try connecting from Finder's menubar > Go > Connect to server (then enter afp://{networkname_of_imacG4}) or Go > Network (and doubleclick on iMac icon) and when prompted to save password to keychain, do so ‑‑ if no login password (to her account on the iMac) has been previously saved in her Keychain (on the MBA), it would restrict her to logging in as a guest.

  • How can i get back the adobe creative cloud shared folder after I deleting it?

How can i get back the adobe creative cloud shared folder after I deleting it?

I think Adobe pulled the Creative Connect Desktop app until the new CC release next month. I just built a new PC and noticed it wasn't available in the app manager any more. On my other machines it isn't working anyway. In another post Adobe devs said they new it was down because thay were working out some server issues. It looks like they couldn't resolve them.
I bought into the CC right from the beginning since I never buy my software outright but rather use a credit card. I thought that getting the whole master suite for $30 a month interest free was a great deal. Having all the software has been great, but it was over a year before we even saw a desktop syncing folder and noe it seens as though we are going to have server problems every time they upgrade the cloud leaving us to have to use the cluncky web interface during these sync blackouts.
I can tell you Adobe better get it together cause ther starting to p*ss off a lot of loyal customers. It feels like were dealing with a cellphone company who only gives deals to the new customers and once you've signed the contract your screwed.

  • Won't add to library TV shows stored in a network folder

iTunes 8 for Windows will not add media files of type TV Show stored on a network share to the library. I have tested this with both DRM-protected files purchased from the iTunes store, and with unprotected files I have encoded myself. Any tips on how I might diagnose this further, or make it work as intended?
    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Share my Mac’s iTunes Music folder (containing a TV Shows subfolder with TV shows in it) on the network.
    2. Verify iTunes 8 for Windows will successfully add music files contained in the shared folder to its local library (e.g. by File > Add to Library…).
    3. Select File > Add to Library… and this time browse to the TV Shows subfolder. Select a particular show’s folder to import. iTunes appears to process the files, but fails silently to add them to the library.
    4. Attempt to add the same files to the library via drag-and-drop, and by right-clicking a single file and choosing Open With > iTunes. Each attempt fails silently.
    Partial work-around:
    1. In iTunes 8 on the Mac, select an episode of a TV show, right-click and choose Get Info. On the Options tab, set Media Kind to Movie. Click OK. Assuming iTunes is configured to organize files automatically, iTunes silently moves the file to the Movies subfolder of the iTunes Music folder.
    2. In iTunes 8 on Windows, choose File > Add to Library… and select the file that is now of type Movie on the network folder. The file is successfully added to the library as a TV Show!
    3. In iTunes 8 on the Mac, change the Media Kind of the file in question back to TV Show. iTunes silently moves the file back to the subfolder of TV Shows.
    4. In iTunes 8 on Windows, attempt to play the file. iTunes will complain that it cannot find the file at its designated location. Browse to the file’s new location on the network. Although iTunes will happily show the file in the library, it will fail to play it.

I've been having the same problem on my wife's Windows XP machine and after some experimentation determined that iTunes does not like the fact that there is a space in name of the "TV Shows" folder. Since iTunes wants to put TV Shows in this folder you can't change the name but I did find a pretty simple work around. From Windows Explorer I mapped a network drive directly to the "TV Shows" folder, so instead of selecting "...\iTunes Music\TV Shows" (or some level above that) as the folder when doing a File, Add Folder to Library..., I selected n:\ (the network drive I mapped) and it worked great.
I don't understand what the issue is with the space, especially since music stored on a network drive does have this problem, but this did the trick.
