Storing music on TC but using iTunes..

Hi,
My idea is as follows, will it work is what I am wanting to know?
I want all my music/videos on TC, and I want to use my iPad or Air to play music through iTunes on my bluetooth speakers. When I open iPod or iTunes on iPad or Air will it pull the files through the TC then transfer to speakers or will all the files have to be stored locally on the machines themselves?
Hope this makes sense,
Thank so much!

Welcome to the discussion area!
Hopefully, you will receive some varying opinions on your plan so you can make a good decision.
The Time Capsule was designed to allow Time Machine to backup all the data from each of your Macs and keep a record of incremental backups after the first master backup. It works very well for that purpose.
But, the Time Capsule is not a media server and it will not function very well if you try to make it one. Access to your music library, videos, etc will be s-l-o-w. In addition, if you move your libraries etc to the Time Capsule from your computer(s), +you will have no backups.+
It would be much better to use a FireWire drive or USB drive attached directly to your computer if you need more storage space or want to consolidate your media libraries.

Many thanks JEM24 for your help.  Ive just spent the best part of six hundred pounds on a new Sony Rx100m2 compact camera, so I have no interest in the Ipods camera at all really. I doubt Ill be watching many videos on it as Im very lucky in that I have a good Android tablet. Its more as a stock music player that Ill be buying the Ipod for, if indeed I do end up buying one. I dont like the idea of paying the exorbitant amount added for more memory space that Apple along with most other companies charge. In fact I read an article on this very subject just yesterday in the tech section of Flipboard. It stated in the article that in the case of the Iphone  the actual cost of each additional  gigabyte of storage  to Apple et al is something in the order of 60p.. This is certainly not reflected in the price us the customer has to pay at the till.. Its for this reason primarily that Apple in particular, because their products do not allow adding expandable memory of your own in the form of cheap to buy cards, that nobody in their right mind buys the 64gig etc Iphones..I am aware that we are discussing my potential purchase of an Ipod Touch here but you see my point. Many thanks again though for helping me.

  • HT2731 Can you download music in South Africa using iTunes?

Can you download music in South Africa using iTunes?

    You can now!
Recently Music, Movies was added to the iTunes Store. Soon Games will be added (we are hopeful) and then most likely commercial books.

  • I have the mac laptop ibook g4,and i wanted to know what music downloader can i download to get free music besides having to use itunes?

I have the ibook g4 laptop! what music downloader can i download to get free music?,so i want have to use itunes.

Given the OS X versions last supported by the old PowerPC based G4/G5 computers, there are a few players that work with music sites for OS X 10.4.11 or OS X 10.5.8. I have not researched these, and many of the web sites that promise a free player or access to free music offer 'adware' laden questionable products, no matter what OS X version a Mac could run.
For just music, the Radio player in the iTunes application can give you several choices of music types, to include fairly recent songs. This will use bandwidth and there likely is no native way in the computer to capture the audio; and without a legal source, a question arises concerning illegal filesharing and the like, which is not a topic friendly to these discussions.
However there some great music channels in the Radio portion of iTunes player that do not require the store to listen to them; these are streamed from servers and you may be able to locate other streaminsg sources and add them to the iTunes Radio player.
There were some shareware or limited use utilities that could record any sounds in your Mac, including beeps, clicks and keyboard sounds. And any noises from web pages, etc. And save them. But some time has passed since I had anything like that. It was like a built-in recorder, and with a Mac microphone, even more so.
However anything software involves the limitations of your computer hardware's upper limit in OS X version. And be wary of sites with several download links that say free or download, since softonic genieo and others can install adware and other hard to remove ailment prone background software in your mac along with their promised product; and their 'uninstaller' also will add hard to remove background stuff in your mac. So does mackeeper and cleanmypc kinds of stuff. Avoid installing these along with hoped-for great promises.
Sorry to not be of much help, however anything that may
contribute to illegal file sharing is a void issue here...
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Problem in using 2 IDs for iTunes music purchase downloads and using iTunes Match for 1 ID

    Dear support managers,
We are using 1 macbook pro and 2 apple ID for purchasing iTunes music together (Me and my wife).
Actually, I have bought 1 year service of iTunes match on my apple ID and have been using well the service after download the purchased musics under the apple ID I am using.
But once my wife associated the macbook pro with her apple ID to download the musics she purchased,
I have not been able to use the iTunes Match service I have subscribed already.
    The message said
"This computer is already associated with an Apple ID. You can use iTunes Match on this computer with just one Apple ID every 90 days. You cannot associate this computer with a different Apple ID for 90 days"
I can neither purchase another computer for solving this situation nor want to purchase another iTunes Match service on my wife's apple ID.
Please help me out to solve this issue.
    Thanks and best regards,

    Hi,
You can only use one Apple ID with iTunes match. Purchasing another match subscription using wife's Apple ID is not a solution. I can only suggest that you use your ID for match and all iTunes music purchases.

  • Why can't I delete music from my iphone using itunes match anymore?

I thought for sure I used to be able to swipe to delete albums or tracks on my iphone - on my iphone 5 I can no longer do this. I found that if I turn itunes match off, I can delete. But turning itunes match on and off a lot is really a huge issue. It seems every time I do this the iphone loses track of some of the music.
Why why why can't these problems be fixed?!

    Awful, awful awful.
Apple ... what were you thinking, and why did you mess up your product so badly?
Why are you screwing over those who are the most devoted, who paid for an extra?
Really.  Could this be more frustrating:
You download a great new album!
You want to listen to it on your iPhone!
Oh wait, your iPhone is full.  Over capacity.  AND YOU SPEND AN HOUR TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET SONGS OFF YOUR IPHONE, reading every forum and every trick to somehow make the product work the way it should.  Trying to clear some space for that great new album you just got!
    But it still doesn't.
... frustrated, you end up deleting the whole library.  Because there seems to be no other way to clear space.
    And re-download.
But "use cellular data" is back on, so it downloads when you're out.
And your phone bill is now $300 because you live in Canada and the data caps are so low.
Great.  Now I paid over $350 to get my music I already own onto the phone.
At this point, the old USB seems like a better option.  Or even the firewire 400.  Longing for the days of my 10 gig iPod with a FireWire cable.
Thanks. So much for "positive user experience".
Easy to buy music, hard to get it on to your device.  But as long as I've already given you my money, who cares right?!

  • How do get  music on my phone using itunes?

    good night
i am trying to get my music from my computer to my iphone using itunes but i am clueless as to what to do

    Connect your phone to iTunes
On the Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings check "Sync only checked songs and videos"
In your music library check all the songs you want to sync to your phone
Make sure there are no exclamation points next to any of the songs you want to sync to your phone
Authorize your computer for all Apple IDs used for any purchased music you want to sync to your phone (in Store>Authorize This Computer)
Check "Sync Music" on the Music tab of your iTunes sync settings
Click Apply at the bottom to sync your phone

  • Music sync to ipod using Itunes 7.3.1 sounds like skipping cd

    Hello,
I have an older 12" PowerBook G4. Since installing the latest Quicktime (7.2) and iTunes(7.3.1) any music that I sync with my iPod sounds like a skipping cd. The music on the iPod sound like a skipping cd for a short time and then just skips to the next song. The next song of course does the same thing. The music sounds fine when played back using iTunes. The music is encoded as a MP3 using VBR. All of the music I have previously encoded (before iTunes 7.3) and put on the iPod continues to play just fine (using the same MP3 and VBR settings). I have tried resetting my iPod, but that did not help. Only having USB 1.1 ports and am not too excited by ideas that involve syncing 40GB of music back onto my iPod.
Any ideas what has changed in the latest software version or what can be done? It would grand to carry some new music to work.

So, the music sounds like a skipping cd and then shortly just skips onto the next song. In Itunes I selected the skipping songs (which happen to play fine in Itunes) and used "Convert Selection to MP3" under the "Advanced" menu, deleted the skipping songs from my iPod and then added the freshly converted versions of the songs back to the iPod. This worked. No skipping and the songs played all of the way though. Why do I have to convert an mp3 created by iTunes to an mp3 using "Convert Selection to MP3" in order to make things work?
I do not think that is the problem.
I use a laptop with limited hard drive space. After iTunes rips my cd's into mp3's I copy the mp3 files to an external hard drive, deleted the songs from iTunes and re-add them from the external hard drive using the "Add to Library" option under "Files". I did this fora couple of cd's. Then I deleted the corresponding songs off of my iPod and re-added them. The songs on the iPod again sound like a skipping cd before just skipping on to the next song.
One more time, I used "Convert Selection to MP3" under the "Advanced" menu to convert the skipping songs. This time I just left them in the iTunes Music folder on the internal hard drive instead moving them to the external hard drive. After deleting and re-adding the songs to my iPod the songs played fine.
I do not use an "iTunes Music folder" on my external hard drive and like to organize my mp3's to my likings.
The question now is, why can't mp3's be moved from the "iTunes Music" folder on the internal disk to an external disk? I do not have enough room on my internal disk to carry around my music and still accomplish work.
I had been using the method described above for years without problems.

  • In disk mode the music is there but in itunes doesn´t appear what can i do?

i had 2 gigas of music in my ipod. so i was using itunes 6 to add more music and suddenly itunes froze, and i had to use Ctrl + alt + Supr to close it, then i tryed again and there was nothing in the ipod, so i disconect the ipod from the computer and it was tru, there was nothing on the ipod, i put it in disk mode and the music was still there, and in properties shows 2 gigas are on use, SO WHY iTUNES AND THE IPOD DON´T RECOGNIZE THE MUSIC...What can i do???... please help..

Have you tried downloading iTunes 7 and refreshing your iPod? As long as you have your music on your computer still, you should refresh the iPod to it's default (factory) settings and re-import all of it.

  • Is there another way to download music to iPods without using iTunes

Do I have to use iTunes to download music to our ipods

Tracks you buy from the iTunes Store are not copy protected, though, and haven't been for a couple of years now.

  • Lost most of my music after installing and using iTunes Match.  Help!

I hope somebody can help me.  I purchased a MacBook Air off of a previous owner, and heard that iTunes Match was a good way to access all your music without having to use up hard disk space to actually store it locally.
So, I subsribed to iTunes Match and things seemed to be working OK for a couple weeks.
At some point, I noticed that I couldn't see some of my favorite music in my iTunes library anymore.  Upon searching further, most of my favorite music seems to have disappeared.
Kinda ******.  I assume something got fowled up somewhere, and would appreciate some wisdom to help me access my music again.
Thanks to anyone who's got the skills to help...
    Cheers,
    m

For the initial scan, match and upload process to work the music in the iTunes library must physically be on the HDD. When you purchases the service where was the music, and where is it now? What is the source for the music?
