Storm Sync Pod questions

Hello, my Storm charger just stopped working one day, so i am having to buy a new one. I was looking at the Sync Pod for the Storm and was wondering if it includes a charging cable or not...

Unfortunately it does not.  The idea is that it works with your current charger (which doesn't help if you don't have that charger).
Now then though, I have the Sync Dock (got the first one that came in at my dealer's store), and I use it every night.  It's especially useful when I go on a trip as it turns the Storm into a great little clock and alarm clock.  It's also really useful when watching movies on the Storm at home (or on vacation).
So while the Sync Dock doesn't come with the charger, I'd suggest seeing if you can get a bit of a deal on the two as the Sync Dock would be worth it.

  • Multiple i pod question

my brother had an i pod first then i bought an i pod touch and it worked great then he bought an i pod touch and now the apps go to his i tunes account not mine ....any way to switch this....its really annoying... we share a computer and ive tried logging on and going through the settings and syncing my i pod touch again... help would be greatly appreaciated

If you have separate iTunes account log-ins, you need to have separate user accounts on your shared computer to maintain separate iTunes Libraries, so that you each get your own purchases.

  • Syncing - memory question

I have the 3G 8GB and was syncing through itunes and received some memory 'error' that didn't make sense.
I had an update for an application that is 1.5GB and have 2GB of free memory. Why would it say that there was insufficient memory?
I basically deleted the application from the phone and then went through the syncing process again.
If it makes any difference the application in question was Navigon. There shouldn't be frequent updates for this app but don't really want to go through this every time if it isn't necessary.
Any reason for the memory issue and is there a 'fix' or am I stuck with deleting the app from the phone before syncing?
    Thanks
    Mike
Bye the way, this has a lousy spell checker!

Many apps require much more space - often double, in order to install the app.
You could look this up from the support link for Navigon in itunes. I did and found:
"How much storage space is needed on the iPhone in order to install the MobileNavigator Software?
    Answer:
In order to install the MobileNavigator Software to your iPhone, you need double the amount of free storage space. After the installation is complete, the extra storage space needed for the installation can be used again."

  • Syncing Videos Question

If I sync a video that's on my PC to the iPod, I believe iTunes shrinks it as it's copying it to the iPod which makes sense since you don't want huge videos (or pictures) copied there.
My question is, what happens when it syncs back to the PC; will it destroy by overwriting the original video on my PC to that from the iPod (which is much smaller)? Same thing for pictures.

    Hello Rediance,
If I sync a video that's on my PC to the iPod, I believe iTunes shrinks it as it's copying it to the iPod which makes sense since you don't want huge videos (or pictures) copied there.
Yes that is correct. iTunes will shrink/optimize the resolution for both photos and videos so that they will display correct on your iPod.
My question is, what happens when it syncs back to the PC; will it destroy by overwriting the original video on my PC to that from the iPod (which is much smaller)? Same thing for pictures.
If you copy these videos and such back to your computer, these versions will still only be in their smaller resolution and iPod format. Why would you sync photos and videos back to your computer if they already stored on your computer?

  • HT4236 Many Storage & Syncing Photos Questions for a Genius

I am using Windows Live Photo gallery to import pictures taken on my iphone to the My Pictures folder on Windows 7 and choose the option to delete these images from the device during transfer.
At the same time, I have iTunes configured to automatically synchronize the My Pictures folder onto the iPhone.
I'm a bit confused and concerned if I'm messing this up both by opting to "delete images from device" during photo import and at the same time "synchronize".
Is it smart enough to know what photos are new and have never been transferred vs. photos that are sourced from the PC and synced?
Can someone please comment on this?
When syncing photos to the iPhone, is there downscaling of the image happening so that it is lower resolution on the iPhone than the source image on the PC?
Further, what happens when you exceed the storage capacity on your iOS from syncing so many photos?
I'm not there yet, but will be soon. Will it start to drop the "oldest" pictures first?
Where is the option to specify a threshold for how much storage on the iOS device should be dedicated to photos vs. music? I don't want all these pictures eating into space I could use for music.
    So many questions!

Well for the first part of your question "Itunes says 6.96 GB ipod says Used: 7.26GB" thats where you have a playlist or something selected in iTUnes.
If you have a playlist highlighted in iTUnes, it shows the size of everything in the playlist, not the main library. Then when you connect the ipod, the ipod part shows the total size used on the ipod, in other words the whole size of the library.
FOr the fragment part of your question, NO do not fragment it with windows. It doesn't matter how fragmented the harddrive on the ipod is because its accessing only music. You use the ipod updater to restore an ipod, which basicly formats and defrags a ipod http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/

  • Two iPhones, one MacBook - sync/backup question

Hi all, I've read through many posts, tech articles etc and still have this question...
My wife and I both got 3G(S)s about eight months ago. She backed up/synced her phone to her PC only once since then. We would like to be able to back up her phone to my MacBook now instead of her dying PC, and also load my HUGE legit iTunes library from our CD collection onto her phone. Also, she is not interested in having my contacts, bookmarks and whatnot synced to her phone.
My question is, will it be possible to use one computer/iTunes to share the same iTunes music library, while saving her contacts, calendars etc separately? Stated otherwise, will iTunes back up two separate iPhones and allow the syncing of a common music library?
Thanks and have a great day! MMM

In regards to iTunes content, an iPhone can be synced with an iTunes library on a single computer only and photos can be transferred from a single computer only. When transferring iTunes content and photos from another computer, all iTunes content and photos transferred from a different computer will be erased from the iPhone first.
There is no device limit for the number of iPods, iPads, and iPhones that can be synced with the same iTunes library and iTunes account on the same computer. Each device can have its own sync preferences with iTunes and iTunes creates and maintains a backup for each device.
When syncing two iPhones with the Address Book and iCal under the same computer login account, the contacts and calendar events will be the same in the Address Book and iCal and on both devices. There is an option to sync select Address Book Groups and select calendars only with each iPhone, but the contacts and calendar events with both devices will be available in the Address Book and iCal.
If you want to keep contacts and calendar events completely separate, you need to create a computer login account for your wife. You can enable Fast User Switching to make the process of switching between multiple computer login accounts a fast and easy process. An iTunes library can be shared between multiple computer login accounts. Your iPhone's backup will be updated and stored under your computer login account, and your wife's iPhone backup will be update and stored under her computer login account.

  • 1 song file missing from my library. Sync & recovery questions.

I found 1 song missing from my iTunes library. File recovery software doesn't find it. It's still on the iPod.
If I do a sync, will I loose it from the iPod too? It's still present in my iTunes song list, but shows up as not found.
After I've done a sync IIRC I can put the iPod into hard-drive mode. Will that let me copy the song to my PC?
Since it's only for a $.99 song, I'd gladly use a free 3rd party application, but only want to buy software for this sort of thing if I have a bigger need.

I've never had the need to do it myself but, from what I've heard, the aggravation is worth more than 99 cents. However,

  • Syncing pictures question

Since I switched to the iPhone 4, when I do a sync, it does not sync pictures from my camera roll to my PC. It syncs every other folder that I have in "Pictures", but it does not sync Camera Roll to my PC. This may be obvious but not to me. What am I missing?

iTunes does not handle the importing of photos and/or videos from your iPhone's Camera Roll - never has.
When there are photos and/or videos in your iPhone's Camera Roll, your iPhone is also detected as a digital camera when connected to your computer. Photos and/or videos in your iPhone's Camera Roll can be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera.

  • Async sync bridge question

    Hello,
I need expert advice regarding what is the best way to remove Async sync Bridge.
I am using the bridge from SAP to java application get message back. But I am not using to get any data, just to confirm that my message reached my java application.
Since I am not using to get data back in Sync call, i am planning to remove it since this is ver y resource consuming.  On the other hand, i am palnning to use Async call and ackonowledgement.
If i use Async call, I have to depend on Xi queue for data synchronization. is there any other way that I can make sure my data is synchronised in SAP and java appl.
    Thanks,
    Srinivasa

    Hey
By default SOAP adapter gives u a acknowledgement back in the form of a HTTP code(irrespective of you explicitly asking for it or not)HTTP 200 response code means success, you will see this in sxmb_moni.
if you don't get HTTP 200 in sxmb_moni then you will see and error there(HTTP 400 i guess).
    >>Again, one basic doubt, is alert frmework can be implemented only in integraton process. or we can use for above case.
Alerts can be configured for any interface,it need not be Integration process.
You can configure alerts for your scenario and if u get HTTP 400 back you will see error in sxmb_moni and alert mechanism will trigger a e-mail to your account.
    >>How can i assure data synchronization if i use async call
For Complete data synchronization you need a actual response from receiver system(not just HTTP return code)
but if you are concerned only with data delivery to the receiver system and are not concerned with how he/she handles it after it has been received, then HTTP response code will do.
    Thanx
    Aamir

  • Backing up or Syncing iPhone question

I can't re-write all I've written..... but, I don't understand why you have back up and sync, what is the difference between syncing and backing up in iTunes, and should I have backed up before I synced...? Hence all the games are not saved where you left off last time you played them, and does back up save texts, contacts, photos, etc. Or do you have to 'sync' in Itunes. I synced because that's basically what it told me to do when I plugged in the phone, shouldn't it say back-up? Or is it one and the same, and if it does back up, where is it located on the Mac out of interest?
The new software update, 4.3, should it really take 3 hours? That's what it's telling me

Thank you for your replies,  If back up backs all that you say in '1', why would I need to tick all the contacts, etc in Sync.
When I synced Apps, it showed syncing, then deleted all of them, when I put them back on the phone, the games I'd got to say level 80+ in, when I put back on phone they were as if I'd just downloaded it for the first time and lost all the levels I'd got to. Basically, you have to start from scratch again...
If the iTunes has no old back ups or syncs, is that why it backed up the sync Apps from new
Re '7', it does show owners iPhone but how do I know it has any data in it, can you view exactly what it has backed up?
And will the new software update 4.3 delete everything on my phone?
After my experience of this synching iTunes I'd rather not do it, if it's going to delete everything it didn't when I synced this the first time?
How do I know it's kept, texts, contacts, apps in game play where left off etc, if I ever have to restore, how can you check, You hear so many people restoring and it wipes their phone clean
    Thanks again

  • Syncing Help/Question

I have an older Ipod shuffle that was synced to another computer.  That computer has quit working and a new one purchased.  Itunes was downloaded and when I try to add songs I get a message that states if I sync to this new computer all my songs will be erased.  Will I really lose everything?  How can this be prevented.  I have been able to purchase songs but they will not transfer onto my Ipod so they are just sitting in the library.  HELP!

The 1st and 2nd gen shuffle can only be associated with one iTunes library at a time.  When you connect it to a different iTunes library and sync, the existing content is replaced by content from that iTunes library.
If the songs on the shuffle are also purchases from the iTunes Store, you can re-download them to your new conputer's iTunes library at no cost.  To do this, run iTunes and go to the iTunes Store Home screen.  If you are not already, sigh in using the Apple ID used to make the purchases.  Click on Purchased under QUICK LINKS.  On the Purchased screen, you can find and download previous purchases (that are not already in your iTunes library).
For other songs, iTunes syncing is generally in one direction only, from the computer's iTunes library to the iPod.  You cannot use iTunes to transfer song files from iPod to computer, except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store.  However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do an Internet search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.  (The CNET article seems to be popular.)
Once the song files are on your computer's drive, you can add them to your new iTunes library.  After confirming everything is there, sync your shuffle as desired.

  • Syncing Contacts Question

I synced my phone to a software update and thought I backed up my phone but now I have no contacts. Is there a way to get them back? I have no idea where to look to find them if possible. Any sugestions? Thanks!!

If you use iCloud you can set up iCloud on the phone and sync them that way.
If not, when the phone is in iTunes, to restore from a backup, right click on your iPhone under Devices in iTunes and click Restore from Backup.  You can then choose which iPhone backup you want to restore from.

  • Syncing photos Question

Trying to clean up my photos. I created a folder and put only the photos I want on my iPhone into it. I then connect my 4s to iTunes and go to the photos tab and choose sync selected folder and choose the folder. The problem is all of the photos were added to Photo Library and then it also added the folder name I synced to and added the same photos in there too. So now I have Camera Roll, Photo Library and a NEW folder. I just want camera roll and my new folder. How do I delete all of the photos and just get the ones I want on there? I used the exact same process with my iPad3 and it worked fine.

Well I got the iPad today and can confirm the photos sync is not a windows only problem. I have a Mac and am having issues. I will refer to the other thread to see if there is a fix. Also, I don't think that the new iPad screen is quite as good as the iphone 4, there's a slight subtle yellowish tinge to it. Is this normal or is mine faulty. It's fairly subtle but enough to amke me notice it straight away, and gets more noticeable if you look at the screen from a slight angle. The greater the angle you look at it from the more yellowing there is.

  • Syncing apps question.

I have just recently started to sync my IPod Touch to another computer, which I have authorised. I can download purchased songs off this, but a notification comes up when i want to sync apps purchased, saying that it has to delete my other apps before it can sync the new ones.
I was wondering if there was any way to keep my old apps and still sync on the new one?
    Thanks

Copy iTunes folder from Music of old computer and replace it with New Computer in your Music folder.
NOTE: By this you will loose all your new downloads, backup's and settings but after replacing iTunes wont't give that notification anymore and you can add new music, apps or wat's so ever.
    Hope this helps!

  • Syncing Options Question

I just recently built a new computer (pc). I re-installed iTunes and made the pc authorized to purchase, download music and ect...  When I connect my iPhone 3GS and select to mannually manage music ect, a message pops up telling me "that the phone is only allowed to sync to 1 itunes only - do i wish to erase the contents of the iphone and replace it with the contents of this itunes?).
I do not want to erase or replace anything.  I just want to sync my phone to my new pc, obtain and update my phone in addition to backing it up.  I will eventually add more music and whatnot.  Is there any way I can select to manage music manually without erasing and replacing anything?  I am still very new (rookie) with Apple products/software, so any help/advice is greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.
    ~Huy

All means ALL iTunes content: Apps, Music, Photos synced to your phone, ALL. Yes, you can transfer purchased content, after the computer is authorized: Store>Authorize this Computer, then without syncing, File>Transfer Purchases. Regarding your contacts & calendars, make sure your computer has one unique entry in whatever contact & calendar applications you use. This will generate a merge or replace prompt when you do sync. If you have app data you want to preserve, first disable auto syncing under iTunes>Preferences>Devices. Then connect your phone, authorize your computer, transfer your purchases, then right-click the phone in the left device pane & select "Backup". Follow this by right-clicking again & select "Restore from Backup". Select the backup you just made, if prompted to create another backup, decline. Follow this by syncing your iTunes content back to your phone. You should get a merge or replace prompt on that first sync regarding your contacts & calendars, select merge.
