Storing Images and Documents in Portal

Dear Experts,
I have a scenario in which webdynpro and JSP Dynpage applications shall refer and upload image files in the portal.  I  have created a common file mount under WAS' irj folder  and I am able to access and write the images.
I made a common folder under irj folder on the server so that my application will refer the images by just giving the relative path i.e irj\foldername\image name and the access would be fasted instead of refering an independent folder somewhere on the server.
My question is, Is there is any impact if I create a folder under irj folder and store all the images? Any suggestions/pointers to the documentations would be great.
Thanks
Ram

If you are required to migrate from development to testing and then production server...then I think there can be problem as your application will not find folder in next systems.

  • Iphoto duplicates in images and documents

Is it normal for images to be stored in all images and all documents,
I would like to reduce the amount I have , but first want to be sure I do not delete the originals. Surely I am using double the space?

am I ok to delete duplicates? from documents and images
    NO
or am I best leaving well alone?
    Yes!
All Images is just a list of files and being in the list does not indicate en extra copy
All images is just a list and DOES NOT indicate duplicates - it is like having three copies of your bank statement - that does not give you three times as much money
    All documents is the same
Likewise all documents is just a list and DOES NOT indicate duplicates
And if these photos are in iPhoto you must NEVER move or delete them from these lists - it will corrupt your iPhoto library - Photos in iPhoto must be managed ONLY using iPhoto
Do not ever delete iPhoto photos from the All images or the all documents lists these ARE NOT Duplicates - they are just a list of files

  • How can i use adobe drive/cs4 for storing images and interact this with adobe cq5.4 DAM...

    Hi,
Can anybody suggest me i want use adobe drive to store images and i want to access the images for my cq5.4 instance..
I want to integrate drive to the cq5.4 dam for ignoring the dam burden on cq5 instane repository..
Is it possible to use this drive? or is there any other way i can achieve my task?
    Thanks,
    Sony C.

Adobe Drive software doesn't store images; it enables integration of a DAM system with Creative Suite and now Creative Cloud desktop apps.
Adobe Drive 3 is the first version of the software to support integration with Adobe's DAM. This version was designed to work with CS5 and CS5.5 apps.
We do not have a version of Drive that supports integration with CQ 5.4 DAM and CS4 apps.

  • Storing images and icons in a JAR file

    Hi,
I current have a JAR file to store our application icons in the GIF format. The application also uses several images which I would prefer to be stored in the JAR file as JPG files.
Is it possible to store both GIFs and JPGs in a JAR and access them from Forms?
    For Example:
    I am using code like:
    read_image_file('mess_bold.jpg','URL','IM_BOLD');
and I have this image file in the JAR but I get the error...
Unable to load image mess_bold.jpg for Image Item
    Also the Apache log shows...
    File does not exist: c:/oracle/frhome_1/forms/java/icons/mess_bold.jpg.gif
Is this a config problem? I noticed that the read_image_file call looks in the icons directory which I specify in my Registry.dat file. Do the settings for default.icons.iconpath and default.icons.iconextension apply to images as well?
    Thank you in anticipation.
    Regards,
    Tom Casserly

    Hi,
I already had the entry imageBase=codebase in my formsweb.cfg
According to this article it is possible to read images from the JAR using the 'URL' parameter see
    https://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/f?p=130:14:2109110130595761322::::p14_database_id,p14_docid,p14_show_header,p14_show_help,p14_black_frame,p14_font:NOT,137397.1,1,1,1,helvetica
I have managed to get the images loading from the JAR but only if I have them in the same directory and format (ie gif) as the icons. As I suggested above I think that read_image_file must be accessing the default.icons.iconpath=icons/ default.icons.iconextension=gif from my Registry.dat file.
There is also a slight problem that you cannot seem to use read_image_file in the WNFI or PF trigger as suggested here: Re: Read images from a jar file?
Has anyone managed to access images from a JAR in JPEG format alongside GIF icons?
    Thanks for you help.

  • Store image and document files

If I define a table column as BLOB type, and I want it to hold image files. Can I used it for holding multiple images/pictures? Same question is asked for the document files such as .DOC or .PDF files?
    I mean something like this:
    ROW ID BLOB
    Row 1 Image 1
    Row 2 Image 2
    Row 3 Image 3
Can I put all three (images 1, 2 , and 3) into one "cell", such as:
    Row 1 Image 1|Image 2|Image 3?
Similarly for the document, Can I put all three (doc 1, 2 , and 3) into one "cell", such as:
    Row 1 Doc 1|Doc 2|Doc 3?
    Thanks

Same question is asked for the document files such as .DOC or .PDF files?Yes, you can. But it will require you to create a "+mega datastructure+", embed the content (images, pdf, docs) into this and then saving that structure as a LOB.
For example, you can use XML, use base64 to encode the image/doc/pdf and add it into the XML structure - and repeat for each image/doc/pdf until they are all in that single XML format. XML is however not that well suited for dealing with large binary structures.
You can create your own format. You create a fixed size header structure that contains filename and size. You then write into the LOB a header+file, header+file, and so on.
Reading the LOB is relatively easy as you read a header (fixed size). This tell you how many of the following bytes are file (image/pdf/doc). Read this variable part and then read the next fixed sized header.
However... this is a lot of extra code that needs to be written. The LOB structure is a lot more complex. And you have to ask yourself how is this better in anyway to use header-and-file when you can achieve exactly the same using a table structure +(filename, lob)+.
If you want to store structured data in a database, then use the database to provide that structure for you. It is highly questionable to create your own complex data structure (only understood by your code) and then chuck that into a single database column value. This will not be robust. This cannot perform. This will never scale.
So your approach.. well, bluntly put I would put that into the Very Silly Party category.. you know the party who, for the Harpenden constituency, had election candidate Malcolm Peter Brian Telescope Adrian Umbrella Stand Jasper Wednesday (pops mouth twice) Stoatgobbler John Raw Vegetable (whinnying) Arthur Norman Michael (blows squeaker) Featherstone Smith (whistle) Northgot Edwards Harris (fires pistol, then 'whoop') Mason (chuff-chuff-chuff-chuff) Frampton Jones Fruitbat (laughs) (squeaker) Gilbert (sings) 'We'll keep a welcome in the' (three shots) Williams If I Could Walk That Way Jenkin (squeaker) Tiger-drawers Pratt Thompson (sings) 'Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head' Darcy Carter (horn) Pussycat (sings) 'Don't Sleep In The Subway' Barton Mainwaring (hoot, 'whoop') Smith.

Is it possible in flash to embed links to use right click save as for large documents.
I know that you can open a pdf in another browser but what about a file that you just want people to be able to save and not open.

If your linked file is zipped, it will be downloaded and not opened.

  • Keep track of images and links in a datafile

    Hi,
I have set up replication between my source and destination server. How do images and contents linked in a webpage section replicate?
I think images and content reffred should be replicated seperately, as a datafile doesnot have a refrence telling images reffered should be moved.
Now the question is how to move Images and contents that are linked in the webpage along with datafiles.
One solution is to use SiteStudio section replication. If we use that how to make sure this goes through a work flow and then gets replicated?
    your inputs willl be usefull

This seems somewhat like an architecture question. Let's assume you have two servers (I'll call them staging and production). You have set the Site Studio Migration Utility to automatically replicate content associated with your site from staging to production. Now in our example, on staging there is a datafile with various images and links to native content that users regularly update. You have a workflow layer applied to all datafiles of your site so that content isn't migrated into production until it has been workflow approved. I'm assuming this is how you are set up (since this is a commonly recommended architecture).
Now back to the datafile. I'm assuming the images in the datafile (as well as any linked native content) have site specific metadata applied to them, so that the Site Studio Migration utility replicates them into production just like migrates other areas of your site. If that is the case, then it is the responsibility of the workflow approver to verify that all images (and document links) look right before approving the content for auto migration.
Unfortunately, you may run into a situation like the following... You have a page that lists sales figures every month, and uses an image to visualize those sales figures. You already have a datafile in production for February as well as the associated February graphic. You create an updated sales figure datafile for March, as well as an updated associated image for March. The image migrates into production automatically, before the updated datafile referencing the updated image clears workflow. Your February sales figure page could potentially have the March sales image inside of it. This is a potential problem since there is no concept of a "group approval" for all elements that make up the contents within a datafile. You could add a layer of workflow to all native content and images, but then you'd have to be fairly certain that you were synched up properly. You could also manually migrate, but I can see where this would not be ideal either. Unfortunately, there is no easy answer.

  • Instruction on how to work with images and videos in the storage azure using php

    Dear Sirs
I followed below instruction to make video and image storage on Azure using PHP:
    http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/storage-php-how-to-use-blobs/
Whenever I record an image on Azure storage and download stored image there is no format
in the stored image. and end up becoming like any other regular file. Othe problem is that I cannot see the concerned image in the browser. I already have checked recipient access and it is defined as public reading.
Could you also please provide me with an article instructing how to make upload,  download,
show up on the browser and remove video and images from the azure storage area?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Pedro

    Hi Pedro,
    Thanks for your posting!
I am not familiar with PHP. But from your description, I think your need pay attention to those points in your code:
1.When you store file or download file, please write the file name and
suffix, for example, you need store image as blob name "image.png".
2.When you download file from Azure blob, you need set the content type.
if your file is image, you could set the content type as image type.
3.You could get the blob URI, and set your image URL as blob URI. Do this, you can show the picture.

    Dear All,
Could anyone please tell me how to displaying document file and image file that I've stored to database (8.1.7) using oracle portal. (I use intermedia data type).
I've tried to follow the instruction given by Oracle LiveDemo, but it came with failure. (the image or document won't show up).

===== Portal should now start successfully ===== But when I go to http://localhost:7001/portal/server.pt I don't see any images and the css is not applied so can't login. Any idea what might be wrong. Here is the Apache httpd.conf
    Include "C:/bea/alui/plumtreeconf/"
    # Based upon the NCSA server configuration files originally by Rob McCool.
    # This is the main Apache server configuration file.  It contains the
    # configuration directives that give the server its instructions.
    # See <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/> for detailed information about
    # the directives.
    # Do NOT simply read the instructions in here without understanding
    # what they do.  They're here only as hints or reminders.  If you are unsure
    # consult the online docs. You have been warned.
    # The configuration directives are grouped into three basic sections:
    #  1. Directives that control the operation of the Apache server process as a
    #     whole (the 'global environment').
    #  2. Directives that define the parameters of the 'main' or 'default' server,
    #     which responds to requests that aren't handled by a virtual host.
    #     These directives also provide default values for the settings
    #     of all virtual hosts.
    #  3. Settings for virtual hosts, which allow Web requests to be sent to
    #     different IP addresses or hostnames and have them handled by the
    #     same Apache server process.
    # Configuration and logfile names: If the filenames you specify for many
    # of the server's control files begin with "/" (or "drive:/" for Win32), the
    # server will use that explicit path.  If the filenames do *not* begin
    # with "/", the value of ServerRoot is prepended -- so "logs/foo.log"
    # with ServerRoot set to "C:/Program Files/Apache Group/Apache2" will be interpreted by the
    # server as "C:/Program Files/Apache Group/Apache2/logs/foo.log".
    # NOTE: Where filenames are specified, you must use forward slashes
    # instead of backslashes (e.g., "c:/apache" instead of "c:\apache").
    # If a drive letter is omitted, the drive on which Apache.exe is located
    # will be used by default.  It is recommended that you always supply
    # an explicit drive letter in absolute paths, however, to avoid
    # confusion.
    ### Section 1: Global Environment
    # The directives in this section affect the overall operation of Apache,
    # such as the number of concurrent requests it can handle or where it
    # can find its configuration files.
    # ServerRoot: The top of the directory tree under which the server's
    # configuration, error, and log files are kept.
    # NOTE!  If you intend to place this on an NFS (or otherwise network)
    # mounted filesystem then please read the LockFile documentation (available
    # at <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/mod/mpm_common.html#lockfile>);
    # you will save yourself a lot of trouble.

    # If unspecified (the default), the scoreboard will be stored in an
    # anonymous shared memory segment, and will be unavailable to third-party
    # applications.
    # If specified, ensure that no two invocations of Apache share the same
    # scoreboard file. The scoreboard file MUST BE STORED ON A LOCAL DISK.
    #ScoreBoardFile logs/apache_runtime_status
    # PidFile: The file in which the server should record its process
    # identification number when it starts.
    PidFile logs/httpd.pid

    Timeout 300
    # KeepAlive: Whether or not to allow persistent connections (more than
    # one request per connection). Set to "Off" to deactivate.
    KeepAlive On
    # MaxKeepAliveRequests: The maximum number of requests to allow
    # during a persistent connection. Set to 0 to allow an unlimited amount.
    # We recommend you leave this number high, for maximum performance.
    MaxKeepAliveRequests 100
    # KeepAliveTimeout: Number of seconds to wait for the next request from the

    # Note 1: The suffix does not have to be the same as the language
    # keyword --- those with documents in Polish (whose net-standard
    # language code is pl) may wish to use "AddLanguage pl .po" to
    # avoid the ambiguity with the common suffix for perl scripts.
    # Note 2: The example entries below illustrate that in some cases
    # the two character 'Language' abbreviation is not identical to
    # the two character 'Country' code for its country,
    # E.g. 'Danmark/dk' versus 'Danish/da'.

I am not expert in these, but please check out the following things and see whether it would solve your issue. (All these changes can be easily rolled back in case I'm wrong :). So make note of what you do)
As per your httpd.conf, you have chosen an automatic configuration of Apache by OWCI installer itself. What it does is create an imageserver.conf file in a separate directory and these settings will be included in your httpd.conf as you can see in the first line: Include "C:/bea/alui/plumtreeconf/".
If you check the imageserver.conf in that location, you would find a line like: Alias /imageserver/ "C:/bea/alui/ptimages/imageserver/". This aliases the original path "C:/bea/alui/ptimages/imageserver/" to /imageserver"
To confirm whether this is done right, check the following:
    1. Acces 'http://<server ip / server name / localhost >/' from your browser
This should display the Apache home page (as per your httpd.conf, it uses the default port 80; so no port number required)
    2. Access 'http://<server ip>/imageserver/' from your browser
This should display the directory structure (if its not disabled) inside your 'C:/bea/alui/ptimages/imageserver/' folder. Also confirm that all the subfolders are accessible.
    3. If all the above is right, it means that your imageserver settings are right. Please check your portalconfig.xml for the correct settings: For example, <setting name="HTTPPort"> should be 7001 in your case. If its something else, change it and restart Weblogic for the settings to take effect.
    Hope this helps.

  • Visibility of non-SAP reports and documents in the Portal

    Hi All,
I am new to the portal forum and need your direction.  We have the need for outside users to view static reports and documents not generated by SAP on the portal.  Can anyone point me to documentation on how this can be accomplished? We do not have Knowledge Management installed and my research seems to show that KM is the only way, is there another and how can we do it?
    Thanks for your help.
    Pam

    Pam,
How are your reports served?  If they are served up by URL, you can create a URL iview back to the source system.  If you need to store them in the portal system then you need KM.

  • Internal links in portal (CSS, images, and other struts actions)

Good morning gurus! I have another question regarding Struts Portlets. We have an application that builds a page with an image that comes from the database. The application is composed of two Struts actions. One that's in charge of drawing the page and the other action is in charge of bringing the image from the database. The second action is called from a JSP (img src="/getImage.do"). In portal, once the portlet rendered the JSP it doesn't recongnize the other links inside the JSP (the call to the second action). Also, other links suchs as images, CSS, and others Struts actions are not recognized. How can I access images, links, and CSS from the main application (the actual application).

    Hi Andrew -
This is a pretty big topic for one thread ... I will try to provide some pointers on where to look for more information.
    1. Need ability for non-html literate authors to update text, images and links on their portion of a shared web page
In the following whitepaper, see the section: Associated Funtion for Item Display
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/portal/pdf/oow_10gr2_1336_fender.pdf
This will allow you to prompt your non-HTML literate users for the "parts" to display and you worry about the UI.
    2. Need ability to enforce common look and feel on content provided by non-html literate authors.
Create pages based on Templates. Templates can force the style on users. Again - do not use text items and the RTE for users, you control the display with an Associated Function.
    3. Prefer ability to approve content before it goes live.
Grant content contributors "Manage with Approval" access
    5. Need advanced search capabilities
Check out the search section on Portal OTN
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/portal/content_management_10gr2.html
    Hope this helps,

  • How to retreive images and xml stored in temporary internet files

    hi all,
I am creating an air application that has to work in offline too.so i have decided to retrieve datas it from temporary internet files(is it a rightway or anyother way to do that if so pls suggest).   I have an issues of retreiving images and xml stored in the temporary internet files of the user system ..can anybody help me and give solution for this..
    regards,
    Divya.

What software are you using to create the website? Perhaps there is some command you can implement on the website to force the entire file to be downloaded. If you use Dreamweaver, you might ask in that forum. If you make the link an ftp link rather than a http link, you might guarantee that the file will be downloaded in its entirety, but the download location will not necessarily be in a temp folder.
