Storing iPad Photos in cloud services to free up space

I am moving photos from my iPad to Mega and amazon cloud storage but it is not freeing up any room on my iPad. The usage still shows the same amount. What do I have to do to actually have the photos and videos stored on the cloud services?

For photos in Photo Stream you can move them to your PC by using the instructions in iCloud: My Photo Stream FAQ
Note in particular the section titled "What do I need to use my Photo Stream" and "How do I turn on My Photo Stream"

  • How can i move photos off iphone 4s and free up space?

I have utilized dropbox and other storage options, but looking for a faster, easier method of removing photos from my phone and freeing up space.

Import them onto your computer. If you've got a windows, you can plug your phone into your computer and using the autoplay feature, you can import the photos onto your computer. This will allow you to delete the photos from your phone, but still have them on your computer.

How do I transfer photos from my iPad to iCloud so I can free up space on my iPad without losing the photos?

iOS iCloud backups can not be accessed outside of restoring your phone.
You should be transferring photos to your computer to be backed up.

iCloud offers Photo Stream. Photo Stream is a sync tool makes your last 30 days of photos available to other devices.
Photo Stream can only be accessed via iOS devices running iOS 5 or later, Macs running OS X 10.7.5 or later and PCs running Windows Vista or later via iCloud COntrol Panel.

  • How secure would the cloud services be?

    Hi all
From what I heard, some organizations would use cloud services for non-sensitive data to shared across office to reduce operational cost.
However even with TLS, file encryption and other security technologies, some government sector or organizations would still host their own file server / VPN for top secret or confidential information. Why is that so?
Would there possibly be data leaked out from cloud services? (e.g. cloud vendor's employee sabotage or attacked) I am interested to know about your opinion about this.
    Have a nice day!

Remember too the requirements for data security that are implied by securities laws in many countries. The accidental release of, say, financial data prior to any public release creates a disclosure requirement with, in the US, the SEC. That could be extremely embarrassing and even create abnormal stock tradeing in a company's stock. I recall an incident some 10 or 15 years ago where the CEO of a major publically traded company had his laptop stolen from his hotel room. That mandated public disclosure and SEC filings, and made the front page of the Wall Street Journal. Embarrassing indeed, and potentially dangerous as well.
Consider the increased public relations implications if that type of data were stored on a public cloud service rather than on a private server, either using a private cloud, VPN or both.  You might expect significant questions to be raised if the compromised data were stored on a public cloud.

  • If I sync my iphone and load my photos will it free up space

If I sync my iphone to itunes, can I wipe the photos from my phone and free up space to take more photos?

Syncing the phone to iTunes will do nothing about the photos in your camera roll. If you want to remove photos from the camera roll you need to import them separately to the computer before deleting them. See this support document. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083

I have both an iMovie.app and iMovie 9.09.app on my Macbook Air.  Can I delete one of these apps without losing iMovie?  I need to free up space on my Macbook Air as I don't have any space left.  I've ordered an external drive in order to move photos and video there to free up space.  In the meantime I have to make some room for incoming emails and to open programs.  I've already deleted some documents.

You should find out which app you are using when you double click on a movie.

  • How do I find in my iPad, photos I put 'in the cloud' from my iMac ?

I have put a photo album 'in the cloud' on my iMac but cannot seem to find this album anywhere on my iPad . I believe I have turned on in my iPad's iPhoto settings, everything that needs to be turned on.  Thank You in advance ,  David.

You turn iCloud Photo Library on in Settings > iCloud > Photos. However it doesn't "empty" the pictures to the cloud. The most you can do to free up space using iCloud is to turn on Optimize Storage to keep a smaller device-sized version of the photos on your iPad. See the quote below from iCloud Photo Library FAQ - Apple Support
Can I use iCloud Photo Library to save space on my device?
iCloud Photo Library automatically keeps all your photos and videos in the original, high-resolution version. Follow these steps to choose how you store your photos and videos on your device:
In iOS, tap Settings > iCloud > Photos or Settings > Photos & Camera, then select a storage setting.
In OS X, click Photos > Preferences > iCloud, then select a storage setting.
If you turn on Optimize [device] Storage, iCloud Photo Library will automatically manage the size of your library on your device, so you can make the most of your device's storage and access more photos than ever. All of your original, full-resolution photos and videos are stored in iCloud while device-size versions are kept on your device. You can download the original photos and videos over Wi-Fi or cellular when you need them.
If you turn on Download Originals, iCloud Photo Library will keep your original, full-resolution photos and videos in iCloud and on your device. Download Originals is the default setting for iOS devices with the free 5 GB storage plan and for all Mac devices.

  • How to get iPad mini photos onto a usb device to free up space on ipad mini

How can I transfer Ipad Mini photos to a USB device to free up space on Ipad Mini

You can't directly. Your best bet may be to use a cloud service such as DropBox, Media fire or Box to store them prior to deleting. From any of those services you can download to a computer and then to a USB drive or other external storage.

  • Can I backup all the photos on my iPhone to the cloud, then delete them from my phone to free up space?

Can I backup all the photos on my iPhone to the cloud, then delete them from my phone to free up space (but be able to restore them if I need them again?)

Thanx for the link...here's my problem.  I built my windows pc and installed 2 hard drives...but the larger one isn't accessible right now...not sure why...but the solid state little one is full. This is a problem I need one of my kid's to help me address.  I have a lot of photos 'cause my husbands into photography, we travel a lot, and somehow thousands of photos he took, plus ones I took, plus videos I took, ended up on my iPhone...and they are different in a lot of cases from the photos on the iPad that we share.  I know I have 2 address this someday, bu don't have time right now...and I can't take any new photos or videos...or even add an app for that matter, until I free up some space on my iPhone.  We've already taken two brief trips where I wanted to use my camera and couldn't...and I was looking for a quick way to address my picture taking ability...because we are leaving for another trip in a week, and another one right after that.  This is probably way more info than you need...but there are probably duplicates...but until I go thru them I won't know. I could be wrong, but I thought when I backed up my photos to iCloud that all the photos in the photo app were backed up.  Maybe I'm wrong and it's only those in the Photo Stream...in which case I should do something about that as well, 'cause I've upgraded our storage plan twice now...and it is getting pretty expensive...and I don't even know how to use it other than to do a complete restore when you get a new device which I just did recently because my son wanted our old iPad for a graduation present, and I kind of wanted the better camera on the new iPad, so I got one...and it took a week to retrieve everything from the cloud on our wi-fi! I hope this makes some sense to you, and appreciate any advice you have to share!

How do I free up space on my Ipad.  How do I delete my photos on my Ipad to free up space

Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Photos and Camera. You should be able to swipe across the camera roll, photos library and photo stream to bring up the red delete button.
Also - Photos that were taken with the iPad (or any photos in the camera roll) can be deleted right on the iPad in the Photos App.Tap the trash can icon in the top right corner if you are viewing the photo in full screen, or if you are viewing as thumbnails - tap the arrow in the upper right corner - tap the photos that you want to delete and then tap - Delete.
Photos that were synced from your computer using iTunes can be deleted by de-selecting them from the folder from where they were synced -  and then re-syncing.
