STORM-BDTM for MAC problems

Can anyone help.
I have a BB STORM and I downloaded the new desktop manager for MAC and can't get it working.
When I try to sync it says:
The database cannot not be accessed for synchronization.
For help resolving this issue, refer to KB19454 in the BlackBerry Desktop Manager Knowledge Base.
It says this for Calendar, Contacts, Notes, and Tasks.
Nothing will sync and I can't find a 'BlackBerry Desktop Manager Knowledge Base' anywhere?
Can anyone at BB help?

I couldn't find anything on google so well done for finding that!
I did the steps for installing what PIM applications I could find that seemed to have something to do with the tasks I was asking to sync. It works once then the same error message comes up. I then have to go to applications and press the start button again, wait for it to all finish, then I can sync once more.
Is there any specific PIM's that i need to install on my device in order to get DTM working properly. I look at that list and can't see anything that really stands out??
Also where it says:
WorkaroundDelete the Desktop CICAL service book record and undelete it from the service book options screen. Completing this step will set the BlackBerry Enterprise Server calendar database back to the default calendar.
Eject and disconnect the BlackBerry smartphone
On the BlackBerry Smartphone go to Options > Advanced Options
Select Service Books and select the Desktop[CICAL] service book
Produce the menu and select Delete
Produce the menu and select Undelete
Restart BlackBerry Desktop Software for Mac and perform a synchronization.
I have gone to my device and there is no Desktop[CICAL] in Options > Advanced Options?
Any clues why that would be?

Hi guidolal,
Are you facing the issue with any pdf's on the Mac.
Have you tried downloading a sample pdf like any Adobe help file from the website and then check if you are able to launch it fine via Reader?

Word 2011 for Mac - problems with font color

After reading others' problems with Word, I feel lucky I've got only this small one: I can't change the color of fonts! When I click the arrow next to the Colored A, I get a blank menu! I've found a few others with this problem on the web, but no clear, simple solutions. Anybody got one? I'd really appreciate it!

Windows Media Player for Macs Problem

Hi. I realize this is not a direct iMovie question however I (along with alot of other iMovie users) have to occasionaly deal with WMV files by converting them to a format to be imported by iMovie.....therefore I thought some other iMovie users may have encountered this problem. I recently got an iMac G5(0S10.4) and have been transfering some info from my old Mac(iMac G3(OS10.2.8)) to the New Mac. With the new Mac....every time I try to open a wmv file with the Windows Media Player 9 for Macs...I get a message...."This file may not play correctly because it was compressed by using a codec that is not supported".The file will open..the video will play...but theres no audio. The same message appears for wmv files transfered from the old mac, taken from a CD, or downloaded from the net. However these same files will play on the old Mac with audio using the same WMPlayer. I tried re-installing the WMPlayer...but did not make any difference.The strange thing is....a few days ago when I first tried this ....the wmv files would open and play with audio on the new Mac however now the message comes up with all wmv files preventing me from converting them with audio to a format for iMovie.Is the problem with the new Mac, the WMPlayer or the wmv files. Any suggestions to remedy this would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi. Strange things still happening. This afternoon when I tried opening the wmv files with Quicktime "flip4mac" all the wmv files were "greyed out" in the "open" window preventing me from opening them. I just tried opening one with the WMPlayer and viewing the "Show movie Info".....it reads...WMVideo-9.0, WMAudio-9.1.....which makes me wonder if the WMPlayer 9.0 will play WMAudio-9.1 but then again the same player plays it on the old mac. Then......just to double-check...tried opening one again with the Quicktime Flip 4 Mac. This time the wmv file opened and played with audio. I'm wondering if the problem the 1st time was that a "restart" was needed after installing the flip4mac software the 1st time (even though I dont recall the installer telling me that). The "Show movie info" this time reads...WMVideo-9 standard and the WMAudio-9 standard. I would prefer if the WMPlayer could open the files (as its a bit more convienent to just double-click and open files then go to Quicktime/menu/file/openfile/wmvfile/open) however I'm glad that I have the option now to use the Flip4mac player.Thanks. 2011 Word for Mac problems

When I open a file in my Word for Mac program that was created in Word and is on a portable drive it opens fine. If I first save the file to the Mac desktop and then try to open I get the message " This is not a valid file name". This problem is on my IMac but it doesn't happen on my Macbook . Both are running Lion and both have the sane version of Word for Mac. (2011). Has anyone run into this problem and did you resolve it?

"This is not a valid file name. Try one of the following:
Check the path to make sure it was typed correctly
Select a file from the list of files and folders
(letterhead.doc)"

Office for Mac Problems

I have Office for Mac 2004, which supposedly allows 3 installations, with 3 different Installation Key Numbers. I have installed it on 2 Macs, and all is fine until I try to use both computers at the same time. Then I get a message on the Mac on which I installed it second telling me that "a copy of this programme is already open", and if I want to continue I have to close down all the Office applications on the first machine! Very frustrating! I am almost certain I used a different installation Key for the two machines but cannot find the recoed of what Key number was used. If I look in "Properties" I see that the product ID numbers are the same until the last group of digits which are different on the two machines. How can I find which installation Key numbers I used on each machine, and is there any way I can get aouns this problem. I am nervous to unistall and reinstall in case I am then not allowed to reinstall with a previously used Key!?

Photos for mac problems

I can't believe there's no similar questions on here...! Well, after 'upgrading' I've run into problems/glitches and annoyances. Loading photos from my memory card works fine, and I mostly like the upgrade. But my Macbook pro retina- new three months ago with 1tb of storage and 16gb RAM struggles with resolving the photos, taking a few seconds to focus each photo. This was instantaneous with iPhoto. And when editing, it takes even longer to focus, sometimes needing to return to the main photos stream before clicking back in on the single photo to fix it. And instead of running at around 40 degrees, using iPhoto from three days ago, my computer now runs at 75-80 degrees whenever I'm using the Photos app. This is in normal parameters, so I've been told, but why the enormous difference?
Albums. There's a lead photo for each album but now there's nothing else, no clue to the photos contained within when you drag the cursor across. This is crazy and pointless. Especially so with iPhoto events. Nothing.
And a major glitch. If you bring up a photo orientated for portrait and pinch/zoom in, there's a lurch to the right that doesn't happen in landscape. This makes it impossible to zoom in on a certain point until you're half-way zoomed in. Not good.
Final point out. In edit, there's a weird choice, where you have to 'add' the sharpening button, definition button etc. This would be OK except it resets for each photo. this is insane.There's no need to have some of these buttons hidden like this.
There needs to be a way for us to customise Photos for mac. We can't flag a photo any more but have to use a childish 'heart'. We're not all fourteen years old. The white background is distracting. Let us customise it. And there's no drag and drop into Lightroom and some other apps too any more. Crazy, crazy, crazy. Anyone have a work around? Maybe updates will fix some of these. I hope so. But Apples' tendency to remove choice and customisability is very worrying.

Second, I spent months organizing curating my iPhoto library, which consists of 35,000 photos, into various events. The new Photos app has completely obliterated that hard work by removing "events" from the organization and then by jumbling photos into what seems to be, at times, a random ordering. Is there any way to resurrect my events and the prior chronology I had established for my photos? I am absolutely fuming at what occurred.

This apparent mess is intentional. Photos organization of the library is automatic. It will structure the library by Moments - grouping the photos by location and date.
The only organization you can add are albums and smart albums based on keywords, etc.
However, your events should have been migrated. You should be seeing a folder "iPhoto Events", with albums for each event. Is this folder missing?

Dreamweaver CS4 and IE 5.2 for Mac problem

I'm testing my new/first website. I'm using Dreamweaver CS4. The horizontal Spry Menu bar works fine in Internet Explorer and Safari but not in Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.2 for Mac 5.2.3 (5815.1). The horizontal menu bar becomes vertical and the submenus are not available. I've run browser compatablity tests for every Web page and my CSS files and they come back "no issues detected." What can I do to correct the problem? I have a PC (Vista) and have been using my neighbor's Mac to check the browser. Thank you.

Do not worry if your site does not function at all in IE for Mac. That is deprecated software that has not been developed since Jaguar/Panther. It in no way reflects IE on Windows and statistics prove the majority of Mac users use Safari or Firefox with Camino and Opera in behind them.

MSN messenger 7.0.1 for mac, problems ( don't know where to post, sorry!)

I discovered that sometimes, when I talk to people ( so far talked to people using windows only), I cannot receive what they say, and I need to log in using a pc to say what they say, sometimes.
Why is this happening? any clue?

This is not a Mac problem. It's a known issue (although not recognized by Microsoft), it's just a flaw on the Windows Live network. it happens on the Windows client too time to time. The exact reasons are unknown.

Excel 2011 for Mac problem on Mavericks?

I have an unusual problem that just reared its head yesterday. I'm on Excel for Mac 2011 v. 14.3.8, and Mavericks 10.9. I don't know if this is specifically Mavericks related or not.
I have a file that resides on my Mac Pro in our den. We have our two MacBook Airs set up with file sharing, screen sharing, etc., so that we can easily access and update that file from our Airs (its's our personal finance spreadsheet, a critical document for us!).
All of the sudden, when we try to access the file from our Airs via conventional file sharing, we get the following message: "Excel could not open 2013 Finances.xlsx because some content is unreadable. Do you want to open and repair this workbook? If Excel cannot repair the file, some data may be lost" Our options in the dialog box are to Cancel or Open and Repair. When I click on the latter, I get the following message: "The workbook cannot be opened or repaired by Microsoft Excel because it is corrupt".
Interestingly, though, I can open the file normally from the desktop, so the file doesn't appear "corrupt".
Also, from our Airs, I can open up any other file via file sharing, so it's not a global File Sharing problem.
Also, from our Airs, I can open the file via Screen Sharing, interestingly.
Finally, I went into Time Machine and restored the file from a few days ago. It continues to get weirder. I can open that restored file fine via File Sharing on the Airs. Then, from the Airs, if I add some new data, then save it, then try to reopen it, I get the error message and am unable to open it from my Air while being able to open it from my desktop.
I've posted to a Microsoft forum as wel, but I'd appreciate any help you can give me!

Lync for Mac - Problems to add contacts

Hello, we recently added Lync online to an Office 365 setup.
Everything is working fine with PC's. But On the couple of Mac's we've setup so far with the latest version of Lync Online (including updates), users can't
add contacts. They can communicate just fine with other users but when they add users to their contacts, they never show up. When other users that add the Mac users as contacts, the Mac user gets a notice asking for permission and if they would like to add
the other user to their contact list, but nothing ever happens.

Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 for Mac problem

I have recently bought Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 as an upgrade (for Mac) and after I enter the serial number during installation it asks me for a serial number of a qualifying product, listing three: Premiere Elements 4, 7 or 8. I only have Premiere Elements 9. I would be happy to buy the aforementioned products except several sources suggest that PE8 was never produced for Mac. Any ideas of what I can do?

Return it. CS5 has not been sold for more than 1 year. Instead get CS6.

Office 2004 for Mac:: Problems Importing Data from Windows

I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this but:
I am switching from Windows and Outlook 2003 and trying to move my data from Outlook into Entourage. I was somewhat successful using O2M to import my Contacts and E-Mail.j However O2M created a bunch of .ics files that I can’t seem to get into Entourage’s calendar.
I also have a lot of Outlook Notes and Tasks that I can’t seem to import or drag into Entourage’s Notes and Task windows.
Any suggestions? I didn’t think it would be so hard. You would think that Microsoft as the vendor of both programs would have provided a smoother method of moving data between their programs.

Just out of curiousity--why is this not a good place to ask this question? As a new user to the Apple/Mac community am I relegated to asking questions only about Apple hardware and software written only by Apple? One of the enticements for switching over to Apple from Windows, besides getting tired of having to be a technical wizard, were all the platitudes about how easy it is to switch. Well it isn't all that easy.
Don't get me wrong, I am loving my new MacBook Pro and I imagine once I get my Outlook data over to the Mac I will be really happy. But given that all my email, notes, tasks, calendar and contacts for years have been on my Windows machine I would have liked a little less hair pulling trying to get it over to my mac. It has not been clean and it hasn't been easy [over a week now].
Somehow I thought "Well I'm probably not the first person to be taking this route and where would I find the largest number of people who may have already gone before me and could offer directions/suggestions." I did do my research and based on the number of postings concluded that Office2004 for Mac was the best choice if I was using Outlook on Windows and needed to continue to use Word/Excel/Powerpoint with the rest of the business world. And it did appear from all the postings that a lot of people use this package.
Again, this is not meant to come off harsh, but it is a little off-putting to be told "This isn't the appropriate place for this question"

IPhoto for Mac problems

Since I installed the last update to OS X, iPhoto is running so slow that I can not even stand to use it! This problem started in May. I do have 36K photos in my library - but this never ending spinning ball started out of the blue the first time I launched iPhoto after the installation of update. Anyone else have this problem? Anyone solved it? Thanks.

What version of iPhoto are you using? As a first fix attempt give this a try:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete the contents the following folder:
User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: For Mavericks, 10.9, go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
where you can check the Show Library Folder checkbox.

Microsoft for MAC problems

Two problems that are causing me alot of wasted time - please advise:
1. I need to submit monthly billing in 5 minute increments via Excel. How do I change the decimal to accept two digits and not round up to one digit?
2. Accessing Word docs usually freezes my MAC - what can I do to prevent this?

1. Select the cells, Format menu>Cells… and set the number format to "0.00" or currency; or click on the Decimal digit increase button on the number pallet.
2. Try using Font Book to validate all your fonts. Remove any problems and resolve duplicates.
