Storing password in OeBS

Hi,
I have a requirement that from OAF Page, when a user clicks on the button, the user gets logged in to the Third party system. To login to the thrid party system, I need to hit the URL by appending the username and password. This username and password would be encrypted and this encryption will be done in the OAF Controller code. Also, this username and password will be given by the third party.
Now in OeBS, I need to store this username and password provided by the third party in either say valueset/profile etc. The problem is if someone query this valueset/profile, he will be able to see the password.
Is there anyway in OeBS where I can store the UserName/password, so that password is not visible to any user and still I can read that password in the OAF Controller code.
Please tell me, if you have any input on this.
Thanks
Saurabh

Srini's solution is more secure but here is a quick (but bad) workaround.
You can consider creating a profile to store username/password.
Make the profile not visible to user nor updatable by user.
This way, only sysadmin can see the password. But if someone were to query the fnd_profile_option_values, they will see it.

  • Stored Passwords in Acrobat X and Upgrading to Acrobat XI

I have numerous stored passwords in Acrobat X.  I don't want to lose them if I upgrade to Acrobat Pro XI.  Do the passwords automatically go along with a conversion and, if not, what can I do to copy the stored passwords from Acrobat X to Acrobat XI?
    Thanks,
    Steve

If the plug-in is not even loaded, chances are that something goes wrong
when the OS tries to link the plug-in to dynamic libraries. Verify that you
have all the libraries installed that are required to run the plug-in.

  • Why is the stored password pop-over window so massive, so irritating, and how the @#$%#$% do I get rid of it?

Ok, so FF just updated itself to the new version. It appears Mozilla has done everything possible to add all the annoyances of the Internet Explorer interface to FF.
My issue is the stored password popup. It's massive. It blocks the page view, and I can't ignore it easily like the older style that just slid a small button, unobtrusively, in the corner.
This is just another irritation in addition to the completely uncalled for removal of the status bar (no I'm not going to install another plugin to "fix" it), and the sudden change to the order of some contextual menu items (open new tab/window are reversed. wtf?)

Try signing out and then back in again by going into Settings>Store>Apple ID:>Sign Out>

  • Storing password in property file

i have an application which needs to read some values from property file but one problem is
i need to store the password there as well. storing password as a plaintext is not acceptable for this case. is there any suggestion how to do it? and ofcourse this property file needs must be easy to modify.

Instead of storing the password as plaintext you can
just store its digest with an algorithm like MD5 or
SHA. In order to check the user password your
application just have to compute the hash of the user
password and compare it with the stored digest.
In this case, be VERY carrefully with your
implementation: there's a lot of tricks that can
collapse all your application security features.Storing a digest is appropriate if you are trying to implement an authentication mechanism, but I expect the original poster is storing passwords in a properties file so his program can read them in and use them when connecting to external resources.
For such purpose, storing a digest would not be useful. It is this scenario that is discussed in the thread I directed him too.

  • Previously stored passwords in v. 3 not working in v. 4

in v. 3 of Firefox I had the option of storing passwords for web sites. in v. 4 I can not get all of the stored passwords to appear so that I can enter the websites. A new looking window with a picture of a key pops up asking me if I want to save the log in and password for the site when in fact in v. 3 it already was. Example: ancestry.com, www.1000trails.com, etc.
I know where the passwords are stored and everything looks OK. The information is not coming through the v. 4 to my Mac.

    scan -x0 -t1 -s1 /usr/share/dvb/dvb-t/uk-CrystalPalace | tee channels.conf
I have some channels (so far) to work with that (UK Crystal Palace). Far from working correctly though.

  • Password validation script checking against stored passwords

I am able to create a script to check and validate for the password complexities outlined by our Active Directory GPO, but is there a way to check the password against the 1-24 stored passwords to validate that it hasn't been used before?
    Thanks

Sorry Bill, I have written a forms based application in VB.NET that will allow the end-user to type in a proposed password. upon the press of the "Test" button the application loops through the characters in the textbox.text and determines if it
meets at least three of the following requirements:
    1) the proposed password has at least one uppercase character
    2) the proposed password has at least one lowercase character
    3) the proposed password has at least one numeric value
    4) the proposed password has at least one symbol
    5) the proposed password has at least one Unicode character (non upper/lower case)
and an over all check that it meets the length requirements
I am hoping to find a way to check against the stored passwords to find out if the password has been used before.
    Thanks,
    -Ken

To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data. See https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Uninstalling+Firefox
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.
For details of how to find your profile folder see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles

most everything should be listed here.
there was a way to see the website data and stored information, but not the passwords. they were ************
you were only able to delete the login information, and unfortunately, since i have not used the device in so long, have forgotten the language.
so you will have to dig a bit.
it was a command that you would enter into the browser address bar.

  • Stored passwords

so maybe i'm missing something here, but when i try and login to facebook, i can't get auto logged in. first place i checked was in my stored passwords. i made sure there was nothing about facebook being set to 'never store passwords,' or whatever it's called exactly. i tried again and nothing. so i went back in and deleted every facebook login there was. tried again and nothing. i can't even check the 'remember me' box and have that work. it never stays checked. is my version of safari, 3.2.1., too old for it to work with facebook? i can't really think of anything else.
i even reset safari with everything checked except the remove stored passwords and remove other autofill texts and that did nothing as well.
is there some other option somewhere i'm missing that would keep my login from auto showing up in facebook? cause it's highly annoying.

and one other thing, i've deleted all my facebook saved passwords. so i go and login to facebook and safari doesn't ask me if i want to save the login info. why? cause normally when i delete a previously saved login info and than logon, safari will ask me if i want to save the password.

  • How do I remove stored passwords IF any from FF Sync

    Hi
I have opened a new account and synched once
After sync I realise that the tools -> Options - synch *has* "passwords" ticked ..so I assume that my stored passwords IF any have been synched
How do I remove the passwords from sync ?
I am ok with other data being synched like browsing history etc .... but what about password ?
    TIA
    Regards
    subu

hello, if you remove the check-box next to passwords, they will also be removed from the server (you can check under manage account > view quota).
another way to clear all your current sync data is by logging-in to [https://account.services.mozilla.com/sync/purge https://account.services.mozilla.com]

  • How to grant privilege to Change Stored Password in External Application ?

    Hi,
I have added an external application in portal but if I did not grant manage privilege for the page that I have added "External Applications Portlet" then the users are unable to change stored password. How can I grant users to do this action only?

You cannot log in by supplying a password's hashed value. You should supply the real password. The SQL Authenticator (or the ReadOnlySQLAuthenticator) in the Weblogic Server then will calculate the hash value of the password you supplied and will compare it with the hash value stored in your database table. Of course, in order to do that you should configure the SQL Authenticator to retrieve the hashed password values from the DB table with the appropriate prefix (e.g. {SHA}, {SSHA} or {MD5} depending on the hashing algorithm you used for the passwords in the DB table) in order for the WLS to know which hashing algorithm to apply.

Hi, suddenly my iPad (3) won't recognize any of my wifi stored password... I did the 'Reset Network Settings' several times but it won't change anything... I wouldn't like to hard reset... If anyone have a solution to solve this problem... Thanks!
