Straight talk can't hook up my unlocked iphone 4s
I have had my iPhone 4S hooked up to Straght Talk for a few months and now I went to make a payment and some way I knocked my phone off line and support is saying they can't hook it up.
Is there something I can do so it will hook up?
By the way I love my iPhone........

As has been stated, you cannot purchase an unlocked iPhone in the US. This kbase article indicates whether iPhones sold in particular countries are carrier-locked (in some cases, you can contact the carrier for unlocking).

MertIf you are not from the US, then you can't purchase a phone from the US Apple store website because there is no international shipping available.

I have two questions. Are unlocked iphone 5 now available in Appple Stores in US? Can i use a factory unlocked iphone 5 (GSM) anywhere outside the United States?
The Apple (Republic of Ireland) online store has the unlocked Iphones 4, 4S and 5 for sale. They are dear but worth it. I ordered the unlocked I phone 5 last week. That said, retail Apple Stores do and will not carry the Iphone line instore. They do however sell some accessories for all Iphones but thats as far as the Irish retail stores go.
Its obvious to me that the Apple sales strategy for the US is different to the Irish one, so your retail stores may carry the unlocked versions at some point in the future.

I wouldn't even take a chance at getting it serviced in the US.
If you did happen to find a store willing to service it under warranty, they would most likely replace the device. That means you would end up with a US iPhone locked to AT&T.
Do you really want to run that risk?
Take the device to the country of origin and have it serviced there. -

IPhone 3GS Straight Talk can only text AT&T Phones? Can't MMS
Background:
I have a AT&T iPhone 3GS. My contract ran out last September. I just let it end including the phone number.
I then signed up for Google Voice and just used the Talkatone app on my phone with Wifi to make calls and text.
In the last 2 Days I bought the correct Straight Talk Sim and Unlimited Refill Card and had my Google Voice number transfered to the Straight Talk Sim, and they activated it.
---I did not unlock my phone if that helps.---
What's Happening:
My phone can send and recieve calls from anyone.
My phone can access the internet fine.
BUT
-It can ONLY Text those on the AT&T Network.
-It CAN'T Picture Message anyone!
(it can iMessage everyone with iMessage but that works through the data)
What is happening and how do I fix it?
Thanks for the help!!!!!!The phone, like all 3GS's sold in the US is carrier locked to AT&T. Contact AT&T to find out if they will unlock it for you.
FYI, StraightTalk is only a supported carrier for iPhones purchased from StraightTalk. -
Straight talk can not access app store
I just switched to Straight Talk, after configuring the APN I can access the internet with my cellular data. However, I can not use, mapquest or any other apps on cell data. I can not even access the apple app store. Any ideas what could be causing this.

You might try their support site to see if someone has found a workaround but according to their ToS you aren't supposed to buy anything from the iTunes or App Store. -

Second, you did NOT purchase an unlocked 4S in the US. The brick and mortal Apple stores do not yet have them in stock. They can only be ordered online and have not yet been readied for delivery.
What you likely purchased was a contract-free iPhone, which is NOT unlocked. Your fiancee will NOT be able to activate that phone. -

Purchased a new, unlocked iPhone 4 directly from apple.com. We're going to be using it for in-house testing, and we don't want/need a service plan.
But we can't activate the phone without a SIM card. The only decent advice we've gotten is to activate it with someone else's iPhone 4 SIM card. But we'd need to do the same thing for any iOS update.
When I visited AT&T, they said I couldn't get an iPhone 4 SIM without a contract. I'm not entirely sure that employee was correct.
Any advice? This has been frustrating.You can purchase an unlocked iPhone, without contract, directly from Apple online or in any Apple retail store. Then get a cheap T-Mobile sim & activate the phone. Any T-Mobile store will be glad to help. AT&T wants ALL iPhone users under contract. While it is possible to establish service on a post-paid basis, AT&T does not like to do this for iPhone users. Since your phone is officially unlocked, you don't have to deal with AT&T.

If you're looking for an iPhone 4, then you'll be buying a used iPhone, so here are some precautions:
- make sure that it is really, officially unlocked. Many iPhones advertised as "unlocked" have actually been hacked to unlock them and will lock back to their original carriers when next updated.
- make sure that the seller removes the iPhone from his/her iCloud account:

If they do not, then you may find yourself permanently locked out of the iPhone.
Buying from someone you don't know is a risk, so if you can't have the iPhone in hand to confirm the above, make sure that you buy from a site that has buyer protection, as eBay does. Avoid buying from any other site or seller.
As to a SIM, you get that from the cell carrier.
