Storing plain xml file in database?

hello everyone!
I have newly joined the forum as well the job.We have integrated oracle 10g XE with a bug tracker tool i.e. ITRACKER, now we want that the XML report generated by ITRACKER shud get stored in the database.
Can anyone help me with this query as i don't have much knowledge about java and XML.
please answer me as soon as possible

With XE there is XML support in the database but no XQuery, JNDI, or Servlet support.
If you give a specific example it could be helpful, here are simple write and read tests on XE;

After spending 2+ hrs with Hyperion Support nothing got resolved.. Just to give more background on this problem, we originally reconfigured all Hyperion components to use different SQL server, that is when the problem started happening as soon as we got to Planning Instance Configuration. Could this be the situations when old server name is still somewhere in the system?.. Could this be Shared Services problem.

• "Error retrieving xml file from database"

Hello All,
I have installed and configured planning with Shared services. While I try to create an instance in Configuration Utility by entering the Instance Name, Host Name, Port (8300) and Click "Next", I get this error -
*"System failure:Error retrieving xml file from database".*
My RDBMS is - SQL Server 2005
OS - Windows 2003 Server
I am unable to work on planning for few months due to this error.. I would sincerely appreciate if someone can provide me a solution for this..
Thanks much,
Varma.

Hi,
Ive seen this before.
If this is a new environment could you create a blank database and configure it as your System database? Then try again and you should be fine.
I think you may have some invalid entries in your sys database.

• Using XML file as Database

Hi all,
Can we use an XML file as Database? Currently I'm using Microsoft Sql Server 2000 as the beckend. Now I'm creating a small project which does not require much functionality of Sql Server. I want it to run without help of any others software installation.
I need only insertion and extraction in a simple manner i.e. no much joins or unions and other implications.
Thanks

sure, just define the format, write the engine, write the drivers, etc. etc.
Far easier to use some lightweight embedded database engine though (but maybe not as much fun). Thanks for reply.
Pls post link to the page or resource where I can read about that.
Also, if you have link to the critical comments on this technique, pls post them also.

• Loading XML files into Database table

Loading XML files into Database table
Hi I have some XML files say 100 files in a virtual directory created using "Create or replace directory command" and those files need to be loaded into a table having a column of XMLTYPE. 1)How to load that using Oracle provided procedures/packages

Check out the Oracle XDB Developer's Guide, Chapter 3. There is an example of using BFileName function to load the xml files from a directory object created using create or replace directory. It works really well.

• What's the better, xml.file X database consulting?

hello!
have you any idea of what way of storing the data is better ?
I need your opnion. Thanks

depends. Is the data static? Then an XML file might be a better solution. Is the data dynamic? Than a database might be better. It all depends on the application really, so you'll have to judge this for yourself.

• Generate an xml file from Database query results

Hi, can anyone help me out with this problem I'm having. What are the steps in creating an xml file directly from the results of a database query. I currently have a very simply process that queries a database via a partner link. The query returns the data but it's from this point that I am stuck. I need to create an xml file with the data along with the xml tags. I've looked at dozens of tutorials with no luck.
I would greatly appreciate help with this.
bpel rookie

Should be quite simple.
Create another partnerlink, configure it to use the file adapter, and write to an XML file. In this case you need to create an XML Schema (.xsd) of the file you want to create.
Before you write to the file, either add assign steps to copy individual attributes or use a transform activity to convert from the database format to the file (xml) format.

• Reading XML file in database

I have to read the XML file which is on UNIX and populate the data from XML file in Oracle Table. Can somebody tell me how to do this. We are using Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.7.4.0

You can use 3 packages called:
XMLPARSER
XMLDOM
XMLPROCESSOR
XML API Reference - XDK and Oracle XML DB Contents / Search / Index / PDF
XML Database Developer's Guide - Oracle XML DB Contents / Search / Index / PDF
XML Developer's Kits Guide - XDK Contents / Search / Index / PDF

• How to create an Xml File From DataBase?

hi all
i have two tables from my database :
VoucherHeader and VoucherItem
VoucherHeader has 4 fields:
VoucherHeaderId
bigint Unchecked
VoucherNum bigint
Unchecked
VoucherDate nvarchar(50)
Unchecked
Comment nvarchar(50)
Unchecked
VoucherItem has 8 fields :
VoucherItem bigint
Unchecked
VoucherHeaderRef
bigint Unchecked
Row bigint
Unchecked
Code1 bigint
Unchecked
Code2 bigint
Unchecked
ItemComment nvarchar(50)
Unchecked
Debit bigint
Unchecked
Credit bigint
Unchecked
and i fill datatable by this codes:
Private Sub Form1_Load(sender As Object, e As EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
Me.VoucherItemTableAdapter.Fill(Me.DataSet1.VoucherItem)
Me.VoucherHeaderTableAdapter.Fill(Me.DataSet1.VoucherHeader)
End Sub
now i see this result:
how to send data into an Xml File From DataGridView Header and Item?
please help me
thanks all.
Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful and He created the human

One instruction. But you do it from the dataset, not the DataGridView
Me.DataSet1.WriteXml(FILENAME)
There is a WriteXML method for a DataTable but it gives errors. Since you dataset has two tables save bot into the same xml file.
